Connies in Swindon

Came here last night, was staying nearby and read some good reviews. Well I have to say...food was outstanding, service and welcome was lovely...don't expect a fancy resturant as its not that, but the food was fresh , tasty and plenty of it. Extensive menu and they were all so friendly and accommodating. Value for money, second to none! Would have paid triple for what we had somewhere else!

I must say from the outside I wasn't sure if the restaurant was open, on entry I was still not sure if I was in a Chinese restaurant !, it was quite souless in appearance, but with all that aside the food was fantastic & there was plenty of it, the service was also friendly &efficient !. I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

I was so looking forward to dining here. I’d taken a taxi from my hotel and paid a £15 fayre. When I arrived the place looked in a little darkness, it certainly wasn’t screaming we’re open! I walked in, and to my horror it was like walking into a school dining room with the bright lights, no music, no atmosphere, no customers, no staff, just a bundle of toys in a corner. As my title says, absolutely soulless, and dare I say, clueless as well.

Without doubt the best Chinese food in Swindon. Have visited twice in the last couple of months and have never been disappointed. The staff are excellent! Looking forward to coming back!

All homemade and absolutely delicious. The dumplings are the best I have ever had-not frozen like most places. It was really hard to choose what to eat because the menu had so many tempting dishes. I was so happy to see bak choi on the menu as it is not easy to find these days. Wonton soup was very tasty. I will be back for some noodle in soup on a cold day. All the staff are friendly and Connie came out of the kitchen to ask us how our meal was. Connie, it was lovely! See you soon

The food was amazing. So fresh and well flavoured. So many options on this menu, it’s hard to choose a favourite.

5 of us went to Connie's on Sunday night for the all you can eat buffet and it was fantastic. Unlike some buffets, this is all cooked to order, so always fresh and tasty. Great food and great service, and a very full tummy.

Superb food, excellent staff & service and really good value for money. Really good staff, Connie came to chat and asked if we’d like our Main to take away. A great offer as the other Chinese in Swindon refuses to allow customers to take away the eat in food Cannot fault a thing. Thanks so much to Yen too, she’s a diamond !

Connie's is still serving up some of the best Chinese food I've ever tasted. They do an all you can eat buffet, but it's better than any other in town as its all cooked fresh to order, it's just so good.

Food was quick to turn up and order was right but left a bitter tast the only two items that was eatable was the spring rolls and the ribs the rest which was lemon chicken sweet and sour chicken special house rice plain chow mien and crispy sea weed all tasted like old burnt oil left myself and my wife with a bitter taste and not feeling well

Went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and can honestly say that the food is amazing, fresh and quick. The restaurant could do with a bit of TLC, but the staff were friendly and Connie is lovely and caring.

Food arrived quickly and piping hot however that’s where the good things ended, every dish was bland with no flavour at all. I had a mixed meat curry my favourite and couldn’t even eat more than 3 mouthfuls, the sauce was bland and the veg and meat was as if it had been sat around for hours it was all mushy. My wife’s sweet and sour had no flavour to it either and the crispy chilli chicken was soggy, the batter was not crispy in any way shape or form we actually were trying to work out which dish was the sweet and sour and which dish was the crispy chilli chicken. I used this restaurant because of the £15 off through Uber eats and I wish I never bothered. There are much tastier Chinese out there and I won’t be using this one again.

STAY AWAY - DON’T GO, DON’T ORDER AND READ ALL THE REVIEWS - this is not a one off bad meal it is the norm. This refers to a recent takeaway (delivery) Quite simply the worst Chinese meal that we have ever had. The only thing worse than the disgusting food was the response from the alleged manager when we called to discuss. Curry - tasteless Shredded soggy Chilli chicken - totally inedible Salt and spicy ribs - nothing but fat and again - no flavour. Chicken balls - burnt and hard Chips cold hard and inedible On calling to discuss the manager, Johnathan, was dismissive, rude, overbearing and arrogant as well as completely useless and unhelpful.

Rang for a order today only to reliase they were writing me bank card details down on paper. The lady even said she takes it home with her absolutely shocking. Highly recommend not to use this restaurant! Be very careful.

Ordered a take away and the whole meal smelt of fag ash .Rang and spoke to the Restaurant and they said they would send out the manager to see / taste the food and I would only get a refund if less than half of food was not touched which was the case. ( see pic)However they sent the delivery driver back to pick up the food and he would not say if I was going to get a refund if I gave him back the food ?He Said I will call manager and come back , he just drove off ,We then called restaurant and spoke to a rude manager called Johnathon who clearly has no understanding of customer services ,He refused to listen to what we was saying by constantly talking over us.This is honestly the WORST take away I have ever had, AVOID this Restaurant like the plague.

Ordered from this restaurant for a home delivery takeaway. When the food came and we dished it up it smelt and tasted like cigarette ash vile we could not eat it. We rand the restaurant who said they would send a manager out to us to check the food and then if they agreed it was bad would give us a refund. They sent out the delivery driver who delivered the food who just said I have come to get the food, when I said to him the manager was supposed to be coming he said no you give me the food to take back and could not guarantee a refund. He then said I will call my manager which he then just drive off. We called the restaurant and spoke to the manager Johnathan who just basically bellowed down the phone and would not listen to us, he was totally rude to us and did not care . We will never order from here again and would advise anyone DONT ORDER FROM THESE EVER . Disgusting customer

Takeaway delivered for three people. Two of the dishes were ok, the rest was awful - soggy chicken, bland sauces, chewy Crispy Beef, overall quite tasteless. I have eaten in this restaurant a few times in the past and always enjoyed it, so was very disappointed. The best part about it was the Prawn Crackers!

First time eating from here, and deffo won’t be returning. The worst Chinese food we have ever eaten. Would not recommend

The place is not Bad Manager is very very accommodating and friendly the Ambience is not that bad the place needs a decoration or re painted as it looks a bit tired now but the food is so deliciuous that i would recommend them to my friends and Family

Stumbled across this place by accident and now thinking I have been missing out all these years! Relaxed & comfortable atmosphere and made to feel very welcome.

I don’t usually write reviews but on this occasion I am . We ordered a set meal for delivery £23 the bq spares ribs were horrible nothing bq about them I won’t say what the reminded of. Chicken curry didn’t even taste of curry more like a stew but with no taste wat so ever horrific. I rang up to speak to Connie who was very rude to me . If no like then don’t come back . And your right I won’t be . Worst Chinese in Swindon total waste of time

I found the menu really confusing it has loads of dishes but poor descriptions and the lady taking the order only seemed to work with numbers.

Myself and family visited Connie's again last night for one of their "all you can eat" buffet's.

Catered extremely well for Ceoliac Disease sufferers with an abundance of Gluten Free options. Connie also adjusted options which contained gluten to make it gluten free Highly recommended

Ordered four dishes for home delivery. Three of the dishes were lovely and well cooked. The beef curry however was off and smelt of vomit. The meet probably had been left out in the heat (30 degrees summer) and had started to decompose. I phoned the manager to aerive at our house and asked him to eat this dish in front of us. He did arrive but could not eat the dish. The restaurant clearly has hygiene and food preperation issues and for your own health, best not eat here. Environmental health needs to audit the standards at this establishment. The manager refused to give me a refund for the rancid dish

I would say don't listen to the bad reviews below- we went there on a Saturday evening (it was quiet though), and had great service and delicious food. Nice home-cooked style Chinese food, and lots of veggie options, which I was happy about. The staff were really attentive, and with the buffet menu we got generous portions of good food for the price- they even offered duck pancakes to my partner, included in the buffet.

We went out for a meal this weekend to connies. It was an unpleasant experience for sure. We waited for our food for 3 hours even though the restaurant wasnt busy. The manager was very rude and snappy to customers and the waitresses. She kept shouting at us when ever we asked where the food was 2 hours later: The wrong food orders kept coming and no one was apologising. Waste of time. Never going to connies or ordering from there again. Its a shame because food there is nice but we were treated with no respect at all. Regular customer loss after all this.

Table was booked at 6pm for my family, youngest member who is six years old. Very slow service, took an hour to get our food, more interested in serving one of the larger tables. Got bored of waiting to order more food and another drink so we left. Will not be going back. Good size portions of you are willing to wait, not very good if you have young children that are hungry.

Over the years we have visited Connies on many occasions the food and staff have always been fantastic.... we ordered a takeaway tonight the food was great as always and such a reasonable price.... keep up the great work Connie and staff!!!

I went on Tuesday 13th February and had a lovely meal at Connie’s Chinese restaurant. They have a £15 per person order from the menu eat what you can menu. We started with Crab & sweet corn soup followed by salt&pepper; garlic squid - honey butter chicken- and king prawns wrapped in bacon. All this was delicious. Then we ordered main course of sweet and sour chicken, pork with mushrooms and a chow mien all really tasty this cost us £30 for two people this is superb value. The restaurant has recently been refurbished and looks very nice inside. I would heartily recommended you visit this restaurant but turn up hungry

Calling all people who on a weekend splash out on a Takeaway, is there any such thing as a good one, we have just given up hoping the next one we splash out on will be the one, but alas it was never to be,...

Como vegetariano que no puede comer ajo, este puede ser un dolor, pero Connie, como siempre y fussyness acomodo a mis necesidades. . enormes porciones de un par de errores de tonto, pero nada de que quejarse. Me beancurd. En bang black bean en salsa. Este nuevo orden va a la semana.

Pollo al Curry era insípida y sin sabor. La salsa de curry verde y tenía un matiz de las medusas como consistencia. "arroz frito" no era frito, era cocido con tortilla añadida. La "Carne crujiente" no estaba pasada y chili incluso la salsa como era en un recipiente separado. Además, no había "chili", la salsa era dulce y amarga. Los aspectos positivos, la carne utilizada era de calidad regular. Tal vez ellos estaban realmente ocupados esta noche.

Aprovechamos la £15 todo lo que quieras comer. Pedimos un montón de empezar todo de bueno, un campo medio y plato principal. Teníamos dos pintas de cerveza cobra que era perfecto. Todo esto por menos de £40 para dos personas. La próxima vez que vayamos aquí visitaremos aquí.

Tuvimos nuestra tercera comida para llevar connies hoy. Cuando llegamos a casa descubrimos que no nos de lo que pedimos y en vez de decirnos que se había acabado de tofu, decidimos darnos los platos de tofu tofu sin! Deshonesto y no volveremos.

Excellent food, fabulous service at a really reasonable price. Connie's restaurant was a pleasure to visit & will be recommended should any of my Swedish friends travel this way. Thank you Connie for making me welcome and feeding me such great food.

We enjoyed a meal here,having the buffet for £15 each,plenty to choose from and all cooked while you wait!We were very well looked after too.Drinks are quite expensive so that bumps up the bill.The food was plentiful and we asked for smaller portions too but 1 dish would of easily fed 4 average eaters!It was very quiet in the restaurant at first but i think that's because there are so many modern places around old town and people are more drinking rather than eating big meals.A few people came in after us which is good.Connies also does takeaways and we would also consider this. We ordered a bit too much food (as you do) but they were more than happy to bag it up for us,we hate waste too!!!The only negatives would be is it needs a bit of a revamp,it's clean but would be nicer to be a bit up to date with the decor.Lovely people but the young lad that was serving was wearing a hoody,so would be nice if he was dressed a bit smarter,this hasn't put us off though. Give Connies a try you won't be dissapointed.

We enjoyed a very tasty meal on Sunday evening. It is obviously a family business which was reflected in the friendly service with a genuine desire to please!

We ate here tonight for the first time. The vegetarian options were excellent: great tofu and very fresh vegetables.The decor is tired, but the important thing is the food and this was very good.

If you're prepared to take your time eating the best Chinese food in Swindon with original & quirky waiter & waitress service and you're not one of those who doesn't give a damn about food and simply wants to "be seen" in a "trendy" establishment that metamorphoses into a "nightclub", then Connies is the place for you.

We have been to Connie's a couple of times in the last few months and the food is always second to none.The staff are always friendly and often have a story to tell.They do a fantastic £15 all you can eat deal, and unlike most other places, the food you order is always cooked fresh, rather than sat in hot plates for hours on end, so does sometimes take a while to get food if it is busy.Overall a great place to eat, well priced food and the best I've found in Swindon.

Wow, I tried something new when we ordered from this restaurant. I had salt and pepper prawns, my husband had sweet and sour pork. We bought ourselves some Chow Marin noodles and we shared that with each other. What a gastronomic meal, to say the least. Tomorrow is my birthday and we will be ordering from them again.

Ordered with work colleagues £75 of food to be delivered.Rice dishes over cooked as were the chips we had, chicken curry had raw tomatoes and sliced tinned pineapple in and was very very thin on the thick sauce side . Prawn toast was like eating a very dry wafer. It was a poor Chinese even the Prawn crackers were rubbish .Won't be going back for a while

I've reviewed Connie's a number of times, as Mrs B and I have been going there for years. Food is always great quality, and consistently tasty. Staff always very friendly and attentive, and Connie herself comes over for a chat, giving the place a family atmosphere. The buffet at £15 a head is brilliant value - my favourite dish is the mandarin ribs, which are wonderful.

I decided to order from Connie's after it was recommended to me by a friend. I wish I'd never bothered. My experience went from bad to worse. My bad experience started when I called to place my order, the lady I spoke to did not seem to know what she was doing. We finally managed to get through to my order but when it came to take my payment she left me on the line for ten minutes while she calculated my bill and then attempted to take my payment from my credit card, she then told me after speaking to one of her colleagues that she would have to call me back. After 20 minutes I still had not received call. I called back to be told that my order had been successful. I hoped that that will be the end of my bad experience however I was wrong. When my food arrived I was completely disappointed. My chips were overcooked, my six vegetarian spring rolls turned out to be two large spring rolls dripping in fat. My satay beef was stone cold. I had a portion of crispy duck which was much larger than I expected, this would've been lovely had that also not been cold and mushy. The one redeeming factor was the prawn cracker which were lovely.I'm left wishing I'd just made the chicken salad I was going to eat before I decided to 'treat myself'.

I visit Swindon 5 or 6 times a year to visit family. Each time I'm in Swindon, a take away from Connie's is must. I have never been disappointed with the food or service. I always call in to order and wait for it, having a cheeky glass of wine whilst doing so! The food comes before I am finished drinking the wine. Connie is a hard working chef who works with her equally hard working son, who now recognises us and remembers our order! Will continue to visit Connie's every time I am in Swindon.

Always loved this place. The quality and customer service has never changed in 20 years!!! Highly recommended. The food is as good as ever.

Moved away from Swindon some 10 years ago and used to spend most weekends at some point in Connies. She has always served the highest quality of food and never been a disappointment. I was curious to see after all this time if things had changed or not. Well, what can I say. It was an absolute pleasure to sit and dine in the restaurant once more. The host was most welcoming, gave advice on what the best options were for our party giving us the best option to taste a number of dishes, including a new honey chicken dish to be on the menu soon. If you are looking for one of the best dining experiences in Swindon now, I highly recommend Connies. Great to see that they also offer takeaway & delivery too.

Ok, so I know there was a blip with the press etc a few years ago, but Connie and her family are so welcoming. The food is great, huge prawns and juicy ribs and they will give you whatever you ask for and box up any leftovers. We had a great time.

Food was completely inedible and ended up in the bin. Absolutely disgusting. Everything we ordered was soggy, sauces were strange tasting, the prawn crackers were even stale! Such a disappointment and waste of moneyWill not be venturing back here again. Was a shame Jade Gardens was not open as they are 1000 times better

Why have I not been here in years?! What a lovely place. Staff very attentive and super friendly. Not rushed at all which we liked. We had a set meal for four people which was plenty of food for all four of us. Everything in that meal was so tasty and delicious and cooked wonderful. This Chinese restaurant beats all the other bigger ones in Swindon by far!! Already thinking when to go again, to try the buffet. Superb Connie!

On walking in on a sunny Saturday night we should have realised something probably was a amiss- it was more or less empty.We went to the bar and after a few moments was greeted and shown to a table in a friendly enough manner.Not feeling all that hungry all we really wanted was a simple vegetable curry. The young waiter thought our choice was a bit bland and told us as much! It was as if he was going to sit down and join us! All a bit odd. Anyway, he eventually got the fact that we wanted what we wanted and went on his way.The whole atmosphere was peculiar. Its as if they have their regulars and didn't really expect to see any new faces.The curry wasn't bland it was decent enough.It was a generous portion and we couldn't finish it but if it hadn't been taken away without being asked if we had finished we might well have picked away a little bit more!We won't be returning.

If you fancy a Chinese meal in Swindon, Connie's is THE place to go. Friendly, attentive service and excellent food at a very reasonable price. We stuck with our tried and trusted menu favourites and the fried pork dumplings and mandarin ribs were as great as ever - I think they may be addictive!The best Chinese for miles around, highly recommended.

A friendly welcome and the buffet menu for £15 seemed a natural option.The starters were very good. Spare ribs, prawns, seaweed. Aromatic duck was very good too.The main courses were accompanied by special fried rice and noodles which were well prepared and tasty. My choice of fish and chicken fish was not so good.Very reasonably priced wine list. Vouvray under £20.All in all really good value.

Pretty sure what was delivered to us was the day before leftovers reheated!!!! Inedible!!!!The order was also wrong despite me having an email confirmation I was told that it was me that was wrong.They have refunded my money but only once they had collected to prove we hadn't eaten it!! No chance of that!!

On usual chinese closed so thought would go to connies. What has happened probably the worst meal I have ever had. Sweet sour just tasted of chilli and nothing. Spring roll enough salt for gritters to lay on the road and prawn chow mien just again tasted like nothing but chilli again. This restaurant used to be lovely what has happened. Sack the chef that's for sure.

We have been eating at Connie's for over 30 years and our visit last week was one of the best ever. Connie has put all the bad press and reports behind her and is very much back with great food, choice and value.The restaurant looks a little tired but until custom increases again it will be a while before any renovations are done. Look past the decor and enjoy the service and food.

The Food cooked fresh, Cheap 15 pound buffet food to order and drinks are reasonably priced !Will be going back again with friends

We used to really enjoy going here for a family night out, the service was always friendly, not great but always welcoming. However we visited 2 weeks ago and there was only 1 other table occupied in the restaurant (2 people) so we expected a decent service. How wrong could we be. The young lad serving had no idea what was on the menu and was clearly just helping out. He took forever to offer drinks and even longer to fetch them, we then ordered the starters, which again seemed to take an awful long time to arrive, they were good and fresh and we really enjoyed them, he then ordered some crispy lamb pancakes and this took an age to be served. all seemed good when it arrived, however after a coupl of minutes I picked up some lamb and it felt cold, upon further inspection it was more than cold, it was frozen solid and clearly not been defrosted. We stopped eating and pointed this out to the young lad serving us, he seemed sorry and went to get someone to sort this out. Not one member of management came out to apologise and they they had the nerve to offer us a £2.50 per person discount. But still expected us to pay the full bill -£10 I explained that that wasnt good enough, the lad went out to the kitchen but again came back and this time said we had to pay for each item we had purchased plus all drinks. I tried to make to point that the fiasco meant we were half eaten, didnt really want to go somewhere else and that as it was thier error they really out to try to be a bit more apologetic. It was falling on deaf Ears, so we paid up and left. Its a shame as we really did like coming here, but we wont be doing so again.Shocking service, Frozen food and even worse they just didnt seem to care.Give it a swerve.

Easy to say, do not eat here. Poor service, poor quality food. Do not recommend this place at all. Ate here as guests with another couple and would never ever go back. Eat anywhere else but here

Time to get the family together for Mrs B's birthday, so Connie's was the ideal choice. The food was excellent as always, and just kept coming....the fried dumplings were a particular hit with everyone, as was the trio of crispy duck, lamb and chicken with pancakes and all the trimmings.Friendly service that was attentive without being pushy, and tremendous value at £15 a head, plus drinks. If you haven't tried Connie's, give it a go - you won't be disappointed.

You can order off the menu or an all-you-can-eat for 15GBP each. This is a good deal if yu choose carefully to get higher value items. Their crispy duck is very good and their seaweed is also good but singapore noodles were oily, shrimp and vegetable was disappointing. it was cold inside the restaurant; they were somewhat attentive but having been to Jade Garden which I also reviewed, we will not be returning to Connie's.

I could not fault the food, it was delicious! The best sesame toast ever. The spare ribs were melt in the mouth. All the dishes presented were of the highest quality in both cooking and taste. The staff were helpful and always had a smile,nothing was too much trouble. A very memorable evening and I will definitely make a return visit in the New Year.

Ordered via Just Eat and food was delivered within 45 mins. Each dish was unique in its own flavour. Not salty like lots of other Chinese takeaways. Couldn't fault it. Delicious.

Finding myself at a loose end as Mrs B is away, I fancied a Chinese feast - and yet again I was not let down at Connies. I've reviewed it a number of times before, let's face it after around 30 years, it's a Swindon institution, and I've never been disappointed. Tonight's delights included butterfly king prawns, fried dumplings, mandarin ribs a d crispy shredded lamb. All were excellent. Great taste, well presented and brilliant value at £15 for the eat as much as you like buffet menu.What can I say? Try Connie's, you won't be disappointed.

The thing to remember about Connie's food is that it is authentic, not the mass produced versions you get at more commercial places. Most dishes she's spot on with the flavours and it's not pre-cooked, which is always a plus. We just had a late afternoon meal and once again I am surprised by how I can taste each herb / spice in each dish. I'd not had a meal from here in a while and now it's back on my list. Good stuff.

We have just visited Connies after some time away. It is very sad that this restaurant appears underused. Probably follows some bad press last year but the scores on the doors are now 5 star so people should give it another try. We chose the buffet at £15 a head which was excellent value. All our food was freshly cooked and superbly tasty. The crispy duck was a very large portion and all the dishes we ordered were perfectly presented. Wine was good also. On a Wednesday evening it was very quiet and it certainly deserves more custom. However, on the plus side, unlike some of the other Chinese restaurants in Swindon, we could enjoy our own conversation without being drowned out by the noise. All in all an excellent meal and will definitely return.

Service is very good and staff friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and get very big portions. Food is very reasonably priced. The buffet menu is excellent value and great if you want to try a variety of different dishes. Restaurant a great size, not too big and not too small. I find in very large restaurants it is very difficult to hear conversations with your friends, Connie's is ideal. The restaurant also has several round tables for larger parties nearer the back of the restaurant. I have been many times now and always have a great meal and enjoyable evening.

Went to Connies for a takeaway meal for three. Ordered soup and main meal for each. They even made a custom meal that was not on the menu, and gave us a bottle of Pepsi on top. Took only 10 mins or so to be cooked, and the guy brought the bag to us as we were parked in the lay-by. So perfect service exceeding the expectations. The food however was not perfect - felt not fresh, more like yesterday's or the day before. So mixed feelings about the place, will perhaps try it again in 2-3 months.

Connies is such a nice place to eat my favourite dish is the salt and pepper chicken with egg fried rice. The portion sizes are big so if you have the buffet don't order to much to start of with such tasty food will recommend to anyone. The service is excellent.

Visited again and the buffet option still excellent value and quality. Salt & Pepper prawns are the best I have ever tasted. Always a nice touch for the personal Connie appearance. Cannot wait to visit again and we will be back. A shame it was so quiet but maybe another Groupon offer will help with further advertisment?

I am now a regular visitor to Connies. It got a bit of bad press recently but it provides the best value Chinese around for me.The House Chow Mein typifies this, with loads of meat (chicken, pork and beef) and king prawns that makes it a meal in itself. Compare this to the off-tasty and very sporadic tiny pieces of meat you get in Welcome Express across the road and Connies is streets ahead. I said this to two friends recently who then tried Connies and said they would not switch back.I love the ribs, meat spring rolls and the Mandarin Spare Ribs (which aren't ribs on the bone but lean strips of pork battered and cooked in batter with garlic, spring onion and chilli) are just amazing. Definitely worth giving a chance.

Having not been to Connies in Devizes Road for a while thought it was time for another visit, what a total disappointment. The decor was always simple but the fare always good but the food this time was dreadful, I am trying to find a good point but even the overpriced Rioja was less than adequate. Crispy duck (that wasnt) Lemon Chicken that was made with orange sauce, a very dried fried rice and a beef dish that the local show repairer might have been glad of. We were the only diners on a Thursday night (at 20.00) and judging by the way the 4 young staff chatted and jollied at the back you could see this was the norm. An unexpected "hello" from Connie who might have found the time to iron her polo shirt was followed by a line of excuses about why things were so bad.... sorry but time to retire Connie !!

I'm not a big fan of Chinese cuisine, but love rice dishes, I asked if they could do me a special fried rice with extra prawns, beef, chicken and lots of garlic in it and it was no problem :-) it tasted bloody delicious xxx other half had sweet and sour chicken balls and I pinched some of them again gorgeous... Would definitely go there for a sit down meal.... Connie was so sweet as well as the rest of staff xxx

Used to be very good service and food used to visit. A lot but recently the food was very poor,people complaining,service was good but food lets it down big time

Popped in here on my way back home for some food. It seemed to be really busy inside so that was a plus for me as I usually stick to where I know. Found the service to be good and the portions of the meals to be fair. I didnt find it greasy like some chinese meals I have had over the years and the seaweed wasnt too salty either. I found the prices were good for both the meal and the drinks. All in all I would go back again.

Has anyone ever had a Chinese curry with a whole tin of pineapple in? And chopped tomatoes? Obviously there to pad it out so they don't have to use so much beef (or could be dog!!)One mouthful and I still feel sick. Awful service too. Avoid avoid avoid

We took a party of 15 people to this restaurant on the 21st April. We had a great evening -food was fabulous, hot & service was great as fresh food dishes kept being brought to our table. In our view a very enjoyable evening, so not sure about a previously review which painted such a different experience. I think some people should refrain if they cannot submit an unbiased review!!! Have booked again for a party of 6 next week and looking forward to another very nice meal. Thank you

Sorry guys, I thought you were meant to be one of Swindon's oldest and most experienced but I don't know if it was a bad day or if it's just gone down hill over the years. If I had the guts I would have walked out and not paid however I don't think it's fair.Food - came out late, cold, wrong, mains first - starters after, each person on table had it arrive at different time, got rice first then ten mins later got the main course, poor quality and ruined our evening after the wait and bring "abandoned" by staff, didn't eat it.Drinks - no draught lager; fine, but was quite pricey for a bottle which was somehow flat.Cleanliness - the worst, food on the bottom of all our plates, sent th back and got new ones which were also filthy. Cutlery got sent back twice.Staff - looked like it was all their first days. Filthy clothes, sweaty and shouldn't be in a restaurant environment.Decor - okay, not too good, looks like a persons front room.After waiting long time for everything I just paid and left. We walked out so deflated and would never come back here again.

Thank you for a first rate, totally delicious 3 course dinner. We were so well looked after by Connie who really knows how to look after her diners! We enjoyed a 3 course banquet which was so tasty. I have eaten many Chinese meals over the years and this was the best I have had in a very long time. Outstanding,

I visited Connie's yesterday with my family, and thoroughly enjoyed an outstanding meal with magnificent service. I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone in search of an unforgettable fish.

Me and Mrs B have been eating at Connie's for years, and we've NEVER had a disappointing experience. Tonight we dropped in on the spur of the moment, and treated ourselves to the £15 buffet. As usual, the food was excellent, incredibly tasty, piping hot and beautifully presented. My favourites....the mandarin ribs are mouth wateringly wonderful, and the fried dumplings with chilli oil dip mmmmmmmmmmmm just thinking of it is making me yearn for more. Mrs B is a big fan of the shao mai pork dumplings. For mains we had mixed curry (very tasty) and chicken and cashews in yellow bean sauce with lovely special fried rice. If you've still got room for pud, you can do a lot worse than the lovely crispy toffee apple, teamed with a scoop of ice cream.All in all, a great meal, friendly staff, and fantastic value - what more can you ask for? I recommend Connie's wholeheartedly.

My parents and I dined at Connie's a week ago. We were so disappointed after a promising start. We opted for the set meal for three and the spare ribs were delicious. The staff were polite and friendly. However, the five dishes for the main meal arrived painfully slowly, one dish at a time! Although visually it looked good, the taste was bland. When we are out together, it's always fun to say how much we are enjoying the meal but it was very telling that we all remained silent during the main course. We all absolutely love sweet and sour chicken but the sauce was far from sweet and the battered meat was rock hard to be honest. We decided on dessert. We perused the menu and when the waitress came to take the order we were told that they didn't have what all three of us individually wanted. We chose again and the answer was the same. "Well, what HAVE you got then?" An unapologetic discussion went on with the person behind the scenes and our waitress and we settled for what they did have! As it turned out, my Mother and I enjoyed what we 'had' to have. My Father didn't do so well. He chose a lemon sorbet which was served in the most inappropriate dish and was as solid as a rock. Tea or coffee was part of the set menu so I had tea and my parents had coffee. It arrived before our sweet (which I personally don't like) and was full to the brim but was given a small pot of milk as well? I took a sip of my milky tea (yuk) and found it tepid! I asked for it to be heated up but the waitress returned with a black tea (piping hot) to which I could add my own milk. How sensible. It stayed hot until I'd finished my dessert and was extremely nice. Hoorah! Sadly I don't think we will make a return visit. Shame....as the staff were very polite.

Had a terrible evening. Poor food delivered by inexperienced staff. When you try to complain politely, you get this barrage of noise, unnecessary language, and intimidation from the owner, who always wants to get the last word.Should have been a nice relaxing night. Turned into a masterclass in how to deal with rude and unreasonable. I apologised to the family for choosing this restaurant. Glad it wasn't a special occasion!

Husband and I eat here quite often and always delicious food. We always choose the £15 buffet, all you can eat from the menu and cooked fresh for you. Great fresh food! Exterior and interior doesn't look much but don't let put you off, a hidden gem in Swindon
