We went in for a light lunch & choose from the menu to suit our pocket. However when we ordered at the counter the woman serving charged us over what we had calculated the bill to be as we always do!.When we questioned the total she said" oh everything has gone up but we havnt had time to change the prices on the menu yet!!! Omg I think that's terrible! The food we had was not worth what we paid. I had a mushroom omelette which was bland unseasoned & had rubbery mushrooms just stuffed in folded omelette!!

Lovely staff at this cafe but they do not give you enough milk & extra hot water for the tea so have to keep going up to the counter to ask & when I do they just give you half of a small jug of hot water. The tea is lovely but can be quite strong so we like to ask for more hot water so we can get a good 2 cups each out if one pot.Apart from that all great.

We visited the Secret Garden on a wet Saturday afternoon and was welcomed by a lovely young member of staff who I'm going to name (Talia) she was so polite and chatty which was a lovely warm welcome and made us feel very settled as my elderly mother can become very anxious around people due to dementia so thankyou to (Talia). Once we had settled at our table the four of us browsed the menu i then went up and ordered for us all. The ordering process was simple enough and i paid by card. The cafe is very clean but very dated and could do with a revamp and some money putting in to it to make us want to come back. Another Lovely member of staff called (Richard) chatted with us and again was very polite and was on hand if we needed any assistance its so nice when the staff make time to chat and say hello, Not something you get in all cafes. We all enjoyed our drinks but sadly although the food was presented very nicely and served very promptly the quality of the food was a huge let down for what we paid for it. There was no soup available due to no ingredients to make the soup which would have been ideal for my mother and her eating issues. We expected the quality to better than what it used to be when it was a cafe a few years ago but the new owner has clearly cut costs and is using cheaper options but charging more which is a little sad when people are struggling this day in age. All in all the only reason we would return is to experience the warm and welcoming feeling from the staff to whom we did not complain to about the food as they seemed to be busy cleaning and serving and its clearly not their responsibility when it comes to the quality of the food used maybe have a chat with the owner and voice the views of customers. Many of my friends and family have visited and felt the same and the new owners are never around to voice concerns too i wonder why!. Sad that its left to the staff to get the brunt end of the owners bad management and money making!

My partner and I called as we'd called to Driffield for the morning. We ordered 2 breakfasts my My partners bacon was fatty and hard sausages were overdone and the tomatoes were cold. Also we ordered tea for two and there only seemed to be enough for one. Also I noticed that the table next to us ordered a toasted tea-cake seemed to arrive burnt.

As the cafe had recently re-opened we visited. £1.85 for a can of Pepsi !!!! £1.65 a slice of lemon drizzle cake Salmon sandwich had very small bones. When ordering my sandwich was told very brusquely “we aren’t doing salad at the moment” then I had to repeat that I wanted it on brown bread. Sandwich was served with a side salad !! And was only cut in half, not very presentable. Partner ordered a sausage sandwich, the bread cake wasn’t fresh. All this for just under £16.00 was very steep. The floor looked filthy, and the facilities weren’t any better either. Before opening, the owners should have decorated and given the restaurant a new, clean, fresh, and appealing look. When you sit in the conservatory you have dirty cream/grey exterior walls to look at. No I wouldn’t recommend this cafe to anyone.

Service slow, no menus or prices, no ketchup or brown sauce as not been delivered. Ordered bacon sandwich for me and mum, breadcake dry and tasted stale, bacon nice but only 2 rashers in very poor breadcake. Was told could only have latte or cappuccino, all I wanted was a normal coffee. Poor value for money. Extremely disappointed, appreciate they only opened 3 days before but they was not equipped appropriately.

Went in for a quick fried breakfast and a no-sugar fizzy drink. The only no-sugar fizzy drink available was Sprite (they need more choice of no-sugar drinks). The sausages in the fried breakfast weren't cooked for long enough (the sausages were pale-coloured throughout), there was a lot of fat on the bacon (which I cut off, but the bacon was cooked fine), the toast was barely toasted, and for some reason, there was no brown sauce available in the cutlery/salt/pepper area. When I asked for brown sauce, which it is normal to have available in eating places, I was told that they didn't have any; I was quite surprised at this, as it is normal to have red/brown sauce available, especially when selling fried breakfasts, bacon/sausage sandwiches, etc., as people normally eat these kinds of food with red/brown sauce, and it used to be available. A lot of the staff seemed to be new, as they didn't know how to use the till and the coffee-making equipment, and they were rushing around the place, but were otherwise polite; I and several other customers were waiting a long time in the queue, due to staff confusion with using the till and the coffee-making equipment. The Secret Garden Cafe has been great, until this visit. I think the staff are probably doing their best, under seemingly difficult circumstances, but it is not as good as it used to be. I don't know if there has been a change of management/ownership, but if so, it is not for the better. I hope that things improve there, in the future.

Firstly I would like to point out I have regularly visited this cafe for years (at least 10) No complaints with the food at all. A good variety of snacks or light meals and always a good selection of sweet treats. Unfortunately since opening after the Covid lockdown a new member of staff has made a huge difference to the whole atmosphere in there. She always appears moody and not someone who you can pass the time of day with in fact I can say she is rude. Clearly she doesn’t want to be there. This is so disappointing as it stands out all the other staff work as a team, they are pleasant and come across as happy in their job. It has come up in conversation with other customers about this member of staff and by no means am I the only one with this opinion. I loved going in there to sit and have a coffee and a little passing conversation but have to say I now think twice, it’s just not the same and it stands out why. Sorry June you have to go !!

Having had a really nice lunch in Scarborough Secret Garden a few days ago we thought we'd pop in to the Driffield café today. How disappointing. I had a panini which was little more than warm bread with stained grill marks to give the impression it had been grilled, and was falling apart. The brie slice was so thin you could see through it. Side salad consisted of a smattering of sliced lettuce, half a cherry tomato and a thin slice of cucumber which was neatly sliced from edge to centre so that it could decorate the edge of a cocktail glass.Never again.

We are regulars here and the staff are usually great, but Saturday morning we went in with family who were visiting, we ordered, but only two meals were served, my husband went to ask were the third meal was, and the new chef had not read the order properly and missed the third meal, she was told again by counter staff, when she brought out the meal she had missed out the extras which had been written down and the staff had mentioned it when mistake on order was seen, God knows what planet the chef was on, because she got something so easy wring. This is a let down to a once excellent cafe. Please get a chef who can read and understand other staff.

I wanted one of the meat dishes in a Yorkshire pudding on the menu but they were not available (only curry, corned beef hash and one other) so I chose a ham omlette thinking it would be cooked from scratch. Instead I got a preformed egg omlette with a slice of ham placed in the middle of it. It was, frankly bland and tasteless. Nipped in for a beer whilst out shopping in Beverly. It's a little difficult to find as it's on the next street back from the market. It's a bit like Dr Who's Tardis, looks small from the outside, but it's not, its massive inside. Lots of the usual spoons drinks on offer, plus lots of real ales on the bear festival menu.
