Not sure why it doesn't have a star rating for the coffee but... Staff were lovely and the atmosphere was good but the oat latte coffee was probably the worst I've ever had. I don't like strong coffee but this one didn't taste of coffee at all it was so very weak. Real shame as I like it in here.

Great place with great staff. Special shoutout to the star of the show Keonie - arguably the best barista going, the Kylian Mbappe of Coffee. What a prodigy. Costa, you've got some serious talent on your hands in the form of this wonderkid.

Rude male staff sitting on the chair behind the till, asked politely to speed my order as need to go back to work and he said “ only one person can be on the coffee station” and stayed sitting 😂😂😂 used to run few coffee shop to know he is just lazy. So just walk away. Normally the staff is really good in this one only this mid age guy with beard. Seen him first time and now on once I see him will going to Nero. Avoid him!!!

Didn’t have food only a latte did want a frappe but they couldn’t do cold drinks but nevertheless latte was delicious. Good coffee great company catch up after 20y+ with a friend so thanks 😊

Bought a mocha, it was cold and it had plastic in it!

We always get the sprinkles on the mocha at this costa 😁

Never would go back to this one the table was grubby but the toilets were disgusting should be shut down had to wipe seat it was covered in pubes & floor was wet & filthy did complain but they didn't seem bothered also the coffee was tasteless I paid £7.50 for 2 coffees it's daylight robbery!!!

The staff is really rude you can’t ask anything to any staff but if you ask anything they will shout back to you really bad

If I could give this no stars I would. I’m in Costa, Chelmsford High St all the time and usually find the staff very nice and polite but not Kira. She’s rude, surly and miserable. Has no customer service skills whatsoever. How did she get to be a supervisor. She thinks when you speak to her in the same tone she’s speaking to you - you are the one being rude and refuses to serve you. NO Kira it’s you. Learn how to speak to customers after all we are the ones paying your salary.

Toilet been out of use for weeks. Entrance door also been broken and stays open. Pls get this fixed :)

Might want to train your young weekend girls on Sunday ,not to slag off a customer in front of the whole coffee shop when they get your order wrong . Childish and rude

Went with a friend for coffee and snack at lunchtime. Loved the presentation of my coffee. It was delicious. Needed to use their toilets but a bit disappointed with the cleanliness.

I have a service dog in training and the staff have gone out of their way to make both me and my dog feel accepted and welcome. Service is always great and the store is generally really clean. My dog has become a bit of a celebrity in there with both the staff and the customers and we look forward to our daily visits. We'll done Tom and team.

It was typically Costa coffee - nothing special. Clean, service quick and quite busy.

Great branch of this popular coffee chain. I come here quite frequently and there is now never a quiet time. Staff are always friendly and efficient in serving. Lighting has been very recently changed. It is now much brighter and lighter, but in my opinion it is now too harsh!

A good coffee shop staff were excellent

Slowest service in the world… not a one off either. Every day for 10 days I went in and left due to the queue taking so long. Thank god for Pret about 5 doors up!

What can you say? It's a Costa Coffee. No issues at all apart from a lack of power points to plug in laptop - unforgivable in this day and age.

Saturday morning experience was really good.... Long queue but got served in 7 minutes and they were so polite and smiling...even though it was really busy. Latte was really good and the Almond Crossiants were spot on..Well done them

Absolute chaos in Chelmsford this morning - had to wait twenty minutes for a coffee!!! Baristas didn’t seem to know what they were doing!

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for a coffee and hot chocolate after our normal coffee shop over the road on Chelmsford High Street (Caffe Nero) was shut. This Costa is nice, clean and spacious (see photos) and the late afternoon sun comes through the front window. Staff were friendly and efficient and cakes and food well stocked. Both the large hot chocolate (with oat milk) and the Latte were good. However, in terms of quality/taste I still think Caffe Nero is tastier. In terms of cost Costa were 30p more expensive for the same items. Recently Caffe Nero has been often closing before their scheduled closing time which is annoying, so we may well be here more often as Costa seems more reliable.

Bit of a queue, but worth the wait..

Nice coffee, good atmosphere. All branches are pretty much the same, so you know what to expect.

As usual, quick service, tasty bacon bap and the best cappuccino in town.

Hot chocolate, bacon roll & M&S sausage roll but no mustard

A little disappointed with service, although small queue and plenty of seating. Server unable to hear order & not understanding the menu choices. Would prefer menu prompts near till to assist especially with new menu items. Nice helpful staff but better process required. Will likely pre order next time even if outside the shop!!

People serving brain dead didn't pass my order on after taking money therefore people were getting served before me when they were after me in the que, won't be going back .

This cafe is hidden away in the Next store on the first floor. It is under used compared to the Costa outlet on the same retail park and a much more pleasant experience for it!

Great customer service. Staff are cooperative. Feels comfortable at home anytime I visit the store. Sylwia always ready to help, very friendly and makes customers feel comfortable and happy. She always meet customers with a welcoming smile 😃. I will recommend this store to my friends. Thanks 😊

Costa in Chelmsford is much like the others. You know what to expect. Friendly staff and pleasant place to relax.

Have been here for a vegan panini before which was nice and was looking forward to trying their Christmas vegan options but today they didn't have any vegan options on show. And only one vegetarian option. Disappointed

I popped into costa with my two babies so double buggy and shopping, and once ordered, Saskia was so kind to ask me to take a seat and she brought my coffee & biscuit over. This might not seem much to some but it meant the world to me not having to maze through a que, seats and customers with a buggy and coffee! and with my children. Thanks again Saskia you made my day by your thoughtfulness and kindness. I will be sure to pop back ☺️

Ordered a single shot latte, which I got, but it wasn't very hot. Had to drink it very quickly before it got too cold.

So I'm sitting here having my flat white. I'll be honest, at first I made my mind up about this place very quickly as it seemed disorganised and all over the place. However, when it finally came to getting my coffee, it was at lightning speed, and the quality was superb. The team here seem really up against it at the busy times. Its fantastic to see people from the community meeting up at their local coffee shop for a chat or even a meeting. The team here do a superb job and I really hope they can keep it up. Well done team.

It is located inside a book store so it's nice and quiet. The cafe isn't very big. So there is not a lot of places to sit if it's busy. It does a small variety of cakes.

This was quite quiet when we arrived, but it was really warm. Could do with some more powerful air con. A seat by the window is a must, as there's some fresh air to be had.
