Rude staff, you pay for your food/drink with your joy. Staff talk to customers akin to ordering you around and managers couldn't care less. Shocking.

Standard Costa, no toast or teacakes today 🙄 and the lights were flickering all the time. I came home with a headache and nausea, but unfortunately, I forgot to tell staff

Parked here with my disabled mother in law. Realised that we had forgotten to bring her blue badge but given that we were only stopping for a short period (weather terrible) parked in the disabled area in the hope that we could explain to any member of staff that she had a badge. One of the members of staff saw the car and promptly contacted a parking enforcement officer without even discussing our reason for parking in the bay. When the parking attendant turned up I walked out to discuss the reason for parking without her card and she challenged me to get in the car and drive off. Almost as if that was what she wanted. I discussed the situation but it fell on deaf ears. A lesson learnt on my part. That said disappointed that a member of the Costa staff would have reported this without discussing the circumstances with us first.

Went here as had 30% off food so ordered a drink and a breakfast wrap,tasted ok far too hot tho but what put me off is the price almost 8 quid,this is shared car park with Greggs and i know where ill go from now on as can get similar for less than half price and have a better rewards on app,service ok ,drive thru counter too high, was very quiet not surprised.wont be back here.

Not bad for a Costa.Called Sunday pm.Staff not very customer oriented or smiley.Couldnt have cared less when 2 people were sat in seating area with feet up on tables with dirty shoes..Not hygienic at all!

Met my friend for a catch up over Christmas in the Bowburn Durham store. Bought drinks and food but as it wasn’t busy, we stayed for extra drinks. Just been hit with a £100 fine for staying over the two hour limit. Expensive catch up! What a con - won’t be back!

Awful experience, was fined for staying in the car park 20 mins too long, even though I was a paying Costa customer. Appealed but rejected. To be charged £60 during a cost of living crisis is a joke. Won’t be back.

Worst Costa I’ve been to so far. Saw them pour cold oat milk in a they didn’t steam enough in the jug and then it was poured so that there was no frothed milk at all. Also they used the last of the whipped cream which meant it was very runny and tasteless.

Nice latte, clean cafe not a massive queue like there can be sometimes and it was lunchtime. Friendly staff.

This is possibly the worst Costa coffee I've ever visited, the car park is very small and shared with the Gregg's, the place itself was dirty, the fraps were overpowering, way too much flavour to be nice. Wouldn't go back.

Very busy with a quick turnover of customers

Served by Ben. He was so friendly and efficient. He patiently led me through my newly downloaded Costa app which saved me £2.

Costa was nice, the services were a little cramped though so I wouldn't recommend working from here. Coffee was served perfectly and the iced drinks delicious.

Cannot praise the staff at this services Costa enough. So on the ball with everything, serving, fulfilling orders, clearing & cleaning tables, sweeping the floor, all areas amazing. The cleanest, best run Costa we have ever visited & we are ardent Costa fans, well done to this team, brilliant 👍

Useful stop on the motorway for morning coffee. although busy Costa coffee is consistent so worth the wait. The altered road layout though means it's no longer a quick return to the A1. A competitors coffee shop sits on the next roundabout which is alot quieter and you have to pass to get back to the A1

Came in very late today and the woman on by herself tonight was lovely. she stayed open just to serve us drinks as it was coming close to closing time. 5* amazing

Firstly, there was no hand sanitizer available, then they would not accept my e-gift payment as 'the system was waiting to be update'. To add insult to injury received a fine for £100 (reduced to £60 if paid sooner rather than later) for overstaying by 46 minutes. Did appeal the charge as the reason for our visit was to meet with a recently bereaved friend and timing wasn't a priority, we didn't even know there was a time limit, apparently our fault for not scrutinising the well sign posted location. Sent appeal in and received a reply within a few hours to say after 'careful consideration' it had been rejected. Merry Christmas to one and all of the Costa bigwigs and Parking Group. Disgusting they allow this at a location that had ample parking.

Three colleagues & I gave the new Costa just down the road from the old Costa at the A1 Bowburn services a go for a work meeting and general catch-up. I stayed over 2hrs and received a £100 fine reduced to £60 if paid within 2 weeks. Disgusting and immoral practice for genuine Costa customers. The car park was 3/4 empty as was the coffee shop when we were there which adds insult to injury. At no point did I even consider reading the car park signs, if there were any as I was going into Costa and nowhere else. I have emailed Costa HQ and asked for their support to challenge the unjustifiable fine, other than that, your average Costa😡

Had three coffeess here with colleagues, cakes etc. Spent over £60 there. Now I have a £100 fine for staying over two hours... Wont be meeting there any more

The place is okay but the ANPR camera clocked that I had dined with a friend for just over the maximum two hours. I was just being a good customer, we had seconds of drinks and food. Very poor way to treat a customer on a quiet day. £60 car park fine...

Always love a Costa when on the road

The Costa cafe next to the Amazon warehouse is very modern and clean with a nice ambience. I’ve been there around 2 dozen times and only once have I been able to get what I’ve asked for., simple things like toast or tea cakes. The reply you get from the staff is always the same, ‘we’re waiting for a delivery’ Just not good enough !!

I ordered a cold coffee to refresh me after a hot day. I get an absolutely bland and disgusting coffee, never ever going here again. In addition the service was terrible and it took 5 mins to make, it costed £4 to and it was terrible for value.

Plenty of parking . Comfortable place to stop for coffee,And snack .

Staff here are working hard to ensure covid measures are handled and maintained. There was a little wait time for the coffee but it was nice to see staff coming to check social distancing. Coffee was very nice

Tables not cleaned between customers, bins not emptied. When asked for a disenfectant wipe, i was thrown a paper towel...track and trace optional. Dont visit unless you take your own cleaner.

Really regret coming in. Stopped at the services just to buy water, unfortunately we made the terrible decision to get a quick bite from costa while there. Heating up one bacon bap took them 20min, my iced Carmel coffee had no coffee in it...after checking with the server that it will contain it. £10 down the drain and turned a 5min pit stop into a 30 minute affair

Good coffee, let down by high prices

Love this place! The staff are amazing. Very busy services. But absolutely amazing. The manager Marius is fantastic, always smiling and welcoming! Staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of plug sockets and also a microwave for baby food. Great variety and choice.

Costa where they do tea, coffee and hot chocolate amongst a variety of cold drinks and snacks. Polite and friendly staff and the usual Costa service

A really welcomed stop after a long drive, situated within a complex of services side by side. Good selection of snacks and drinks, lots of seating, good outdoor area, adequate parking, there's also toilet facilties and a WHS to buy news papers. It's very popular so do expect a que, sadly the staff are rushed off their feet due to the popularity of Costa having to make many coffees in a very short period of time. I think it's our job as customers to be patient as we will get served. It does calm down depending what time of day you arrive. Thank goodness we have places to stop relax, refresh and refule, back to the A1 now ready for the rest of the journey to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Relatively small (like the motorway services) so can get quite busy at peak times and at least some of the seating seems to be shared with customers of the tiny McDonaldʼs. Pleasant outdoor seating area which gets the sun from late morning onwards. Standard Costa menu, so no great surprises — and, alas, no scones!! Friendly staff and quick service.

Staff friendly but prices are ridiculous. Shortbreads are £2.49, compared to £1.65 in a regular Costa. I appreciate motorway service prices are usually higher but this is daylight robbery.

Costa coffee is costa coffee where ever you go..this one located in Durham services suffers from a small car park, badly designed access and a services building that's like a ruddy Wendy house...more a reflection of where it is rather that any fault of the coffee shop or staff...avoid! Especially at the weekend.

OK but food is limited and coffee isn't great , expensive but general with Costa

I don't know what some people want. Firstly getting in and out is hardly Costa's fault if traffic is heavy. When I went it was not long after 5 in the evening, so probably a busy time and it was a doddle getting in and out. We were served by Becky who was speedy, friendly and courteous. I'll definitely be stopping by on other footy trips out that way if I'm passing. The hardest part of of the visit was trying not to flirt too much with Becky.

This Costa has seats and nice friendly staff. Shame that the car park can only allow two hour parking and the cafe seats not open to public 24 hours. A lot pricier than high street ones too.

We stopped here for a coffee break and getting in and out of the place took longer than having the coffee - traffic flow at these services is awful - but that is not the fault of Costa Coffee of course. In the coffee shop itself there was a queue and service was really slow - but then I have found this in other branches of Costa. The place itself was relatively clean and had the usual range of Costa snacks for sale. So, overall fine for a quick stop, but it may not be quick!

Came in here as a pit stop for a coffee and the service was rather on the slow side, I do like coffee from Costa but in this case I didn't have the best experience, they could have also done with some extra time cleaning tables. On the up side the coffee was good.

Earlier this year Costa coffee promoted the sale of their re-fillable coffee mugs which earn a 25p discount each time they are used. My wife and I bought 2 mugs and have used them in countless costa coffee outlets all over the country receiving the 25p discount each time. Not so in this branch of Costa. When they did not deduct the 25p per cup I thought it was a mistake and asked for it to be corrected only to be told that their policy is that customers have to ask for the discount before payment at motorway services. Funny that as earlier that week I bought 2 costa coffees at roadchef Tibshelf North and received the discount without asking. So Costa Durham you are taking your customers for MUGS. Prices at motorway services have a high enough premium without this extra rip-off. The cashier after stating that it was only 50pence (not the point) did offer as a goodwill gesture to give me the refund but when I got home and checked the receipt I found that she had only refunded 25p for one mug. Rip-off.

Usual standard but expensive compared to a High Street Costa

Had I ordered a milky latte I would have been happy enough. How a coffee chain can get something so wrong bewilders me.

típica Costa, no es tan buena como el Starbucks para un comienzo! El servicio es relativamente impredecibley obviamente con ser en unos servicios de la autopista es un poco cutre. Sigue siendo una bonita cafetería aunque en general, probablemente no dudaría en volver.

Almost hot coffee from another Costa. Just a garage one - no sit downs.

Located within the Motorway Services, this is a better than average Costa but miles better than your average Motorway Services outlet.Typical Costa fayre but was impressed when, without any prompting, as the queue got to about 3, a second till/Barista came into operation to speed up the service. Not something I tend to find in Motorway Services.
