Cookhouse Joe in City of London, Westminster

We've been here before when visiting London and so were delighted to find an empty table on the pavement as we passed it about 7pm hours before lockdown 2 in early November 2020. Not just a table but one with a patio heater above!We have had excellent food here in the past and this time was no exception but we were delighted to extend our repetoire in trying the lamb kebabs which were delicious. As were the moutabal (smoked aubergine dip) with home made flatbread and half a chicken with two sauces (we chose garlic and cucumber and mint). The chicken is moist and so very tasty. Everything was perfect.They told us how we could order via Deliveroo but sadly, living in Cambridge, we can't. We shall just dream of our next chance to visit when in London.

Finally a tasty, healthy and delicious option bringing some cheer to the stay at home outlook. Delicious chicken- very large portion. My son and I had the lunch menu which was extremely good value too

Some of the best chicken wings we have ever tasted! The menu options are a bit limited, but everything else we tried was tasty, especially the delicious wagyu burger. Friendly staff and nice decoration, and we immediately found a table on a Friday night. On the other hand, it was a tad too dark and there was a really noisy large group on a nearby table, so beware if you like calm places. Still, a really nice restaurant.

Nos decidimos a cenar aquí al buscarlo en ésta página por la buena puntuación que tiene. Tras cenar allí, totalmente justificada. El lugar es pequeño y personal, el pollo está buenísimo y jugoso. Además tuvimos la suerte que una de las camareras era de Madrid y nos explicó super bien el menú, nos recomendó platos y salsas...cenamos medio pollo y hamburguesa de ternera con patatas fritas y salimos muy contentos. Totalmente recomendable.

While walking back to our Air B&B in Soho, we saw a sign stating, "15 bottle of Prosecco on Wednesdays"...We stopped and thought we were going to have just one bottle before we went to another establishment. After looking at the menu, we ordered fries, falafel, wings, pickles and olives and two bottles of Prosecco. We never made it to the next stop. Service was excellent and the food was so delicious! One of my friends is not fond of falafel, but she found the falafel to be tasty and fresh, which it was, along with the sauce! The wings were so tasty and seasoned well. Besides the food, every server was friendly and warm! I will definitely stop again!

My friends and I have been going to Cookhouse Joe for a little under 2 years, both together and independently. The food has always been great, and I've always had really fun, easy going evenings here. It was a go-to reco for anyone looking for a casual evening with yum food. All until last week...I requested a table for 19 people for my birthday, which they were happy to accommodate, until I asked if I could have more of a specific space either upstairs or downstairs so my guests could move around and chat to each other. The person I originally spoke to was so unhelpful- he just said "no" or "dunno" to all my questions and said to speak to Joey (the owner I assume).I emailed Joey with my request, and also advised him that the treatment I received from his restaurant employee was unsatisfactory and disappointing, especially given I am a loyal customer. Not only did he patronisingly tell me "we are a restaurant and so kindly ask we sit down for the entirety of the meal" (I felt like I was at school), he completely failed to acknowledge my complaint regarding my original phone call. I responded, cancelling my reservation, and saying how surprised I was that he ignored an important part of my email, and he hasn't even had the curtesy to reply.... He also offered no solution, suggesting he had no interest in my business for 19 people on a Thursday night. He's clearly so successful he doesn't need my or my friends' business. I have since advised my friends & family of my experience, and most interestingly 2 of them have had recent independent experiences of feeling most unwelcome and rushed out of the restaurant.All this to say, customer service and loyalty are not valued at Cookhouse Joe. If you want service with a smile, I'd suggest avoiding it. If you only care about the food, go for it but I wouldn't be accepting the default service charge that's added. Such a shame that such a great food place has lost its ability to service properly.

Pausa pranzo al top!Grazie alle recensioni di Tripadvisor siamo arrivati in questo Mini ristorante.. forse 20/25 posti molto intimo.. abbiamo scelto un ottima e abbondante insalata di pollo, i piatto di coscette di pollo, 1 hamburger con patatine da mangiare in 2, 1 circa 1 Aqua .. tutto veramente fatto impeccabilmente e con quantità direi abbondanti.. unica lieve nota il prezzo perché abbiamo speso circa 50€ in due.. ma sappiamo purtroppo che a london i prezzi sono sempre stati sopra la media.. non so se ci tornerei ma cmq se siete in zona e non avete idea di dove andare rimane sempre un ‘ottima soluzione..✌

Delicious Lebanese sides with rotisserie chicken. Worth a try if you are in Soho area. Only downside is the quality of wine does not match food.

My girlfriend and I visited at lunch time and got some chicken wraps and half a chicken with salad. This was more than we imagined. Great portion sizes and very delicious tender chicken. It is worth visiting if you want something different

Truthfully we went to Ballans on Compton street first and sat for 15 mins without even a menu. Are we pleased we left and went to CHJ’s... brilliant. Started with excellent negronis. Then shared a 1/2 chicken, burger and fries, falafel (really well made, I normally dislike falafel) and grilled halloumi. Brought to us swiftly and succulent, perfectly flavour. The staff are lovely. The price is excellent too. Just a super little restaurant.

Been to Cookhouse Joe a few times now. Love it. Food is delicious, staff are great. Looking forward to going again soon.

Leímos las críticas de TripAdvisor y pensamos que tomaríamos una batea en este lugar y me alegro mucho de haberlo hecho. Con más de 1000 críticas de 4 1/2 estrellas, nuestras expectativas eran altas. Nos acurrucamos sin reservar y nos resolvieron una mesa de cuatro sin problemas. Desde el principio, el personal fue acogedor, amable y atento. Nos recomendaron al especial entre cuatro de nosotros (un pollo con agujeros y todo el lado) si alguna vez has tenido un meze, entonces te encantará. La comida seguía llegando y todo estaba a un gran nivel. He vivido en el Med durante años, así que sepa a qué sabe esta comida y Joe superó mis expectativas. Desde el primer segundo que llegamos, toda la experiencia fue fantástica y no podríamos haber elegido un lugar mejor para comer. No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficiente.

Visited cookhouse joe out of the blue having never heard of it before. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food, chicken was cooked right and not dry, prices are reasonable too.

If you need a rest from intense shopping and refuel, I warmly recommend this lovely, friendly place. Great food, drinks and service. Especially the Lebanese sides such as tabbouleh are worth trying.

Legit falafel, roast chicken, lamb kofte burger. Really good food & cocktails, great staff and so inexpensive! Sister restaurant to breakfast & pizza joint Soho Joe around the corner. Safe bet!

Wir waren an einem Freitag Abend bei "Joe" essen und waren begeistert. Wir haben zwar nicht auf Anhieb einen Platz bekommen (hatten nicht reserviert) aber sobald etwas frei wurde, hatte uns der leitende Mitarbeiter direkt angerufen und da wir den Anruf überhört hatten, wurden wir sogar im gegenüberliegenden Pub persönlich imformiert. Echt starker Service. Das Essen war ebenfalls analog zum Service richtig lecker. Weiter so !

No es facil encontar un sitio en Londres para comer por 10€. Pues este es ese sitio. No esperes un sitio sofisticado, es básico, con poca luz y con un menu corto, pero esta muy bien. El pollo buenisimo y barato, tienen ensaladas y más platos. Si buscas algo bueno y barato este es tu sitio. En la zona de Oxford-Regent Street.

Rotisserie chicken is delicious, crispy outside and juicy inside. However, the falafel warp is not so good. The bread outside is stiff. The price is cheap. So recommend greatly.

I had the Wagu burger and fries which was fantastic, one the of the best burgers I’ve ever had and only £10 which is well worth the money, the only thing I would say is thou if you want cheese and bacon that’s an extra £3. The service was impeccable and fast which was good as it was a working lunch, will be going back for sure.

Buscabamos un buen sitio para comer cerca de Oxford Street y buscando lo encontramos. Ese día tenian el menú por 6 libras, por lo que lo pedimos, y pedimos tambien un wrap de pollo asado. Ambas cosas estaban muy ricas, en total nos salio como unas 16 libras. Es un sitio economico y de calidad, además hay dos camareras españolas muy atentas y simpáticas. Sin duda volveré.

Fare un pranzo anche rapido, ma economico e buono non è facile qui a Londra. Qui si può. Ho preso un wrap di falafel, che mi hanno servito con patatine fritte e acqua. Staff gentile, luogo pulito. Consigliato se si è in zona.

J’y suis allé avec ma petite famille et j’ai trouvé l’endroit sympathique et le personnel très aimable en plus un des serveurs parlait très bien français de qui était agréable pour commander. :) Le houmous était très bon et les burgers étaient juste TOP.

Vi besökte den här restaurangen för ungefär två år sedan och den etsade fast sig i minnet. Nu när vi var i London igen var vi tvungna att gå dit igen! Besvikna blev vi inte utan maten var fortfarande fantastiskt god och till ett gott pris! Man blev verkligen mätt! Rekommenderar deras pommes som tillbehör till kycklingen!

A bunch of friends getting together. Some from Cape Town. Some from Israel. Some local. Great times ahead. We were told about this cool place. Something Joe in Soho. We googled. We looked. We liked. We booked. We went. I even left my phone at home as to enjoy the food and company without distraction.

È difficile trovare un giusto rapporto qualità prezzo visto e considerato che a Londra si mangia davvero male con 10 sterline, invece qui con cucina fatta in casa si mangia davvero bene, confermo le recensioni positive!

Just finished dinner here and there is nothing you can fault. The food is great value for money and tasty. We sat by the pizza oven and James provided an amazing service, extremely friendly and makes you want to visit again. We were also served by Chelsea who was attentive and friendly also. Food was excellent. I had a half roast chicken and chips with a side of hummus and falafel. The garlic dip (for the chicken) is incredible! Nice little restaurant, friendly and attentive staff. Would definitely go back.

Cookhouse Joe is an eatery that visitors crave: good food, service and location without any pretence or intimidation. It has a cosy atmosphere in a great location. We had a great time there with the host Sean. Great value for money with generous plates and interesting dessert. Baklava with vanilla ice cream is to die for! Top class coffee by the way. Highly recommended.

The best chicken I had in Europe! We were lucky to go on the first day of our 4 days in London and came back on our last. I met the owner Sean and he was very sweet. Muito bom!!

Really juicy and tasty chicken, nothing but the roast flavour, nice portions and prices for lunch (a bit more priced for dinners)

Many things didn’t work for us here. We were freezing because of the draught from the window, the water was served in plastic cups, the restaurant was noisy and also the staff. The staff handled glass bottles and other things just next to our table. This was quite disturbing. We will never come back to eat here.

We visit this place minimum one a month. Is one of our must to go when we have people over and are looking for a great food experience in Soho.

La semana pasada fui a Londres con una amiga y buscando en TripAdvisor un sitio para comer por la zona del Soho nos salió este. La verdad que fue una buena elección; buen ambiente, camareras españolas muy majas y serviciales, relación calidad precio buena, la hamburguesa muy rica y también el humus de berenjena. Por poner una pega, poca luz y sitio pequeñito, pero la verdad, acogedor. Volveríamos!

Fuimos a cenar porque era lo mejor valorado en tripadvisor que más cerca nos quedaba. El personal es bastante amable, había varias camareras españolas que fueron muy agradables.

Totally disappointed with the whole experience! We visited Saturday lunchtime and it wasn’t busy. I wanted to try this place as the reviews were so good but it was a waste of time and money. Firstly the staff struggle to raise a smile for you, we ordered 2 pina coladas which took 20 minutes to arrive and when they did they were all pineapple and very little else. At £12 for 2 you would at least expect to be able to drink them, when we pointed this out to the waitress she took them back to the guy at the bar who stomped over to see what the problem was, he was not impressed that we asked for them to have more cream etc in and they were sent back to the table with about a spoonful of cream in - needless to say we just drank the water we had!!

Moutabal and bread was very tasty - lovely smoked flavours. The Wagyu burger was good. The half chicken was succulent and delicious, and the chili sauce was excellent and fresh. The fries are excellent. Great value too! Highly recommended.

We were recommended to go here by our son and his girlfriend as they’d been many times. We went as a group of 6 and all had such great food.

I am taking a risk putting this on as I have been threatened - in the nicest possible way - by afficianados of this wonderful restaurant who don't want it swamped with hungry crowds in search of excellent food and value. But the truth must be told so here goes......

Il posto è piccolo ma molto carino, luce soffusa e un menù con pochi piatti ma buoni! Abbiamo preso un pollo intero alla griglia, patate dolci fritte, patate fritte e felafel. Tutto molto buono con una spesa di 40 pound circa

Found this little gem when we were walking back to get our coach home. Didn't want to go to a 'chain' restaurant so turned off Oxford Street and stumbled across Cookhouse Joe's. It was fab. Waiters and waitresses were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I had the half chicken with chilli sauce and fries and my partner had the kofte burger with fries. Both were lovely. The chicken really was the nicest I have had. We also had 2 large glasses of wine and the bill came to just over £30. I can not fault this place and would highly recommend it.

Stopped in here for a meal before going to the theatre and glad we did. Quick, easy and egg allergy free menu. Staff are knowledgeable about the menu and the food was tasty. Give it a go! Looks are deceiving as the outside looks a little rough but the inside is totally different as it’s nice and cosy! The staff were all excellent!

...the place claims to be Lebanese, or serve Lebanese food. Don´t know if their Falafel would be a success in an Arab country, rather dry and uninspired. Salad and fries were good though, atmosphere and staff friendly.

We were shopping on Oxford Street and looking for a non-touristy place to eat. TripAdvisor recommended Cookhouse Joe and we were not disappointed. What a lovely place. Staff are friendly, the atmosphere is warm and the food is great! We asked our waitress for recommendations and ordered what she suggested (a half chicken to share with some sides). Delicious! The place is small, but well worth a visit. You’ll feel welcome!

I’ve been working in soho for a while and this is now my go to place - it never disappoints. Extremely tasty and affordable food. Great selection of cocktails. Service is fantastic, friendly and fast. Will not disappoint and would highly recommend.

Resto sympa varié dans le choix

I went to Cookhouse Joe on Friday night with my boyfriend. I'm always skeptical when it comes to finding new places to eat in London, but from the moment I walked in I felt completely at ease. I explained my intolerances to the staff and they recommended dishes that I could eat from the menu. They even went through the extra effort of adapting some dishes so that I could eat them. I couldn't believe how much choice there was! Normally I'm lucky if there is 1 item on the menu that I can eat (and sometimes its just a salad). The chicken was so tender and the garlic sauce is TO DIE FOR! The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and we stayed for drinks at the bar afterwards, where we had prosecco and mojitos.

Nous sommes venus une première fois un soir car nous avions vu que des bons commentaires sur Tripadvisor. Le restaurant était bondé. Nous avons donc décidé d y retourner 2 jours après , un midi. Malgré notre réservation, pas de table disponible d après eux. En réalité, l étage du restaurant était vide. Les plats se sont ensuite avérés quelquonque, dépourvus de saveurs. Par la suite, la digestion fut difficile. Si vous chercher un street food libanais : passez votre chemin.

Came in by myself and lucky for me it was happy hour! My favourite cocktail is a Bloody Mary and this place makes it exceptionally well. Food also delicious Lebanese street style- as an Iraqi I can safely say it was authentic and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and halloumi. Will be bringing my cousins here soon.

소호 지역을 여행하다 들렀는데 근처 로컬들에게 꽤 인기있어 보였습니다. 점심시간에 테이크아웃 해 가는 사람을 많이 볼 수 있었습니다. 자리에 앉아 먹으려면 웨이팅이 필요할 수도 있습니다. 중동 음식이라서 채식이 많을 줄 알았는데, 채식 메뉴는 많지 않습니다. 아마 치킨 메뉴가 가장 대표적인 메뉴인 것 같아 보입니다. 그렇지만 채식 메뉴로 먹은 랩도 맛있었고, 양도 푸짐했습니다. 채식 메뉴 종류가 다양해지면 더 좋을 것 같아요

The rotisserie chicken is amazing and I’d recommend you go just for that. Everything else we had was very good too. Small and cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.

I arrived about 10.15pm but was made very welcome. I chose a hamburger made from Wagyu beef, made from Japanese black cattle reared in Wales. It had the most wonderful flavour - and was perfectly accompanied by delicious fries and Maule & Co pale ale. I concluded with a selection of 5 different types of baclava served with ice cream. The entire meal was a bargain at £25. I would definitely go again.

If you want to eat up town that has tasty food and fabulous cocktails with friendly efficient staff then this is the place to go.

Visited due to positive reviews on this site. Not disappointed. Had chicken salad and humous on side. Both were very tasty - the salad was large with lots of quality ingredients and chicken off the rotisserie. Just off Oxford road - about 3-5 mins walk from Oxford Circus tube. Recommended

We were walking past and the door opened and a member of staff produced a menu for us to look at. We tried to book a table but unfortunately they were taking no further bookings but if we came back there would be some tables for walk ins. We returned and were remembered. We had the full chicken with sides and it was amazing. Service was very efficient. If you good service and good foodCookhouse Joe is the place to go. I tried the Lebanese lager and enjoyed.

Great local place in the heart of town, with tasty food and affordable prices to match. The staff are extremely friendly which makes any visit a pleasure. Will definitely come back!
