Stumbled across this restaurant by chance on Google as we were in the area for a family day out. It was a busy Saturday evening, and we were able to get a table without a booking, although it was super busy. We ordered: Homemade garlic bread 5.95 Calamari fritti 7.95 Funghi trifolati 7.50 Linguine allo scoglio 15.95 Salmone in salsa astice 24.95 Tagliatte carbonara 12.95 The staff were super attentive, took our drinks orders right away, and it came really quickly. The restaurant was full of large tables for birthday parties, and their service from ordering the food to taking our empty plates away were pretty impressive. Nice friendly staff who were chatty (shout out to the cool guy Niaz 🤩). Always checking if we were OK etc. All in all, great food, great atmosphere, and great experience. Will definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the area and fancy a good Italian fix!

We've wanted to try this place for a while so we finally booked for 10 people for my wife's 50th birthday. We arrived just before 7, Firstly it was very noisy so it was hard to hear our conversations. Drinks came quite quickly but were very expensive. We all ordered our food just after 7 the starters were brought out in about half hour. We waited & waited for the mains. At 8.45 I got up to ask a member of staff how long it would be, she said the food was coming as we speak, they weren't, 10 minutes later I asked another staff member, he said he would sort it now, no, so I asked again to someone who looked like a manager, she kept saying sorry & they were very busy. I said it's not good enough, nearly 2 hours for our main meals! Most of us didn't want to eat anything by then. Service wasn't great, like other restaurants when there always there when you need them. Even though we had a bad experience, there was no incentive to return, we weren't offered anything to say sorry. I had to find someone to ask for the bill & then find someone to pay it! Good job I checked the bill coz they tried to charge us another £25 for drinks we didn't have! All in all most of the food was very nice, some average, staff need some training on being more attentive & the time waiting for food was the worst ive ever had! If your hungry, dont go. First & last time. Will not be returning!

Staff were brilliant, food is absolutely gorgeous.

I’m shocked by reading the previous reviews so I can only assume we hit a bad day. Firstly I would say the food and quality of ingredients were poor and well over priced. One of our party ordered steak which came out and was grey unappetising piece of meat the steak was sent back and another sent which was just as bad. The majority of the dishes were all served with ‘Chinese takeaway style chips’ another person ordered chicken which was dry and hard. The sea bass which was ordered didn’t have crispy skin and was served with a jug of sauce. The presentation of all the food was awful. The drinks were way over priced almost £30 for a bottle of white wine £3.40 for a glass of Pepsi which was poured out a big bottle of Pepsi. The only decent thing was the starter and the 25% of voucher you get from the website. Would never come here. Was actually the worst meal and worst Italian I’ve ever had. I’m so shocked by the good previous reviews. Just so inauthentic and quality of the actual ingredients was shocking. Could make much nicer fresher food at home. I would save your money and give this place a wide birth.

Went for an anniversary meal as a couple. We were visiting YWP and didn’t want to eat there, so booked Colosseo on chance as we don’t know the area and Google picked up Colleseo as near by . So glad we did . The food was beautiful , nicely presented and excellent service. Parking outside as well. We will go back if we visit this area again . We had the bruschetta ,meatballs carbonara and trio of Sicilian dessert pastries.

Can only describe the whole experience as outstanding. The food was first class along with excellent service and value for money. Will certainly be going again

Absolutely great food - lots to choose from. The wine selection is really good, and reasonably priced too. The tables are just right, as in not being too close to each other and the decor and ambience is fab!

My family and I went for a birthday tea on a Thursday night. It’s a large space nicely decorated, it wasn’t overly busy, so the staff were very attentive. My daughter wanted a bespoke pizza of tuna and sweetcorn which wasn’t an issue, and they kindly obliged. One of our party also had a nut allergy, again they were able to reassure us that she was able to eat without worry. We all expect one of us had pizza they were all lovely and one had a carbonara, which was a good portion and very tasty.

Lovely family lunch out to kick off my Wifes 40th Birthday Celebrations. Great surroundings, staff couldnt do enough even catering for a few fussy eaters. Will be back

My favourite Italian in Doncaster. Faithful for its fabulous fillet steak & peppercorn sauce... delightful staff, quality food in a lovely environment.

We attended for a quiet family meal after my partner had come home from hospital after spending most of the past 12 months in hospital. The food was quite good, the service was very slow despite it not being very busy (over 2 hours for a two course meal), it was very noisy with a large party shouting all of the time that we was in there, people in the large party were vaping (which could have very easily put my partner back in hospital) Very disappointed

We live close by so we thought we would give it another go we were taken to our table our drink and food orders were taken we ordered a portion of garlic bread to Go with our starters this never arrived it was very noisy so conversation was almost impossible at the end of the meal we asked for the bill having checked the bill we had been charged for the garlic bread I queried this after we had paid they then reviewed the bill but instead of a revised bill we were charged twice for the meal thankfully the owner noticed this and issued a refund the food is great but due to billing mistakes we will not be going back which is a shame for us if you are dining here Go through the bill before paying

Fabulous food and service, last night, good piping hot and delivered in a timely manner. Not many in so hard to judge atmosphere but there was a large party in the corner who seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were staying at the Hilton so a 5 min stroll, highly recommend if your staying in this area

Just generally disappointed, my steak was a poor cut of meat and came almost cold, the wife's pasta was very cold and my sons dish was made from what looked like very poor quality minced pork, it was a family do so we didn't make a fuss but we won't be going back again

This food was probably the worst food I have eaten for a very long time. Or should I say I had 1 bit and same with the misses and we left this. The meatballs had no taste, pasta was bland for been covered in a sauce which I couldn't even tell you what tastes like. Soup was meant to be potato leek and was dish water. Went there for Valentines meal. Ordered a medium fillet stake, and received this. Looks like they run out of fillet and just folded some beef just to look like stake ,also forgot that should have been medium not well done.

There was a group of 17 of us - waitresses were friendly and attentive - Bobby was brilliant and really looked after us. We had a discount voucher that was honoured. The food was amazing we all enjoyed it and it all came out as ordered and was hot - none if us had to wait too long. I had the fillet steak with fries - I have to say it was the best diane sauce I've ever had! I made sure that my compliments were given to the chef.

The food was nice but for the price I expected it to taste better. The waitresses hovered over me my entire meal, stood and stared at me most of the time.

The whole surroundings of this place give the impression of a really great restaurant with possibly a great menu, but unfortunately that's where it ends for me. The waiters in this place are pushy even though it's still nice, and here I come to the food... I was tempted by the steak, and it's the specialty. place.. Unfortunately, it was the weakest steak I have eaten in years, more cooked than baked in sauce. Maybe I'm not a master, but neither the mushroom nor the onion felt like frying pan for me, plus the price of beer... I leave it for evaluation. It's rare for me to be dissatisfied. but unfortunately it was bad 🤔

A wonderful meal in a great atmosphere for a birthday treat

Really nice swanky clean restaurant with a lovely chilled atmosphere, the service was brilliant, the waiters were exceptionally polite and the cocktails/drinks menus were amazing but sadly the food was a level par and didn’t really have a wow factor which sadly was the only disappointing part of the evening for me & my partner. Hence only 4 stars because everything else was truly exceptional

Nice ambience, good food served tastefully. Slightly expensive but worth it. Has it's own car park. Decent wine list. A good place for a relaxed Italian meal with family or friends.

This is probably our favourite Italian restaurant. The food is excellent, staff attentive and ambience great. I have no doubts about recommending this restaurant and will be visiting again in two weeks for my wife's coming birthday.

We took our grand daughter for dinner and had pasta dishes and seabass which were all cooked perfectly. We always enjoy this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone. They made us feel welcome and the staff are very attentive. We look forward to having dinner here again very soon.

Would not be a visit to Doncaster to see family without a visit here. Always a warm welcome and great value. Very varied menu and the food is simply gorgeous, beautifully served, hot and generous portions.Well worth the two hundred mile journey......we will be back. Thankyou to everyone there.

We have previously visited a couple of years ago some of our party liked it others didn’t,thought we’d try it again for my cousins birthday,All the food was extremely salty,My mums lasagne was horrible tasted like cinnamon,I had cannelloni which said mince&spinach,I cannot describe what was in side the pasta it was like grey/green mush I queried this&was told it was mince&spinach,no sign of mince at all,I was offered a drink in its place as I didn’t want another meal.Would we go for a 3rd time….absolutely not,we’ve to some amazing Italian restaurants&this certainly isn’t one of them.

We liked the look of this place when we have driven past, this time we called in for a family birthday celebration. Excellent food and service every time whether we come in to eat or use their takeaway next door. Pizzas, steaks and salads all excellent. I’ve even had pasta as a takeaway before and still great! 10/10 for me.

We'd booked ahead and on entering we were told, in no uncertain terms, it's busier than we expected, we close at 9 and there's only one chef so there'll be a wait. We were then curtly waved to a table. As it was only 7.20pm we didn't mind too much. On deciding what to eat we asked the waitress to take the order to which we were told "There's a wait". What?? To take the order. Errr, yeah, ok. Pass. Drinks arrived, followed by starters / appetisers, which came out slowly, one then a few minutes later another 2 followed eventually by the 4th. I asked for the wine list, gave my choice and was told "We don't have that", 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice "We don't have" Would you care to tell me what you DO have?? The waitress then went to another table, started taking their order and half way through walked away to greet 2 new arrivals (Who promptly left, Obviously didn't want to serve them) then returned to the rest of their order. 2 of our mains arrived so we waited for the other 2. One arrived, followed by another tables 2 meals, followed by a different tables meal (We're still waiting). EVENTUALLY the 4th meal came. It was blatantly obvious the waitress didn't want to work that evening but was obviously willing to be paid by the remarks made when delivering the 4th meal, "Huh, I can't believe how busy we are, I wanted a quiet night and to close early" NOT the kind of thing anyone in hospitality should be really saying to paying guests. The food wasn't too bad but trying to find a decent restaurant in Doncaster of late has become an ever increasing mountainous trek. What should have been an enjoyable evening was ruined by disgraceful service with proffered unwarranted remarks. Try and find a restaurant where service is not an issue.

Great food. The staff were superb. The whole experience, from booking over the phone, being greeted on arrival and exit was just first rate.

This is a very nice restaurant, the first timeni have been, the food was very good, I had a steak and it was cooked just how I asked, the staff were very friendly, it was alittle on the cool side, and the corridor to the toilet was cold, but I'm only saying this as an observation, the toilets were also clean and there was Covid hand gel on entry to use.all in all a very good experience and we would go again as a family. 👍

Visited tonight with some friends.. from arriving the starters took 1hour 15 and were nice. The mains arrived two hours after we arrived, and some were awful. The carbonara was totally tasteless and the lamb shark was not trimmed and covered in chewy fat. We complained about the carbonara and this was taken off the bill- a bit disappointed we were not offered an alternative after waiting 2 hours for it. We will not be returning to collesseo unfortunately as the service was slow and the food was not the best.Food is however good value for money.

Brilliant food, the pasta dishes were amazing, as were the pizzas, the service staff were so friendly, we visited the Monday before Christmas and we’re the first people there, however the atmosphere built up quickly which was great, once again I cannot thank the waiters and waitresses enough for their brilliant service we will be returning soon ☺️
