They never have enough staff, hence tables allways need clearing. Whilst staff try their best, they need more help. When we were there today it was almost full, yet two men, who'd obviously just gone in just to use the Wi-Fi , selfishly, where using a four chair table each. Thus taking up eight seats between them , when people where trying to find seats ! Perhaps if they'd more staff they'd have asked the guys to move to a smaller table!!

Poor experience- egg mayo sandwich with no mayo so dry as cardboard, service poor and slow, tables worn and wonky

Typical Costa Coffee shop, if you like the coffee and food you are in the right place! Staff is always very friendly, can be busy but never had to wait too long!

Good local Costa Coffee. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff every time I go in (which is not often) but I take as a good sign.

Food is what you would expect, the service is like clockwork and the atmosphere is made all the better by the brilliant staff.

Poor customer service!!!……certainly a coffee shop to avoid. Member of staff totally unprofessional and rude but this seems to be the norm in coffee shops nowadays.

Came to meet my friend for a quick coffee before going to our adult education class. Arrived at just slightly before 5:30pm. My husband was with me and we asked for two coffees. Nothing complicated just Americano’s. The staff member who served us said you’ve only got 30 minutes as we will be closing. She said she would put it in a takeaway cup. I replied no thank you I’m sure I can drink a small coffee before you will close. This member of staff was rude and not hospitable at all. We were made to feel unwelcome and the staff were clearly only bothered about getting away as soon as possible. If the stated opening hours are until 6pm it’s not unreasonable to expect to be served up until that point. This in itself would normally annoy me but not compel me to write a review. However a few weeks prior to this we came around the same time and were stood in a queue. We were told there were no tables left so we couldn’t be served. Surely they could still have served us for a takeaway? Again this smacks of staff whose only concern is to get away with no delay.

Was open at almost 5 pm on a Sunday! Plus factor for me. Nice range of eats and drinks. Pleasant ambience.

Visit Costa's every week with a friend. We are always greeted by warm and friendly staff. This is my favorite Costa's by far. Well done Cottingham 👍

Frustrating, it's 8am, I'm the first costumer and I had to tell the staff my order three times because they forgot. I don't think they know what they're doing. The toilets have skid marks ( they had only just opened) and no soap in the dispenser.

I go to the Cottingham Costa once a week with my friend and the staff are so lovely and helpful. We always get a friendly welcome, great service and a laugh thrown in for good measure. Keep up the good work!

I get a coffee from here often with it being my closest coffee shop. However, on this occasion my young daughter needed the toilet so we rushed to Costa a couple of minutes before the shop shut, the lady unlocked the door for us when I asked if my daughter could use the toilet but the lady told me that they are having problems with the toilets - bearing in mind there are two toilets. I told her she was extremely unhelpful and clearly just wanted to get off home. Sadly, this isn’t the first time I have noticed poor customer service. There is one guy who works there and he is the friendliest by far, maybe the others could learn a thing or two from him.

Poor lad was run off his feet. I wanted to help him myself. No other staff to be seen! Makes me wander how they keep their staff. Disgusting

Only 2 of us in the que still took the girl over 10 minutes to serve and every drink she made was short measure the blonde manageress was walking about the shop talking, my drink was medium skinny latte the manageress came back pucked a latte up the girl had made and poured it into my container so I said that's not skinny and it's not extra hot, so she pulled a face poured it out and mad the drink I'd ordered

The staff in here are great!..very friendly..they remember your name..I love a hot chai latte and they are making it for me practically before I've got my coat off!. It seems to be a popular place for people to meet up as its always busy and buzzy...good atmosphere ..😊

Asked for 2 coffees with cream and was given then in takeaway cups when i said we were staying in he told us the dish washer was broken and that's all we could have. Surely that should have been made clear when ordering

Staff not helpful , disabled , wouldn't carry to table

Used to be really nice place to go and have a coffee but has gone really downhill. Went to take my kids in for a babyschino as closes at 18.00 but went in at 17.20 and all the seats was up and just about closed and couldn't have felt more of a hindrance if I tried. Safe to say id say the place closes at half 5 at the latest.

Great service. We've been twice and the guy who served us the first time remembered us the second time.

What's not to love? Bacon Brie and pickle sandwich. A smooth black Americano. Service with a smile, very polite and spotless.

Went to the Costa in Cottingham and it is so much nicer than the one in Anlaby. Better atmosphere and the staff actually seem to care.

Giving this a 2 because 3 is "Average" and this Costa does not meet the standard for the average Costa. Place was filthy when I went in; refuse, food on the floor and tables. It was 11am on a weekday, so hard to justify morning rush as the cause... Watched the customer in front of me spill his drink on the counter and floor. Staff look at the mess, swiped the counter with a dirty towel, and went on. Mess was still on the floor when I left.

Yes coffee may be good but the hygeine leaves a lot to be desired. Tables are filthy and covered in grease. Needs a deep clean.

The coffee I was given was terrible as it had no taste because it was so weak I would have complained at the time but there was a long queue which made it impossible I won't be calling again

Coffee good but food needs improving. Ever since they got the new machine for heating food you cannot get a proper anything toasted. It just toasts the top and not the bottom so toasted sandwiches are soft underneath and toast is only done on one side. They will put it back in if asked but I don't think you should have to ask as it is obvious when something is only toasted on one side.

Just been to Costa in Selby with my daughter, we both got a Terrys Hot Chocolate Orange drink. What we got was a glass of Hot Chocolate (with chipped glass) with a terrys chocolate Orange segment. WHAT A LET DOWN.

I visit costa far too often because I love the flat whites and the delicious toast! It’s like my second home. The staff here are brilliant! The manager is very friendly and helpful. The young lad is chatty and efficient as are ALL the staff. Well done all of you!

Arrived at costa today, my second visit of the week, I put my mask on as entering which caught my breath and made me cough, I took my inhaler replaced my mask and approached the till. The server then refused to serve me as I coughed, I explained I had asthma and had taken my inhaler so i wouldnt be coughing anymore, he still refused to serve me. I would love to know what medical training your 'Barristas' undertake to know my medical condition better than my own Doctor. As a customer who frequents the shop 2-4 times a week, I will no longer be giving my custom here, nor will the two ladies that where with me this morning.

This is a fab branch of Costa Coffee. Staff are great- make time to get to know you and what you order, great service. Our coffee was hot and the toasted tea cakes were delicious! However, all the cleaning stations, plastic guards etc are in place BUT the general public don’t seem to use them! I watched maybe 8-10 people enter the store and not one did their hands on entry- amusingly some had masks but not on their faces, yep fastened on their wrists! I accept the staff are not policing the public but it was an eye opener into people’s attitudes. So in short , Costa is still fab and so are the staff BUT stay alert!

Costa coffee is always good, the latte is my favourite but enjoy all of them, sometimes have a snack as well which is always very tasty.

The best service! I’m normally a bit lazy and don’t bother to review ‘chain cafes’ but my word what a different experience here Friendly, smiley staff that look like they actually enjoy their job. Nothing too much trouble despite the fast (and continuous) pace that they work at Tables were cleared quickly and without fuss - I normally avoid Costa but this experience has completely changed my mind

Excellent friendly service . Kev the barista makes time to ask everyone how their day is going . He remembers regulars and he is a great ambassador for Costa Coffee.

Called in while my car was getting fixed. It wasn't a particularly welcoming coffee shop and my drink and food didn't look very appetising. Also, cleanliness was a problem, the seats and tables. Most importantly the spoon I was given for porridge was covered in old chocolate the spoon in the pic was my replacement, which I think says it all. Very disappointed

I am a regular visitor to this Costa often on a Sunday morning. The coffees are good the cakes and snacks a bit pricey but taste great, the staff on the whole fine However sometimes the music is so loud I have ased for it to be turned down in order to hold a conversation A seat in the window is great for people watching. Its probably the best coffee shop in Cottingham in my opinion. Not scored excellent because of music issue
