Ony one lady serving so small queue took ages to get through as she was serving and making coffee. The guy clearing the tables had a terrible skin condition - not his fault - but not a great view when he clears your table and you get an arm with open sores reaching over your table and his trousers were ripped with a dirty patch on the bum. Really bad hygiene image even if they were clean 🤢. Coffee was average, but was probably but fed up by this time. Definately won't go back.

Coffee # 1 is usually my favourite coffee chain, but this visit was a big disappointment. The poor guy was on his own, so there was a long queue. I had gone there specifically because they usually offer toast, but toast was apparently off (hint: the Spar across the road sells bread , it may not be your usual bloomer, but better than nothing!) The customer in front of me wanted an iced drink, but apparently the ice machine is out of order. Another wanted ‘skinny’ milk, but that too was unavailable. When I finally got my drink, next challenge was to find somewhere to sit. Of course, being on his own, the barista was unable to clear tables. I cleared my own, but considering the price of the coffee, I really shouldn’t have to clear away other people’s dirty crockery.

We called in for a coffee and something to eat. The service was very slow and the panini’s not very tasty. We have visited in the past but it is not quite as good as it used to be.

We've had a few coffees here and everytime there's a huge queue which is good because its shows its busy and a nice place to go. However, this queue could be easily alleviated by having more than one member of staff. Fair play to the lad that works there as he single handedly takes money, makes coffee and serves food. I've occasionally seen people out the back, but this lad works relentlessly. I understand money is tight at the moment, but this places is wildly understaffed.

Having debunked doggy land the previous day due to a bad experience, we were walking past #1 and thought, let's grab a coffee. I've always enjoyed Coffee #1 and after the canine experience elsewhere, we both thought that it was a good shout. Well would you believe it! Yap, bark, yap, Yap Yap, growl, bark. Another £11 down the drain and a miserable experience in another coffee shop that allows dogs, their smell and the irritating noise when you're trying to relax and unwind. I've given it a 3 as the manager and the staff are lovely, but why can't customers get a peaceful cuppa in our town centre any more?

Walked in late yesterday afternoon (29/11) and ordered a dark mokka. Signs on the door warning that due to staff shortage, all drinks served in take away cups. The mokka was lush and the fact it was served in take away cup didn’t detract from the taste. Two female staff were fab and a credit to the company despite what must’ve been a challenging day. I was really pleased to find Coffee Number 1 in Aberystwyth. It is so nice to find friendly staff who love their coffee and can talk about it with enthusiasm and knowledge. Exceptional in all respects; coffee, staff and atmosphere :-)

Nice atmosphere and great selection of food and drink but staff really let it down. Queue to the door as they only had 1 person doing everything. Staff are disinterested at best and rude at worst. The price of the prepackaged snacks had dropped into the basket they were in. After putting my hand in to retrieve it to determine the price I was scored by the girl on the till and told they'd have to discard all these items. I'd normally understand if they were unwrapped items but they were prepackaged items - a shop wouldn't have an issue if you put a wrapped item back so I don't get what the staff members issue was. Everyone has bad days but the attitude of this member stunk and I felt guilted into purchasing the item. The member of staff more or less threw my coffee at me after making it with no please or thank you. A huge disappointment as this coffee shop was one of the best in Aber but staff attitude had seriously declined although given they always seem to be short staffed I am a little understanding.

Dog friendly with plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Great coffee and a small selection of gluten-free cakes. Could do with another toilet as often a queue

I was served whole milk when I asked for a milk alternative as I am severely lactose intolerant. Four times I have visited this cafe and on all four occasions I have been served whole milk when I have asked for a milk alternative. Not only does this cafe not observe allergens, a member of staff actually ran after my friend and I to shout at us crossing the street for using the wrong door to exit. I cannot believe a chain cafe could be so consistently negligent around allergens and have such rude and poorly trained staff.

The cafe has a great position in town and is usually pleasant to visit, however the lack of care from staff lets the cafe down greatly. The staff are unfriendly, rude and abrupt, and when in a customer service role, it is simply unacceptable. Regardless of how busy (or their lack of during my most recent visit) it’s the staffs’ job to appear upbeat and friendly, however on each of my most recent visits over the last 3 months they have not, and there appears to be a "cannot be bothered" attitude towards their job role and customers. On top of a bad attitude from staff, during my most recent visit on the 13th of November a member of staff was unnecessarily rude, and her poor manner and public outburst did not reflect well on her or the café. The member of staff highlighted yelled at me and my friend upon leaving through the wrong door (unknowingly). When we left through the door, the member of staff yelled at us and continued to shout at us in the street and slamming the door behind us in front of other customers and passers-by. The pedestrians outside commented on her rude behaviour towards customers was and how it reflected extremely poorly on the café. Rude and unmotivated staff is the impression I have taken from the establishment over the last 3 months, and I would expect more from a well established café.

Only scored a 1 as I can't score a 0. 15+ min wait for a takeaway coffee when only 2 customers in front. Then after all that given wrong order. Staff tried to bodge it..awful coffee and service. Wouldnt return. A shame when trying to support independents rather than large corporations.

When at university in Aberystwyth I would enjoy this coffee shop stop as a treat. Working in Aberystwyth so had to return. But so disappointed. Waited 25 minutes and only four coffees to be made before mine. Not the place to go if you want a quick take away. Cakes use to be amazing. Now very dry and my coffee wasn’t even that warm. Upstairs is still very pleasant and great to catch up on emails. But think they need to get the hoover out and have a good clean

Despite being run of their feet the service was speedy and very friendly and the food very tasty. Would definitely go again.

We went fir morning coffee, ordering 2 skinny cappuccinos, a hot chocolate, croissant and a slice of Victoria sponge. The staff were good, the coffee neither frothy or particularly tasty and the sponge pretty dense. All fairly standard.

Been in twice in 2 days but could not get a table as many students doing work and loan people taking up whole tables and very few of them with drinks on the table. Left both times did not have a drink. Staff should limit times people can hog a table for.

We come to Aberystwyth quite frequently. We always use coffee #1 where ever we find one because we like the coffee and the buildings are usually pleasant to be in. As far as all that goes Aberystwyth is no exception. Visiting the Aberystwyth branch this time though we were surprised that they had closed the upstairs seating which seemed to go against social distancing by cramming everybody in downstairs. Also all the staff were very good (as we’ve always found them to be in coffee #1), apart from the notable exception of the bloke with the ponytail, who’s attitude is terrible and comes across as rude - I wasn’t the only one to think it

This coffee house has been open for just over five years; sadly, it has deteriorated in that time. Many of the chairs in the upstairs section have collapsed and are now very uncomfortable, and tables are left uncleared and uncleaned for long periods of time. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, but cleanliness needs to be improved.

I don’t usually like chain coffee shops, but this one has character. This place used to be the Cental Hotel pub in Aberystwyth, and I remember having a good old Welsh sing along here with my fellow students back in the 1990s.Today, it is a very busy coffee shop, but they offer good fast service. I find this a great place to meet friends for a catch up or an informal meeting. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the space is open with a warm friendly atmosphere. It has seating upstairs as well as down so never feels cramped. The food is good too and the drinks are yummy.

Lovely coffee and cheesecake after a promenade walk, the place is on 2 floors seemed to be a bit noisy upstairs people having a laugh,noise traveling around the building, didn't stop us from enjoying our visit though.

I call in here for coffee and cake at a ridiculously late hour - just before 5 pm. There is a large range of eats and drinks available. My cappuccino is fine and my banoffee tart very tasty. I place my order and wait at the counter: there is no table service. However I am pleased to find a coffee shop still open at this late hour.

We went here to have a coffee, it’s your typical coffeeplace where you order at the bar, drinks you get immediately and they bring you the food to the table.

Staying at nearby Premier Inn we bought breakfast here every day, lovely coffee, and the filled croissants were delicious! As were the pastries, reasonable prices for excellent food and service, the staff are very friendly and helpful, it was nice to see how popular it was with local people, every morning there were people sitting enjoying their food and lots getting takeaways, it’s not over smart, but very comfortable, welsh spoken by many customers but English spoken by staff. Much better value than Premier Inn!

I’m not quick to make assumptions, but I walked in on my own yesterday and was absolutely starving. There was only two food options on the counter boards; when I asked a member of staff behind the bar he said there was no other food options. However, everyone else sounds like they had great experience and could actually grab food! Coffee was great but I had to go and have breakfast elsewhere, which is a shame. I’m not sure whether the barista lied to me, however for what reason I’m struggling to understand. Unless they have just two breakfast options everyday!

Was on the way to the train station (stayed at premier inn) And stopped to get some breakfast. Opted for the pancakes and blueberries. Very good. I'm sure they are pre made but taste yummy. And a glass of orange juice. Will be back.

A very popular local coffee house with some oldy-worldy and quirky furniture. The coffee beats some of the big brands and the choice of snacks is excellent too. Plenty of space with the upstairs but still can be nearly full at times.

Popped in yesterday as we needed a drink and a bite to eat. Very impressed with the place. Lovely building, really good food and drink and most importantly superb staff who, today, at least were going non-stop to serve the dozens of customers they had. Clearly a very popular location. Called in by chance when waiting for a train in Aberystwyth in December. Really well decorated. Staff were really friendly, coffee and cakes were wonderful. Have visited this place a few times over last year or so when in Aber visiting daughter in Uni and keep meaning to review.

We hade breakfast here and it was great. I can recomend the porridge and the granola. A lot of different options and lots of places to sit.

This is a pleasant place for coffee. As well as downstairs seating there is ample room upstairs and a pleasant vibe for reading or work. Has the usual fare of the chain and very pleasant staff.

Great coffee place which used to be a pub. Have been twice now and both times spent ages chatting with other customers. dog friendly which always paves the way for conversation imho, good coffee and nice selection of cakes if you are feeling indulgent. Very nice indeed and centrally placed in the town.

Been here a few times as well as the good choice of coffee's that they sell you can always be sure that their cake selection is also attractive too though a little pricey compared to other similar coffee shops in the town.

Stopped for a bite to eat while passing though. Hubby had flat wrap and I had the mixed bean spiced side. Absolutely lovely, wish I had the recipe.

Stopped here for coffee with a friend whilst visiting, I wish I had stayed for cake as well delightful setting: the ambience just adds to the character of the place! The staff were very welcoming! Recommended, will be popping by when I'm next about!

We queued for ages for our order to be taken what I wanted originally had sold out by the time we got our order in. The food was ok nothing special the Coffee was very nice the waitress came to clear our table took the dishes came back wiped the table onto the floor which had a bit of lettuce and a sugar sachet and crumbs. She did not come back and sweep the floor of the debris whilst we were there. We were not far from the opening to the counter we could see debris on the floor by the bin. My husband said we won’t be eating here again I think they need a bit more organising

Popped in for a quick coffee and lunch. I love the coffee here as it's dark and tasty. Had a flatbread and cake. A small queue but got through quickly and food was also delivered quickly. Best part was that it's dog friendly so our two Huskies could be with us.

Went here for breakfast. Had Granola & Yoghurt and Choc Chip pancakes with excellent coffee - finished off with Carrot & Walnut cake, Lemon drizzle cake and chocolate & caramel shortbread

Went here for the first time today, was amazed by the customer service we was given, dogs are allowed up stairs, so we brought our pup in. I usually get quite anxious when ordering anywhere, The lady behind the till made me feel very comfortable and was very friendly!

It is a good place, but so popular we had to queue for along time and wait even longer for our food. The food was ok a little pricey the coffee and juices were great....double Expresso and a Even a turmeric latte.

A lovely place with a great selection of coffees, smoothies, juices and food. You order at the counter but the service is very fast. Staff are good and welcoming.

Enjoyed a dirty Chai drink and gf coffee caje with a friend for after work relaxation. There is usually a wait as drinks are made to order and the venue is popular with locals and tourists. It has an eclectic choice of seating arrangements and free WiFi and toilet facilities to suit all needs. Better than the usual chains in my opinion.
