Great food and a brilliant concept We were a group of four and all had different burgers, all very delicious and well cooked Great choice of wines and beers too and glad we booked in advance as a busy service A must try restaurant in Chippenham, we will be back as already decided on our next burgers!

Some of the best burgers I've ever tasted. Their truffle fries are delicious. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is cosy and cute.

We had a family meal to celebrate our daughter's 24th birthday. Loved the ambience in the restaurant- cosy but cleverly laid out. The decor is super, and love the lighting. Each of us had a different burger and they were ALL delicious. Seasoned fries and loaded fries too. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend this restaurant for great value and great flavours!

Have fully left the venue but I'm still thinking about how GOOD that gluten free buttermilk chicken burger was. Holy shit. It's not on the menu, but if you're gluten free and you have a craving.. this is the place to go. They made it up fresh to order, and it was absolutely divine. My partner can eat gluten and raved non stop about his meal too. So so good. Great service. Awesome vibe. Unreal food 🙏

Thank you for a fantastic evening at COQburger! Joel and Will were excellent, giving us a warm welcome and great service, while Ollie and Cornelia worked magic in the kitchen with those delicious burgers. After hearing great things, we came in with high expectations, and they were more than met. From the service to the food, everything was spot on. A perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some top-notch meals. Can’t wait to come back for round two!

A really great concept and a cosy and atmospheric restaurant. It’s relaxed and slightly rustic and the food is good. We had the Mac & Cheese chicken burger which was good - the Mac cheese was perhaps a little overdone and the chicken isn’t quite the breast meat you get another well-known establishments, but still good. Beware the chilli jam!! The chilli loaded fries are awesome! Book in advance to avoid disappointment. There are vegetarian options and a well-stocked bar too. We will certainly be going back to try out all the other culinary offerings! Parking is on street, or you can use the car park down the road and wander up the hill.

Hands down the best burger place (possibly in the world?). It’s a Chippenham must! Have had many wonderful meals from Coq but last night meant I needed to leave a review. We moved into our new house and their kitchen shuts at 9pm but they kindly cooked the food for us and let us pick it up a little late (just as the last customers were leaving). We were so grateful for this and it made our day! The mac & cheese fries are out of this world & breakfast is amazing too. All staff are so genuine, friendly and passionate which we love. Thank you so much for an always 10/10 meal.

First time going today with friends and family and I had the special burger. The food was amazing and I went for the spicy burger will chilli jam. I'm gonna feel it tomorrow. 🔥 😞. Had my very first stein and it went down a treat. Will definitely return to sample more if the tasty food and enjoy the superb service from the staff

Check your bill. Ours came to £22.93 including the mandatory 10% tip. We were charged £29.42 and were unable to obtain a clear explanation for the error. Simple mistakes happen but, if that was the case here, no good reason was given. It’s a pity, as the server was charming. Following the response from the restaurant, I’ll clarify that we had no issue with the mandatory tip; we often leave more. It was being overcharged £6+ for our order and receiving no clear explanation for the error when we queried it. We would never walk away and complain after the event, nor do we leave such reviews lightly, as we understand their possible impact. Hopefully patrons will report in the future on the fact that they haven’t experienced such errors, or, if they have, they received a satisfactory explanation for it.

The food was excellent and the portions generous.

I've been here a few times with colleagues and we will certainly continue to come here. The restaurant is quite small-- there are two tables with under 20 seats in the restaurant which leads to a cosy intimate vibe. The food is very good-- it is all chicken if you hadn't guessed by the name. What they have done is choose their ingredient and prepare it very well. No matter what I order I end up jealous of what someone else has, its all good! All of the burgers can be made vegetarian with cauliflower replacing the chicken. As a vegetarian, normally I sigh when I see it's just a bit of cauliflower as the meat replacement, but they do a very good job of it here-- I would certainly recommend for vegetarians. It isn't clear that everything can be made vegetarian on the menu, but it can. The guys that run the restaurant are really friendly and are happy to chat. Overall this restaurant are on to a winning formula, and really add something to the food scene in chippenham. Don't forget to finish your meal with the baked goods on the counter.

Lovely cosy restaurant in central Chippenham. Staff are very friendly, and service was great. Being such a small place, there's no chance of being missed. Burger was yum, fries and arancini were perfectly cooked and seasoned. We're not local, but would happily recommend! If we happen to be in the area again, we'd definitely stop by.

I recently visited Coq Restaurant to meet some friends from Bristol. (This was deemed middle ground from London). The food overall was amazing, and the gentleman who served us was very helpful and knowledgable in explaining each dish. Would highly recommend

My wife and I had a brunch here this morning 🌄 and made most welcome 🙏 by the proprietors. My wife had 4 bacon 🥓 rashers in a sourdough sandwich 🥪 and I had 3 rashers in a brioche bun 😋 very nice Indeed. Will be back to try out their famous burgers 🍔.

Please avoid - so shocked at all these good reviews! Went to this place during a weekend stay in the countryside after seeing so many overwhelmingly positive reviews and was very unimpressed. I now believe these reviews must have been planted by friends and disingenuous. The katsu chicken was awful had a strange lemony flavour and completely coated the chicken leaving it really soggy and unpleasant. The spicy Coq burger was bland; unmarinated and mushy also and definitely not the best chicken burger I’ve eaten as many reviews seem to say. Chips were the only ok thing most of the food went uneaten.

We travelled all the way from Madrid, Spain as we are seeking around the world for the best burger ever. Yes, I know it sounds idiotic, but it’s an excuse like any other to travel and gather with f&f’s. The quality of this place is just unbelievable. In fact, I know it’s something not sustainable in time: the place will grow, will open new stores and quality will drop for sure. But in the meanwhile, yes my friend: you have in this small spot a cook with open eyes, experience and tons on love in every sandwich he prepares. I went for the Korean hamburger and it was like traveling to the very heart of Asia!!!! The waiter was super nice, and I can only wish this team the very best!! Coq-gratulations!!

Came here on a Saturday for lunch; Lovely friendly guys, great service, tasty chicken burgers, delicious "coq"tails, huge steins of beer & a relaxed vibe - perfect for chilling with friends! (Just to flag: the indoor seating is at large, high tables with stools and they don't have baby/toddler seating, but there is also a bit of outdoor seating at lower tables if the weather's good).

Great food, great drinks, great dessert

We stopped here on our way back to the car park on a warm day. We just wanted refreshments. Excellent service by the staff. Next time, we'll try the food, it certainly smelt good.

The food here is simply amazing. It's absolutely delicious. You know you have a good burger when you make a right mess of it! If your ordering as take-away, then I couldn't complain. However when sitting in, as they have mentioned on their site, they're a small restaurant so expect to be sat close to others. This is very true. We sat down and had a lovely meal. However once a table of 7 were seated next to us, we felt uncomfortablely close to the group (as though we were part of the same group). We very quickly got up, paid, and left. It's a shame because other than this part. It was an absolutely amazing experience. I hope that Coq plans to expand to a larger restaurant in Chippenham to allow for more comfortable seating. If that were the case they'd have a regular customer in me.

Very nice little place its owned by 2 brothers how are nice. It was upsetting thay didn't give me a job but ow well. Over all is worth a try.🍟🍔😃😁👍

What an unbelievable spot! I was down In Chippenham for work and met some friends here for a meal, firstly what a lovely restaurant, an intimate dining experience with lovely decor, the staff are next level, lovely people with great chat and banter, a really good menu with some fantastic specials, if you love Coq and Balls look no further!

Really really delicious. The veggie bang coq was one of the best veggie burgers I've had, it was humungous, full of such flavour and just a real treat. It may be my best burger yet tipping HubBox off the top spot (also highly recommend). The fries were fab, the cocktails were fab, really really good, totally worth the reviews, absolutely yum and lovely friendly service.

Great experience and amazing food! My parents chose this location for lunch so I didn't get a chance to look at the menu before hand and was not aware most of the menu items had dairy, however staff were very accommodating of my lactose intolerance. I ordered the Coq & waffle and the chef substituted the buttermilk chicken for grilled chicken and switched the Brioche bun for another waffle. The grilled chicken was very well cooked and juicy. Would definitely reccomend this location

I had a juicy mouthful of coq and it wasn't hard to swallow at all. Really good portions. Not too salty. Great staff great drinks. Really enjoyed it.

Super quick service, my Coq and Waffle was filling to say the least, ended up all around my face and dripping down my chin! Made eye contact while forcing that delicious masterpiece down, girlfriend asked why I don't eat out like that more often, I said its just good Coq! Love this place! Really nice vibe and the food was great. The place was a little small, so waiters had to squeeze behind me to get to the other party at the end of our table, but other than that, all good. The waiting staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I'd come here again.

Visited for a birthday treat. Great communication even before our dining experience one of our guests was gluten intolerant and they were more than happy to accommodate our request. Food was amazing service was great definitely visit again or at the very least get a take out.

Really wanted to have a good experience here. The Coqtails were fantastic and my partner said his burger was spot on. The fries were good too, but sadly, my veggie burger tasted suspiciously fishy. I don't know whether seaweed is used in it but I had to take all the cauliflower out because it was pretty grim. I think it gave me food poisoning, but hey, hoping that's a one off, maybe will try again another time, as other than that it seems like a great place so would be a shame to not go back. Just hope they get better at cooking cauliflower 😆

Truly brilliant food. We went for my partner’s birthday this weekend, and the staff were super friendly, helpful, and all round brilliant. The food was amazing, menu simple but truly effective, and we all couldn’t believe we hadn’t been before. Will absolutely be heading to Coq again!!

Came here for a birthday lunch, and my GOD the food was absolutely brilliant. I would 100% recommend the Spicy Coq, and also the buttermilk drumsticks with garlic mayo which are to die for! Other than the food, the service is spectacular. Everyone working there was so so lovely and welcoming, and they only make sure you have a great time with the food. I would say though, this place is quite small, so not fit for huge gatherings, but definitely a must-try!

If you are looking for somewhere with great food, a good atmosphere and top service, then I’d definitely recommend visiting Coq. A fab spot!

I’ve been an avid Coq fan for well over a year now and have sampled the entire menu multiple times. Hands down the best burgers I’ve ever tasted, the combination of flavours is incredible and their breakfast menu is equally outstanding. I don’t know how but they make bacon taste better than bacon! Really nice atmosphere and a great decor. Will, Olly, Joel and the rest of the guys couldn’t do more to make you feel welcome, they’ve really created something special there. If you haven’t been yet then more fool you.

Loved it!! The venue may be small, but it's big on flavour!. Hopefully gets well supported by the locals so they can move to bigger premises! Book ahead of time so you can sit down, but the takeaways were busy all the time we were there. 5*

Absolutely perfect! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left everything was outstanding. Couldn't fault anything. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, Coqtails were fantastic (highly recommend the hickory smoked old fashioned). Food, where to begin. I had the Korean BBQ burger, tender, juicy and crispy buttermilk chicken breast, big chunk of chargrilled pork and the sauce was on point. From one chef to another just want to say absolutely phenomenal. 10 out of 10. Definitely coming back and recommending to everybody.

Their burgers are fresh, cooked perfectly and taste great too. We got spicy coq, bang coq and mac n cheese fries. I loved the burger but the spicy coq was not spicy, it was more sweet. I think remove the chilli jam and then it is great. Mac and cheese chips are good but nothing special. Service is good though and so is the atmosphere. Would I visit again? Yes

This place rocks. They do serve asahi for Octoberfest which is a questionable choice but the food is excellent, the staff is nothing but friendly and Riesling was all right, too.

I had the veggie option so didn't have a burger as such, but the combination of flavours was fantastic. Could easily have chosen from 5/6 options on the menu. The staff were also really welcoming. Great place. And whoever came up with the mac n cheese fries deserves a bonus 😋

Recommended a couple of drinks for me and my wife and I have to say this is a brilliant place If only we had something like this in Cornwall. Exciting food and drinks and fun to be in. My favourite place for take out. I’ve been coming to Coq since it opened I love the food and the staff are super nice.

First time there this evening and we are ready to return. Food was absolutely delicious and the truffle and parmesan fries were just a complete delight. Service was fast and the staff very friendly. Only criticism - you might want to install a ceiling fan for the two weeks a year when we see the sun. Count on us returning.

Best customer service, quiky place with great atmosphere and even better is the food. This is definitely my go to for a takeaway
