Came here earlier today, the food was 10/10 and the hospitality was on point, manager was extremely friendly checking in regularly along with the other staff, we’ll definitely be back! Thank you 😊

Not being a massive Indian foodie I opted for a meal from The Grill, I had Garlic King Prawns and wow they were awesome, husband also had a meal from The Grill, he had the lamb chops, which just melted in your mouth, Bob the owner is very friendly and made us feel very welcome, will definitely visit again

Absolutely amazing must visit, authentic Indian food. Ambience is absolutely nice and best thing have free parking.

So me and my partner walk in and get greeted by the waiter who looked out of it. He came to the table and asked if we wanted to order three times after we had already ordered. Diet Coke and Coke £3 a go for a can the Diet Coke came flat and warm. We asked for buffet as it stated on their fb page 6-9 Wednesdays 18.95 per person he said not today and then the table next to us asked for it and they said yes. It was the main reason we booked here for a valentines meal. The samosas were under cooked onion Bajhis were burnt and no flavour at all. Naan bread had barely any bread was just pure crisp. Really bland food. Got the bill couldn’t read any of the writing no prices on nothing was charged £55 for god knows what. Disappointed ruined a valentines night out rare night out without the kids. Such a shame. Weird music kept cutting in and out through the meal was strange vibe. owner seemed nice though.

My husband and I went on a Sunday night for the buffet at £18.95 each. When we first entered we didn't get a proper welcome, it felt like the staff didn't care. We were shown to our table, plenty of space and enough privacy to feel intimate. Food was average but nothing special. I had a seat looking at the kitchen and I am pretty sure I saw our rice come out of the microwave. We didn't have to wait long for our food considering there was only 2 other groups dining. Overall, overpriced for what it is and would expect a better experience for the price we paid. However, we had plenty to eat and enjoyed various dishes. Strongly recommend doing the buffet as you get better value for money.

Bit slow but it was busy so only gave 3 stars.

Worst customer service in Colchester I call them to be able to reserve for shisha they tell me no very disrespectfully and close on my face

Fantastic restaurant , large open seating, you're not sitting 2ft from the next table, clean and tidy inside. They do a buffet that is a set menu each as much as you like. The last time was £18.95 but it has been cheaper. I have eaten a lot of Indian food over the years, and I really rate this place. It's in my top 3 Indian restaurants. Bob and his team make all the effort to make you feel welcome and never rushed. I would give Sunday buffet a go and see how you enjoy the food. "It's banging"

Over hour late and got told printer not working asked for money back and got nothing as I said didn’t want food - not reimbursed

Poor observation from staff, they had an event so should have employed more staff to cater for other diners. We asked for condiments in 3 occasions and were given bottles instead of condiment bowls. The food was bland, whole chicken was over £30 but the size of the pieces were very small. Would I go there again, definitely not. Should have saved my money for nandos

Great food, recommended to everyone I know and they all said the same. Awesome tasting food at good prices I highly recommend to everyone.

The food here was superb but the actual service let us down considerably. Seemed to have lots of staff but took almost half hour to order! Also the tables were back to back with each other and consequently we had a very loud group behind us so we couldn't hear the singer.

Not at all spicy and briyani is like just fried rice

Never expected it would be this disappointed. Not as excited as the name of the dishes. There isn't any difference between the taste of dishes. Not suitable for the people who literally crave spicy taste.

Food was below average. Tried alot of varieties starters were below average. Curries and biryani don't even bother to try. Except appadam nothing was good tbh.

Excellent food! A naan bread was missing from the order, but they sent one out straight away with a complimentary beer. Great customer service!

I had a lovely veg madras with pilau rice and bombay alloo and four poppodoms. The order arrived quickly and the food was hot. The delivery driver smiled and said they'd added a few extras for free. I definitely recommend this place.

Once upon a time food was nice and actually turned up on time in comparison to other indian & chinese takeaways around Colchester. The standard british fat man/women would approve, fo real! Would've got 5* but it wasn't a mouthgasm. The end.

Bought the food via Colchester Eats, when the food had arrived the chicken burger came with a slice of cheese in which it didn't state it would have on the menu and the person that wanted that burger has lactose intolerance, all other chicken dishes had dry and chewy chicken and so we had binned it all after tasting. Called the restaurant in which they just said "boss not in can't do anything, call tomorrow" and kept doing that until I couldn't bother at all (4 days), did the same via Colchester Eats until 1 week after when I got told "we asked if you wanted a replacement (they didn't) and we can only provide you a voucher for money off. Completely horrible won't get food from here again.

Absolutely the worst and most disgraceful food I have tried in my life. The food was bland, under cooked and not fresh. We went with our friends and ordered 2 mix platters for £45 each. Not only the food took very long to come (we were the only ones in the shop at the time but ok), there was no spice and was very dry and even the chicken was undercooked. I am not sure how this restaurant has a lot of good reviews. Maybe they haven't tasted good food before. But this was the worst food we tried in our lives. We did convey the message to the owners/chef and as expected they argued it was "fresh". Don't be fooled by the 4* reviews. That's why went there. But was utterly DISAPPOINTED!

A very disappointing experience. We went there looking at the review and thinking for a 4.5 star review, the food must be amazing, however not only the food took ages. The food was awful, we ordered 2 platters and the ribs were cold and rubber like. Chicken don't taste good at all. We went there hungry and it was very saddening to leave there unhappy and unsatisfied and still hungry and sick from the food we did eat. We gave the owner/chef our hi est review, hoping they would improve.

Most bland food we ever had. The ribs and wings was undercooked. We went there because of the high reviews but after having the food I dont know how they got such a review. Giving the one star only because the staff was very pleasant and attentive.

I don't how others can like this place? It's the most disgusting bland food I have ever tasted. No tandoor is used. The nann was raw and flat. Curry no better than chip shop curry sauce with a few herbs in. Bombay potato over cooked mush. Weirdest looking lime pickle I ever saw? I hate to give bad reviews . Maybe they have changed hands ? This tastes like English cooks trying to cook Indian food and failing miserably. I hate to do this but we are so disappointed.

Just had the most amazing takeaway from Colchester Spice. Don't know how you do it,but every time we eat there the food is always superb and today's takeaway was no exception. Absolutely faultless, thankyou very much.

Had dinner here on mother's day. They were short staffed but attentive and friendly. We ordered chicken tika starters which were delicious. Our currys and side dishes were ok but not the best we've had. Would go again but think their tandoori and tika dishes are the ones to go for.

I found the food to be very nice and tasty. I am vegetarian and this place has many options for vegetarians. Staff are friendly and polite. They obliged my request and made my orders extra spicy as per my request. Great service.

Since The Ashiana changed hands, and in our opinion went down hill, our family have spent the past couple of years in a curry wilderness, searching fruitlessly for a replacement. Last night's meal at Colchester Spice was superb, tender succulent lamb, great Dahl, excellent service in a warm & friendly environment. Definitely going to be our regular from now on.

An absolute masterclass crossover of alishan/ashiana curry house to perfection. These guys know what they're doing. Superb food and customer service. Colchester's new number 1. Don't go anywhere else!

Food was lovely as always is.... however won't be ordering again as delivery driver advised us that we could of ordered from elsewhere as the 30 min drive was inconvenient to them. Shame as food is beautiful.

Never ordering from here again. Failed to deliver complete order - when we complained they said they'd deliver remainder of order, which then never arrived. When we complained a second time they accused us of lying, and stated they'd delivered the food. I have no idea who they delivered it to, if they even bothered to, but it wasn't us. The food may have been mostly okay, but the service appalling and frankly rude.

Failed to deliver complete order. Phoned restaurant, they said they would deliver missing item. An hour later, nothing. Went through the chat, and they basically accused us of lying, saying delivery was made. Never going back to this takeaway.

First time dining here tonight, food was delicious, portions more than adequate and service 5* Mons the lovely waiter couldn’t do enough to welcome us, so friendly and kind. Top man 🤩 We will Definitely be back!

Spacious, open venue with very hospitable staff. Menu was very broad with your regular Indian Menu on one side and the speciality Grill section on the opposite side. The Rickshaw was an added bonus to compliment the decor, and youngest daughter enjoyed taking some pictures. We were a group of 14, and the overall order was very mixed. Food arrived together and in good time, while the portions were very reasonable. Everyone enjoyed their meal and overall quite pleased to have experienced it. One small recommendation for the management or chefs would be to use slightly less Naga sauce for spicing up the dishes. My Peri Peri which was supposed to be Madras strength was very much a vindaloo or more🥵. Besides the spicing all in a good evening out, would recommend others to try. Personally will visit again.

Ordered for delivery, wasn't quite as expected (rice noodle). They sent wide noodles and expected thin ones. Called and was just advised this was a rice noodle and not sorted.

Awful we didn't eat any of the food we ordered with user eats the order was about 45 mins late and was luke warm and soggy, I would like a refund

Best steak ever i had last week.

The food turned up an hour and 15 minutes late. Then when we opened it all up we found that it was swimming in oil. The food wasn’t fresh at all. The onion bhajis were like mush. And my bhuna was disgusting and looked nothing like a bhuna. Will not be ordering from them again.

This is the best curry takeaway in Colchester FACT! Full or flavour and the currys have a very generous portion of meat. I cant speak highly enough of this great restaurant/takeaway!

Haven't tried the curry yet but my 15 ounce T bone steak was really good you may find cheaper meals out there but you get what you pay for with steak 40 quid each for 2 massive really nice meals and good service

Terrible experience. The menus were dirty and the food was not good at all. The burgers was so hard as if mixed with loads of flour. I will never be back.

Went there second time. This time disappointed. Ordered beef burger. Patty was to hard from the edges, however sides were ok. Too pricey for the quality of food you get.
