Connellys Chippy in Pendle

We called here a little while back whilst visiting friends. Really enjoyed our fish and chips here. The wonderful friendly service requires a special mention also.

Absolutely fantastic, genuinely one of best chippys I've been too! Have a habit of going to a chippy every time I visit a new place when following the footie and this is best I've been too yet

Was great service at first they did forget my drink but I asked and they sorted it but then got home opened bag of wrapped food to find they've missed an item partner ordered battered jumbo sausage we paid for it but they didn't pack it, disappointed seen as it's my new local chippy and now I can't be certain I'll get everything I pay for

Went to get fish and chips for all the family as I have done a few times before but this time they were extremely busy I spent £37 on our food which I received after an hour wait when I opened it up at home the fish was burnt and greasy the chips were greasy also most of the food ended up in the bin don't think I'll be visiting again

Staff really friendly, asked about the irish curry and they gave me a taster of sauce and chips to try. Fish and chips were superb, fresh, good portion and for price a bargain.

Checked on the net that Connoly's was open. Struggled to get there as I have had hip surgeries. Had to grit my teeth and walk. Got there and it was CLOSED!! A long painful walk home. So very upset. They need to publish the correct info on the web.

Chips were good, freshly made. However, the home made cheese and onion pie lacked flavour and the pastry was hard as a stone.

Been twice now with my daughter good food especially the fish. If anyone rated this less rhan five stars they where born with a chip on their shoulder. Im very suprised it doesnt have ques. If you havent tride it please do. I the deal sealer with me is they take card payments.

Connellys has always been a fantastic traditional chippy. The new owners are doing the name proud! The fish and chips yesterday was he best I've had for a long while. Keep it up. I'll be back!!

I feel bad giving this place a 3 rating. The staff which I think is a mum and son team are very welcoming. Lovely people very talkative and they serve your food with a smile. Very well priced and great potion sizes. BUT.....: The food isn’t isn’t good enough. That’s the problem. The food just isn’t good enough. The chips are very mushy. The fish is just ok, nothing special. I wish I could give this place a 5 star as price, potion size, service is all bang on. The food is just bang average. Such a shame because Connellys was a real gem back in the day.

Only been here a couple of times so far and both times the food has been amazing. Cooked fresh to perfection always. Good prices too. Would be coming back whenever i feel like having a chippy. Visited a couple of times before been ok This evening waited 20 minutes to get served , considering you should order the fish to be cooked fresh , asked me for my order and was packed straight away !!!!!! got home batter was soggy on the fish and it was stone cold , chips were ok , think the fish had been sitting there for a while !!!!!! That’s why it was so quick , £8 for two cold fish and chips Won’t be visiting again in a hurry

We visited yesterday after deciding to have a chippy tea. We haven't visited this chippy before so we thought we would try it out. We received a warm welcome on entering the shop. They were very friendly and it was nice to have a chat whilst waiting for our order. The shop was very clean. We found the food to be spot on and the fish was delicious. Definitely going to be visiting again.

Travelled from Rochdale as I had heard great reviews off friends, got to the back of the shop where I was greeted by one of the employees who was very welcoming, had a worry about the food being cold once travelling back to Rochdale however food was still piping hot, ordered the fish and chips and chips curry and pie, top tier scran and would definitely recommend to the locals and surrounding areas of Nelson!!!

Update 13 nov 2020 Still first class service and tasty food. Please keep supporting our local English food takeaway. Great to see them open again and taking telephone orders for collection. We have been 3 times and the service is first class. The portions are just about right. The fish ( lightly battered) is first class. Only 4 stars at the moment but we are sure this will increase to 5 very soon if they continue this first class collection service. All the best Update: increased to 5 stars. I have been popping in over the last few weeks. The standards have not dropped. Portions are still very good. Fish tasty and chips cooked just right and tasty. Staff very friendly and premises are Covid19 secure. Keep up the good work.

Been 3 times so far got same each time forst rime was 5.20 for sausage chips and gravy and a can of Coke thought that wa expensive, got same 2nd time cost me 2.90 cooz got same 3rd time cost me 3.30 wonder what its gunna cost me now

Visited today for the first time and absolutely loved it. The fish was thick, juicy and tasty and the chips were great as well. My wife who normal goes for a large sausage tried a bit of my fish and comment that “it’s better than the fish in Blackpool”!Lovely staff, left with a smile on my face and a wonderful view of Pendle Hill.p.s. there is a bench round back if you want to enjoy your chippy in the open air whilst taking in the surrounding countryside incl. Pendle Hill

This is our 5th visit. Food always consistent. Delicious fish & chips with amazing service. We can't praise enough. Looking forward to seeing the rewards this business will have in the very near future.

Sat in today, haddock and chips for 3 of us. The food was lovely, just the right amount of batter on the fish, the chips were cooked perfectly. The measures regarding the covid were in place. Staff were great, very friendly, the young man who served us was attentive and seemed to really care about customers. We will definitely return

This is the first time I have ever left a review on any subject, I thought that this time I would like to. The first time I went to Connelly’s chippy was a few weeks back, and I would like to say that the customer service and friendly atmosphere within this family run business is what every chippy should be like. Not only that the food is outstanding and If your after a great chippy with exceptional service this is the place to go :)

An absolute must try under the new management! Great service, establishment looks welcoming, clean and has the little extra touches above your traditional fish and chip shop! I normally go to Briercliff road chippy or HOLTS on nelson But so Connelys was under new management and thought let's give it a try Parking around the back.So easy parking Went on tues night at 6pm offered fish and chips large Chinese curry sauce and large mushy pea's Fish was lovely batter was nasty Chips were hot and crunchy the way I like it and the peas were to die for home made mushy pea's Never wrote a review about a chippy but this one definitely deserved one Lovely Lady who is running the business Was very friendly My son's very fussy when it's comes to fish but he wolfed it down Will definitely be returning. if only for the mushy pea's that were perfect

Very well presented fish and chips. Fish was the best I've had in a long time, new owners have done a fabulous job of updating the decor and also the menu. The place was gleaming and I have to compliment the staff as they have only been there a couple months and accomplished so much in the time served. I also saw a new rating of 5 star hygiene on the door which isn't surprising as I have said the place is very well cleaned. Will be returning in the near future.

Just been to connolly's today after work as its normally closed when I get home and I have been wanting to try it since moving to the area. Well 10 out off 10. I ordered a large fish and chips and 2 Sausage and chips. Sausage and chips I was told was spot on and the fish was the best fish I have had so far. And the staff are very friendly defo be going again

The staff were REALLY pleasant & friendly, They are new owners of two weeks. They have decorated and the made the place look really fresh.they informed me that they intend to start serving breakfasts soon, which I am eager to try. The chippy tea we had was cooked as we waited and was very nice.

Went here for a quick fish n chips. Took it home and I noticed the fish was a pinky orange colour, not white as it should be! It put me off so I just had the chips, won't be returning.

This is a very nice shop with a lovely clean cafe with a beautiful view across to Pendle Hill. Friendly staff , efficient service .

Chanced upon this little gem in search of a chippy tea with our 5 and 3 year old. The owner couldn’t do more for us. The food was great, there was an impressive view from the seating area and the whole place was immaculately clean and very reasonable too!

Joe and James have taken this back to the kind of quality service people had when John Connelly had it. Lovely food and lovely service.

Changed hands again April 2017. The new owners are doing a great job and have improved the batter (which was already good). Can eat in or take away. We used eat there all the time. Yet to experience this under the new management. Definitely recommend this place. So relieved that the guys are doing so well.

Their pie are amazing but the fish and chips are the best for miles.
