Coffee#1 in Cardiff

One of the best places for a great coffee, always very decent, and value for money is definately continuous in terms of coffee. Shame that the desserts are average and over priced. Pastries are just average and tmuch more pricey than greggs or even Tesco. Bought a slice of biscoff cheesecake that was very flavourless, very small in portion and very expensive for the size and quality. For £3.50 and a tiny slice, I calculated that from the size they could make up to £30 per whole cheesescake thats costs £6 to make. Also it tasted frozen and isnt made fresh daily. Very dissapinted I have changed coffee places to a nearby cafe that sells the best pastries and same quality coffee. I cant invest in a company who rips people off no matter how good the coffee is, or how loyal I was. Companies are getting away with it all the time because people are just too nice and let owners bank accounts stay over full when theres people in poverty. Put the prices down or put the quantity of desserts up to retain my service. Im a home baker and should have stayed with coffee only. Not happy I was ripped off thinking it was gonna be the most amazing cheesecake ive ever tasted, that tasted like it was defrosted at some point. Stick to coffee if you are going to go here.

I always enjoy going to Coffee One and have tried lots of branches. This one had a nice ambience inside and was quite spacious, it was on a busy road so not as good for sitting in the window people watching as some others. We had tea cakes and would highly recommend them,

When people know the details of he tea and coffee they are offering you can feel far more confident that the quality will be good and the experience worthwhile. In addition the service and the personal touch helped get the day on a good path! Thank you.

I met up with visiting family members here as it’s very close to the train station. When I saw that they did a white hot chocolate, I knew I had to go for it. I went for the deluxe which included marshmallows, cream and chocolate shavings. At £3 I thought it sounded a bit more expensive than average but looking around at other coffee shops, it seems pretty standard. The chocolate shavings were amazing, white chocolate is the best chocolate, and the rest of it was also very nice.

I wanted to have something light and healthy for lunch and popped in Coffee #1. I chose a corn soup and a delicious smootie made of kale, spinach, mango and apple juice. They had a wide selection of different smoothies and juices not just coffee and tea.The service was friendly and the staff was helpful. There were lovely big armschairs by the large windows. The only negative point was that the bathroom should have been cleaned.

Ganz klar ein zum Wohlfühlen und Verweilen, mit sehr gutem Kaffe und kleine Leckereien. Nicht einfach in einem Land wo es keine Kaffekultur gibt, hier wohl!

Just a short walk from Queen St, Station. Popular venue and clean. Excellent service and food is not too bad . Offers spent coffee for customers to use in garden compost. Rest rooms are clean and tidy

Great coffee and tasty snacks and rolls. Pork and onion sausage bap with tomato relish. Ciabatta flatbread with roasted medditeranean veg. Just what we needed!

This is my favourite coffee shop in Cardiff. I used to work near here & would go there regularly, sadly I now live very far away so only get to visit every 6 weeks. The service is always friendly and the coffee's always great. I really wish they'd open branches in North West England as I really miss proper Welsh cakes!!

It has a nice feel to it and the service is always friendly if a little slower than elsewhere although the latte is miles better than its competitors and decent value too

Great place, friendly staff. Plenty option on coffees, drinks, snacks. Every time we are in Cardiff it's our favourite place for breakfast.

Excellent coffee house with very friendly staff, good range of coffee and teas as well as pastries. The Portuguese tarts are delicious although they've recently stopped doing the fruit ones. The only fly in the pastry ointment are the granola bars which are large and far too sweet for my taste. Very different from others in the High Street. Good buy are the tea cakes, a good substitute for school light lunch. Only issue is that you are restricted to strawberry jam or marmalade, when a better variety would be the icing on the cake. Well worth a visit!!!

Stopped going to Coffee #1 at the end of Queen Street after many years as the service is so slow, the toaster takes ages to work (not good when you are in a rush in the morning) and one of the women Baristas has a permanent cough and coughs into her hands before making coffee and serving food. A number of colleagues have also stopped going here because of this Barista. Went back today after a long time, hesitated at the door as the Barista that coughs was serving, however went in anyway ordered toast and before she started dealing with my order she coughed into her hands again. Sadly won't return which is a shame as other Baristas are very friendly.

I'd never been to Coffee #1 before but recently started working near the one next to Queen Street station. I drink flat white and it's probably the best I've had in Cardiff. The best thing about this place is it's always consistent. The coffee is always as good as the last, and it's always at the perfect temperature. There's nothing worse than buying a coffee on the go that's too hot to drink for 5/10 minutes. The coffee in this place is good to drink straight away, but also hot enough to stay warm for a while. Well done bois bach

Nice customer service, tasty smoothies. I had a raspberry and beetroot smoothie and chilled by the windows watching the world go by. Nice half hour cool down :)

Best coffee I've tasted!! The food is lovely also! (Toast and jam or the welshcakes) are the best!

Love this place! Often visit to take a break from shopping or to sit quietly with a book or to write a letter. Service always friendly and often coffee brought to table even though it is designed for collect your own. Coffee tasty and provides a good range of panninis and cakes.

We visit this coffee house most weekends and hghly recommend it. I particularly recommend their drip coffee but the flat white's are also good. The staff are very friendly and obliging . They do delicious porridge and toast !!

I've had coffee in most Coffee 1 shops in Cardiff and in my opinion this is the best. Coffe is strong enough without having an extra shot. The atmosphere is nice, staff friendly and efficient . If I wanted a weak, milky coffee I would ask for a latte. Also the toilets are clean ! Well done to you. ☕️

I don't want to rant about this coffee house because I really like their coffee and their doorstop toast is amazing. But when people ask for a black Americano, they really need to listen. Too often do I ask for a black Americano and they still ask me if I want milk, and after I say no, they still put milk in my coffee. I'd left the premises when I found out they put milk in my coffee. I'm really cheesed off about this, and that's only because I know I'm gonna go back there for more coffee and toast and it's likely to happen again.

Always try and grab a cup of hot chocolate here when I can and if I have a little more time than usual I'll sit in - although getting a seat can sometimes be a challenge! It's comfortable, clean toilets for patrons and you are never rushed to vacate. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited queen St coffee#1 with a colleague today after the world half marathon. The lady brought our drinks over and cleared up from the previous occupants. Fab service again :-)

Had never heard of this chain before and chose it because it was close to the train station. Lovely decor and liked the different range of seating. Staff were very helpful and it was a refreshing change to have your purchases brought to your table. Tea was proper tea! Loose leaves in a pot. Fab extra touches like the free water in jugs. Also cheaper than competitors. Will chose this chain as opposed to other well known coffee houses. # happy

This cafe is very spacious and comfortable. The home blend is really good and service as well:) My fav morning hang out with books and coffee

Coffee #1 has the best coffee when compared with other major chains in town. The food choice is good too and service ask ways friendly.

We love Coffee 1 and this coffee house is becoming our firm favourite . The ambience is great and relaxing and cosy decor.

Visited recently whilst staying in Cardiff. Very welcoming staff. Had a ham and cheese croissant. Delicious. Also had a lovely cup of tea. Thanks.

The place has excellent decor and atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the coffee is excellent. Much better than other coffee chains

Coffee#1 has deservedly garnered best independent chain awards, but here is my favourite shop. Spacious and light (near the big windows), with real friendly and attentive staff. A great place to meet, relax, read, reflect and ponder life and the world in general. Terrific coffee with a good range of snacks.

This is my 3rd visit to Coffee #1 on Queen Street and usually staff are cutious and helpful. Today it was dreadful on first entry we couldn't get a seat with a wheelchair and staff didn't seem to care, simply saying we are busy. Now I understand they can't help this so no problem. So we came back and it was quieter and I spotted a sign on the corner about allergens and it told me to ask if advice was needed. My little boy is dairy free and I asked the barista if he could tell me which cakes or biscuits were dairy free, he clearly didn't want to know and simply fobbed me off with, "I'm not sure." I then asked him if anything was dairy free he replied the same. I then reminded him about the notice. He then told me I hadn't asked him. I asked if there was a problem with what I asked he told me no and when I told him it was pointless to have a sign about allergies HE ASKED ME TO LEAVE!!!! This was very upsetting and ruined my view of this growing chain such a shame.

Always visit here when I'm back in Cardiff. Much nicer coffee than in other places. Staff are always friendly and efficient.

After the most amazing first trip to New Zealand, we stopped at #1 Queen for breakfast before our pickup to the airport on April 9th.

I love this coffee shop. An awesome find. Just what I was after. Warm, cozy, good tea and coffee, gorgeous pastries and really friendly service. The only issue is the 300 or so mile commute from home :-). Can't recommend highly enough.

We called at Coffee 1 twice and spent a pleasant 1/2 hour there. Staff were helpful and courteous - always smiling. There was a large display of fresh cakes and pastries and the coffee was smooth and piping hot

Of the ubiquitous coffee houses, coffee#1 stands out.

I like trying different places and even though starbucks has the best frappes,i like to mix it up once and a while. It was a pleasant experience,nice chairs and decore but the frappes was average! More cream than cold coffee. I recommend it from a place from the norm but not a regular place!

Not to be mistaken with other Coffee #1 outlets in Cardiff, as this one is on the corner of Newport Road and Queen's street. It has some lovely chairs, and lovely staff, and probably the best cakes ever. They also make great coffee BUT the tap water was awful, and the continuous sound of the Fire Alarm Panel was one of the worse experiences of my coffee shop life. I know things can actuate, but for goodness-sake spend the money and get the system fixed and the sound isolated. It was previously Coffee Number 1 for me, but now it has moved to Number 2
