Your staff were great especially Holly she was amazing. The food wasn’t up to your usual standards, the pork crackling was solid couldn’t be eaten, the chocolate brownie was more a chocolate sponge and a very small portion,, my friend had the chocolate bomb dessert she said she wouldn’t have it again. It’s a shame I’ve eaten here before and the food was better. Response to the business comment. I did say when they collected our plates that I was unable to eat the crackling as it was so hard. I didn’t complain about any other part of the food as I was with a friend who was on holiday and didn’t want to ruin the meal. It was edible except the crackling but I won’t be back in a hurry. Also I don’t give negative reviews usually I had an email from you asking you do a survey which I did and you gave me the option to copy and paste to google reviews.

Today we took a very special friend who has been very poorly over the last couple of years for lunch. We were served by Kelly who was very bubbly and helpful. The food was lovely and my mushroom risotto was exceptional. We had a lovely time and our friend was delighted to be with us all. Thank you so much for making our lunch so special. We will be back!!!

We went here with a friend from up north as the combe cellars was recomended. We got there 5 minutes earlier than our booking, sat down and drinks order was taken quite quickly. We then ordered our food and waited 55 minutes. Three out of four meals had cold vegetables, which we complained about they brought more out (still cold). We ordered desserts, half of mini pud & hot drink came 10-15 minutes later we got our other desserts, not good. Bad night Will NOT be returning.

Not a good experience tonight, had to wait about a hour for food to be served, when it arrived it was mostly cold especially the vegetables. Staff didn't seem that switched on, and the kitchen staff obviously had no urgency or organisation in getting food cooked and served. Won't be returning in a hurry!

Booked for father’s 80th birthday for 17 people and children. The restaurant was very quiet so there was no excuse for the poor service - main courses brought out while plates and cutlery still in place from starters! No water glasses and no offer of jugs of water considering young children. The main meals though ordered prior to the day arrived mostly cold and so below the standard we would have expected for the cost. No one came to clear the plates etc from main course and we had to stack them up ourselves as the birthday cake was brought out. What should have been a lovely birthday meal was like a visit to faulty towers. I can understand not having enough staff occasionally but not when you have a large party booked as well. Looked as if the Chef was walking out as we arrived!

We visited today for some lunch. The service was incredibly slow and took about an hour to get our food. The place didn't seem too busy so this seems excessive. We were visiting with children and the long wait was difficult to manage. It took so long we almost left. When it finally arrived, the food was good but still a very disappointing visit.

Fabulous meal at this gastro pub last night. Friendly staff, beautiful views over the Teign, good value (£75 for drinks and 2 courses for 2 people is a little less than we'd expected!) The starters of Sticky Beef dumpling and chilli king prawns were superb. My main of the brisket and double Gloucester pie will live long in the memory and was worth the trip alone. Perfect pastry, great flavour, unctuous sauce... Delicious.

Second time visiting (first time was amazing and the food was unbelievable) and quite disappointed. The food was not as nice as my first visit and considering the price you'd expect a burger you can bite into. The mushroom starter was also miniscule and extremely bland. We were sat in a dark area of the resturant and had to use the torch on my phone to read the menu. If you want to good view of the river Teign and a well lit area, make sure you request a good seat near the windows. The best thing about the dining experience was our server, I didn't catch her name but she was very polite and attentive.

I don't normally bother with reviews but I simply felt compelled. we came to coombe sellers on a boat trip with a local company and I have to say I was very impressed. not only were we stunned by the beauty of the location but also by how good the food was,the cleanliness and the service was exceptional. a charming lady called jess was brilliant with guiding us through the menu for my partners dietary requirements. so a massive thanks for that the only let down was the building itself looked a bit tired and in desperate need of a coat of paint. but after speaking to the new manager he informed me it was on the top of his list to push to get done. all in all a fantastic experience and I believe we will now make it a regular haunt of ours.

Service was very good, albeit a little slow at times but we did have a 'trainee' waitress, so willing to forgive on that point. One of my guests ordered the Liver Parfait for starter but we were all very surprised that only one piece of toasted bread was provided, when clearly two pieces was required. Yes, we did order another slice but this had to be toasted and we waited circa 10 minutes for this to arrive. I personally had the Cumberland Sausages and reasonably disappointed that only two Sausages were served. I have been to many other establishments where this is served and three appears to be the Norm. The fish however, was delicious and huge!

We arrived at Coombe Cellars and the place is absolutely fantastic. The views are great and the restaurant is lovely. However, we were shown to our seats and were not informed that it wasn't table service, which is fine but it meant that we took a bit of time to order. Then we ordered the food - 3 lots of pork belly with scallops, lamp rump, linguine with scallops, and a burger. It took close to an hour for the food to come out and everyone's plate was piping hot - which generally means it has been sat under a heat lamp for a while. The waiter did not say a word when he brought the food out and chose to instead angle the plates down a bit to show the food and not tell anyone what it was. After figuring out what was what, he then proceeded to nearly drop the food onto two of the guests as the plate slid out of his hand from a height (I guess because the plates were so hot). He then did not apologise for this. The food was mediocre at best and for what we paid it really was NOT good value for money. One of the pork belly dishes came without crackling and the other two did. We paid an extra £4 for the linguine to have scallops (notice the s on the end there, that means plural) but it only came out with one scallop which was a bit rubbery. Overall, the place was lovely, the food was overpriced, and the service was shocking.

Setting was lovely by the river, we were meeting up with friends we had not seen for a while. The evening was spoilt by the lack of service received by the serving colleagues. Meal brought out and no acknowledgement from them of what they were. In fact the colleague just stood there with the plates and did not say a word. The same colleague then came out and proceeded to drop my plate to the table in front of me. At around 10pm we were told they were calling last orders. Not what I expected on a Friday night. The whole experience would have suited a Fawlty Towers seen!!

We visited the Coombe Cellars yesterday, Sunday. The venue was booked on-line and a window seating for four people was requested. We arrived half an hour early to enjoy a drink and registered at the desk. We were told that they had us a table as requested but was not quite ready. Not a problem at all as we were early and was fetched from the bar area when they were ready for us. All was going well and the seating was good with the lovely views. This was really the end of the good bits and things did not go well from then on. We had two roast chickens and two trio of roast being beef, pork & chicken. It arrived in about 20 minutes but what a let down, the presentation was not great. It was dried out with little gravy and we had to request more gravy. The beef was one small slice and dried out, the pork was a very small square of belly pork and the chicken a dried out small chicken leg. We were expecting succulent sliced meats. Roast potatoes; well what roast potatoes, three very small potatoes hidden underneath the other items. When found, one was undercooked, one was so over cooked it look as if it had been hanging around did not attempt to find the third. The yorkshire pudding was as dry as a crisp and attempting to cut into it set splinters going everywhere. As a whole very poor. The ladies roast chicken was a small piece of chicken breast but again dry and over cooked. None of the four of us could finish the meals with mine sent back hardly touched. The other three meal put together was at least another serving and a half. We a local business people who eat out 2 or 3 times a month and this has to be the worst we have experienced. I do not read or do feedbacks normally as they are not always accurate and let my own experience judge things. I have written this feedback as I feel strongly about our poor experience. It will be interesting to see the managers reply to this! Will it be the same as all the other poor reviews but nothing changes in the pub kitchen and the food quality. There are plenty of very good pubs and restaurants all within 3 to 4 miles which have fully trained, proper chiefs who pride themselves on local food produce, good quality meats and great presentational skills. A very good sunday roast at these places will be between £17 and £24 and much more enjoyable. Or the alternative maybe is the cheaper national Tim Martin owned outlets which may do as good a roast (don't know) and a drink for around £14. In a nutshell please avoid and have a look on-line at other outlets in the area.

Great location and generally good food but as others have indicated a very long wait of over an hour for any food and long delays between courses. Long wait for drinks. Serving staff were pleasant and clearly could see the problem but unable to do anything to improve the service for which an automatic 10% charge is added. Thinking we were taking our visitors to a premium establishment we were severely disappointed with the mediocre experience. Gluten free limited selection because of no separate fryer. One meal forgotten which curiously only added an extra 10min wait for one of our guests. Truly disappointing.

This place is in an idyllic location, literally purched on the shore of the Teign estuary. The road approaching the restaurant is extremely narrow. We booked for lunch here on a sunny August day for lunch. Upon arrival it took 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, and another 5 minutes to seat us, and no the restaurant was very quiet-only using a fraction of it's capacity. The service was incredibly slow-we had a one course meal and we were there a full 2hrs! The food was very average too. At no point were we checked on to see if the meal was good or any sign of an apology for the slow service.

I’ve loved this pub for a few years now, having only discovered it existed early in 2020, when it was being given a beautiful new lease of life. With already a ridiculously long history of keeping the locals fed and watered in Ashburton, the Old Exeter Inn continues to thrive. If woodburning stoves, candlelight and exceptional pub food are your thing, I would hightail it to this place as quick as you can. As we were heading into Autumn on the day I visited and the winds were picking up outside - no more beer garden adventures for a while - it dawned on me I was feeling the need to sit by a fire with a glass of wine and eat something comforting. And I knew the perfect place to eat. On this visit, I had the Florentine fish cakes, which also happen to be GF, and they were excellent. A great wine selection and those blowing gales tempted me to stay a little longer than I had planned. It’s that kind of place. I’m lucky enough to live less than 20 mins away so will return again and again. The staff are always helpful and friendly. I can’t recommend The Old Exeter Inn enough.

Sat outside for a drink with wife and two naughty dogs saw the fish and chips and just had to have them was not disappolnted really nice it came with mushy peas and we ordered curry sauce all smashing. The staff were very busy but still had time for their customers even my naughty terrier the price was good too and the portions amazing.
