Copper Restaurant in Down

We had family visiting from Canada and booked Copper for 9 June 2022, it was a fabulous meal from start to finish. Service was excellent and so cheerful. Steak & lobster surf & turf outstanding, in fact all the meal was for all 8 of us. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back

Really enjoyed our meal at Copper last night the food was fabulous, every dish well prepared and beautifully presented. Will definitely be back and well worth a trip to Newcastle for their food alone.

A relaxed Sunday lunch. Two of us had the special which was grilled lobster 🦞 with fries, garlic butter & watercress salad. It was absolutely amazing - perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The other main was a sirloin cooked on the Josper grill - one of the best steaks he’d eaten! The service was friendly and efficient and we got to congratulate Leo the chef whose menu is based on fresh local produce! A great dining experience - highly recommended!!

We thought we’d give Copper a try during our stay at the Slieve Donard hotel. We are so glad we did! A gem of a place, dimly lit and very atmospheric, we had our meal in the upstairs restaurant. The food was as good as I’ve ever had and tremendous value for money given the quality. To top it off, the staff and management was extremely friendly and hospital. Thoroughly recommended.

Very good atmosphere and the food was excellent would highly recommend this restaurant. The meal was shared plates. Very good Price and the wine was lovely.

My partner and I visited sunday evening. First visit. Staff friendly and pleasant we both had the scallops. Very nice however I got 3 tiny scallops my partner got 3 nice plump ones. Hmmm. We both went for the roast beef with all the trimmings. When the meals came looked very nice but on closer inspection 2 tiny pieces of carrots and two slightly bigger pieces of parsnip all dried up awful. Roast potato that I sawed through my partner didn't even bother again awful. The beef my 2 slices were very thin and my partners nice and thick.beef mash and gravy tasted nice but really not worth the price nor were the scallops at £9.50. My partner had a bottle of coors £4.95 seriously this can be bought in Tescos for 50p. Shocking.Complained at the till re veg and waitress said she'd pass it on. Will we return? Unlikely.

Had a table booked for last night for 6pm. Arrived to find it closed. I found out that two chefs were self isolating as a covid close contact. I never received a phone call, text or voicemail. Very poor. Restaurants complain when bookings don't show up but it needs to work both ways. A quick call is all it takes

Every course was delicious. I highly recommend the crab to start and duck as main course if you normally enjoy duck. It's the best meal I have ever had and I do like eating out and eating nice food. I also thought for the quality and service that it was reasonably priced. If you book this restaurant you will not be disappointed.

Was in on Sunday, got the mussels to start and the braised short-rib rigatoni for my main. Each course was superb, even the wheaten bread and the butter that came with the mussels was really delicious and freshly baked. The mussels themselves were super fresh, and all the ingredients in that Thai green curry broth were fresh and crunchy, I would have eaten the broth with a spoon lol. Main course was exceptional also, very flavourful and tender meat, it's clear that the freshest ingredients are being used and that great care and pride is taken in their dishes. Very generous portions too. Service was spot on, two fellas were attentive and casual without being overbearing. Food was good value. Will absolutely return when I can.

Had the pleasure of eating here with friends for lunch last week. The restaurant decor is beautiful and the food was great and very reasonably priced. Service was great as well. Worth a return visit next time I'm in the area.

I had the chicken supreme and my boyfriend had the hake plus we shared the parmesan fries. The food was gorgeous hands down. We went whenever it was 50% off with the eat out to help out scheme but I would definitely come back again. The only thing I have to say is they didn't have our booking down in their book even though we emailed and got a phone call from them to confirm our table... luckily we were still able to get a table anyway.

Fantastic meal start to finish. From lovely decor, fantastic service to the unbelievable food I thoroughly enjoyed my whole experience at copper. Staff were so friendly and helpful- cocktails and drinks were delicious. Would highly recommend the rose wine and the champagne colada! Had the pork belly for main which was amazing and steak was ‘one of the best he’s ever had’ and then the charred pineapple for dessert, so different and very delicious. Very reasonable for such a delicious meal and great service. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Newcastle. Thanks so much for a lovely experience!!

We had an exceptional meal here, the quality of the food served was excellent. We had a lovely pot of mussels to share for starter, a beautiful pasta dish with wild mushroom, truffle and tender beef full of flavour and a beautifully cooked Sirloin steak with garlic potatoes. The cocktails are great also, would highly recommend the espresso martini. We had a staycation this summer both in Newcastle and Portrush, the meal we had in Copper was by far the best from both trips. Looking forward to a return visit to Copper.

From start to finish we did not have an enjoyable experience. After hearing so much about Copper maybe our expectations were too high, who knows. Having to ask twice for drinks and then receiving them after our starters had arrived, undercooked steaks and a forgotten dessert. Service was below par as well with no apologies for late drinks or even an explanation as to why they took so long. There are lots of better restaurants than this in Newcastle!

Visited this restaurant with my husband at Eat out to help out program. The place was quite busy for Monday evening. I ordered whole sole with potatoes and broccoli. It was absolutely delicious! My husband got steak and he really enjoyed his food too. Good portions. I would definitely recommend this place! The only downside is the waiting time. We were waiting for 40-45 min.
