As cafe mocha drinkers, we can confirm that CUP's mochas are the best in Reading. We come in whenever we're in town; the cafe always has friendly and welcoming staff. They sell hot and cold drinks, and pastries with a particularly Greek theme. They also sell bags of ground coffee and loose-leaf tea to take home. In normal times they also do a range of excellent breakfast and open sandwiches for those who are hungrier.

We both got a Iced Caramel Latte, personally too sweet for us but I’d definitely return as they were very welcoming & I think we’d enjoy the more bitter coffee they have to offer.

El café negro era fuerte, ¡mi preferencia! - Y la torta de mantequilla de maní era encantadora.Anteriormente había estado en su cafetería de la calle Blagrave, pero también disfruté de la ubicación de Mary´s Butts. Lo recomiendo a fondo!

Bitter coffee. Food was ok but the pancakes were a bit dry and old. Not bad but not great either ! A bit cold in the cafe too (visited December)

Myself and my friend got bored of the standard coffee chains, so we ventured slightly outside the oracle. We opted for the Mediterranean sandwich and a tea, both good quality. Friendly service. Not a huge amount of seating so if you visit during peak times expect to maybe wait. Will definitely visit again!

This place comes complete with stereotyped hispter using a macbook. Made me laugh, really. I'm not really a coffee drinker to I had tea. They have a reasonable range. The food is pretty good too. The service could do with being a little more friendly.

Greek coffee and cakes, me and my brother had flat whites and I had banana bread and he had spiced cake which were both delicious, the coffee was pretty good too!

Decidimos que queríamos un poco de café y queríamos algo que no fuera una cadena. CUP no me decepcionó. ¡Tenía un blanco plano que era encantador! También tuve un café con leche helado que era muy bueno. Mi amigo tenía una moca helada y pudo elegir el chocolate (oscuro / blanco / leche) que fue un buen toque. Tienes que pagar extra por las opciones sin descafeinado y sin lácteos, lo cual es algo que debes tener en cuenta. No probé ninguna comida, pero definitivamente volveré a probar el desayuno. ! ! Los pasteles parecían increíbles y si el café es algo para lo que pasar, estoy seguro de que será un éxito. Gran thunbz por encima de mí.

I had the flat white and my wife had an Ethiopian v60 filter. The flat white was creamy and velvety with great milk to coffee ratio. The filter was a dream. Round with medium acidity and pleasant aftertaste. These guys know their staff for sure.

Such a good little place. Good coffee, good people there. There are so many poor places for coffee in Reading. Great stuff, keep it up.

By far the best coffee in Reading! The owners are very friendly and the staff is polite! The spanakopita and custard cream pie are delicious and you have to try their coconut cake too!

I visited the coffee shop on a Saturday evening. The place was buzzing and the atmosphere was great. The baristi were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a Flat White and a V60 filter. The Flat White was silky with great latte art and the filter was very round with pleasant aftertaste. We also had the home made carrot cake and a Banana & chocolate bread. Both tasting great and fresh. Overall a very nice Experience. I ll visit again for sure.

One of the best coffee places in Reading. Had a nice hazelnut latte and a chocolate peanut butter shortbread. Simply the best. The breakfast and lunch menu looked great as well.

Lovely coffee, nice design and interior. Unfortunately it is just a little small so finding a table inside is often difficult, and it can be quite noisy (and a little cold by the door in winter). All around though it was a lovely independent coffee stop, and our usual place to go in Reading instead of all the coffee chains.

Next to church at town center, suggested by Reading Uni student, really offers relaxation, smiles, good soft music, best service, variety of snacks or pies, tea and coffee even 'spanakopitta' and Greek coffee among the other usual offerings in other cafes in town.

This is my favourite coffee shop in Reading. Very friendly staff, great atmosphere, pleasant background music and excellent coffee. There is only a small selection of cakes and snacks, but what they have is very good. Today I tried the custard parcel, which is served warm and dusted with cinnamon - lovely. The interior is a bit austere and the furniture not very comfortable, but nobody seems to mind; you could easily spend hours here. I like it best to sit outside with view of the beautiful church. The only drawback is that C.U.P. is quite small and fills up quickly. That is probably why they recently opened a second cafe, which is on Blagrave street and also very good.

Nice coffee and nice selection of greek bites. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the spinach and feta pie. The staff here are lovely. Very welcoming.

Fabulous coffee - the flat white is perfect. Cheese pie! Delicious. Friendly staff, not the usual high street coffee chain template misery. Hurrah! Just missed 5 stars as the location view is not perfect.

For an Aussie in England, finding great coffee can be a challenge at times - we are so spoilt in Australia :-) Having said that, this place was brilliant - great coffee, great atmosphere, cute location (overlooking a graveyard lol).

I visited this place for lunch today. I treated myself to a wonderful BALT sandwich ( bacon avocado lettuce tomato) which came served on a sourdough toasted bread and it was delicious! I also had a coffee, really nice and strong. This is mainly a Greek coffee but the food is to die for! Also the atmosphere is really relaxed and friendly, everyone is smiling and one of the best locations in town! Storgly reccommended! Thanks guys

We tried to see why this scores so highly. We tried and still don't know why this scores so highly. Tiny little place, uninspiring inside, almost wanted to leave at that point. Our coffees were at best poor.

We visited for the first time as a familiy yesterday morning as we like giving indie shops a go.

Always looked at this when in Reading & thought I will need to try this little coffee shop & today I finally did & I was not disappointed, the coffee was very nice & if you watch the Barista you can see the passion he has for making a perfect C.U.P of coffee.

I popped in on the way to work for breakfast. Flat white was excellent, which is what I'm rating. Pastry was an after-thought purchase, and it was pretty good overall. Can't complain. Service was good.

Tried this out for a quick bite at lunchtime. Slightly limited menu a few sandwiches and salads but had enough to tempt us. Feta and spinach pie looked good too but didn’t go with January diet! Friendly service and the sandwiches were good, toasted ciabatta and tasty dressing. May I suggest asking if the customer wants coffee straightaway or wait for the food? We had just about finished our drinks by the time the food arrived; would have been better at the same time. £12 for light lunch for 2 of us is decent value. I’d definitely go again.

You get tea in a 500ml jug, which is new, but absolutely amazing, if you drink a lot of tea, like me, while reading, for example and there are numerous options. You can go for a classic, like green tea with jasmine, which I'll say hands down, was one of the best I've ever had, or peruse a wide selection.

If you find Christmas shopping an onerous ordeal, a pit stop here for morning coffee will certainly lighten the experience. It was a bit tricky to find (tucked away near the big church just along from Bill's) but well worth the hunt. Although a Sunday, it was bustling and lively. Both our coffees, a flat white and an Americano (with warm milk on the side as requested) arrived quickly and were good. There was an interesting selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries on offer. I wasn't intending to eat anything but I couldn't resist a little gingerbread man and he was perfect. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We set off to continue shopping feeling a lot more cheerful!

Prices are okay, cheesecakes are delicious but small cafe and when crowded its too lousy, and no music inside.

Overlooking the church this is a really nice spot to grab a coffe and light lunch. An obvious favourite with locals the cafe has a comfortable easy feel to it and my cap was really rich and creamy, although the Croissant was a bit undercooked. Would come here again.

I have been visiting C.U.P. every once in a while as they serve one of best coffees in Reading, have a very good location and I like their interior design a lot (minimalistic and artisan I would call it). I have recently discovered that they also serve toasted sourdough bread sandwiches and tried the Mediterranean one. It was soooo delicious. Perfect for lunch. I came twice in a row and was never disappointed. I think I’ll be coming at least once every week especially as this place is so nice to hang out even on your own. Totally recommended!

Cup is one of the coziest most friendly and relaxed coffee places in Reading. With a great view (behind the St. Mary Minster) and it's lovely service it never disappoints. I've tried almost all their pastry (in love with Greek flavours) and they're great! They also do almond milk coffee which I can't find in most coffee shops in town and it's super nice!

I have been to CUP probably hundred times or so! The best coffee in town (Greek standards), pastries are awesome and food in general! Great vibe, great people running the business! No wonder it's so popular! Highly recommended! Fingers crossed that Reading will see more businesses like CUP!

Reading is by no means short of Coffee shops, all the larger coffee chains have numerous outlets dotted in and around the town, however, Reading does lack in good independent coffee shops and this is one of a few that cater for that market.

I have tried this place since day one. The coffee is very decent, though it has improved with time, i guess the barista has improved. But what is disappointing is that even though they call it "speciality coffee" there is nothing special about it. Though to be completely honest i am not a coffee expert and therefore cannot tell the exact difference (if any) between the coffee served in the other shops around town. And there are a few that i go that taste exactly the same. On the other hand though, i can tell whether i like the coffee or not. The bottom line is that if the other places around the center make the same taste then is nothing special to me and all the other regular customers who just enjoy a cup of coffee.

If you're after the best coffee in Reading, C.U.P certainly won't disappoint. I've had regular weekend coffees from this cafe and am always greeted by the friendly staff and am consistently given great tasting coffee. If you don't drink coffee, the hot chocolates made with real chocolate are also worth a taste.

Great coffee, cozy place. They offer two blends to choose from. Nassos (the Barista) is a star. Pastries and cakes are top quality. Service is excellent.

Tucked behind St Butts is a great place to enjoy a quiet coffee. Seating is limited but that is part of the charm, that together with the fact that is not a faceless coffee chain.

I really like the location, cosy and friendly atmosphere. Great coffee - especially the cold one - and very nice bites. I tried the bougatsa (custard pie) and that was very good indeed.

Me gusta mucho este sitio! Es pequeño y acogedor. Buen café y me encanta el pastel de plátano que, seriamente una tarta bien equilibrada, no demasiado dulce, no demasiado soso. Apreciar el arte latte Lo único es que he tenido una fantástica pantalla blanca aquí, pero cuando pedí una pantalla de soja blanca en otra visita no era de lo mejor (que no es culpa de la soja porque he tenido gran café de soja! ).

No gran café (bastante fuerte) y una variedad de alimentos, aunque el café griego no hemos probado la comida. Las bebidas tienen un precio razonable, aunque la comida me parece un poco caro. Es independiente y aunque parece estupendo y la comida recién hecha, así que estoy seguro de que probablemente vale la pena. El ambiente es bueno, se ha ocupado en ambas ocasiones he estado pero he podido conseguir un asiento. Hay mesas en el interior y en el exterior. Sin duda recomendaría dar una oportunidad a este sitio!

Encontré esta pequeña joya en una visita a la lectura. Ambiente encantador. Otro cliente comenzó charlando conmigo en griego sólo para darse cuenta de que estaba en inglés, y luego se disculpó y comenzó de nuevo en inglés. Ella dijo que asumí que estaba ya que la mayoría de los clientes griegos eran griegos. Increíble chocolate caliente. Aquí solo unos pocos días, pero volveré antes de ir a casa.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos a C.U. P. la semana pasada. Nos encontramos buscando en Internet algunas especialidades de café en la zona de lectura, y cuando abrimos la puerta, el ambiente era suddently bueno.

Spinach and feta pie was my choice. And Greek coffee. There is also bougatsa, but served without sugar icing.

Siamo stati da CUP la prima mattina a Reading per la prima colazione e ci siamo tornati tutte le mattine successive. Cappuccino delizioso così come il caffè. I the sono particolari e buonissimi, preparati con estrema cura. Molto bello anche il modo in cui le bevande sono servite. Ci sono poi alcune torte, biscotti, torte salate, panini e insalate. Io mi sono innamorata della torta di carote gluten free, mai mangiata una così buona, ma anche tutto il resto è ottimo. Bar ideale per la colazione ma anche per un pasto veloce. Attenzione, la torta di carote dà assuefazione!

Seguro que es el mejor café que he tenido en la lectura. Desde que me mudé hace dos años, he estado buscando el lugar donde tener una café. Finalmente encontré! Yo soy muy exigente en el café y, en especial, sobre la leche que ha de ser al vapor perfectamente. También está disponible una amplia selección de tés. Cada vez que visito que no me puedo quejar! ! !

Yo y mi pareja visita Taza al menos una vez a la semana. . . Los propietarios pero el personal también es muy amable y te hacen sentir muy cómodo. La razón por la que ir allí es porque en la lectura no se puede encontrar ningún buen café apenas con un nivel de calidad tan alto si que es un café caliente o con hielo. . La última vez que estuve. probé allí chocolate caliente que era absolutamente increíble. . .

The best tea and coffee in Reading. They make their own food and pastries, and the atmosphere is the friendliest you'll find in the city. It's right next to St Mary's church: quiet, sunny, and beautiful. My favorite coffee place.

I visited C.U.P. last week. The staff was very friendly and service was fast!!! Fantastic custard pie and feta cheese pie!!! They also serve freddo cappuccino and freddo espresso, which I thought I could find only in Greece!!! Maybe the only thing they could add to their menu is Greek style frappe iced coffee!!! Overall experience was excellent!!!
