Common Grounds in Chichester

This cafe is our go-to when I visit my girlfriend at uni. We always get a vanilla iced matcha and some form of sweet treat, which never disappoints. The place is lovely and the staff are extremely welcoming!

Lovely coffee shop! The coffee here is truly exceptional. You can tell the baristas take great pride in their craft, as each cup is made with care and precision. Whether you’re into a classic espresso or something more adventurous, the menu offers a great variety, and each drink is perfectly balanced. The ambiance of the shop adds to the experience; it’s warm and inviting. The staff are friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you can meet a friend for a chat or settle in with a good book, knowing you’ll have a quality drink in hand. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates great coffee in a relaxed environment.

Best coffee locally, sometimes a bit of a queue and wait but this I'd the best around!

Although nice, my flat white was OK at best. But I loved their vibe and style. Cinnamon bun was again, alright. The Brought in bakery kind, not the home baked kind. 4 stars, not 5

A bit more seating with a couple of new Tables. It still serves the, "Best Coffee in Chichester", bar none. My preference is for a Cortado, twinned with one their magnificent Cheese Scones. This is the best coffee shop in Chichester. Hands down. We’ve been coming to Common Grounds for a few years now, and it is exceptional. Everyone who works here (owners and barista extraordinaries) are kind, friendly, welcoming and really care about what you experience as a customer and the quality of the coffee. Why go anywhere else when you can get incredible coffee, homemade cakes and support local business owners? We love Common Grounds and the whole team - every visit makes us smile.

This is by far the nicest coffee and cheese scones I've ever tasted. The place is a little small but they make up for it with the service and perfect staff. This place has incredible coffee, lovely snacks and it attracts decent polite customers. Absolutely love it

My wife Amy and I have been coming to Common Grounds for quite a few years now. We've brought friends, family and colleagues there and rave about the place to anybody who cares to listen. Shamefully however, we'd neglected to leave a review until now, perhaps subconsciously trying to keep Common Grounds for ourselves. Anybody who visits will tell you that Ben brews the best coffee in town (and much further afield for that matter). He buys great, freshly roasted speciality coffee and regularly rotates single origin filter and guest espresso coffees to keep things interesting. Ben clearly cares a great deal about making his guests great coffee; from the grind, to the water filtration, to the puck prep, to the presentation. You will notice this attention to detail in the finished product. Sarah's expansive and ever-changing selection of handmade bakes are the best you'll find. So much so that we asked her to bake our wedding cake. We're lucky she agreed, as we wouldn't have anybody else do it. The resultant lemon, white chocolate and elderflower cake was met with universal adulation. I'm still fielding questions about its origin several weeks later. Best of all are the people; Ben, Sarah and their team are always kind, thoughtful and attentive. Their hospitality is peerless. In sum, Common Grounds is probably as close to the perfect coffee shop as is possible to achieve. Best cafe in Chichester, hands down! This little gem is tucked away in the heart of the historic city center and, in my opinion, it's the best cafe in town. The coffee is always excellent, there's a fantastic selection of delicious pastries available all day, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The only downside is that it's not open later in the afternoon. 😀

I visit regularly. The staff are lovely, the coffee is superb, the cakes are very tempting! The one downside is the small amount of seating. Easily the best coffee in town.

As someone who is looking at opening a coffee shop, this place is something to aspire to. Top quality coffee, great service and great atmosphere. One of the best coffee shops I've been to, with really friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you are in Chichester and enjoy coffee, this place is a must!

Recommended by Google and I was not disappointed. I only wanted a coffee whilst waiting 40 minutes for a train and wandered to here, which I would otherwise never have found. A delicious flat white in a sensible sized cup and, if I had been so inclined (couldn't justify it so close to lunch!) the selection of cakes and nibbles looked delicious. My takeaway coffee was made quickly and efficiently and both staff members who spoke to me were really friendly. Lots of options and clearly labelled goods for those with dietary restrictions. Not much room inside but plenty of atmosphere if you wanted to stop for a chat and there were any seats available.

Definitely the best coffee (Clifton Coffee) in Chichester in a small independent coffee shop just off Little London. Home baked and shipped in cakes - my favourite is the cheese scones. A steady stream of office workers show they are building a reputation for take out coffee too. Friendly owners.

Fabulous coffee and cake. Just my kind of vibe. Chilled, independent coffee house, tucked away from the main bustle of Chichester.

Small but perfectly formed, this cafe serves coffee that's a cut above, and superior cakes and pastries too. You can usually get a seat, although takeaway is also available. The staff are just so nice to you; they brought us glasses of water with our coffee on a very hot day. The fact that all the reviews are 5-star speaks for itself.

I absolutely LOVE this place! The coffee is perfection and I am very fussy! It is absolutely on a par with the most sophisticated specialty coffee places I have visited. Other than the coffee there is a delicious selection of tempting treats and everyone working there is lovely, smiley and obviously takes great pride in what they do. I thoroughly recommend!

Been coming here for years now, and the coffee is consistently excellent! (For context, I’m from Melbourne AU 😉) Such friendly staff too. There’s not a huge amount of sit-in space but just get a takeaway and wander around beautiful Chichester 😊

Super cute and trendy little coffee shop that focuses on excellent coffee! And it delivers. We dropped in for a Chai Latte and Dirty Chai. Super friendly service, super chilled environment, and gorgeous cuppa. Fresh water delivered to the table with our drinks, and friendly chat from locals and customers.

I've only discovered Common Grounds in the last couple of months ago and I'm so glad I did! I used to live in London and have struggled to find any local, independent coffee shops where the coffee is genuinely good, but Common Grounds is better than any of the London coffee shops I used to go to! The staff are clearly very passionate and knowledgeable, as well as really friendly and welcoming :).

This was an amazing place, coffee and cake selection were both outstanding, as was the taste of both. Lovely staff who were so accommodating. Sat outside on the bench, and enjoyed watching the world go by for an hour. All in Chicester should visit this lovely little place.

This place is amazing. The coffee is always incredible and the brownies are seoncd to none. We have visited multiple times and will always return. It would take some beating. The interior is small but perfectly formed, and especially cosy on a rainy day.

This is the BEST coffee shop in Chichester by a million. Me and my partner recently found this place and have been back nearly every day. If there’s a queue its worth the wait… the coffee is exceptional along with a huge selection of fresh cakes and pastries and the staff are simply wonderful . A must!

Popped in after researching best coffee in Chichester, and we weren’t disappointed. A small, friendly cafe with delicious coffee. Lovely staff, nice atmosphere. Cakes also looked good but we didn’t have any. Bought some coffee beans to take home. Definitely recommend and we really enjoyed our coffee.

A wonderful place to have a coffee and a cake.The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the cakes are just so srummy and the coffee, is so very nice. They even have bags of decaff coffee beans, they can grind them to what ever grind size you like. Number one grind in my opinion is the best, no need for coffee filters or machines, place a spoonful or so of coffee into a cup or mug, add hot water and milk if desired, the granules will settle to the bottom and there you have the perfect coffee. The decaff coffee is super delicious, it does not taste like decaff. I bought a bag for my friend, she grinds the beans herself and has told me that she at first missed proper coffee, but has now become so used to decaff. Sugarcane Decaf is the name. Oh, and the cinnamon bun... Oh my, its hard just to have the one. This wonderful little place is by what used to Dunnaways taxis.

They have very good coffee and decoration. I tried their flatwhite and it was really good taste of coffee. It is on the backside of the main street so you have search for it literally. It worths the try. It is really small thought and I’ve seen so many people grab their drink on the go. If I were a local, I would be a regular costumer.

I love this bijou cafe. It's just hidden away enough to be mainly a locals' hangout. It's focused on quality coffee in expertly made drinks with an enticing range of cakes. It's also friendly, pretty cool and locally focused. What more could you ask for!?

I own a café and was extremely impressed at the delicious coffee and amazing cakes, not to mention the lovely friendly owners who make each person feel special!! As a South African we tend not to queue but even the queue was good fun as everyone chats to each other and they clearly love this small but amazing little café!!

Sadly, next visit likely to be January (or February). From midnight tomorrow Havant Borough Council (including Hayling) will be upgraded (?) to Tier 3... So perfect timing for an Americano at the Table. And two lots of Treats - Cheese Scones for lunch and Almond...
