Great pre-show dinner, but worth the trip whether you are seeing a show or not. Interesting and delicious selection of sharing plates with specials. Well cooked and well presented. Staff were lovely, attentive and friendly (thanks Olivia!). Beautiful surroundings too.

Absolutely amazing service! A beautiful venue which comes along with amazing service from our server Olivia. The food was phenomenal with amazing bread which is made by the chef- whom also provided homemade desserts. Would recommend to anyone who loves food but also loves a fancy romantic night with their partner. It is not very busy on non show days which is lovely if you’re looking for a quiet evening!

Great food. Good veggie and vegan options - beetroot, gratin and anna chips were all awesome. Excellent service from Olivia.

Very hit and miss on the small plates and v average for the money. Some plates were perfectly pleasant, but some were v disappointing and tight-fisted. Only one chicken thigh on the plate for £14 was particularly mean. No really memorable flavours and some terrible desserts. V little love from the staff and felt like a chain restaurant with little identity. We were unceremoniously asked to vacate our table after 1.5 hours. Shame as lovely venue.

We had an excellent dinner here. We came before a concert at the Beacon, but we would be pleased to come at any time. The dishes we had, mostly small plates, were all very good indeed and modestly priced. The service too was first class, and all in a beautifully converted venue. Highly recommended. We will certainly come again.

We booked this restaurant because we were attending a concert at the Bristol Beacon and it’s located in the complex and therefore handy. We should have taken a closer look at the website because we tend to avoid restaurants that serve small sharing plates because we prefer traditional courses and tend to find that “Tapas” doesn’t work well with northern European cuisine. It’s a confused and confusing concept that, for some reason comes with an expectation that a certain number of small plates will be shared and these will come to the table when they’re ready rather than in a logical sequence. The very friendly waiter asked about us about allergies on arrival, showed us to our table, and then explained the concept of shared small plates. To my mind, if a concept has to be explained to new customers then it’s apparent that expectations are being managed, because it feels very much as though you’re at the mercy of the kitchen’s convenience rather than your own experience. We explained that we’re more traditional and asked if we could have certain plates served at the same time so that we could fashion a main course and were told “No” because the vegetable plates cooked faster than the meat plates and those would arrive 5 minutes later. To be fair, this is what happened, but we sat awkwardly with vegetable plates (sides really) getting cold that were not really easily shareable. We had one plate of quite runny leek and fennel gratin with a spoon to serve it, but only a knife and fork each to eat it with. We wonder how more traditional kitchens manage to serve meat and vegetables together! The small plates we ordered didn’t really come as discrete dishes in their own right. By this I mean that one small plates will be with an about five small heritage carrots on some purée, which the concept dictates are started before any meat dishes arrive just feels a bit odd. The same with the frites and previously mentioned gratin. As we still had time to kill before the concert began, we had a look at the desert menu and were very surprised that there’s one obvious omission for a sharing menu- no cheese board! We did express our surprise to the waitress and she said she would feed this back to Chef. On the plus side, the red house will ordered wasn’t available so we enjoyed a very decent Rioja for the same price, the service was prompt, polite, and the food was tasty. We also felt that we had plenty to eat and left the restaurant satisfied. With regard to the ambiance, it’s a large space and very well lit, with a lot of people going back and forth. In spite of this, a waitress knocked into my seat serving another table, so more thought needs to be given to how the tables are spaced. In spite of the soft jazz being played, the cavernous location makes everyone’s voices echo and therefore I couldn’t recommend this as a romantic or special occasion venue, although it was fine for a meet up with friends or a pre-concert meal.

Gorgeous food in a lovely setting and brilliant service from Olivia. We would particularly recommend the Pommes Anna Chips - definitely get a couple of portions!

This restaurant is pretentious to the point of being silly. If they want to serve tapas, then serve tapas and call it tapas, not main meals. No wonder it was almost empty at prime time on a Saturday night. Such a disappointment.

Oh my goodness, this is a hidden gem that, for some reason, was absolutely dead on a Friday night. The food is phenomenal, the venue is stunning & the staff were so lovely & helpful! Not only that, but the bill for 4 people having wine & food was extremely reasonable. Would highly, HIGHLY recommend. Don't let this one slip past you if you're visiting Bristol

Wonderful new restaurant in Bristol. The food was excellent with some unusual flavours and options, plenty of vegetarian dishes and a struggle to choose just a couple of dishes. I will definitely be recommending to others and look forward to coming back to be able to try some other dishes! A great evening of fabulous food and very attentive service. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have visited this place a couple of months ago. It was an amazing experience and the food was delicious We returned last week because we wanted to share with the rest of the family the wonderful experience we had last time but it was a very disappointing experience. The menu had changed to worse and the quality of the plates as well. One of the burratas was spoiled, the cod wasn’t properly cooked, the beef felt rough, not tender, and in general just didn’t taste great, this was the opinion of all 6 of us. Big shame! Unlikely we will be going again On the positive side the staff were really friendly and helpful. Very good service

Lovely venue but probably wont return. Staff are very inexperienced and the food wasn’t actually very tasty apart from the Mac and cheese. Wine wasn’t cold.. For £100 for two, we’ll go to Sonny stores next time

We booked a table prior to an evening performance in The Beacon main hall. Our macaroni small plate was surprisingly good. Followed with Beef Rib (me) Burger (my wife). Both were excellent - very tasty and attractively presented. There’s a good choice of wines and the ambience was spot on. Service was first-class, all in all very impressed!

Superb welcome even though we were very early for our booked table. Attentive service throughout the evening. An excellent varied menu with a mix of small plates and big plates to suit everyone. After a lot of debate we went for fritters and truffle mac and cheese to start. This was followed by a Colonnade burger and roast hake with brown shrimp and a side of steamed greens. Everything was perfectly cooked and generous portions. Extensive drinks menu including a good non-alcoholic beer. The restaurant itself is a beautiful space too and one of the most relaxing places we’ve eaten for ages. We’ll definitely visit again either when going to Bristol Beacon next door or on another visit to the city.

Wow! Very impressive. They’ve only been opened a month and they already have their act together. We opted for small plates and everything was delicious. Very tasty! The staff were all lovely and helpful. Our server Olivia made us feel right at home. Attentive but not pushy. We’ll be back again!

We highly recommend this restaurant in the city centre, it’s beautiful and warm, the customer service and food are simply outstanding and the prices are reasonable too. We had an evening meal following the “ Name a Seat Supporters Celebration” on 16th January and we were warmly welcomed and served by Olivia. We went for the burger menu and it was delicious! We can’t fault anything and we are already looking forward to our next visit! Sabrina & Laurent

The Colonnade restaurant is newly opened in the renovated Colston Hall site (now the Bristol Beacon) and serves the concert and theatre audiences as well as other visitors to the Hall. It is open from midday until late evening and has an all day menu offering small and larger plates of food prepared on the premises from local ingredients. The idea is to provide a short selection of tapas-style portions for sharing. The wine and drinks options are appropriate to the menu and the single glass prices are reasonable by today's standards. It remains to be seen how the catering will develop but two features are beyond doubt: the designers have created an elegant area with a Mediterranean feel which capitalises on the original, Victorian architecture and provides delightfully spacious and airy seating; and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. In particular, our waitress, Olivia, was most attentive, and well-informed about the menu. She made every effort to ensure our visit was enjoyable. Well worth going, even for a quick bite, and a haven of peace if you are waiting to attend an event in the Hall.

We had the sourdough bread and the marinated olives for nibbles to start, followed by macaroni cheese with a side of dressed leaves for one person and the other had the 20 hour beef rib accompanied by steamed greens. Everything was delivered promptly, tasted delicious and the service was attentive without being overly fussy. It's also a lovely space and the prices were reasonable for the portion sizes compared to other Bristol restaurants. We've got a few forthcoming events in the Beacon this year and I'll look forward to coming back.

A fabulous building but a disappointing experience. Bar the mac and cheese, the food was all rather void of flavour, the plating very ordinary and some of the portions vs the price didn’t stack up. The service swung between fussy and formal one minute and then no one around to ask for the bill or clear plates. We also didn’t appreciate concluding our meal with the staff member saying the menu had been a struggle for the chefs and right up until the last minute the dishes were watery and tastless! At £100 for two I won’t be returning or recommending anytime soon.

First visit to the Colonnade at the Bristol beacon. Warm welcome and good service. We had a couple of small plates - burnt sweetcorn and sumac fritters with pickled chilli jam and pumpkin and cheddar Bon Bons + romesco - both of which were really tasty and didn’t stay on the plates for long! along with olives, pickles and homemade bread to share as starters followed by a perfectly cooked piece of Hake with seaweed and shrimp, an amazing Caesar salad and a decent plate of roasted roots + almond and herb all which we also shared. Lovely space to dine in and will defo be back!

Stopped here by accident after smelling the food from the shop next door. Had the jerk chicken and it was one of the nicest pieces of jerk over ever had in my life. The rice n peas and Calalloo was also amazing. Tasted like nannies cooking and will be making this my regular spot so I can work my way through the whole menu. What a great find!
