Costa Coffee in Birmingham

8/10/2024 5-5:30pm I’m a regular here and I do like it but i had a bad experience today. There were two young people working a boy and a girl the girl was very rude she was talking about customers loudly and making fun of them and just stood in a corner chatting the whole time while her colleague did all the work. she even talked about me out loud because she had a problem with me sitting down before ordering (i was looking at the app to see what they had and couldn’t decide and i also needed to do something important first) she needs to be trained properly or find another job

Great service especially from Ryan. He is always welcoming, friendly and helpful and even remembers our regular order. Thank you Ryan.

My delivery time kept changing multiple times for over an hour and my drink was melted

The toilets here are shockingly disgusting. I went early on today (15/7/24) and the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. There was urine on the floor, along with tissue paper that didn't make the toilet. It stunk like urine, too. A very unhygienic indicator of perhaps how they run things behind the counter. There were at least two people working at that time of day and they weren't always busy, or doing anything, so there was plenty of time to have cleaned the toilet, had they been bothered to... If you're going to have only one unisex toilet, then care has to be taken to keep it spotless, which means checking it about every half an hour at the minimum. Women deserve better than to walk into and use such disgusting facilities. It's enough to put me off visiting here again. As for the shop itself, they had some nice tables and chairs to sit on, but some of the softer seating areas have tables that are uncomfortably low and a few tables are very squished together... The staff didn't rush themselves when customers came in and weren't full of smiles and cheer; which is a shame, as good customer service is important. Personally, I'd replace the two that were working this morning and recruit better people. The drinks themselves were fine and as expected from Costa, but the food can be quite dry and tasteless at times. A satisfactory shop, just avoid the loo.

We only stopped here because we couldn’t find a decent independent coffee shop. Costa Coffee is good not great but what it has going for it is the seating area. I find that the cakes and food are very bland compared with other good independent shops, Costa needs to do better.

Thank you Cameron for helping with my difficulties spilling my tray of coffees today. It was much appreciated. An excellent member of staff.

Coffee and toastie was missing

Friendly staff, great location.

Everything was perfect except for my large cappucino. The cup was only about two thirds full. Plus, I asked for it without chocolate but they put it in anyway.

Consistently good quality and delivery this time extra good. Thing they gave us an extra pump and we love you for it ❤️❤️❤️

Coffee is nice but hot chocolate was one of the worst I had from a costa. Location is good and staff are friendly.

Got the wrong food in the order and there was no way to actually contact them to rectify the mistake - number to phone Costa Boldmere went to a customer service line that tells me it's closed.

Delivery driver was very friendly and apologetic. Shame the store couldn’t make the order in the original timeframe.

Went here today to meet with friends & have a catch up over coffee. Very busy & loud. Service was very good & all the staff had a smile on their face. Quite a few customers eating food from other places, which seemed very rude.

Very nice staff always attentive, nice and relaxing coffee and other treats. Tables always cleared and cleaned quickly.

Nice and clean Costa with that "coffee shop" feeling inside.

No milk with my coffee and panini was a bit chewy I think the bread was a bit stale might have been out of date.

Use this Costa a lot.... mainly Sunday morning. Service is great. The time we go, there is plenty of seats available.

Called for a quick coffee on a busy Saturday lunchtime. There were 4 young members of staff behind the counter and an older man who I assume is the manager. Only one person was preparing drinks which caused a bottle neck in the service. The tables were not being cleared very quickly giving the cafe an untidy appearance. The worse part of our visit was the dirty toilets. It appears during our visit that they are being used as a public convenience and they were not being monitored frequently enough. I wouldn't return as there are better coffee shops locally.

Calm clean quitish if they haven't got their ambient pop music on to loud , excellent service very polite caring staff☺️

Great place to leave your husband and go shopping

Small cafe can get very busy and have now dropped all the screens for Covid. Will not be going again until I've had my next jab

It is my favourite place to enjoy n morning fix. Now the new Manager Callum is there it is so much better. Update... Callum has now left along with a couple more staff. Unfortunately staff do not stay long at this store. Bad upper managent. Another new Manager who hopefully will stay, staff seem happier

A very pleasant team serving in Costa this morning. Cameron was especially helpful concerning my birthday treat. Always good to acknowledge good customer service do the hierarchy know!

Cake with chocolate on put against hot toastie so chocolates melted off and cakes ruined.

Being a former employee, of Costa Coffee Boldmere. I can actually say the way the head office treats its staff, is a joke with prior and current Managers who had no idea what they're doing with some of the staff who are actually vile beyond words. I do feel I can speak out now considering, I have left the company. However It's a total shame how much has changed from nine months. Having meetings, complaining to management, issues not being raised and sorted and having to write a grievance letter with 19 pieces of evidence. The previous staff I worked with were fantastic assets to the company. It's no wonder they've left. Standards have dropped since leaving. I had a voucher on the app which showed two free drinks to use and because it showed on their till one free drink so I was charged. The best part was the employee on shift actually took a photo on the till to try to prove that their was one voucher not two even though I had proved this. Honestly disgusting. Luckily the drinks were ok considering Sukhi made them. So thank you Sukhi. I wish the current staff the best of luck with such a poorly ran franchise.

Five people behind the counter yet service was really slow. Nothing complicated, just a black coffee but waited ages. There are far better Costas and better places than this to get coffee locally

Staff are extremely rude when sorting an issue, they claimed the Uber driver didn’t take the other bag when I know that it’s the Costa employees who hand the bags over, manager was extremely rude and just seemed to pass the issue on, no help whatsoever and I’m guessing that second bag is still sat here, after the staff failed to hand it over. Don’t order from me and order from another branch instead.

Loved it, the service was quick and the drink tasted like it always does - AMAZING!

Has the usual helpful staff at Costa today, but Josh especially showed kindness and was very polite and helpful, whilst I purchased merchandise aswell as my usual hot chocolate. If you've never been take a 30 minute break, you'll be glad you did!

New staff are shocking. The one new girl obviously hates her job, staff just ignore you whilst you’re waiting and then it seems such a chore to do their job. George and Co you really need to take a look at this place, especially with new competition opening 10yards away.

Staff only gave me a tiny bit of milk for my tea and had to ask for more, but it was OK and staff were nice.

It was cold and had missing items. Not the usual service.

Only a third of the order arrived, yet I was charged for it all; we had to contact JE for a refund. If it was a stock issue, it would be helpful to know at the time of ordering.

Absolutely shocking experience. I live locally & visit the shop most mornings on route to work. I believe I am a valuable Costa customer but do not feel like that from the awful service, staff turnover is extremely high, staff have no customer service training & does not complement Costa brand. Today when I visited the shop, initially I was in a very small queue, after 5 minutes a larger queue, no acknowledgement from the two staff members just evident they were overseeing online orders, one of the staff members took an order over the phone appeared very grateful of the order from the way he spoke to that telephone customer. During the 10 minutes wait no eye contact no acknowledgement, no apology, I walked out disgusted about the experience. This was seen by regular “eat in customers” I know. I would be grateful if the franchise owner could contact me, as this is not the first time I have received this experience.

Dirty cup and dirty spoon. I really dislike dirt. Staff are pleasant.

Quality very good but spoilt by a few minor, recurring problems. Ordered a cappuccino and a latte. Forgot the chocolate dusting on the cappuccino (which happens every time unfortunately) and as the drinks weren’t marked, it was hard to tell which was which. Forgot the sweetener too, which was clearly listed on the receipt. May need to check the order details more carefully in future.

Just been in costa, two young polite girls serving. There was four dirty tables with used cups etc laying around. I was there 30 mins plus, tables still not cleared. A Young lad had to sit at one of these tables to have his drink. Saw 3rd member of staff (male) arrive for work and it took another 15 minutes before any attempts were made to clear tables. I won't be drinking inside costa for a while now. Not comfortable with the hygiene regime.

Ordered a specialty coffee and decided to cancel has I was watching all the price add ons being entered on the till. £3.95 for a regular size B12 coffee to walk round the streets is too expensive. The branch in Erdington has filter coffee available for £1. When the pub next door opens the restaurant may offer better value for money coffee

Rather expensive for a regular specialty coffee. I considered the vitamin B12 coffee (see photos), but at £3.95 for a regular size, I declined. I had a Flat White for £2.80 I won't return until the restaurant has a selection of value for money coffees. This may happen when the pubs are allowed to trade. You can pay with cash. Good selection of sweets treats

They are still providing their usual service but with less items. Still good however. They have moved all the tables and made a bit of a path to safely navigate around to the counter. They seems to have a section setup for uber eats near the front of the shop so it looks like they are very organised to provide a responsive take away service. I did order from Uber eats a few weeks ago and it was fairly fast.

Bossy woman who served, do the track n trace before you're served she berated me now speak up so I can hear you, umm not my fault if I'm wearing a mask like requested. Charged for an extra butter, never happened before but 2 small butters for 2 big slices doesn't even coat the bread. Coffee was tepid as the milk used was the same as the ones in front of me. Unsatisfactory visit all round, always this way at Boldmere

Since manager and under management have left it isn't run as efficient as it was they were very pleasant with a cheery hello and service is very slow now relly disappointed

Finally able to sit in and enjoy my tea and muffin,they have the 2m markings and hand gel,and very clean as always,i felt safe.

Been here a few times now when visiting boldmere st micheals to watch my son play football. Sooooo slow, staff spend more time chatting to regulars instead of concentrating on serving. One time I actually walked out and went across road to get food from greggs, came back to costa for my coffee and woman serving was still chatting to same customer .

Unclean.. they don't wash the jugs out. That they make the hat milk in.. They stand scratching their heads. Then try to serve you. It's so over priced for a sandwich.. That is badly put to gether.. I walked out. after seeing what thay was doing..

Best Costa by far... Always get a perfect drink and the staff are lovely.

It's your usual Costa. Located on a nice spot on Boldmere high street.. Nice and cosy.. Great for a morning coffee
