Comie's Caribbean Grill in Oxford

The waitress even came to find us when we couldn't find the restaurant—which is hard to find—because the staff was so very kind. The food was excellent, and from my several trips to the Caribbean, I can attest to its authenticity.

Great place, good food, good portions, great service, Family Loved it. We have been there again. We also order delivery to our house😂, that’s simply how good their food is!

Superb. Went in for a quick lunch, ended up staying for drinks too. Went back in the evening for some music and some beers. Great atmosphere and brilliantly friendly staff. I’d happily drive back to Oxford for the curry goat.

Absolutely delicious food and brilliant service. Low key, chilled and relaxed vibe, but, the food! The food. We had the jerk chicken and bbq chicken with a side of plantains. Sticky, memorable sauce which luckily I had a wet wipe to remove from my fingers, because I couldn't bear to leave the smallest bite. Spices balanced and layered, without heat, sweet buttery plantains, fluffy rice, crisp salad...just divine. We will be back to eat everything on the menu! Sophia and Guy

Thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Comie's. The curried goat was excellent and the peppered steak was even better. Friendly staff. Loved the atmosphere in the place.

We have just had our first visit to this hidden gem. My girlfriend and I, both had the Curry Goat, which came with Rice and peas, Mac n cheese and steamed cabbage. We both gave it a score of 10/10. We shall be back when we next visit Oxford.

The quality of food and service is impeccable, friendly and good vibes! The curry goat and jerk are top notch. Cannot rate the dumplings and plantain as sides enough- hearty portions packed to the brim with flavour!

Such a great experience, I had Goat curry and mum had Chicken curry both were cooked on the bone for hours as they just fell apart, the rice n peas, veg and mac and cheese were lovely and very filling. We also had a delicious rum punch. The lady serving was super friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately my mum lost her bag and as we were leaving I happened to mention it to the waitress who had it behind the counter andreturned it, one of her regular customers found it and handed it in, still with all mum's cash and cards in, which was amazing and we were so grateful for. What a great find, if I were local I would be back regularly!

What an amazing find. A little corner of colour and Caribbean cuisine tucked away by an Oxford highway! The added African twist made it even more fabulous. I had the nkwobi and jollof rice which were delicious. My partner had the oxtail stew... divine! Gee the manageress was welcoming and very warm. We will definitely go back.

We visited Comie’s whilst staying at the Premier Inn hotel which is a 5-minute walk away from the hotel. Great authentic restaurant with excellent food and beer. The staff are very pleasant! A very enjoyable evening. Thank you!!

A lovely little restaurant tucked away in Garsington Road! I really enjoyed the atmosphere that the place gave and the food was generous and tasty. I had the jerk chicken which came with steamed veg, rice & beans, and a slice of mac and cheese. I enjoyed it and I would love to go again. I think a Caribbean style cocktail would have been a welcome addition!

I contacted Comies to see if they could provide food for a birthday party. It was quite short notice and I had a requirement for up to fifty covers. You can imagine my pleasure when they said that they would be able to provide the food, deliver and set it up. The staff were fantastic and helped me with my choices from the menu. On the day of the party, the food arrived on time and was professionally set up on warming trays. Well, it was a great success, jerk chicken, goat curry, vegetable curry and of course dumplings! All absolutely delicious. My guests loved it. So a big thank you to Comies for their amazing service and food 😋

We placed an order through the yo-yo app at 13:00. We received an email stating there would be a delay and the order would arrive at 15:15. It’s 15:34 and there is no sign of the delivery. Furthermore, no one is answering the phone at the restaurant. I would never order food for delivery from this restaurant.

There were lovely people, delicious dumplings and their goat was delish!!! The lady who worked there was very kind to us, great portions of food.

We were in the area and popped in for lunch. The food was full of flavour and the price was great. We had the jerk chicked, curried coat & oxtail - all with rice, peas and a slice of mac. Delicious!

I was over from London for a short break celebrating my birthday and even though I pre-booked and was a little late everything I had read was definitely true to its nature. I felt like I was back in the carribean the food was delicious and the atmosphere top notch! Had they had cocktails available it would have been a perfect score notheless I would go back again on my next trip to Oxford and my gratitude goes out to the manager too 😀

Coming from the Netherlands and finding out on a misty evening that Comie is still going strong was a relief, the ultimate friendly welcome ,laid back reggae all over the place and the superb Jerk chicken were as great ( if not better) as we remembered. If you're in for something off the beaten track ( quite literally) this is the place to go to. Friendly priced,delicious and served with a big big smile.

Came here last night and we’re sooooo glad we did!! The vibe was very Caribbean with the music and decor - hard to believe that the place is just off a main roundabout on an industrial area. Parking was a bit of an issue but don’t let that put you off coming here. There wasn’t a massive menu but it had the things we wanted. We ordered dumplings, jerk chicken, lamb chops, and brown chicken stew. I can honestly say it was the nicest Caribbean food we’ve had. If we come back to Oxford again we will definitely come back. Also if you’re staying at the Premier Inn nearby, it’s easy to get to so leave your car at the hotel and walk - it’ll take 5 minutes. Fabulous!!

We went late on a Monday eve - with half hour till closing we were still welcomed even tho we were the only customers at the time. Food was great - its about 4-5 miles out of town - very handy for the mini factory - so a little out of the way from Oxford but if you are nearby definitely Go!!

Absolutely loved it here. Totally different vibe to what we are used to. Laid back, fun and great music. Staff were so friendly and clearly wanted guests to enjoy their food. Incredible value and, absolutely delicious. Took us back to our Uni days when we ate carribean food a fair bit. This was 👌👌 Service was a bit slow but, that really didn't matter. It just made us want the food even more. Worth the wait!

We had an excellent meal here last night. The staff couldn't have been more lovely, the waitress even came to find us when we couldn't locate the restaurant which is difficult to find. Food was really good and having been to the Caribbean a few times can say its very authentic. I'd highly recommend.

My friends visited the restaurant before the lockdown and said it was great but...the takeaway was awful! Late, tiny and very expensive. £10 for a box meal which was the size of a normal takeaway box. We are still awaiting 2hours after we ordered or my son's meal! We thought we would support local business in this hard time but over £50 for five of us and we are still hungry is not good. Sorry but we will never order from here again. Simply delicious. I have never had Jamaican food outside of Jamaica so good. I will come back to Oxford again just for this place. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. Arrived after a long, wet day running around Oxford. Was greeted, with a warm and friendly smile from the head waitress who’s name I believe is Kimiesha. She asked, how my day was as she could see I was soaking wet. She listed, what was available that day and although there was only another table of guests playing dominos it had a homely feel to it. The mural, is very nice to look at whilst waiting to order. My food, arrived promptly and was piping hot (just how I like it) I asked for a smaller portion due to being on a ‘diet’ however, I was craving some Jamaican food. The curry goat was cooked perfectly and the cabbage was a great mix of oniony/garlic. Would definitely recommend. Only qualm, is the location. Everything else perfect. Will definitely visit again in the future.

Decided to try a nice local spot for my anniversary with my girlfriend. Was pleasantly surprised have heard a lot about Comie's but thought it was a takeaway service. There was a big table and although they were a bit loud it was a Friday night so understood this. I ordered fried chicken and my girlfriend got oxtail. Food came within good time and the portions were good. They bought us a complimentary drink for our anniversary which was very sweet of them. The sides were great too. Would visit again in the near future

Great little hideaway! I was recommended by friends and will certainly be passing the recommendation on! Staff were very friendly and very attentive towards myself as I have a few allergies.... food was great.we all had a mixture of foods to try. Surroundings were very lovely! Definitely be returning!

Read the reviews and gave this place a go as the reviews looked very good indeed, we were wrong. The place is like a small hut but we expected that, they have tried to make it feel carrabian which it does to some degree. It was not the cleanest of place either. We ordered the jerk chicken and a curry, both comes with rice and a slice of cheese, both came to the table within 3 minutes. To be fair both of ate most of it but we expected more, we were so hungry afterwards we left and ordered a pizza, there was not much chicken on either plates. Service was a young man wearing tracksuit, again not a major issue if you are happy to be served as in a school canteen environment, It is not a place you would dress up and spend the evening at. Sorry.

After horrid long journey down here to Oxford, found here by chance and what a treat ! Beautiful fresh food - tasty authentic and beautifully presented. Friendly service and lovely selection on the menu. Music and decor all add to the fabulous Caribbean vibe.

Visited here after doing the tour of the BMW mini plant. Found the restaurant on trip advisor and we were not disappointed. Friendly staff and simple authentic delicious food. Highly recommend this place and wish we lived closer!

Walked to this place from my hotel based on the string reviews in TripAdvisor. At first I thought I'd taken a wrong turn and it is a tiny place tucked among office and industrial buildings. I went in and it was empty and I almost thought of going somewhere else, but was I ever glad I stayed! I had brown stew chicken, with sides of fried dumplings and coleslaw and it was all bloody lovely! The dumplings came out first and when I bit into the first one it was an education. All of the food was attractively presented (but not pretentious) and full of wonderfully balanced flavours.

Amazing food 😁 curried coat and jerk chicken is delicious. Mine and my husbands favourite have had a takeaway many times and travel the 20/25mins journey because the food is soooooo worth it ❤️ Great service great food what more could you ask for 😁

This place is a little out of the way, but the food was excellent! I can recommend the ackee and saltfish and the curry goat, both so tasty and some of the best Caribbean food I've had. Great dumplings and plantain, and the lightly curried vegetables on the side were worth it on their own - and I say that as someone not overly bothered about veg. Staff were welcoming and the guy we spoke to (who I assume runs the place or at least does the cooking) clearly cares about his place and the food he serves. It's also pretty inexpensive, one of the best cheap-eats places you could go.

Ordered food for 20 people with delivery. The family and friends were delighted (with hard to please family from Guiana ahah!). Local friends now want to go to Comie's as they loved it. Thanks again for your help! Will be back soon!

I had a lunch with my children ( 11 years old and 8 years old).

Staff friendly, food mediocre have had better, not worth the money the surrounding and fittings are more than outdated, the loos door opening into restaurant location right next to industrial estate.

We once had a nice curried goat, For less than a 10 pound note, The dumplings were nice, So was the rice, And the decor was quite bespoke.

We have had a take away from here before & my husband and son had eaten in , so it was my turn to experience the warmth which was three fold, the temperature and colour of the restaurant, the warmth of the staff especially bedazzled by the tracksuit of the owner, and lastly the warmth of the food .... you won’t be disappointed if you only experience one of these but I believe it comes as a Jamaican package

Went to this restaurant as we were staying local next to Oxford United football ground and watching the football match on the Saturday. Apart from the fact there was no Jerk Chicken left nevertheless the food was very tasty and we had Chicken Curry and Barbeque Chicken washed down with a bottle of beer. Great setting and easy to find with very friendly staff.

I opted for Comie's for my evening meal whilst in Oxford. I have to say I wasn't disappointed; fast service, excellent value for money and delicious food!

We love curried goat rice and beans/peas. Not to spicy as that's a no for wife if it is, it's perfect. Staff are friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable. Pudding was great too. We will come again

What a friendly place well done to Comie and his sister Annie. We went on Saturday night and a great time we ate curried goat and Comie prepared a vegetable curry for me the meals were great. It does not take long for them to cook . Very kind and chilled. the Christmas decorations were very good. the grilled chicken was spectacular. The staff were really friendly too.

Upon arrival I was absolutely delighted to see comie & his staff had decorated the entire restaurant with balloons, table confetti & table cloths. It was a surprise birthday dinner & they allowed me to have a table solely for cards & cake etc.

I’m a regular customer to Comies caribbean Grill, using the restaurant/takeaway up to 3 times a week.

We made a trip to Comies to try out the Caribbean flavours. When we got there just before 7pm, the restaurant was deserted. There was only one chef/waiter present and he was a little laid back, but really friendly. Eventually got our menu's and then waited another 10 minutes and placed our orders. We went for the sticky wings and the split ackee dumpling. Both were really good, but we did have to wait ages for the food, as they were cooked from fresh (well, the dumpling was).
