Excellent food, nice comfortable surroundings and pleasant and helpful staff. This is one of the best restaurants in Chorlton and well worth a visit

Until this restaurant puts its eat-in prices online I'm keeping this bad review in place. Only its take away prices are visible online. This will not be what you end up paying when you eat-in. The online photos of the menu are a joke - upside down and at an oblique angle.

We had a lovely family meal. Interesting menu, nice presentation, thoughtful food that's is very tasty. Had a range of dishes and all were well prepared and full of flavour.

This visit must rank as one of my most uncomfortable eating experiences, EVER! I failed to follow my instincts and decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt after the front-of-house host promised us a discount whilst observing us peruse the menu for a while. I ordered a mixed starter and waited, what seemed to be a considerable amount of time, for its arrival after seeing several later-arrival customers being served before us. My partner’s starter had arrived but alas, not mine! After summoning the host to query its whereabouts, he hurried into the kitchen area where I assumed that he questioned the cook. More minutes passed before an anxious-looking person emerged from the kitchen area carrying what I assumed to be my starter. He passed our table and we watched as the same plate was eventually taken from him before being 'plonked' onto our table by the silent host. I was immediately saddened by the appearance of the food items. The kebab had a 'pinkish' appearance as though it was under-cooked and its temperature was considerably lacking for something that should have been freshly-prepared. The samosas were equally lacking adequate heat and I once again sought the attention of the said host to register my dissatisfaction, expecting that he be understanding and resolve the issue. My starter was taken away and later presented once again, this time by a non-apologetic person, whom I assumed was the cook. I was again very disappointed at the outcome as the samosas were charred and inedible. When the half-empty plate was eventually cleared away it was at this stage that I really began to regret not following my initial instincts and despaired as to what the main course would resemble now that my illusions had been shattered by the starter. Since we were seated near to the kitchen it was easy to observe the appearance of meals being brought out, particularly to other tables close to us. What we did observe proved to be the deciding factor for us to leave the establishment without waiting for the main course to be presented. After a curt, brief explanation to the host, as well as overhearing an angry takeaway customer returning their meals, our rapid exit was made. Needless to say, we shall NEVER return to this establishment and I certainly intend to resume following my instincts with respect to dining out!!

Nice restaurant decor, sadly lost their way with the food.some people might enjoy it, just for me it wasn't a proper Indian more like fusion fancy stuff. I like a plain old chicken jalfrezi in a hot bowl papperdoms in a stack not broken bits in a fancy bowl with a tiny dish of onions and chutney like a teaspoons worth..not an Indian or bengal food more like Thai mix Chinese, not seen duck and spring onion on any Indian restaurant I've been too... That's for sure. Aslo had better service one menu available between 4!!!!! Had to ask if we could order then ask again when the food would be arriving not a relaxing meal after work that's for sure. Chorlton though these days is not what it was full of overrated rubbish restaurants. Plus note Cobra pint was ice cold in an ice cold glass £4.50 not bad value for Chorlton either

To start we were given a drinks menu 20 mins after arrival. We were then given 1 main menu to share between 4 of us as the rest were 'occupied'. It then took a further 30 mins for anybody to take our order, bearing in mind the restaurant wasn't that busy for a Friday night. After another 30 mins we had to chase up our food which was then delivered within 5 mins. What can I say about the food. Fish tikka arrived and could have stank the whole restaurant out with how fishy it was. It was also very slimy. Definitely not fresh. The chicken in our curries was pink upon inspection so didn't eat that. The tikka massala was like a tin of heinz soup. The jalfrezi tasted of nothing more than tomato puree and chopped tomatoes. Categorically the worst restaurant food we have ever had. Will not be back.

The coriander Dahl was honestly one of the best I’ve had. Great service from Shakil, I would highly recommend!

Food tasty , service great. Just way too many flies landing everywhere. On me and the food. Then I checked food hygiene and it’s 2. Probably explains the flies. So we won’t return. Aim higher, you charge enough

We had a delicious meal at Coriander. We asked the waiter to choose for us and we weren’t disappointed. Great choice for both meat and non meat eaters. Very friendly service.

Very disappointed as I have wanted to try this place for a long time after a menu was posted through my door. Ordered at 16.30 for 17.00 delivery, 17.40 no sign. I called the restaurant who said that it was on the way. 18.00 still no sign (an hour late & I live 2 miles away) I called the restaurant again and was told that the delivery driver came to my house and dropped it outside so it was brought back to be recooked. Food then arrived 10 minutes later… the curry & rice was hot in temperate but all starters and naan were cold. Poor service & poor food!

Had an excellent time today,all staff dressed smart and very helpful/polite.Food didn’t take long to arrive and was very authentic and tasty with larger than expected portions.Manager boss came to greet us at the end of the meal with a smile.Also it is always good when you get the bill and it is lower than expected :) cannot fault this place whatsoever 10/10 in my opinion will 100% eat here again!

Absolutely beautiful food, so full of flavour and good sized portions. Such good value, definitely order again.

Yet another gorgeous meal in this place. They put so much effort into the creation of their dishes. You can really taste layers of flavour. The pickles are good, the roti are fresh, nothing is too heavy..it's got real freshness. I go for the Naga chilli chicken..very hot, very fragrant..my partner has an aubergine paneer dish that is through the roof delicious..I have had so many bad, over priced curries in the city centre..so lucky to have this place in the middle of chorlton...thoroughly recommend it..

We went as a table of five yesterday and have a really nice meal. The positives include great poppadoms and condiments, absolutely trop drawer. Really good starter platters (both meat and veggie) with the samosas being that of a punjabi variety rather than filo-pastry deep fried. Everyone was happy with their mains though I just had a bad choice. I went for the Urban Chicken which was fruiter than I imagined and with the amount of Peshwari's on the table, it just didn't work together. But in saying that, the chicken in the curry was moist and tender. I tried a couple of other curries on the table which were very nice. Now onto the only real negative and that is the Peshwari Naan. I am a firm believer in the power of Peshwari, it's a must on any curry table. But these Naans were stuffed too much with filling and became sickly sweet and did so in a hurry. It didn't stop me from eating a Naan and a half but some of my pals really struggled with it. All in all, a really strong meal and as our Didsbury Curry Club ventured out of Didsbury for only the second time (we had a horror show at Royal Nawaab in Levenshulme which I still haven't forgiven Danny about) we will look to go further afield again.

A fabulous meal as always last night at Coriander in Chorlton. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed the really interesting starters and our main courses were delicious and plentiful. The style of cooking at Coriander is a breath of fresh air. Flavours are intense and intricate but the food is fresh and lightly cooked with no excessive oil or heat. Martin and his team were as friendly and helpful as ever and the whole experience was an absolute pleasure.

Went to Coriander on a Thursday night for a family get together. There was 12 in our party. The food was excellent all the meals came out at the same time and was hot ,the service was good. There was only 2 staff on and the chef but they all did a great job. Would recommend this restaurant. Can get very busy at weekend.

I Have been here 5 times in the last year always in a large group. The food is definitely a cut above the average for Indian restaurants. Excellent quality, superb tastes and freshness. However, on every occasion when I we have been through the bill at the end of the meal there has been extra items on there. Buyer beware.

We went for a birthday meal was very disappointed the pictures shown on line did not look anything like what was served. The waiters managed to throw water all over my son. It was very busy not enough staff we've had better food from a take away not what you expect won't be going again

Absolutely Rubbish!! The food was extremely bad.this is painful when you consider when compare the price there with somewhere like curry-mile which they give the SAME ,even better food for better price. Don’t waste your money Absolute rip off!

Asked whether or not the goat was actually goat as many restaurants and take-aways list items as goat when it is in actual fact mutton - was assured it was goat . I don't think it was. Flavours in the dish were good - but...

We booked for monday 31st, just the two us. We were shown to a table for 2. It was less than 1 metre to two other tables and in a busy thoroughfare. They have always packed people in there and haven't changed their practices. Money...

Went to a birthday party and it took very long till we were served. When we had to pay separately for the drinks but the staff was too confused to do that what meant that the host had to pay for everything to avoid embarrassment.

My girlfriend and I visited here for a takeaway on Boxing Day. We were told that we needed to order on-line while stood at the counter to get the 20% discount. Yet, the system kept crashing. The whole rigmarole seemed a bit silly and pointless...

We regularly go here for a family meal and have never been disappointed. They often cater for large family groups . the food is always good, the service is good and it's affordable.

My daughter and I visited for the first time and had a lovely evening at Coriander. The menu was varied and the wine list had a large choice of organic wines. I had the lamb rosti and my daughter opted for one of the hot dishes. The food was absolutely delicious, not swimming in oil like some Indian food can be. The staff were really friendly and helpful, advising on the various dishes as we weren't sure what to choose. The atmosphere was busy but not too noisy and the tables weren't too close together which meant we didn't have to shout to have a conversation. Will be returning very soon!

Struggled to find a restaurant but luckily, we were housed by Coriander. We had starters- friend asked for lime pickle as a condiment. The waiter said ‘we have something else instead’. For some reason, he didn’t want to bring it. After asking 3 times, he reluctantly brought it! Food was nice, but not blown away by it. Found it a little expensive - it was cheaper in the centre of Manchester... Would I go again? Not anytime soon, as spoilt for choice...

Just had our first takeaway from Coriander in Chorlton. It was absolutely delicious, we will highly recommend it to all our family and friends. We will definitely be ordering again!

Muy buena comida y una cálida bienvenida por parte del equipo. Está a un corto paseo de Wilbraham Road y en la ruta de autobús. Tiene un ambiente fresco y limpio con una buena selección de bebidas. La comida es fresca y se puede decir que no es grasosa. Los poppadoms son particularmente buenos aquí y la bandeja de chutney es generosa. Compartimos un entrante de cebolla que era encantador y ambos fuimos por un curry de un menú muy completo que una nueva versión de descripciones buenas y bien entregadas. El servicio puede desviarse ligeramente hacia el final de su comida, pero se clasifica rápidamente, uno de mis favoritos y lo recomiendo totalmente.

Staff are friendly, attentive, there is a large choice on the menu and the food was extremely tasty. Also very reasonably priced for the area it is in. I would definitely visit again if in the area, and recommend to others.

Such great veggie options, fabulous fish starters and beer on tap. Non greasy. Ingredients used to maximum affect to produce great curries. Never had bad service, professional and warm. We live both Coriander restaurants in Chorlton. Highly recommend.

Good, tasty food for a reasonable price. Service excellent, friendly, efficient. It was busy but no attempt whatsoever to get us to move on so that they could sell the table again. That, in combination with the lovely food, warrants more visits and a recommendation to try it out yourself.

One of the best curries I’ve had. We were a large party and everyone enjoyed their food and the service was excellent. My daughter said it was the best butter chicken she’d ever had and she’s had quite a few! Definitely worth a visit and we’ll be back.

We ate here recently for the first time in while. Always good food and service and typical of what we would expect of the Coriander. We will return again at some point and certainly recommend if you haven;t been before.

Tuvimos un curry fantástico, como siempre, y aunque estaban muy ocupados, el personal era tan atento como siempre. Gracias a todos en Coriander y feliz año nuevo a todos.

Comida increíble para la cena de navidad. Todos tuvimos un fabuloso cordero biriani después de compartir los tres entrantes que se ofrecieron, todos ellos eran encantadores. También debería mencionar los encurtidos que vinieron con los poppadoms ya que estaban deliciosos. Todos los que nos sirvieron fueron amables y educados. Mi única crítica fue que pasamos los tres cursos en menos de una hora. Una comida más relajada hubiera hecho la experiencia perfecta.

We have eaten in the restaurant previously and was very impressed with both the food and service. However we order a takeaway at weekend and the food was very disappointing. The lamp chop starters were very tough and not edible. The samosas were very dry. We ordered 2 curry's, the chicken rogan josh was ok but there was only half a portion and the goat pathia (which state it it hot) was very very sweet and not nice at all. Only good thing about the take away was the poppadoms and chutneys so very disappointing!

Good service, reasonably priced beers, pleasant enough interior. Most importantly, very tasty, fresh, hot food, with a good balance of spices. My prawn house special was delicious, and included some crunchy vegetable matter for good measure. Result.

Visited from London. I eat an Indian Meal every week - this was my first visit to the Coriander in Chorlton (Manchester). We had the best Indian Meal we have had this year, I particularly liked the goat pathia. The whole experience was excellent.

From the outside Coriander looks very ordinary- but the staff are welcoming and helpful. The restaurant states that their food has no artificial ingredients and is cooked with fresh vegetables and spices. Our experience was that the meal was well presented , light and tasty. I had the Bengal venison dish and Jarad was able to explain where the meat had come from. Good to see venison on the menu and cooked in a novel way. Definitely will be planning s return trip

Food was absolutely great. Good value. Staff very pleasant. Decor has been modernised fairly recently but still seems to be fairly quiet (although they seem to do a good trade in take aways).

Ok, late choice for Birthday meal in walking distance. Expected on arrival after booking on line, seated, and before even settled asked if we wanted dips and popadoms. Replied that we’d like to see menu first , and then 2 mins later asked again! Guess they profit on those. Anyway choices made order placed ( inc dips etc as we always have those! ). Starters ok , fish quite dry, infused lamb over cooked, prawns really good. Mains, tasted ok but much spicier than used to. Can get just as good from takeaway- and larger. The service though was poor. Literally threw plates to table , reaching in front of face while talking to get plate next to me. We were shocked.

Really nice menu with the old favourites but also some different dishes. I went for a goat curry and it was really nice great flavour, lovely spice and really tender meat. My wife enjoyed her food too and the service was good as well. Its not the most intimate setting but with a good selection and tasty curries you can't complain. We will be back.

We met up with our son, who lives in town, at the nearby Broughton Park rugby club and scanned Google for an Indian restaurant within a short drive. This one had a good rating and was only around a mile away, so we made tracks...

We popped in here yesterday for dinner, after a few drinks round Chorlton. Was really impressed - lovely clean, fresh dishes (not oily at all), well cooked/presented, just right in terms of portion size, friendly staff who took time to check our meals were ok, pleasant surroundings and overall good value for money. Really nice place and wouldn't hesitate recommending.

3 of us for a family evening meal. Parking was abit tricky, but other than that we had excellent meals. A main course each plus breads and a single pilau rice, 1 beer each and a dessert each had us all nicely full and at a very reasonable price. Good service and a nicely varied menu including my first goat pathia - which hit sweet, sour, hot, spicy notes and was just great. Nice decor, attentive but not pushy service, impressed.

We dine here fairly frequently with our children who love it. Staff always friendly and remember things we like. Found the service to be good and the food consistent. Never had a bad experience; always enjoyed our food

I was looking forward to nice meal there when driving past, parked up, the restaurant looked open and they had open sign on, staff was walking about but when we tried to come in the door was closed. It was 16.05 and they open at 16.00. Staff saw us and communicated to each other but we were already put off by this treatment and got back to the car. They opened the door as soon as we turned the engine off. We went elsewhere.

Walked in on the off-chance with the family. Turned out to be a great decision. Both service and food were excellent and the staff were fantastic with our 8 year old son.

My brother and I felt like some kind of giddy celebrities here, the staff made everyone feel super important and happy they were so SO nice and helpful! We had SUCH a fun night, incredible food, lovely atmosphere, cannot wait to come back :) thank you so much

Went here to celebrate a friends 60th birthday, there was about 14 of us and they catered for all very well. Would recommend a visit.

Had diner here with a friend, we arrived quite late in the evening, but we were very warmly welcomed. Great food and excellent service - very Friendly. Matin, the owner, was also very welcoming.

El concepto de que es más saludable para ti (menos aceite, menos sal, no GMS, etc.), decía en el menú era también un factor que contribuye y, podría decir la diferencia: la comida estaba más fresco, más auténtico y tenía una bonita 'hecha en casa" en vez de algo que es producida por una masa de comida para llevar.

Comida fantástica bengalí. Menú estupendo y el personal amable. Gran marisco y platos vegetarianos. El restaurante no parece ser mucho desde el exterior, pero no te desanimes por eso. La comida es simplemente consistentemente fabuloso!

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Manchester especially for takeaway. In fact, we prefer going here to anything on the curry mile. Very friendly service at the takeaway location which is across from the Southern Cemetery. Highly recommend!

Stopped in Chorlton with no pre-planned choice of restaurant on the way back from the cricket at Old Trafford. Looked good from outside so went in on the off chance the food would be as good as the place looked.Not disappointed at all!! Food superb, not overly expensive.Great choice on the menu! The food from Coriander is always high quality and delicious. The takeaway outlet looks uninspiring but don't be fooled the food is top notch. This is not like standard Indian fare which can sometimes have formulaic tastes. The flavours here are always zingy and everything tastes so fresh. Our family's favourite place for takeaway in Manchester.

This is one of our favourites in Chorlton. Really good food, friendly staff and good value for money! You won't be disappointed.

Recently returned to the Coriander after spending some time and money in other local curry houses. Whilst I've always found the food to be consistently good I feel the prices they are now charging for drinks is completely unnecessary, it's not the centre of town! Portions are always just about right though some may feel on the small side. Would return but won't be for a while now as there is so much to choose from in Chorlton there is better value else where.

Visited here tonight with my wife and 10 year old son. It's one of our favourite places to eat because the food quality is so much better than many other Indian eateries. We can vouch for the quality of the mains of Coriander's Special Aubergine and Coriander's Special Lamb, and highly recommend those, together with the Peshwari Naan. The Korma chicken was velvety creamy. We've been to this restaurant and the one at Southern Cemetery many times and never been disappointed by the food.

Went in Sunday night August the 20th with friends from New Zealand and relieved to say that there was plenty of tables free - normally when I go in its very busy.Food as usual was very good although they were a bit skimpy with the poppadum's.The issue I had and found embarrassing as I was with friends was the rush from the waiter to get the table cleared. He asked on three occasions were we finished when obviously we hadn't as the plates still had food on them. The last occasion really annoyed me as I still had food (tandoori chicken) on the hot plate it was delivered on - have you finished with it ? I was asked , no I haven't ! was the reply. Maybe he was in a rush to get home due to transport issues for example but whatever reason it didn't go down well.Lets hope this excellent restaurant (food wise) takes heed and educates its staff on customer service.

visited here yesterday 09/08/2017 listen I believe in paying that little extra 4 quality well let me tell you, this place isn't the cheapest you'll find but boy the foods delicious left feeling like a king poppadums were fresh crisp, not oily chutneys were delicious mains beautiful rice fluffy jockey's whips (chips 2 you) were not of the cheap variety and the mixed bread basket of naans , chapatis etc was delightful if you love everything Indian and like me like spicy food you cannot go wrong eating here as Arnie once said (I'll be back)

I have eaten at Coriander for over ten years since it's very humble beginnings across from Southern Cemetry. The menu is great for choice and I am yet to be disappointed by anything I have had and have only had rave reviews from the numerous friends I have taken there. The staff and the owner ensure your needs are met and will always enquire as to your satisfaction. I have had a number of special occasions at the tester aunts and never tire of the warm welcome and excellent food.

It's location is a little off the beaten track but the food is good quality. Different in style to the normal curry places i eat at, the sauce is much less fatty and greasy. Staff are always quick and give an accurate time of when food will be ready. Also they have a lot of dishes that ive never had before . Some are a miss but others a big hit. If your looking for curry thats a little bit different i would give coriander a go.
