Costa Coffee in Rugby

Very disappointing experience, one of my favourite places recently has been going downhill. Service slow, shop floor and tables messy with dirty dishes everywhere, coffee tastes average.

Usually avoid soulless chains but it was early and my usual places were closed, so I went along this morning on a bank holiday to see if these guys were open. No sign on the door to indicate varying opening times, and there was a staff member at a table. Tried the door and it was locked so I thought I’d sit outside and send a few messages, hoping it might open soon. Staff member eventually got up, unlocked the door and said “mate, it’s a bank holiday. We’re open at 8:30am”. First of all, I’m not your mate, I’m a customer. You say “good morning”. Secondly don’t insinuate that I’m some kind of idiot who doesn’t realise what day it is. Just tell me, politely, that you’re not open yet. It’s literally the most simple customer service, and this guy failed, with one hell of an arrogant look on his face (not massively surprised by this tbf - short men always seem so angry at the world). So, I told him to stuff it, and off to Nero I went, where I was greeted by a sign indicating bank holiday opening times, a smile and a, tbh, better coffee. Costa - please train your inept staff, it’s just embarrassing rlly.

I have been coming to Costa for about 5 years now and I have seen so many different staff members I have seen over the years the staff have become quite rude and sarcastic that's not something I want to hear so I try not to go in as much now the manager on the the other hand Is lovley she works hard but also the food is very very overpriced now and even all the drinks have gone up in price I understand that with the inflation but no one can afford Costa prices anymore

3 items were missing from my order. If you don’t have items then why to accept the order at first place.

Used to be my favourite but they seem dont care how to make good taste of coffee anymore.

Item quality is fine but they always miss something off the order. It's incredibly annoying.

Missing items and just eat makes it hard to get refunded so will probably stop using it as fed up now. Starting to become a joke

Mum had the sticky toffee loaf cake, but it was a bit dry. Everything else was good coffee's, hot chocolate, mince tart.

Awful service. Staff rude ! Not capable of running a busy cafe

Costa Coffee was my favourite coffee shop but when we moved to Rugby I didn't feel the same atmosphere there. I went there and waited for a long time, nobody served me finally I approached to the girl and told that I want latte, the girl at the till didn't bother. I felt very bad,( I was with pushchair and wanted to sit and relax) and left that place. So disappointed. Poor customer service.

£5:00 a sandwich!!!!! But I do love Costa coffee

Drinks were lukewarm and not hot. Recieved a call from shop saying an item ordered was unavailable felt rushed into choosing an alternative.

Decent drink I got. Chocolate croissant, it was.

Good coffee in a central town location

Just had a packet of ginger biscuits (they are absolutely delicious 😋), and a Brownie Frappe. Both hit the right spot this morning. Love coming in and just watching the world go by. Staff are always friendly and polite.

Found it amazing that a sandwich can be both over and undercooked at the same time. Drink I ordered was nothing like the description so I can only assume it was made wrong. Not a great experience overall

I asked for cream on my drinks and there was none, all great service otherwise though

Did not get me a frape as they said it would take too long. Not very nice...

Very busy most of the time, friendly staff, seating upstairs and downstairs. Visited today and there were only 2 staff members working trying to serve customers as quickly as possible, clear the tables and keep the place clean in fact customers were clearing tables themselves, I felt sorry for the 2 girls as they were working as hard as they could, this is a management problem

They didn't deliver all of the items I purchased. Missing the muffin and 2x Crisps.

My favorite coffee spot and love to be there in the weekends and seating at outside is plus, especially in sunny days

Got the completely wrong order

Why aren’t you accepting incoming calls - Strange, for a business? Missed the main item from my delivery. Quick enough to charge but not so much on the refund. You shouldn’t pick up the order if you know one of the items is unavailable Additionally my coffee was filled 3/4 of the cup. I’ll come to the store to complain so that you are fully aware of how annoyed I am with your service

Ordered cheese & tomato panini and received tuna. I don’t eat fish. Waste of money and food. Drink was nice.

Appalling service. After 10 minutes of being ignored, I left and found a coffee shop with decent customer service.

Ordered at 10.40 and the estimated time just kept going back until 11.20, 11.30 comes along and still no food. Just eat dont have a number to call or if they do it’s unfindable. Tried to call the restaurant to although I’m sure it’s not their fault but got directed to the website where there is pretty much no option to contact anyone. It’s 12.40 and it’s been marked as delivered now (despite being on driver assigned all morning) but still no food or refund. Tried to cancel but said it would take some or all of the money. Not using just eat again and not will the rest of the office it’s ridiculous

Missing extras (large & flake) toblerone hot chocolate tasted normal with no extras and forgot one muffin. Not impressed

Overall, a poorly run store. Staff disorganised and slow to move. Of the few Costa locations in Rugby, I would avoid this one. It doesn't help when this is one of the few open before 10am on Sunday. Store very dirty, with crumbs all over the chairs and floor.

It's just a nice coffee area. Warm and inviting. Staff seem nice

Coffee is perfect, just hard to work in there , cos the Wi-Fi since last month is not working , if you want to work in there , is definitely not a good choice

Nice shop and friendly staff but like most places these days things are expensive

Food and service good, but the cafe was dirty, window sills gruby and crumbs on them. There was crumbs on some of the food shelves. Not somewhere I will visit again.

Was given the wrong order altogether I’m not very happy and I am awaiting my refund won’t be ordering again

Excellent service and a member of staff ran after us when my son forgot his coat.

A bit of a squeeze as upstairs was closed off but luckily got a table. Friendly staff and good food.

Love the game and cheese toastie and rice chocolate rice crackers. I di enjoy the white hot chocolate drink, didn't really test the white chocolate that much it was more like just milk.

Always busy but space downstairs is minimal for takeaway drivers, parents with buggies or anyone. Not enough staff (2) when we were there before 11am. The food and coffee are the best in Costa.

I'm hungry and ordered a bap with my coffee. Nope, 2 drinks turned up. Still hungry.

Ordered a caramel latte but no caramel but as other ppl have said the staff can be confused offering me somebody else's food I think they were doing something to the Aircon very hot inside as well

Asked for a large hot choc received and it was not even 3/4 full

The order came with no straws so I don’t know how I’m meant to drink an iced coffee without a straw and I ordered cream on both drinks and came with no cream

The staff went out their way to make me an autumn coffee item even though they had only just learnt it and put the menu up.

Ridiculous. All items cold because driver went to wrong address. Waste of money.

Worst one I have been too. They prioritise their delivery orders so you are sat waiting for ages on a simple coffee. I will being going to the independent round the corner and advise everyone else to do the same.

Drinks were all fine however the iced coffee with caramel syrup had a weird aftertaste so next time I'll get it without syrup.

Did not make one of my orders. The delivery driver was nice and confirmed they only gave him the one bag. They also didn’t add the Carmel flavour to one of the drinks they did send. Tired to call them but no answer.

Americano missing, handed one bag with just the two cold drinks in, app only offered refund of missing item, no refund of delivery fees

Food was cold on arrival and drinks warm.

Atmosphere was quite nice although i don't know how I felt about the food (image attached)

Had takeout drinks. Coffee almost cold.othwr coffee shops in town better value

We were missing 2 summer berries coolers and 1 strawberry lemonade. Also tiffin was sent instead of millionaire shortbread

No option for butter or jam with a croissant 😢

Both cups were broken and leaking everywhere had to throw away

Visited in a quiet Sunday afternoon and ordered 2 red Berry coolers. Had to wait a while whilst they went and got change but not an issue as drinks were being made. The drinks were of poor standard they were very thin and sloppy not like the many I have had in the past from Costa. They had spilt and not wiped the cups so ended up super sticky. That disappointed they both ended up in the bin

I'm generally a Costa lover but this one has let me down a bit, specially the staff attitude - they just seem to in the rush get rid of the customers rather than serving them.

Specifically asked for cream and sprinkles ...... did not have

Going down hill due to prioritising take out orders vs in store customers. They use to have great staff there but lately they keep changing around the staff members and leaving newly staff people on Service on their own trying to cope with the demands during busy periods. I hope they get it balanced out again soon otherwise I can see them losing customers to the coffee shop across from them or going to the other costa shop around the corner.

Great coffee Great company whats not to like

Ordered a medium Latte. There was no queue when I went in. They took nearly 30 minutes to almost get round to my order but prioritised take away orders coming in AFTER mine did. Walked out empty handed and won’t be coming back.

They didn't deliver 2 of the items ordered, yet charged for them. Food and drinks that arrived were good, hot and fresh.

I have been charged for two rocky road and only received one. Not happy at all

What a lovely visit everything just GREAT

Food and coffee were nearly cold and cappuccino was flat and tasted bitter as well as being nearly cold. I will not be ordering from there again.

There was a wrapper in my sons hot chocolate he choked on

Delivery was swift with no issues and food was lovely as always and still warm!

Fab food quality, lovely delivery person and very efficient timings, also good back, 5 stars.

Was good but a bit disappointed they got the order wrong .

Indoor and outdoor seating, good place to meet with friends

The only criticism I have is the ‘cold’ coffees were room temperature not chilled
