Copper Beech Restaurant in Dumfries & Galloway

Staying at the hotel we decided to enjoy a meal in the hotel at the Cooper Beech. The staff were great and very attentive and the food - fish pie and hunters chicken were both exceptionally tasty and more than enough for a great night in. Well priced given you are fairly isolated and the drinks are reasonable too - highly recommend this place. Cheers

Great food this I think is going to be a regular place to eat. This is our second visit and it didn't disappoint. My son had the Duck which he loved, I had the burger with bacon l, chips were amazing, for dessert my son had the carrot cake sundae, carrot cake was best I've ever had, I had the Ferrero Roche pavlova and it was great,would definitely have any of these dishes again. Can also recommend the posh fish finger sandwich which isn't the normal fish finger sandwich this actually has a fish fillet in it, hubby loved it found it very filling. We are staying here in November for our anniversary which I'm so looking forward to, have booked Solway suite

Really poor experience at the Copper Beech Restaurant at the Hetland Hotel. We arrived in the restaurant with nobody to great us. It took 4 minutes to be greeted and seated. The young man who took our order was pleasant but did not have the basic knowledge. I asked what draft lagers were on offer and he said he wasn’t sure as he didn’t drink. The restaurant was very well decorated and smart with feature lighting. Unfortunately the restaurant ambiance was terrible due to children running back and forth from another part of the restaurant. Very poor service throughout our visit. I made the server aware of my nut allergy and he said he was pretty sure it would be fine but if I found any nuts they would replace the meal. An unbelievable response! Irresponsible and dangerous responses to a life threatening condition. The food was just average and not worth the £111 price tag for two courses for 2 adults and one child. The Caesar salad did not have a true Caesar dressing, it was more like Mayo with pepper. The pate came with just one small slice of garlic bread. The “rack of lamb” was two small think cutlets with a limp of goats cheese on the side. The fondant potato was overcooked and watery. Nobody came to see how our meals were during eating. Will not return.

Dinner menu was pretty decent. I had haddock & chips which was ok, but not exceptional. Breakfast faired better. Full Scottish AND continental options were available, with bottomless tea, coffee & juices.

This is our second trip and we can’t fault the food or service at all - it really does get top marks. We stayed back in November and had two days of breakfast, lunch and dinner. This time we have had dinner, breakfast and an afternoon tea -fantastic!

Dined there last month and the food was fantastic along with the service that we received. The staff were sticking to the Cov'd guidelines, tables, seating and even the condiments were cleaned down as soon as guests left the tables. Unfortunately we couldn't help noticing that one or two guests from a wedding party didn't follow the Cov'd guidelines and walked back and forth through the restaurant without anyone say something to them. Many thanks to all concerned for making it such a great visit. we will definitely be back in the future and would recommend it to friends and family.
