Family Birthday meal. I didn’t really expect the entry to the restaurant to feel like a cattle market. We gave our name to the booking desk, they found d our booking and asked us to wait with heaps of others in a small bar area all crammed together. After 10 mins the called my name as seated us. The food was great but the place was far too packed in bad busy. It was loud and canteen sounding. They gave us a ticket telling us we had to leave our table at 8:45. It all felt very all inclusive and for £75 for three of us I had expected more. I don’t think we will return again.

After reading the negative speculation regarding one of our favourite restaurants, Cosmo Wolverhampton I have visited the restaurant and had lunch there today... Again a very enjoyable one. I also made a point of finding out what was behind the recent comments on social media. Speaking to a member of staff I have managed to find out the following. Over past week, Cosmo received a visit from two Environmental Health Officers following reports of guests becoming ill after dining at the restaurant. Upon thorough examination and collaboration with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), it was determined that the cause of the reported illness was NOT due to any food safety violations or contamination within the restaurant. The Environmental Health Officers' investigation revealed that the illness WAS caused by NORO VIRUS , a common and highly contagious virus that can spread rapidly in public spaces, often transmitted through person-to-person contact. Although norovirus is primarily known as a winter bug, it is currently being spread within the Wolverhampton Community including my friend and his family. They were contacted by the EHO and asked like everyone affected to provide samples for testing and to pinpoint the cause of the outbreak. Now that the cause of the illnesses has been determined I hope that this gives us all the reassurance and confidence to visit Cosmo again soon. Cosmo has been part of Wednesfield for many years and all my children’s birthdays have at some point been celebrated here. So naturally I was upset to read the posts that have been circulating on social media and the accusations being made and particularly how it affects the business. I hope all those effected are better now and things can return to normal.

Clean, friendly staff, foods very… erm… it’s ok it’s what you’d expect from a mass cattle market of people trying to get the last piece of grilled beef off the side or the last chocolate cake from the fridge.. it’s not my thing really but for a 60th birthday meal with the kids was all ok. The only major issue I had was the waitress asked me 5 times to pay throughout my meal.. not only was it embarrassing as we was surprising my father and his partner with a birthday cake and to pay for their meals but she didn’t leave me alone to a point it was uncomfortable. I’m not one to complain and make a fuss but I think cosmos should train their staff better really.. we come in, eat, drink then pay before we leave I don’t find that hard as that’s the going thing around other restaurants. 5th time lucky I ended up paying as it was getting embarrassing. Not a place I’ll be rushing to get back to if I’m honest.

Been to cosmos this evening for my father's 60th birthday celebrations, I've got to say, it was awful.. staff wise, food was nice, but constantly problems with staff from start to finish.. First the table wasn't ready, having made a trip earlier in the day to drop off balloons for the table and cake, got to the table balloons weren't there, then the waitress had an issue with us wanting 3 separate tabs for drinks, as it was for a party of 10, then we managed to get some food after 15 minutes speaking to the waitress to sort the bill out, having in mind you get 1 hour 45 mins, and with 4 young children, it was stressful anyway.. then asked if we could sort the bill after our meals as we were wasting time, to then be badgered several times DURING the meal to pay, even though we had asked to pay at the end.. it honestly was the worst experience we have had there, and we have been for some occasions over the last few years.. my son(3) has spilt a drink and it was the end of the world for the staff to clean it up, to the point I offered to do it.. it genuinely wasn't on purpose.. I vouch for us all, we won't be returning in a hurry! From what we thought was going to be a nice celebratory meal, turned into stressing hell.. 🙃

Firstly we had to wait about 10 minutes for our table that had been booked weeks in advance. Booked for 15 people, table was only set for 14 so we had to wait for another chair. Then we had to wait to order drinks and pay for food. Some of the food was disappointing, some of it was quite salty. Didn't like walking past the main entrance with my food. Trying to get to the through crowds of people waiting at the main door was a joke! Food was nearly knocked out of my hands. Then to top it off we still had to leave after 1 HR and 45 minutes!

As a regular to Cosmo I am aware of the food quality and standards. Spur of the moment decided to drop by, dear me, what a disappointment!! The food has gone down in quality, with curry’s been watered down. The chicken tikka off the grill was tough and tasteless. The pilau rice has been changed for a low quality substitute. There were dishes off the Chinese section which had changed and not for the better. Considering it’s £20 per head which in my opinion for mid week is pretty pricy. You expect quality. And you just aren’t getting it any more. Other guests were saying the same thing. I shall not be returning.

It is a fast food because of the 1.5 hour sitting policy and the American breakfast style tables. The table was so uncomfortable and the space so limited I had a feeling I'm eating in airplane. The beef teppanyaki - so dry and chewy, I sked the waiter for shar knife to cut it and they said they cannot provide. Each time I needed a new set of cutleries or napkins I had to ask the waiter to bring. I was eating and watching my watch to fit in the 1.5 hour allowance - definitely didn't enjoyed my food there. For sure will not go there again. In my favourites restaurants in Birmingham the sitting policy is 2.5 hours and even if you stay longer nobody is coming to remind you. For 4 people I paid £135, normally I pay £60-80 in my favourites in Birmingham.

Thoroughly enjoyed the time we were there. 1 and half hours is plenty of time to sample all the different food on offer. The staff were extremely helpful, even when I spilt my drink and broke the glass! They were more concerned I hadn’t hurt myself. Chrizander was particularly lovely and helpful and took the time to ask and remember our granddaughters names. Will definitely be going back.

Booked for 3 people as had my toddler with me, we was put on a table for 2 which was cramped for 3 plates, drinks and everything else. Whilst eating staff came over for payment, my husband told them I had my blue light card and to come back as I was getting food, but the staff member hovered over my husband till I arrived. As I sat down he asked to see my card and for payment. I asked why I couldn't pay at the end of my meal as this was a inconvenience running or meal, he told us that everyone now pays at the table. This is not at the end but during your meal, considering we was cramped and was on a 2 person table with 3 of us and on the end where there was a busy foot flow we then had a staff member hovering over us for payment with machine like we was going to run off. This is disgusting service, we've not used cosmo in very long time so thought it would be a treat, but was left disappointed and embarrassed.

Obviously you expect the food to be there for a little while but what was there and fresh was pretty good and a good way to fill you up. Not at all worth going to .. took my son celebrate his 21sr birthday with family … group of 20 …had to wait 30 mins after our time to be there for Then soon got table had women coming and asking for payments which I’ve never experienced before when going to there before… To then decide pay separate and have em take 1 order and then asked about student discount as sons a uni student paid and then told can’t have other family members work for nhs they can’t use it Yet we would have paid whole bill together if that was made known … Clearly celebrating my sons 21st to then be told he’s not entitled to his meal free or the bottle of Prosecco for his birthday that his man made us aware of because he £2.00 discount off a £134 bill n that was for jus 5 full price adult n 1 child … And then to make worse tried to charge my niece n his fiance a child’s price for there baby who wasn’t even eating as doesn’t eat that food yet Member of staff worked our table wasn’t helpful at all never made us aware of anything Even thou very clear were a birthday party group They hovered over us and literally was disturbing us for 30 mins into meal none stop making sure everyone had paid upfront Even thou hadn’t gave the discounts and the manager n member of staff arguing and talking down to customers … over a £400 bill and spoken and treated like scum

We haven’t been to cosmo for years and we were really impressed. Large selection of food, friendly staff and prompt service, i think it’s great paying first and just enjoying your meal. Only Critism, a service charge is added. At no point were we asked to pay this, no signs or nothing at time of booking. We had this removed as we paid a large amount for the meals itself. Needs to be clearer or removed.

Food was good and hot, but service not great - had to wait like 25 minutes to be sat down despite having a reservation, and everyone just kind of piles into the entrance area so you have to wait with loads of people and then when you get your food you have to walk through all those people with your plates so deffo needs a re-organise. Was really disappointed, the only food on the deli was pre grated cheese,bit of lettuce and a few olives and other salad veg. There was a vegetable pasta dish and cheesy mushroom bake, plus the occasional pizza they served, that was it for the entire Mediterranean section Many other sections had zero available. Puddings were sparse. No rich British classics as the website stated. Felt very misled. Some of the Chinese dishes were ok but chicken on the Indian section was very dry. No British classics except a very badly made,upside down cottage pie, some very over cooked eggs and cocktail sausages were OK the tasting menu. We came on a Saturday lunchtime so obviously didn't expect the full menu to be out but this was ridiculous. There are other cheaper all you can eat places in wolves with better food for a much better price who tellyou what is available at lunch and during the evening.

Dinner with a friend. Food was fresh, selection wide and lovely and hot. We were given just over an hour (5.15 pm to 6.30) before being expected to leave which was a shame as it was a nice atmosphere and felt rushed. It’s not something we’d do every week but this was a special Occasion and my teenagers like the novelty of being able to choose from a variety of dishes rather than choose one. The food is ok. Very good selection and the restarting is busy so it’s buzzing . We went at 5 when it opened. The waiting staff are quite young but all very friendly, warm and welcoming. My 14 year old daughter complimented our first server on her earrings and she responded with a compliment on my daughter’s hair which made her day. A little later she returned and told us where to buy the jewellery. It was a really nice touch. Alea I think she was called - only a trainee but I do hope you keep her. They collect dirty plates promptly, but you use another one if you want seconds or thirds etc. I was too stuffed for pud but the other three sampled a few. Four + drinks came to £96

The only good thing about this cosmos was the sun kist bottomless drink and the tinned lychees. Absolutely fine for a cheapnnight out with friends. For an ‘all you can eat’ menu covering a wide range of styles, it would be ridiculous to expect top quality food, but it was more than adequate, particularly given the pricing. Staff were friendly, decor was good. Three stars is meant in a good way - if it was a bit closer (took an hour to get there) I would go back sometime.

Visited last night 23/05/23 for brother in laws 60th birthday , a table of eleven of us was met with a smile and seated immediately , ordered drinks straight away which landed only about 5 minutes later , took a few minutes to soak in the atmos and thought how pleasant it was , plenty of room between tables and not rushed , on proceeding to venture to the food areas was overwhelmed with the amount of choices of different foods from around the globe , everything that i tried tasted fresh and lovely , went back for seconds of course , then enjoyed the sweet section also delightful , would highly recommend , just make sure your hungry so that you can enjoy to the full.

I am writing to share my experience at your restaurant on Wednesday 3rd May. My party had a reservation for 8pm and unfortunately, we had to wait for our table until 8:20pm despite the restaurant being almost empty. When we started to serve ourselves, we noticed that several of the trays were empty, and when we raised this issue with the staff, we were told that they were not cooking anymore as the restaurant was quiet. This was very disappointing and frustrating as we had not been informed of this policy when making the reservation or upon arrival. To make matters worse, we were then told that the kitchen could cook to order, which seemed contradictory to the idea of a buffet restaurant. We chose to dine at Cosmo for a special occasion, and the lack of available food options and confusing policy regarding cooking to order ruined our experience. As customers, we expect clear communication and transparent policies from restaurants, particularly those that may impact our dining experience. We also expect the advertised buffet options to be fully stocked and available during the restaurant's opening hours. Overall, our experience at Cosmo in Wolverhampton fell short of our expectations, and we hope that you will take steps to address these issues and ensure that such problems are not repeated in the future.

This was our first time visiting this branch of Cosmo’s although we have visited some others before. Firstly, the way things were handled with COVID restrictions were great. Masks and one way systems around the buffet and importantly, disposable gloves so you could actually go up and pick the food yourselves, unlike some other buffet restaurants requiring you to tick off items on an order sheet and have the food brought to you. There was also someone ensuring people stuck to this and this was being done quite strictly.The food itself was good buffet quality food and we really enjoyed our meal there. There was a slightly reduced selection but to be honest I didn’t notice much difference. No alcohol but the 1 litre jug of soft drinks they offer was a great deal. All in all a good experience and will be going back again!

So I visited Cosmos on Saturday and I have not been to the Wolverhampton one for around 5 years, We knew there would be a 1 way system and gloves ect for corona virus and this is no problem, but as there is now a 1 way system in place It would be good if a lot of the serving dishes ect were not empty as we went round(Which i though was poor due to there been reduced numbers in cosmos), the Chinese and teppanyaki food was really nice, but the english food that they put out was just cheep and not nice. I have been waiting to re-visit this restaurant for a while now and was very disappointed.

Very nice food well cooked and beautifully seasoned.very strict with buffet etiquette regarding using hand sanitizer using disposable provided gloves everything time at buffet and wearing a mask any one violating this rule was quickly corrected. Rules are explained also on arrival payment at table. Menu slightly different but plenty of choice so no one would be disappointed I'm sure.Good high standards and not very busy best to prebook and whilst there wear mask on entering and everytime you leave the table. Enjoyed meal n puddings and tables thoroughly cleaned between customers and socially distanced tables.Very clean and would definitely go back and feel comfortable that they are doing all they can to make this a very clean and safe environment as much as possible.

All dishes empty and when spoke to the Manager, he was very defensive about it. Told me that dishes are being prepared and will be refilled in 10 minutes however it's impossible to cook all buffet in 10 minutes. No was was paying attention on the dishes and staff was keep steering spoons in empty dishes rather preparing and refilling. Manager and Supervisor was standing having a laugh in corner while dishes were empty. Tap water was served in smallest glass possible that could not accommodate more than few drops literally. Travelled so long to be that disappointed and paid full price was cold empty dishes. Buffet was meant to close 9:30 and staff stared clearing sections from 8. Waiting for someone to please get back to me as this is unbelievable.

This was my first visit since reopening. I was a little sceptical as to how you well you could operate a restaurant such as Cosmo under current restrictions. I shouldn't have been. The choice is slightly reduced, but many old favourites are still to be found. It's still self service and very well organised. We visited at 19:30, the place was 'full', given current regulations, but still no queuing at food stations. Smells like Cosmo, looks like Cosmo and tastes like Cosmo. Very impressed. Worth the wait.
