Coffiology in Newport

Superb pancakes today! We went in to enjoy a hot drink on a wet day and were seduced by the pancake menu. Absolutely delicious.

We went to coffiology today to use some vouchers for a Christmas gift and were disappointed. We googled the closing time - 4pm. We arrived at 2:45pm to be told they’d stopped serving food. So we just had a sausage roll & coffee (which I will admit was really nice hence not giving 1 star). Wanted cake after but they’d put them all away at 3:10. No changing table for a baby, I found this shocking! I had to change my 4 week old daughter on the cold bathroom floor. Then the staff started shutting down the coffee shop while I was breastfeeding at 3:30, and even turned the music off so we felt we had to leave. I won’t be returning.

Outstanding, friendly service in an inviting atmosphere. Coffee was exceptional, and the three cheese grilled cheese was perfection.

Best cappuccino I've had in a very long time. Place was clean and cute and comfortable. Staff was very nice.

This a lovely, cozy coffee haunt that has a warm welcoming feel to it. I have eaten many bacon sandwiches over the years, but not like this. The bacon sandwich here is the very best I have ever had. I'm certain they sprinkle some magic fairy dust over them.

Called in for a quick lunch. Was packed and we could see why. Great coffee, great food. Even though we were warned of possible wait as it was busy, service was first class and fast. So glad we found this place…….

Everything was top class. Banging bacon butties, delicious smoothie bowls,gorgeous coffee. Staff could not be friendlier. Will definitely return on our next visit . Highly recommend a visit for coffee, breakfast, lunch or Prosecco..

We were looking for a cafe to grab a brew and some cake before exploring the area and we are SO GLAD we chose this cafe. As a group of 7, there was only just room and the staff kindly and politely asked a couple to swap tables so we could all sit together. The service was fab, the coffee and drinks were amazing and the cakes and sweet things ... all exceptionally yummy! If we hadn't been so full we would have stayed for lunch as the food looked great too. Thanks so much and definitely recommended.

I enjoyed the coffee; I looked for a nice filter coffee but it didn’t seem they had any at the time. I am Californian so I think my expectations about what a coffee shop should have are different from folks in the UK. Food was meh, a bit dried out. Thought I might have seen a bit of mold - it is what happens when fresh food hangs out in a humid environment for a little too long. Seems they need to sort out how much they make everyday, as there was a lot of food for sale, and it was mid afternoon on a Friday. I had enjoyable company so none of these things bothered me too much, but I’ll likely search something else out next time I am in town.

I was told emphatically that they do not accept "cash customers" only cards. When I protested I was told it was management policy and that there are no exceptions. Later i was approached by someone in management who claimed it was a flexible policy.. and if a customer only had cash or was homeless etc...that cash was fine. But I said this is not what the lady at the till said. Cash is legal tender. Any business should have very very serious reasons for refusing cash customers especially on the high street.... thats not my brief...thats the legal opinion. This manager said it was for "security reasons". ..suggesting theft by either staff or customer. But there has been no rash of robberies in Caerleon to warrant this. Yet card scamming is nearly always at the loss of the customers and increases year on year by 25%. As for the staff.. is the manager seriously telling staff that they cannot be trusted enough to handle cash? Another impromptu reason is the pandemic which set a bad precedent for refusing cash customers. It no longer sticks aside for the fact that cash never caused the spread of covid anyway. absolutely no evidence of it! Finally a review on the product. ITs not the best coffee in Caerleon in my opinion and not the worse. But its easily the most expensive. The ambience is there and they have some good products brought from outside the premises. Its not a good look when management are arguing with a customer claiming cash makes them nervous over security. I agree its good to defend the business. But management here are simply wrong- even though its becoming more common to refuse cash customers. I hope coffiology review their ban on cash customers- because Caerleon needs a dedicated coffee place and it has some things going for it if it lowers the prices a litttle.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon and the ambience, staff and the coffee was very nice but oh so expensive ! at £3.70 for a cappuccino, its the most expensive coffee I have had in the UK apart from Bristol Airport which I think was about the same price. Also had a 2 croissants which worked out at about £3.30 each !!! For a croissant ! (In Paris i paid 1.5 euros). I know there is inflation but most other comparable cafes like Coffee#1 and Coffeelab are charging £3.15 atm for a cappuccino or latte. Sorry but probably won't be going again....

This was the 2nd time I had been to a private evening function at Coffiology and it was as good as the first. I arranged my wife’s surprise 40th, the food was amazing and plentiful and the staff could not do enough! If this is the quality and service that you get during the day, then they are doing it right! Just wish I lived closer to stop for a coffee and food. Thanks for making it a great night.

Absolutely lovely cafe. Food was gorgeous and thankfully a great choice of gluten free. Totally lovely blueberry smoothie and the staff are just brilliant- so friendly and polite. Definitely recommend and will be back.

Excellent cafe in the town centre. Great range of sandwiches. The Brie and bacon toasted sandwich was superb as was the carrot cake. Friendly staff and very clean. Would recommend.

Relaxed evening was had by all, great staff, amazing sharing platters with plenty of fresh choices, good selection of drinks and fairly priced, really enjoyed the evening and will visit again.
