Setting was lovely by the river, we were meeting up with friends we had not seen for a while. The evening was spoilt by the lack of service received by the serving colleagues. Meal brought out and no acknowledgement from them of what they were. In fact the colleague just stood there with the plates and did not say a word. The same colleague then came out and proceeded to drop my plate to the table in front of me. At around 10pm we were told they were calling last orders. Not what I expected on a Friday night. The whole experience would have suited a Fawlty Towers seen!!

My partner and I came here for a date lunch with the chocolate doggo! Incredible service from Alexs and Tim today! We felt very welcome and no request was too stupid! Lunch set course was an absolute bargain. Drinks were lush and the restaurant is very beautiful and incredible views! Thank you!

We arrived at Coombe Cellars and the place is absolutely fantastic. The views are great and the restaurant is lovely. However, we were shown to our seats and were not informed that it wasn't table service, which is fine but it meant that we took a bit of time to order. Then we ordered the food - 3 lots of pork belly with scallops, lamp rump, linguine with scallops, and a burger. It took close to an hour for the food to come out and everyone's plate was piping hot - which generally means it has been sat under a heat lamp for a while. The waiter did not say a word when he brought the food out and chose to instead angle the plates down a bit to show the food and not tell anyone what it was. After figuring out what was what, he then proceeded to nearly drop the food onto two of the guests as the plate slid out of his hand from a height (I guess because the plates were so hot). He then did not apologise for this. The food was mediocre at best and for what we paid it really was NOT good value for money. One of the pork belly dishes came without crackling and the other two did. We paid an extra £4 for the linguine to have scallops (notice the s on the end there, that means plural) but it only came out with one scallop which was a bit rubbery. Overall, the place was lovely, the food was overpriced, and the service was shocking.

We visited the Coombe Cellars yesterday, Sunday. The venue was booked on-line and a window seating for four people was requested. We arrived half an hour early to enjoy a drink and registered at the desk. We were told that they had us a table as requested but was not quite ready. Not a problem at all as we were early and was fetched from the bar area when they were ready for us. All was going well and the seating was good with the lovely views. This was really the end of the good bits and things did not go well from then on. We had two roast chickens and two trio of roast being beef, pork & chicken. It arrived in about 20 minutes but what a let down, the presentation was not great. It was dried out with little gravy and we had to request more gravy. The beef was one small slice and dried out, the pork was a very small square of belly pork and the chicken a dried out small chicken leg. We were expecting succulent sliced meats. Roast potatoes; well what roast potatoes, three very small potatoes hidden underneath the other items. When found, one was undercooked, one was so over cooked it look as if it had been hanging around did not attempt to find the third. The yorkshire pudding was as dry as a crisp and attempting to cut into it set splinters going everywhere. As a whole very poor. The ladies roast chicken was a small piece of chicken breast but again dry and over cooked. None of the four of us could finish the meals with mine sent back hardly touched. The other three meal put together was at least another serving and a half. We a local business people who eat out 2 or 3 times a month and this has to be the worst we have experienced. I do not read or do feedbacks normally as they are not always accurate and let my own experience judge things. I have written this feedback as I feel strongly about our poor experience. It will be interesting to see the managers reply to this! Will it be the same as all the other poor reviews but nothing changes in the pub kitchen and the food quality. There are plenty of very good pubs and restaurants all within 3 to 4 miles which have fully trained, proper chiefs who pride themselves on local food produce, good quality meats and great presentational skills. A very good sunday roast at these places will be between £17 and £24 and much more enjoyable. Or the alternative maybe is the cheaper national Tim Martin owned outlets which may do as good a roast (don't know) and a drink for around £14. In a nutshell please avoid and have a look on-line at other outlets in the area.

Location is lovely, staff are always good and helpful, food isn't always good. I had a terrible roast today. Potatoes tasted chewy and old, Yorkshire pudding was thick and spongy, chicken dry. 4/10 for food today, but other times it's been better.

Views was amazing amd food was lovely and well presented would recommend this to any one the lamb rump was so delicious

Great location and generally good food but as others have indicated a very long wait of over an hour for any food and long delays between courses. Long wait for drinks. Serving staff were pleasant and clearly could see the problem but unable to do anything to improve the service for which an automatic 10% charge is added. Thinking we were taking our visitors to a premium establishment we were severely disappointed with the mediocre experience. Gluten free limited selection because of no separate fryer. One meal forgotten which curiously only added an extra 10min wait for one of our guests. Truly disappointing.

Popped in for an early coffee with some residents from a local care home. Very nice coffee!

Very poor. Waited ages for meals. Watch out if your gluten free as they share fryers. I'd say if you want a nice meal this is best avoided.

Had a lovely boat trip which stopped at this fabulous inn. Alex was a great host,would highly recommend and will return.

Great Views lovely Atmosphere staff friendly and the food was delicious

This place is in an idyllic location, literally purched on the shore of the Teign estuary. The road approaching the restaurant is extremely narrow. We booked for lunch here on a sunny August day for lunch. Upon arrival it took 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, and another 5 minutes to seat us, and no the restaurant was very quiet-only using a fraction of it's capacity. The service was incredibly slow-we had a one course meal and we were there a full 2hrs! The food was very average too. At no point were we checked on to see if the meal was good or any sign of an apology for the slow service.

A delightful evening with family was spent here, wine flowed, food was fabulous, served by Amber with a beautiful smile. Never had such a fantastic experience in a restaurant in this country! Will be telling all my friends and colleagues. Every member of our party was expertly catered for - jokes with grandad, banter with the grown ups and colouring and care for the children. Good as good as a high end London restaurant and service to match. Well done Coombe Cellars.

The food was excellent, hot and fresh. Scallops cooked to perfection. Service from Amber was great. Will be back.

Visited for our monthly meal out, and once again was fantastic. Alex recognised us and greeted us by name before being shown to our table. Amber, young girl who bought us our food, was so helpful and friendly too!

I had the good value wine and dine menu, a lovely bottle of sauvignon, the chipotle sticky chicken, the rib-eye abd the creme brulee! Fantastic food and service, was seen by Tilly, Alex and Jeannette and they were polite and attentive

Stopped in for the Wine and Dine menu with my fiancee and family. Great value for the meal we had, cooked brilliantly, and Alex, Jeannette, and Jess provided wonderful service and it was a beautiful evening!

Took a friend who I haven't seen for a long time here for dinner. We shared the wine and dine menu. It was great value! I mean I think the bottle of wine alone was like 50 quid on it's own. Steak was great and the chef even wrote a birthday message on my brownie! Can't recommend enough! Massive thanks to Tim and Alex for their great service! The red headed American was lovely too, but didn't catch her name.

Had sticky chicken it was the right about of spice and chilli for my taste buds. For mains I had the dirty burger and it was what it says the cheese sauce dripping down the side and when you picked up it really live to it name and with a beef dripping gravy to dunk my season frys in and then washed it down with a nice crisp thatchers gold. Was served by a nice friendly staff member Alex was really up for chat. Will definitely be returning

Me and a couple of our mates met up after not seeing each other for a while and decided to have a nice drink down the eatery, we got served by someone called Luca I think it was who was very polite and helpful helping us decide what to have, quick on the till and crafty when it came to pouring our drinks would definitely come again

Staff went above and beyond to make our visit so special We indulged in some top quality food and drinks and left completely satisfied, had anticipated long waits when we had arrived to see the place full..we needn't have worried. Service was fast and efficient without feeling rushed. I also think we had the best table in the house! What a view!

Perfect family gathering with views which were just as stunning as the food and service. Lamb rump was just the best and cooked perfectly. Served by the wonderful Alex who is just adorable. The pub itself looks a bit tired outside due to the constant high tides but don't let that put you off. Truly is a hidden gem in this part of Devon

My family and I went for a cappocino coffee, I'm Lactose Intolerant so I took my own milk , Kelly ( one of the assistants) was very happy for me to use my own milk. Thank you Kelly and Combe Cellars. I would very much recommend.

Such a beautiful pub in a stunning location. Nothing was too much trouble at all, the food and service was excellent. Will definitely return.

Went out with the Family recently and found the food was top notch. Service was excellent and special thanks to the young lad Elliot. Very sociable and really kind while being well organised and hasty. Overall wonderful experience.

Great location and lovely food, the 'Dirty Burger' is amazing, you will need at least 2 napkins for this tasty treat, perfect amount of sauce, salad and cheese in a brioche bun. The daily special of Mackeral looked and smelled great, with a perfect view of the estuary as a lovely backdrop. Will definitely visit again when we are in that part of the world.

Lovely pub/restaurant with awesome views The staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them, however there was only 1 lad taking food and drinks orders, making the drinks and taking payments, which caused quite a queue. So maybe just making sure there is enough staff so that doesn't happen too often

At time of visit the pub was not open but the view and walk was very beautiful. It does form part of the Templar Way when the tide is out.

What fantastic service we received from Tim Jameson and Alex. Nothing was too much trouble Although they were extremely busy. The food was Surprisingly good, Harry did an absolutely amazing job of looking after us at our table.

Lovely spot for an evening meal we had to go back again for dinner before travelling home tonight. My family and I enjoyed the food. I have very fussy children but they loved the pizza and chips and the chocolate brownie an ice cream. My partner had the dirty burger and said it was a 10/10 I ha the sausage and Mash. Was very favourable. I also had the chocolate bomb with was delicious. Staff work so hard and are welcoming, with a smile, nothing was too much for them. Alex is a great asset to the team and all the other staff work very hard to keep the customers happy. We will be back.

Came up here during the week on a really busy evening. The coffee machine wasn't working but Alex made every effort to find a good replacement for me - I ended up with a espresso martini! Thanks so much

Everything was fabulous it was just a bit slow on the service

We had a wonderful meal, the food was delicious I had the crispy duck, my husband the belly pork cooked to perfection. The views are amazing a perfect spot to enjoy a perfect meal.

Fabulous food from Lucy and Team!

Visited as a party of 6 including 2 young children. The setting is beautiful, the menu is extensive and the food was tasty but the service was so very very slow. We arrived just before our 7pm booking, waited 20 minutes at our table for our drinks and a further 1hr 1/2 for our food despite asking after 1 hour for them to speed up delivery as the young children were getting very hungry and bored,......and we were hungry too. The staff were pleasant but very slow. Pity.

Food was high quality and service was excellent, but the best part is the view. Optimal location for beautiful views especially in the evening time.

Just eaten at the Cellars, food was amazing. King Prawn Linguine with crab and chorizo to die for. The slow cooked pork belly with scallops was tender, succulent, moist and perfectly put together. Top marks for Aaron who looked after us fabulously througout this wonderful dining experience. Location stunning, top marks, Highly recommended

We came here having not booked a table, we were sat in the conservatory, with a lovely view. The food was great and they service was wonderful, with very helpful, chatty, friendly staff, especially Aaron who served us the entire time. Would highly recommend

The food was okay I do have in concern tho my daughter’s chicken burger came with a sticker the sticker saying Monday I feel like they should inspect there food before it leaves the kitchen I am glad she dismantled the burger or she would have eaten the sticker I am ashamed at the staff another thing was the food did not come with cutlery and we had to get up and get it and for the price of the food I expected it to come with it I am very disappointed

Tried this place out lunchtime today. It looked quiet but still had to wait a good 50 minutes for mains. I added scallops which cost an extra 4 pounds. I only got 2. Very bland menu options for a place that is charging top end prices!. Won't be returning anytime soon.

A beautiful pub located on the bank of the river Teign. When we arrived, took Front of House (fh) staff 5 mins to welcome and seat us. The first red flag as we got to table informing us there was a 45 min wait for food. Now we were not in a rush, so not too bothered. Took them over 10 mins to come back and take our drinks order, had been long enough that we ordered our food at the same time. Red flag number 2, our starters arrived before our drinks, and we needed to chase them. When the drinks did arrive, they were wrong, but we could live with the mistake. By the time our mains came out, the pub had died down as was nowhere near as busy (to be honest, it didn't feel busy when we arrived, more likely they were understaffed). After finishing our mains, we were probably only 1 of about 4 tables left, and it still took us to ask to clear the table and offer dessert. Food was generally good. However, the burger was disappointing for the price compared to all the other meals. Overall, a lovely setting with family. Shame about the service. Won't be rushing back anytime soon.

amazing location, quality food, well worth a visit

8 of us ate tonight (Sunday) evening. We booked the restaurant for 24th year anniversary dinner. The atmosphere and picturesque outlook are beautiful. When seated we were not told of any dishes that were unavailable. Our French friends asked for two dishes that weren't available and had to choose for a third option which was luckily available. None of the 8 meals were of the quality we expected. The roast chicken was dry, the rest of the meal lacked flavour, in particular the greens. The sea bass was disappointing. The burgers were plain, without a salad garnish or coleslaw..... Just Burger and chips. A very poor experience. The waiter stacked other people's plates on top of your plate in front of you.... Poor training. A gorgeous location but the food was pricey and truly poor tonight.

Met a friend last Thursday for lunch here. What a fantastic location and beautiful restaurant. Atmosphere was chilled with fabulous views over river from all seating areas inside and out. The food was most enjoyable and the service was personal, polite and professional. Great place. Highly recommend.

I come here often and the food is always 10/10. Another delicious meal and great service from Jess, Jaedon and Fonzo. Will continue to return.

Absolutely lovely staff who were kind and gracious to us after a long walk

Food service was very slow. Starters and mains took a long time. Despite ordering relatively quickly, our mains took nearly 90mins to arrive at the table. No apology from staff or reason given for the delay. Menu range and beautiful location were very good. Overall, left feeling unhappy with the visit.

Steak was really cold not like it used to be here, it's really gone down hill shame.

Visited the Coombe Cellars with friends yesterday for lunch. We sat outside and the view is stunning. The food was really nice and we were served by Alex and Tony who were friendly and helpful.

As always, we love coming to the Coombe Cellars for dinner. The new menu was lovely and our waiter, Ben, was an absolute delight! Highly recommend 👌

We popped in on our way to our final destination and they fitted us in perfectly. The staff were amazing. Really friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. They answered all our questions. The food was spectacular. We chose the fixed price three course meal with wine and it was excellent value for money and very, very tasty. Just the right portion sizes so we didn’t feel stuffed. We then had a gentle stroll along the river taking in the breathtaking views. A lovely evening all round.

Sadly our experience was poor this evening. Restaurant was busy so service was slow. Lamb dish small with a lot of fat. Duck noodle salad tasty but dry duck. Crème brûlée was so thin, and raspberries on top was one. Viola top which I expected to be a blue flowers looked like cress. I didn’t even bother eating any of it. Disappointed.

Bit of a let down, all usual staff have left and new staff no where near as good, food quality not great, 3 lamb dinners all undercooked and raw in places, had to get redone then very tough! Again new staff. We are regulars and will give it a month to see if it improves before trying again. It was always excellent so I hope they can recover!

A very yummy birthday meal was enjoyed tonight. I was looking forward to my dessert....the chocolate bombe. When it turned up, my brownie was missing . However, the problem was resolved very quickly with a new chocolate bombe and the brownie! Thank you to Luca who looked after us. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

We couldn’t recommend Coombe Cellars anymore. The staff are all so friendly, with a real sense that they love working there. We had a waitress called Liz, she was bubbly, knew both the food and wine menu really well. Helping us pick the perfect dishes. We couldn’t fault the food and the dessert menu was the best we have come across! We will 100% be back! Thank you Liz and the coombe cellars team.

My family and I were served with a smile by the lovely lady called Liz, food was scrummy 😋 The setting by the river was gorgeous and complemented the great atmosphere of the restaurant.
