Good is just okay but the service is so slow they are like sloths watch them when you go in if you go in

Very poor quality food, I know it’s only a chippy but still… The place could do so much better given the location. The person who served me was wearing sunglasses and gave the impression he’d either a heavy night or on something. The one at Bicton looks and is so much better

Anemic chips, fish overcooked to the point the ends of the battered pieces are rock hard, curry sauce has weird tasteless lumps in it and the inside of the battered sausages are as soft on the way in as they will be on the way out. Not really sure how this gaff is still going. Extra star as still rather have this there then another betting shop

Dry chips, dry, old tasting fish. Food doesn’t appear to be fresh at all. Can of coke was nice. I don’t like being asked for cash everytime either to be honest. Need to up their game.

Chip Shop has no atmosphere considering being in a respected community chip shop looks run down. Staff are miserable tried making convo get ignored I ordered my food but staff kept can do I wanted extra food then pestered me to pay in cash rather than card which I believe is very unprofessional. Food is very over priced considering what you get portion control of the food is shocking. Food itself well fish had more batter than fish chips weren’t fresh can tell been left since lunch. Overall chip shop has so much potential being in the area it is in

Rude staff, kept shouting ‘yes please’ despite me being the only person in the shop and me telling them countless times I didn’t know what I wanted so was looking on the horrible greasy boards. Very over priced. £7.50 for a small fish and chips in a tray with a small dollop of uncooked hard mushy peas? Tasted disgusting also, fish greasy, peas undercooked, can’t comment on the chips they went in the bin. Will never come here again

do you dream of the days when fish and chips were better? come to copthorne! the batter was light and crispy, the battered sausage wasn't greasy but instead tasty and not in inferior batter! the chips were heavensent... not had better except in whitby! massive, massive recommend! also sincere gratitude to owner/chef/server who had to put up witb my autistic self having just picked mum up fromhospital, busy updating family members, and incapable of eye contact or chat... didn't make me feel stupid or treat me with impatience as many around shrewsbury do! thank you! edit: 31st august 2023 came back because we just don't want mediocre fish and chips elsewhere so we just come here every few months for the best in north shropshire! the haddock is twice as big as anywhere else and i was appreciative that i was told an accurate time of how long it would take... mum has always been a 'eat the fish and leave the batter' type but even she was searching for last remains of batter to eat, that's how good it is! and again, thanks to owner and server for putting up with a very autistic, very anxious me oversharing and wittering because social interactions are hard. edit: september 26 again, top notch, fresh, cronchy batter and tasty fish! getting to be known which is lovely to most but agonising for this anxiety suffering millennial. but still the best in north shropshire and worth our monthly visits!

Horrible decor, terrible atmosphere, rude and uninterested service, server wanted me to pay cash, pie and chips cost me £6, pie was distinctly average, and chips were some of the worst I've ever had. Definitely won't be returning.

This is such a shame as this fish and chips place used to be brilliant. The lovely lady in there has gone. The staff were ok, not very welcoming or upbeat. We had sausage and chips, chicken meat and chips with salad and doner meat and chips with salad. We'll the sausage and chip were fine. The fat from the chicken meat drowned the salad and chips and was tasteless and extremely greasy and the doner tasted of fat fat fat ( I no its not the healthiest anyway but it usually should taste of spices and a little lamb haha). We had the above and it was £24 absolutely shocking. Won't be going back I'm afraid

By far the least inviting chippy I have ever been in. The guy serving moves far too slow and seem detached from reality. The donor meat was watery and bland. The chips were disgusting. I tried it twice. Never again!

To be fair the food is reasonably good, my only gripe is the owner wants cash and frowns when you pay by card, my response to the owner was you can pay your tax like the rest of us. This isn't the first time I have had this.

Tried ordering lunch from here multiple times, but every time they cancel the order and then list themselves as ''closed'' even though they are open. Why have yourselves on Deliveroo if you just constantly cancel orders?! Waste of bloody time and useless.

Not sure you could call these edible mushy peas looking at the colour! Fish and chips were ok though and the staff were nice.

Sent my son in with £10 note, food came to £3.50 got £1.50 back in change, initially argued on the phone and they hung up, complained to manager and eventually got the correct change.

Ordered lamb, they gave me chicken. Requested more vegetables, they gave me a whole bag of meat with two slices of onion...

Not impressed at all.... Could've greased my car engine it was so greasy.... £8.90 for fish chips n curry sauce with a bottle of pop... Imagine my disappointment when I realised the chips weren't gold plated... Will NOT be back, unless my car runs low on oil....

Just went here on my dinner time to grab some chips only had a handful had to throw them away they where inedible looked and tasted like they had been through the fryer 3times. Looked like there where different batches of chips in the same portion. Won’t be going there again I’ll stick to a meal deal out the CoOp next door 🤢👍🏼

Went here for lunch after a visit to the hospital. Covid rules followed as expected. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ordered lunch for 2 and cost around £3 each for lunch meal deal. The food was really nice and the price as you can see was amazing. Portions were massive and my meal for one had so much left it fed my partner when I got home as well. Will visit again if near the hospital without a second thought. And bonus its next door too a big co-op for you few bits of shopping if needed.

Chips are nice and the place is good for meat eaters however there is a disregard for the needs of vegetarians/vegans

I used to dislike this place because although the fish is always excellent the chips were always so thin. Last few visits the chips have been good and chunky. Just how I like them.

To the skinny girl with brown hair on the till cheer up and learn how to smile at your customers, the look you gave Us when my partner asked for mayo was disgusting you looked at me like I killed someone! The boss came near you and you pulled another dirty look, you wouldn’t know what customer service was even if it smacked you in the face, you need to go on a course or something or leave! No please no Thankyous, nothing!! I love the food here but that really put me off, I work at kfc and it isn’t hard to be nice to your customers

An average fish and chip shop. Service is friendly enough. The batter on the fish is the thick doughy stuff that seems to be common nowadays. The fish was reasonable but I've had better and the chips were quite oily.

Not clean, food is okay, staff friendly. Management are not friendly at all, have witnessed them being verbal to staff on multiple occasions. Hygiene standards are out of the window by the lady who "works" in there i.e. sits down all day with no shoes on!

Seems to be closed more than it's open,particularly in the afternoon,closing whenever you feel like is not good business.

I think sometimes reviews left are from the competition trying to ruin others reputation. I'm not a local guide but only trust their reviews. The food here is fairly good, portions are generous. Sometimes quality is better than quantity though. Their homemade flat bread is lovely. Chips depend on the time of year and potatoes used. Generally not bad and certainly deserving a minimum 4 stars

The guy in this place is the misarablist man I have ever met in my life. Upon arrival, His first words were "What do ya want"? We were blown away! Asked for a simple chips and curry. A hugh "Sigh" was let off, and over he went to pour the curry over the chips. (obviously took it out of him) Needless to say, No I won't be back.

Naans are good, chicken kebab meat was also good but donner meat was not great and there was a strange gritty substance on the salad so not properly washed or contaminated or something else nasty. Also chips were free but they should be when they're so soggy and greasy.

The worst service I have ever had. Paid for a donor nan which included chips and a chicken kebab in pitta with chips which took 10 mins due to the lack of staff co-operation in helping me with my dairy allergy and so find food I could actually eat. They couldn't. Be bothered. Paid £11.50 got home 8 miles away to find the donor nan missing. Rang to tell them and the guy said ring back I am busy and hung up on me. Absolutely disgusted. Will never go there again And tell everyone how awful service and food was.

Awful. Very over-priced, poor food and the staff don't listen. Drowned my food with mint sauce when I asked for a little and barely any chilli when I asked for lots. Service from male staff surly at best and have previously been charged different prices to what is on the price lists. Went back, against better judgement, due to lack of options as pressed for time after vowing not to the last time. This time I will stick to that vow. Well worth travelling a little further for better quality and value.
