Older lady didn't listen to order, put bacon in panini, I don't eat meat. Elderly mum waited ages for soup. Another server threw cans and rubbish into an open bin noisily, washing and clattering dishes. Epensive for what you get. Disappointing as we were amazed the Continentall Cafe still existed in Dalkeith. Choose elsewhere. Shame, it could be a nice wee cafe if it were run better.

I went to the continental café today. I ordered a king-size burger, chips and curry sauce and a chocolate milkshake. The milkshakes was good and was the right amount of chocolate but could have been a bit stronger taste. 6/10. The chips were good too. Nice and well done chips but I didn't get the curry sauce but I enjoyed the chips despite not getting the curry sauce 7/10m The king-size burger was really good. Nice juice burger. Very yummy. 8/10 Overall score 7.5/10 Could I recommend the Continental Café. Yes. Total bill £10.30. I would say for what I got was good value for money. The burger was about £5.30 the chips were £3 the chocolate milkshake was about £2. Would I visit again. Yes. Thank you for reading the review.

Staff are all really nice and friendly, food is good and good portions and tasty But pricing to high now get chips and curry for instance £1.50 for the curry sauce. Cans of juice £1.60+ rather go for lunch at places that do 2 meals for £8 but do like staff

Best sausage egg and chips ever.A bit too much on the chip side though if you are watching your weight!

Had breakfast here and wasn’t impressed- came quick enough and was hot but not particularly tasty - place also looks like it needs a good clean

Despite the intriguing name, this business is not , and does not aspire to be, about fine dining. However, within its chosen range, it gives very good value. The staff are quick, friendly and efficient, the food is served hot and plentifully and it is clear that it commands a very large and loyal customer base, judging by the number of customers known personally to the staff. Agreeable visit to a successful business but I just wish they served fried bread for the Scottish breakfast.

My wife and I go most Wednesday morning to Dalkeith to do some shopping and it has become one of our rituals to make for the Continental Cafe for our double decker rolls superb value
