Went for Sunday lunch great food very reasonable price. They do a lot of gluten-free food. The owners make you very welcomed, The pub is being redecorated, and the dining area at the back is very smart and is a nice place to eat away from the bars. This is a good place to go for good food, a quiet drink and a friendly smile.

I live locally and went out for a nice bottle of wine with my friend. I do not go out a lot and never been in the pub before last night. My husband died recently so we dressed up and went out for a nice time. We ordered a bottle of wine with 2 glasses and had a glass chatting then went outside for a bit. When we returned the glasses and bottle of wine had gone? I asked for it back and the landlady told us I could have the bottle back but we had to leave? I asked her why? She just said we had to leave? She was so rude and unprofessional we were not drunk we had not done anything wrong just out chatting and having a nice time? Very rude, obviously thought we were not local so our faces did not fit in as nicely dressed and polite people. I’m shocked and just proves how they only like certain people. We are both local just don’t go drinking in pubs all of the time so if your face doesn’t fit expect to be thrown out for no reason! Please do not support this new management and pub they deserve to be closed down as absolutely dreadful to treat people this way I’m disgusted to be honest! Avoid

What is not to like about the Bishop Lacy. My local for a few years now and it's as good as ever.

Owners are from Torquay and have come to our town to be disrespectful to there customers. Kick out there customers for “being to drunk” after 1 pint. Absolute joke. Avoid!

Had Sunday dinner here, two adults and two children its honestly the best Sunday dinner I've had for a very long time, proper roast potatoes, loads of meat. vegetables which are actually fresh. the gravy was gorgeous! the atmosphere is cute, quirky and relaxing. The people here are lovely and friendly. definitely worth a visit.

Whilst on a day drinking tour around the area. Our last stop was the Bishop Lacy. Where we had ordered a buffet. Which was amazing but as for the local cliental, they were indifferent to our arrival. As we had plenty of food left over. We said to place some in the bat which seemed to smooth over relations with the locals.

Not joking..:I could eat a curry from the Bishop Lacy for an insane amount of days in a row. Unbelievably good food as always. Thanks Robin and Wendy

Took the family for a meal, traditional pub setting, great selection of food. The inlaws Fish and chips went down a treat. I had the madras which was very good. The landlord was welcoming and the service was good.

Superb, I would highly recommend The Bishop Lacy for its sunday roast, best roast I've eaten in a long time and the , apple and caramel pie for desert was delicious it's very friendly and warm welcoming pub and will definitely return.

We were staying at Finlake Holiday Park and decided to go to the nearest village for food. Highly recommend Bishop Lacey for families and couples. Lovely warm welcome, great selection of food, the food was lovely and all the curries were homemade. The waiter was very attentive. We popped in there the following night just for a drink and were once again given a friendly welcome .

Recommended by our Airbnb host for excellent curries and we weren’t disappointed! I had the lamb jalfrezi and can honestly say it was better than many of the Indian restaurant curries I’ve sampled. The lamb was so tender. Would highly recommend. Wish it was on our doorstep! They do takeaways too!

Went here twice on holiday in nearby Finlake Park. Absolutely lovely both times.First we both got curries, with rice/chips, naan and poppadoms. Honestly 1 of the nicest curries I've had in a very long time.Second time I got the beef Sunday roast which was lovely and very very very good quality for money. They basically gave me half a cow worth of beef haha plus all the twimmings for less than a tenner. Partner got the steak which looked lovely as well.And, outside of the food, it's just a really nice atmosphere, everyone's really friendly.Definitely go again next time in area!

Booked a table for 4 and we arrived for a couple of drinks and a meal, nice to be back at the Bish, three of us had a meal from the specials board and another from the takeaway menu, actually sitting down at a table and really enjoying our food and drink, It was gorgeous, Rob really does know how to cook and the service was Excellent, Keep it up Bishop Lacy.

We have just enjoyed the Bishop Lacey 'Bit of Both' roast and it was delicious as always with lovely roast potatoes and just the best gravy. Covid has been rubbish but the best thing to come out of it has been your takeaway roasts. And it is great to have the flexibility to order children's meals alongside our grown up dinner. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic takeaway food service

I don't know what the BL is like on a normal Sunday when you can visit but my experience with take out Sunday roast wasn't good. I'm used to the Dartmoor lodge take outs nr ashburton and that is consistently fantastic. The bishop Lacey roast on the other hand looked like slices of processed turkey out of a packet,It was pretty stingy and with only a couple of very overcooked potatoes.My friend said 'it doesn't look like a lot of love has gone into that :D'Even ordering it sounded like the guy couldn't really be bothered.So, we won't be going there again.

Visited the Inn tonight both had Lamb dansak curry. Lovely taste and quality.we sat in tonight. But they have an excellent takeaway service.

Robin and Wendy and all of the staff have worked endlessly to keep the pub going, their takeaway service is exceptional and as for the food Robin is a Brilliant Chef, they have provided me with glorious takeaway curries and fish and chips delivered on time by Lee the driver, Robin deserves a medal for his outstanding service and cooking skills as last night ( Christmas Eve ) he provided me and the wife a absolutely outstanding meal as a sit down in the pub, the service from Ray and Andy was brilliant and very helpful, during this sad time they have worked very hard and I would like to thank them for keeping Chudleigh going.

I decided to treated myself to a chicken curry last week and I wasn't disappointed. The food turned up at the specified time and tasted amazing, I was so impressed that I followed it up with a roast on Sunday which was just as good. I will definitely be ordering again.

The Bishop Lacey takeaway menu has a strangely diverse range of offerings from Burgers to Indian curries, Chinese, pizza and sadly for me; Fish & chips. The trouble is that when you attempt to be a jack of all trades, you can end up being a master of none. I cannot comment on the rest of the food but the fish & chips from here is terrible. Flavourless soggy battered fish and cheap frozen prepacked chips cooked badly. I won't be ordering again.

We ate here whilst staying in the area we both had the Indian menu very tasty. My 2 children had the kids nuggets and chips generous portions. Very welcoming staff

I've had several varied meals here . Lamb roast , chicken roast , vegetable roast and fish , chip n mushy peas. Excellent meals . Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere all round .

This place was lovely. A great atmosphere, a brilliant range of drinks at reasonable prices and the food was 'home cooked' and very flavourful. I would highly recommend the curries! The staff were so helpful and very friendly! Fantastic covid restrictions in place. Will definitely be visiting again!

We had a lovely evening here the staff made us feel very welcome the pizza's were really tasty but if you love true authentic curry's then you'll be disappointed we all ordered Dansak but it was nothing like a Dansak it didn't even have lentils in it, as an English curry it tasted ok and I eat it all but a Dansak it was not

Spot on as usual. 9 adults and two children to sit down as a group. Excellent service, all delivered hot and together to all of us. Fabulous roast beef and/or pork along with the veggies and Yorkshires. Two of our number had excellent chicken kormas. Nothing too much trouble with attentive but discreet service. Highly recommended!!!

Visited this fantastic dog friendly place on the last evening of our holiday. We were greeted by Ray with a warm welcome and the hospitality continued with Wendy taking our food order lifting our spirits with her light and easy humour.It’s a good and varied menu but I won’t beat around the bush - the curries are absolutely amazing!! If I lived in or near Chudleigh I’d never have to visit an Indian restaurant again - the Chef at the Bishop Lacy has the skills to create the unique combination of flavours to match any rival ( they also do Chinese and Thai curries which I’m sure must be equally good).The locals we met in the pub were very friendly and made us feel at home further adding to what turned out to be a great experience (they love their Rugby!)Thoroughly recommend the Bishop Lacy for it’s fine food, friendly welcome and superb hospitality. We’ll definitely be sure to visit on our next holiday to Devon!

We went as a family of four to the Bishop Lacey Inn for dinner on our trip to Devon The pub was full of locals but we were made to feel included and had a great chat with everyone including the staff who were very friendly! We were very pleased to see that the pub was dog friendly on the reviews we read but that is an understatement. Our young puppy got love and attention from all the staff and had a great time.The food is amazing (we recommend the curries and pizzas) and the value for money is astounding. If we ever return to Devon the Bishop Lacey will be the first place we eat!Thank you Ray and Wendy as well as the lovely waitress with the blue hair (whose name we didn’t catch) and of course the Chef for a lovely visit and meal!

Being from Italian heritage and of a certain age, I know a great home made pizza and what it is meant to be like. I had the take away mozzarella and basil leaves last week and I swear, it was amazing. Arrived steaming hot and on time. The man who put so much love into this pizza must be Italian. It was absolutely "just like a momma used to make." Just enough mozzarella to provide the succulence and then the basil just topped it off. Will be ordering this agin this week and floating back to my childhood. Great job. Well done.

In a pandemic, it is great to see a community come together but Bishop Lacy has gone one step further. Not just delivering to the immediate area but also to outlying villages where they don't have a takeaway facility. We had fish and chips tonight. Poper chunky cod and homemade chips - proper chips. Delivered all by Lee who is just brill and with a smile. No need to go anywhere else as the Bishop has it all. Great service, great price, great food.

my workmates and me enjoyed a selection of delicious pizzas;-tasty toppings,perfect handmade bases and all arrived on time and hot.Their pizzas are as good as the best pizzerias and the takeaway menu generally has a great choice of pub classics, all excellent value for menu.

Their takeaway menu is great with an amazing choice. I've had this green prawn curry twice now..best ive tasted. I will get ordering again for definite,!

Used this for the first time, delivered quickly and food was hot. Food was very tasty and well cooked , rice was fluffy curry excellent. Well done to the chef, will definitely use again. Thank you for being there at this difficult time.

Dropped in after a late night Christmas shopping with the wife and had fish and chips. You cannot beat this place for value for money, great food and great tasting food. This isn't a place like "Spoons" where the food is cheap and just thrown on the plate, it is well thought out and rightly priced.As for the blow in from Bristol, anneal, I don't know what you get in Bristol but I am willing to bet that it aint as good as this. This is a small Town and we don't get busy anywhere in Chudleigh but I BET YOU WERE SERVED WITH A SMILE AND PROMPTLY. It really hacks me off when blow ins critiques our Town, Don't like it, don't visit.

We have stopped here 3 times on way to Exeter. Landlord is hospitable Pub is full of character Food is always hot and fresh and reasonably .priced. Ladies toilets and mirrors cleanest I've ever seen in a pub This time we had Hammond and chips and sausage egg and chips. All were. tast

I have had the haddock from the Bishop many times and it's consistently good. In fact it's better than most chippys I've been to and it's a good price too. Tonight it was just as good as usual and the staff are friendly.

Arrived in Chudleigh mid evening. Decided to use the take away as we were staying locally. A very odd little place, you walk in and the place just looks closed . Anyway, it wasn’t so started to place order. Asked for large cod, they don’t do large cod. Asked for battered sausage , they don’t do battered sausage. Asked to see a menu, they didn’t have a menu and was told to look on their website!!! Looks like you order online first and collect but we weren’t aware of this just coming off the street! Anyway, chose ‘medium’ cod and batter chicken chunks. Obviously cooked to order as there were no hot counters. They brought the food to us but didn’t even have, or were offered , salt and vinegar! I mean, what kind of take away doesn’t offer that?? Anyway, went back to our accommodation a few miles away. Very very disappointed. The chips were frozen thin fries and there was grease dripping both from the the cod and battered chicken. The fish was raw in the middle... it was the most awful takeaway we’ve had... the food reviews for the restaurant looked ok but that was not reflected in our take away experience .

Cannot remember why I went to this pub. As it was in August last year. A lot has happened in Chudleigh, since then. But looks OK.

It’s always a great time here, food is spot on (the fish n chips and the curries in particular are great) and if you want a fun evening in the bar then you can do no wrong.

We love the roast dinner at the bishop lacy. We’ve been coming to the pub for a long time now and absolutely love it. The atmosphere is great and we’ve been made very welcome by the locals. The land lady has a great sense of humour. All the meals we’ve had have been fantastic. Thoroughly enjoy this place and can’t wait to go back.

I have been eating at the bishop lacy for many years and it just gets more and more delicious. I ordered a take away roast dinner.... It was so so tasty the homemade Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes are the best IV had. None of this frozen rubbish. The staff are great and the atmosphere is always so welcoming. Definitely recommend the bishop lacy

Had Sunday lunch with hubby, we both had the beef which I must say melted in the mouth. Fresh vegetables and home made Yorkshire puds. Service was excellent and the portions are very generous. All reasonably priced too. Would highly recommend.

About 2 years ago whilst in Devon I went to the Bishop Lacey where I had one of the best curries ever. This year whilst staying in Chudleigh I was looking forward to repeating the experience. What a dreadful mistake. I ordered a prawn vindaloo and my wife ordered a mild prawn curry. When they arrived I was shocked to see that the meal represented a dish full of soup with a number of prawns in it. No way was the the enjoyable meal I was expecting. We both ate about half of our meal and left the rest. Will never eat there again.

This pub is probably the best pub i have been to, lovely staff the food is great and the entertainment is amazing. 10/10

Came across this little gem, from the outside it didn’t look anything special, once inside what a difference, very friendly staff, good selection on the menu, what great tasting food and plenty of it, good prices. Would definitely recommend.
