Sadly it’s closed down on 16 August 2024. It’s probably the only shop ran by HongKongers.

They offered various food with a little price. But yesterday my friend and me visited here. Unfortunately, salt-crisp chicken is bad. It tasted foul. We informed the staff and she retrieved the food. After a while, she told us the chicken was fine, but she would be happy to provide us with a free fried chicken drumstick. （FYI: We returned the salt-crisp chicken, did not ask for a refund, and did not accept the free food.） It was just the staff’s attitude that made me uncomfortable, and when we were leaving, she asked us very incredulously, "Are you sure you don't want the free chicken drumstick? It was as if we were being deliberately prickly - maybe I'm just too sensitive. All other food is fine though. The salt- crisp chicken was made in the morning, so maybe it needs to be kept at a cooler temperature, considering the weather we're having. When we got home in the evening, my chronically constipated friend had diarrhea - I'm not sure if that was good news for her.

Food is a mixed bag. It's not their fault it's just personal tastes. The food is good quality. Zero atmosphere as the store is very small and has a cramped seating area.

Tried Deep fried chicken leg, fried siu mai & ice lemon tea today, chicken leg is juicy siu mai is crispy & yummy lemon tea is fragrantly delicious! They are 100% authentic Hong Kong street food and famous traditional drink. Will definitely go again!

Good authentic HK food. The bubble waffles and red bean iced milk are great! Good portions and selection of food is nice, the customisation options are nice! Lots of Cantonese speaking people there so you know it's enjoyed by HK locals!

Attended this restaurant last night to collect a 'Good To Go Bag' from you after paying £4.50 the day before on their app and arriving with you at 6pm within the allocated time of having until 6.30pm to collect so I even had half an hour. The lady I asked inform their was no ' Good to go bag' to collect I tried to explain to her I had ordered and paid online but she said their was nothing to collect I have opened the app today to tap that the collection wasn't completed I haven't had a response yet or refund. will keep you updated on this situation I have experienced here

We’ve been buying snacks from Cookguy for so many times, but been wondering why we’ve still never sit down and have a proper meal there. Will make time for that for sure! Anyway, the snacks and everything from there are amazing. Last night, I had a serve of takoyaki. Freshly cooked, it smelled so good and simply delicious. The other times, we had rolls, waffles and some milk tea. Never been disappointed!

Delicious Hong Kong and Taiwan style food

The waffles are delicious! The braised pork rice was okay, the red beans in the red bean ice were a bit hard, and the curry fish eggs were average. The rice balls are good and very cost-effective! Only 23 pounds.

They have a wide range of food that serves very good for either snacks or regular meals. I ordered Hong Kong style waffle, and fish dumplings - and am very happy with what was made. Will defo go back when I am visiting town centre again!

Lovely place to have hk street food

Yesterday, I have ordered three egg tarts, three sweet rice cake and a bubble waffle. The egg tarts were extremely disappointed. The tart base was too loose and burnt, and the eggy custard taste horrible. The sweet rice cake was too sweet. Moreover, the seller didn’t mentioned that the sweet rice cake has to keep in the fridge if it’s not able to finish on the day. Hence, it gone bad the next morning. The bubble waffle tastes as usual and it turned soft and soggy quite quickly. The food from this shop is not worth the money. No next time for me!

睇完鬆仔之後先知道黎度有間香港人開既餐廳 除左Bar枱裡面有三張枱 繁忙時間可能要等一陣 魚肉燒賣配個汁好食 但皮有d硬 台式滷肉飯可以加返多d酒增加返個層次 唔差但有少少平淡 滷蛋好食~ 雞肶有兩款可以揀 但留意最少要買2隻(£7磅左右) 我地試左招牌雞肶好食~ 好大隻! 凍檸茶不過不失 全部食物都係即叫即做 一家人放假行過口痕可以黎試下呀!

I’m rather quite disappointed, it’s my first time trying here and I’ve heard such great things, what a shame that it has been disappointing. I brought curry fish balls, fish dumplings and the matcha bubble waffle. The curry fish balls didn’t have the spice that I really enjoyed when I was in Hong Kong and the fish dumplings was so disappointed since it was hard and felt like it has been microwaved, the spice was lovely though. The worst of all was the matcha bubble waffle, it had no flavour of matcha and I couldn’t even tell that it was matcha. I’m quite disappointed to say the least.

Tasty Hong Kong street food, siu mai (fish dumpling with additive spicy sauce), bubble waffle and the drinks. Hongkonger if you are feeling homesick just go there and you will solve it!

We had pork bun, sticky rice roll, Taiwanese braised pork on rice. Food was amazing!!! Highly recommend their sticky rice roll, easy to crab and go plus their doughnut stick is homemade! Try and don’t forget to have a Hong Kong style tea too, the taste is just exactly the same as Hong Kong. Staffs are friendly too😊

Have moved to the UK for some time, have always been missing authentic Hong Kong style drinks (which are not bubble teas!) especially iced (lemon) tea, stopped by Leicester by chance and saw the good reviews of this place, gave a try and it was surprisingly good! For iced tea the tea base is always the key and this place manages it very well: the taste of the tea has textures, especially a little bit of bitterness which is exactly how the Hong Kong taste. The staff were nice and efficient. Will definitely revisit!

Very delicious HK street food. The curry fish ball is soooo tasty and it is definitely my favourite! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to taste the HK local street food!!

I was recommended this Hong Kong local snacks / street food / drinks place, first impression was ok, staff wasn’t too friendly (unexpected) The place is very clean, bright and colourful, food pictures / posters are quite charming and convenience to show people what they ordering and getting if they have never had them before. Service was ok, it’s a fast food style, order at the check out then wait for food to be cooked / prepared, there are high seats for customers to eat in store, as high seats only, it may not be so suitable for elderly, young children, etc. Choices of food is reasonable, price is a little expensive but it is possibly because of the cost of special ingredients?!

Found this place with super good food! Bubble waffle, Siu-mai, HK style milk tea, highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious food! Can definitely recommend the bubble waffles and fruit punch. Both are really tasty and everything is made fresh in front of you. Staff are really helpful and friendly too. A great place to go for a treat!

The food is so authentic! Never expect there is a Hong Kong style street food store in Leicester. We order chocolate American waffle, curry fish balls, beef tripe and sticky rice roll. They bring back our memory in Hong Kong. We also ordered two drinks, one is Hong Kong milk tea and the other is fruit punch. The fruit punch is spotted on because it is a collective memory of my generation when we went to KTV in Hong Kong back in the days!! The service is good and we do not need to wait for so long. The staff is really nice as I accidentally drop my bowl of fish balls on the ground, they just give me a new bowl of fish balls without me asking. A must-go for anyone who misses Hong Kong or who wants to experience Hong Kong street food.

Great place we found on last trip to Leicester. The rice wraps are authentic, washed down with an excellent cup of hot soya milk and remind me of breakfasts in China. Been back again since. Cookguy is now part of any trip here.

I walked past the shop this morning. Been attracted by the photos on the window display. Went in to try some authentic Chinese Street food. I was amazed. Couldn't believe that I found some local street food in this small town. Originally, I was just having lunch. Their signature chicken leg was massive and reminded me of my childhood. I loved it so much that made me went back to this place for dinner. I had fish dumpling, sticky rice roll, ice-cream mochi and sticky rice pudding. I really wish that my tummy has extra room to fit in more food. Didn't expect the food can be so delicious that I ended up eating so much which I can barely move when I left the place. I am sure that I will visit this place again shortly. Thank you so much for bringing these types of Chinese street food to uk. I will highly recommend you to try this great place out.

Really tasty food and lovely staff

As an ex-hongkonger, super fans of Hong Kong Street food, my rating will be 4.6 stars. First of all, the fried crispy chicken leg(on the bone), that is genuine taste of HK, crispy outside and juicy inside. you can taste the 'salt and pepper', the chicken sweetness and natural marinate. my wife and I still can't find this kind of taste and texture elsewhere in UK and not even in London. its definitely worth a try and it will save you a 13hours fight to HongKong. Secondly, the bubble waffle, all children will love it, again, Crunchy outside and soft inside. ther are lots of toppings to choose but we didn't had any. the bubble waffle itself is good enough. you can just have it one by one and enjoy the softness within.... another genuine teste of HongKong... you can't find anything similar within leicester 100 miles radius... yes, you can find a 'just' similar, taste and texture in Central London China Town, nevertheless, HongKong is not China after all. Last but not least, the sticky rice roll, with three fillings to choose which warped inside a blanket of warm mixture of sticky rice (glutinous) and jasmine rice, the food we hongkonger will have for breakfast, lunch or late supper. its a warm version of Japanese and Korean roll. Our choice of fillings are pork floss, fried dough stick and sliced chicken in bbq sauce. they are well balanced and tasty. In this time of year, it makes you warm and satisfied. All in all, the chicken leg with a sticky rice roll is a very satisfying combination. I am glad that I can have it in leicester.

I like crispy chicken most. It’s so tasty, crispy and juicy. The shopkeepers are literally polite, friendly and considerate. Fresh wipe is provided to clean greasy fingers after eating. Will certainly go there to try all others items.

Extremely pricey for the amount of food you get.

Bubble waffle was very, very good. It's different from what you get elsewhere. Very crispy on the outside and goes well with vanilla ice cream. Frozen yoghurt was also decent.

I bought the Oden and bubble waffle, they are awesome!!! Just the tasty of my hometown.
