They used to be "famous for their sausages", but it's still a cracking pub.

Always packed after work. The tables get booked very quickly so it's hard to find a seat so we stood outside. Reasonably priced drinks and good atmosphere.

Aga the delightful bar lady is a treasure.

We had a few drinks in the afternoon and the staff and service was excellent. Aga was a particular delight. We have used the Colonies multiple times and it was always good.

Amazing experience! We were charged for the test of 2 beers and we did not know that they would charge us. Despite os that, it was wonderful

Excellent spot in the heart of Victoria . The staff is very friendly . The kitchen is very good as well. Decent prices for the city centre. There is also a nice outside area for summer days .

We discovered this small and intimate pub while staying in London February 2024. Great staff and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Great British Pub very close to my hotel. Pie and chips were delicious. Made my visit to London.

Had a nice lunch at the Colonies pub after seeing an exhibition. Tucked away in the back streets of Victoria. Much more character than the chain restaurants in the shopping centre. Good and friendly service for typical pub food.

Super kind and helpful staff! Would recommend, affordable pricing and great atmosphere inside the pub. You should go here while in London 10/10 🫶🏽

We dropped in for a drink after a chilly winter walk . Welcome was warm and friendly, bar was comfortable and prices ok for central London.

This is a rare gem of a bar, lovely garden great food but mosy importantly the staff are down to earth, warm and welcoming. Perfect experience 👌 ✨️

Good place to stop by for a quick bite. Waitresses were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Ambience was good and the bathrooms clean. We had fish and chips. It was ok and good too but tastes bland. The portions were also good too.

If you are looking for a typical British pub experience this is the place to go. It is loud and crowded even on a weekday. Guinness and fish n chips made it a perfect pub night.

This is such a cute place to hide from the cold and the burgers and sweet potato fries were amazing!! Ordered extra of the fries to have friends try too! The shop and music is so cozy and the waitresses were super sweet and attentive!

Cute pub just down the street from where we stayed. Staff were very helpful and the food was served quickly after we ordered. Place was busy and we found the last table available. There were several tables reserved so if possible I'd suggest a reservation.

I visit the Colonies from time to time and have never been disappointed. The beer is fresh and the few times that I have eaten there, the food was good. Good pub with friendly staff.

Visited this pub on Monday after work, it was quiet and they had plenty of tables available. Good Greene King pub in Victoria.

£16.45 for fish and chips. Terrible just like rubber. Scampi, burnt. Small portions that wouldnt feed my 3 yr old grandson! Food returned. Staff spoken to, money off bill given. Sack the chef.

Very cosy athonsphere, lovely staff and good local beers near the Buckingham Palace. We visited with our 10 months old baby. Definitely will return sometime!

Name is a disgrace - Really nice place and staff are lovely. The naming of the pub is a disgrace. You would not call a pub Auschwitz, slavery or genocide - what's the difference here. The problems of the past are incredibly real for all those ex colonies and it's not ok to just casually name a pub after slavery, genocide, torture and cultural control.

Stopped in here to eat fish and chips in an English pub cuz that's what you do as a tourist in London for a day lol. The food was tasty! The atmosphere was lively as one would expect in a bar. The service was exceptional! Check this place out!

Popped in during a walk..lovely staff and great beer garden...tried som vegan ch*cken and was pleasantly suprised. Good range of ales and mine was in good condition. Will call again when in the area

It's always been alright but the pints are very frothy (I had 3 different ales) and it's Greene King beers, which aren't particularly to my taste but may be to the taste of others.

This is a really nice pub near Victoria, tucked away on a quiet side street. Staff are friendly and attentive, atmosphere is great. We had lunch and opted for the sharing dishes. We were a little disappointed with the food. It was fine, but not remarkable at all. I would say great place for drinks, but skip the food.

Visited this pub for work drinks. It was nice. The service was good and the staff were friendly. They were very organised because we had a large party. I liked the food. It was lacking a little seasoning (just my preference). The wings were divine. They played good music. I would visit again.

Typische Pub. Toller Service, Ambiente ist so Ok, mehr aber auch nicht. Für einen Abendbesuch aber geeignet. Ich denke es gibt bessere Pubs, insbesondere beim Essen. Fish and Chips Portion war riesig und Geschmacklich Ok. Die Nachos waren nicht so der Renner - da könnte man sich schon etwas mehr Mühe geben. Biergarten könnte auch etwas aufgehübscht werden. Für mich leider nur Ketten-Durchschnitt.

Great pub near Victoria, be better when the building work has finished in rear garden area, cosy internal drinks and busy outdoor patio and seating area. Only few mins walk from tube and main line

A bit too quiet and lacks hygiene, with glasses that need to be cleaned more thoroughly, and the food selection was rather bland, albeit the beer selection was okay.

Peculiar place. Had an offer on for negronis ( cocktail) I asked for vodka rather than gin as the base and apparently that was a huge problem and didn't qualify. Just odd.

Eines der vielen tollen Pubs in London. In einer ruhigen Gasse gelegen, betritt man das Lokal und drinnen und im Garten "steppt der Bär". Sehr gutes Pale Ale. So muss es sein!

Good pub grub. Excellent staff and vibrant atmosphere. Will be back. Nice vibe and busy apart from one thing... Would have been 5* but for two well built thirty something men, who had already drunk way too much when I arrived at 18.30 (one fell on top of me near bar doing some horse play and could easily have broken my wrist), who were still causing mayhem at 21.30 when one tripped over his own feet spilling two full pints on floor. See photo post staff arriving to clean up. Staff dealt with consequence so well and in good humour but it should never have happened.

We booked on line a few weeks before for a special event for a meal, they closed the kitchen, ran out of gas on the beer pumps and couldn't even open a bottle of wine. We had to look elsewhere for lunch, the one pint of beer I had (Timothy Taylor Landlord) was very nice.

I have walked past this pub many times but not gone in. I was due to meet a customer for an informal lunch and recommended this place based on the reviews about the food by other reviewers. We ordered pie and mash and also scampi with chips. It was average; reminded me of food you get in a canteen; processed elsewhere and heated on site. Perhaps I am being naive but it really isn’t anything to rave about. On a positive note, atmosphere was great as well as the beer!

Was returning from shopping and wanted a quick drink near to hotel. Late afternoon on a bank holiday monday. Staff friendly and tables/seating clean. Located in a largely residential area on edge of business and retail district near to Buckingham palace rd. Another pub on corner opposite called cask and glass (reportedly the smallest pub in London). Has rear outside seating area.

It's not bad, good wine list, outdoor seating, music was a bit too loud for easy conversation though

Great food and service. Will was knowledgeable and helped us with beer and food choices. This was our first English pub on my bucket list trip and it was a great choice.

Ordered the 3 cheese macaroni and the mushroom chilli as my girlfriend is trying to convert me to vegetarian . The mushroom chilli is absolutely incredible, full of flavour , good size portion and an all round lovely dish. I’d recommend this any day if the well. The presentation was also very good. The 3 cheese macaroni was incredibly disappointing. It’s was one layer in a small bowl, three forkfuls and it was almost finished, there . The taste was okay though. It certainly needs improving . And I hope they do improve this very simple dish. The service was incredible , they dealt with it promptly , they were very respectful and understanding. They Refunded the cost and we decided to order another mushroom chilli. So for us it would have been 5/5 but the macaroni let it down. But as I am writing this , the atmosphere is great with good music in the background so it goes back up to 5 . I think on reading this they may improve the macaroni cheese .

Great pub, in the true style of a London pub. Can get very busy, especially after work. Some great ales and lovely pub grub served here. Very enjoyable.

Visited here for some post-work beers. Great pub with a great atmosphere and decent sized beer garden. It has a nice, cozy 'local' feel despite being in the city.

Came in on good Friday 2023 for lunch but staff were streched thin, run ragged and visibly stressed to the point they stopped taking orders. We left and ate around the corner instead. Greene King should take note to help their pubs plan ahead.

What a great pub. Very traditional- cosy, relaxed and we were made to feel very welcome. Some of the best pub food. A great selection of choices with vegetarian and vegan options. Excellent value for money a real gem in the heart of Westminster. Highly recommend the vegan cheese bake, steak and ale pie and sticky toffee pudding!

Popped in for dinner in a British pub. Had the Banger and Mash with a side of chips. The food was really good, the atmosphere was warm and comfortable, and the staff was really kind, welcoming, and attentive. I would recommend stopping in.

We booked a table on a Thursday in December not really knowing what to expect and, although quieter than expected, the vibe in the pub was great. There was a few different groups who looked like they were on office Christmas parties with plenty of Christmas jumpers being worn. The team were really welcoming and offered table service to our group. The music was really fun and our group ended up having a sing/dance off with another group 😂. Never visited before and will definitely be returning.

'Tis now my favorite pub in London. Came back twice for Steak & Ale Pie. I will crave this daily as well as the Sticky Toffee Pudding. We stumbled upon this gem after looking for Buckingham Palace. We happened to be in the same neighborhood the next day, hungry, and couldn't think of anything better than returning since we had to come home where this place does not exist! Ryan was also very charming. I shall return one day!
