Love this place and keep Blanchards beans at home, but I’ve begun to notice that the servers are just not very friendly. I am generally kind and undemanding; I don’t experience kindness in return. For example, today I ordered a latte and the barista placed it on the counter without acknowledging me. I very kindly said thank you and the barista neither looked at me nor spoke to me. This is now looking like a pattern and not just someone having a bad day. I hope this turns around. There are other very good options in RVA. I have given Blanchards a lot of business personally and through my workplace. But unfriendly service doesn’t sit well with me.

I’ve come to this location throughout the years and they have great coffee but the service and atmosphere is so ulwecoming. People at the register look at you like they hate you. Zero explanations on the drink menu as if the customer is supposed to know. Surprised there aren’t other reviews speaking on the service. Me as a customer - kind and don’t ask many questions.

We brought three bags up to the register to purchase. The cashier came up and was sipping on a mug of presumably coffee. She looked down at the bags and without any pleasantries said, “can you turn them around?” As she continued to sip on her coffee. It was such and odd and borderline rude interaction. I’ve never even been to a low scale fast food place where the person at the cashier was eating and drinking. I would expect better from a high end place. Not to mention she couldn’t even be bothered stop sipping her drink long enough to turn the bag so she could see the label she needed to ring them up. There was no cold brew, only iced coffee, which tasted like a poorly brewed tea. The Matcha latte was good and the girl making the latte was polite and personable. We enjoy the beans from Blanchard and will probably order them online in the future but we won’t waste our time going in store to be met with service that clearly says they don’t want to be bothered.

Wife loves this place. I'm more of a burnt diner coffee kind of guy.

Blanchard's is a victim of its own popularity, apparently. Far too crowded for my liking. I enjoy the coffee but I don't want to wait in long lines. Hope they open another location soon!

There’s no sign saying no dogs allowed, so it was embarrassing to be asked to get out of line. I get friendlier service from the DMV. Over priced for the quality of the beverages. Aldi has better pastries.

Met up with some other Vanderbilt Alumni for a nice meet up and Blanchards was a good spot. Not much parking so I'm glad I arrived a little early. Parking on the street is at a premium also. I had a blueberry muffin and a caramel latte, so really can't comment on other food selections. What I had was fresh and the coffee was good.

Coffee was pretty bitter, too much for my taste. Not a lot of variety of flavors to choose from. They have vanilla or mocha. It's a very busy place though.

Love the servers, lively environment, and delicious coffee. Music is always good too. Perfect to meet a colleague with plenty of space.

One of the OG coffee shops in RVA remains tried and trued. Minimalist environment offers a place to share laughs or meeting minutes. Their seasonal drinks offer creative opportunity while the main menu offers consistent quality.

This is our go to coffee shop on the area! Great seasonal flavors and they also have light food options as well

Darn good coffee. I really enjoyed the maple salted sweet cream (the sweet cream is vegan). I got it half sweet to suite my taste- this is what I usually do at Starbucks or other cafe and it was perfect. 10/10 Long line around 1:30, but I got my coffee within 10-15 minutes. Bright open windows and covered patio so you can still sit out there on colder days

The coffee here was so good, I got the salted maple cream latte which is a seasonal specialty drink and it was to die for. Delicious foam on the top of the latte. The interior is gorgeous, it feels like being in an art museum and there is an adjacent interior room with more tables and an outdoor enclosed patio area. In spite of all their space, this coffee shop was *packed*. When I got there the line was to the door. This was after church at ~12pm on a Sunday, so definitely peak time to go. The popularity is well earned. I got a danish tea cake and it was fine, but not on par with the quality of the coffee. It looks like they also do frequent coffee classes which would be a fun activity for a date or with friends. I imagine this is a popular working spot on weekdays and I’ll have to give it a shot sometime because I will definitely be going back!

Blanchards has my favorite coffee around. I love the taste of the lattes and the seasonal drink options (they are always unique and creative). The ube being a fave in the summer time and the banana bread latte in the winter!

One of the best coffee places in East coast. Their pour over (Guatemala) is very good.

On my world tour to find my favorite matcha, I happened upon Blanchard’s Coffee as it came recommended by my Aunt who is neighbors with the owners. This place did not disappoint—my iced matcha latte with oat milk and a dollop of honey was superb. My drink had a smooth texture, an expected vibrant green hue & an aroma that brings a sweet green vision to mind, with a silky mouthfeel. I was really impressed with the layout of the coffee shop as it had a central area that was brightly lit with spacious tables for people to meet and work. To my pleasant surprise, they had an additional area that had people quietly toiling away on their laptops, and in fact when I entered while chatting on my cell phone, everyone looked up stunned to hear someone speaking—in response I awkwardly backed out of the room to leave them to silence. It was definitely a quiet room, which I would imagine would be good for studying, reading or working. As I returned to my car, I observed outdoor seating which provided an alternate location for people to take a sip study read or work on their laptops. I loved the drink, the cool the super model appearing barista that took my order, and the several seating venue options. I will definitely stop in again on my next trip to RVA!

ordered ice vanilla latte and received an iced coffee. if i order a $6+ latte i expect there to be espresso in it. it was even busy enough for me to sympathize with making an easier drink. there were maybe 2 people in line an hour and a half before they closed.

Just discovered this 3 days back and I have been coming regularly since then all the way from Short Pump. What’s good? The coffee (vanilla latte is my fav), the vibe, service, atmosphere, that chill vibe, good enough space. What’s bad? Yet to come across any.

Coffee beans are fantastic, service is super quick, space is interesting but super busy. I would never be comfortable trying to have a conversation with someone there or trying to get any work done. Baked goods are just ok. I’d rank this a solid 7/10 in coffee shops. Top 5 in RVA for sure.

Blanchard’s coffee lived up to the hype! We visited from out of town, and we stopped by twice. Our first trip to the cafe, we ordered a bottomless drip coffee, a cappuccino with oat milk and a chocolate chip cookie to stay and sit. We enjoyed a window seat with our young child, who enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and booth seating. We were there on a Friday morning, so I noticed a lot of people working remotely from the shop. We visited again on our way out of town, and enjoyed our same coffee order again with a delicious muffin. 10/10 would recommend. Update (Nov 2024): Came back a few years later and still delighted with my experience. They expanded the seating space to include more indoor and outdoor seating. I really enjoyed my seasonal latte and a taste of their holiday blend.

Richmond had so many great coffee spots, And Blanchard's ranks highest among them. Beartrap Espresso is my daily driver at home, and with the ample space provided at the Broad St location, it's the perfect meeting spot. Love it!

Mid coffee. Not bad not great. Not worth the hype. Looks as if it gets good reviews simply for some millennial aesthetic.

If you like a good strong coffee this is the place to go to. I had a oatmilk latte. It was just the right temperature, nice foam and you could taste the coffee over the oatmilk. Will go again.

By far the best coffee served in Richmond. They're traditionalists in flavor and approach, always prioritizing quality of the drinks they served. Over the years, I've come dozens of times and the quality remains unmoved- something very difficult to accomplish with waves of staff changes over time. The food options are limited, with focus on drink quality. Its so good y'all, just go. They also have great hours and incredibly fast wifi - a great spot to settle into for some remote work.

Coffee was fine. I've had Blanchard's beans before but the coffee made at this location was only passable really. Definitely will come back for the beans later

Excellent coffee and service. The whole layout is perfect too with great seating and some of the most friendly and talented baristas. The beans are roasted very well and I haven’t had a bad pull of espresso there ever. Prices are completely fair and honestly cheap for the quality.

First time here, loved the simplicity and vibe! We had iced coffee, and it was very good. Hubby had their croissant and I had the raspberry cream cheese Danish. The croissant was very good, fluffy, light buttery taste, definitely recommend! The raspberry cream cheese Danish was a taste of heaven with extra love on top! Yes, I definitely recommend and will be back!

Top tier coffee and space especially after the expansion. The wifi is fast and staff are friendly. Great place for a chat or to work.

As someone who isn’t a coffee person, I’m always on the hunt for cafes that make a good matcha latte and there aren’t that many in Richmond. Blanchard’s was a pleasant surprise! I got my iced matcha latte with oat milk and honey and it was pretty good and reasonably priced. That, on top of being a nice place to work means I will definitely come by again!

Blanchards has such great coffee! And the atmosphere is great! I would highly recommend checking it out! It’s one of the top shops in Richmond.

Our favorite local coffee spot. We usually just pop in for coffee take-away or to re-up on (handshake) coffee beans. The inside is very minimalist type style and the sound of chatter carries. It’s typically busy so that’s just something to consider if you’re looking for a quiet cozy vibe. They also have a covered outdoor area that is super tight too. Always quick service and on point!

Unfortunately if you want the coffee, you have to endure the rude service and the pressure to tip. If you don’t tip, they won’t say a word and will glare at you

Stopped by on a Wednesday morning, and the place was busy. Had the dark roast drip coffee, and it was excellent. The chocolate croissant was fresh and flaky. A little pricey, but then again, most things are these days.

Been coming here for coffee for a year , always love they seasonal lattes !! 😍😍 And very exited to see they're expanding they seating space and outdoor space . They even have some free class to attend . Please chek them out if you love coffee 😍😍😍

i’ve had a couple of really good lattes here, but the past recent visits, they seem to making my lattes with drip coffee rather than espresso shots.. the taste isn’t bad but it really does mess with the consistency and taste of what i was expecting. not really interested in paying $6 for a cup of iced coffee with milk when lattes are more expensive.

Blanchards coffee, really wanted to support local but you aren’t dog friendly. Maybe post this on your front door and google maps site so people don’t make the effort when accompanied by furbabies .

Service was quick. Not a lot of room to sit in the lobby, almost every table had someone camped out with a laptop. Ordered two different drinks, both lacked flavor. I will return at some point to give it a second try.

There wasn't anything BAD about visiting here. However the menus placement and overly minimal vibe took away my ability to customize the coffee. Personally I'm looking for a Starbucks level of personalization but maybe just like two syrup options? Maybe a non oat dairy free option? Another bothersome part of the visit was the lack of standing space while you wait for the coffee. Nothing is worse than standing still and still somehow being in everyone's way. Finally comes the coffee itself. Personally I like a lighter roast and the cappuccino I got was definitely not that. It wasn't poorly roasted or bad quality coffee just not really want I like in my beverage. All in all there isn't anything offensive about the shop and the employees were nice and what not. Just some things I would like changed if I could do so.

I am so so picky about coffee, and this is one of my all time favorites…definitely the best coffee in Richmond by FAR imo. Coffee is just deep and rich and so good! Atmosphere is clean and bright and staff is friendly and talented. We keep coming back !

I order pickup from Blanchard's pretty much M-F. Consistently great coffee in a timely manner and excellent customer service. They’re also one of the only coffee shops in Richmond that doesn’t charge additional money for non-dairy milk options, I’m assuming it’s just reflected in their overall prices, which I adore. Highly recommended from a vanilla latte lover.

This coffee shop is all style no substance. I ordered a double shot espresso which came back incredibly sour - it was tough to get down. Please guys, feel free to hire all the hipsters you want, just ask them to pay attention when you're explaining the brew.

I gladly give Blachards and its staff 5 stars, but I give its customers 2.5. Do better Richmond... try not to have your 12 person meetings in a cute, grab-in go/ couple setting. There's just enough seating for people to screen their Tinder dates or wait on their oil changes. Show some respect

Sadly, not going back. Iced drinks loaded with too much ice. Hot drinks sometimes served lukewarm. No prices marked on the bagged coffee beans. When it's good it's good, but we've had too many inconsistent experiences recently

Definitely like this spot. This location is beautiful, the shop is clean and tidy, but I would like them offer another alternative milks no just oats, Almond, hemp will be wonderful.

Their basics are very good but if you ask for anything speciality, it’s very underwhelming and they’re essentially ripping you off 🥴

Hands down, Alissa made the best oat milk cappuccino ever with Blanchard’s single origin. Love everything about Blanchard’s coffee and their cafes. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff infusing lots of love and soul into the morning ritual of starting the day.

Trendy, bright, and friendly staff combine with a good location to make this Blanchard’s a favorite spot. The lighting and materials give the inside space a warm and inviting glow while the coffee keeps you around.

I love this place and the staff is always delightful. Of course, the coffee is great, but they’ve got these blueberry muffins and cranberry muffins that are out of this world. Perfect with a cup of coffee!

Definitely love this spot, grab a bag of coffee or two, all of their beans have been top notch. This location is absolutely beautiful, the shop is very clean and tidy, the staff is friendly and the service was very quick. Also seems to been a good place to hang out or study, but it was pretty busy, even on a Sunday!

I have a lovely experience every time :) Staff members are all friendly and courteous and I appreciate that they reserve the larger tables for groups of 2+! I’ve only ever sat in alone, but the bar area is super cute, as is the overall atmosphere of the shop. I also love to get fresh beans from here and they’ve got a variety for you to choose from. Their seasonal drinks are fun and that strawberry oat latte has a chokehold on me because it’s just so yummy!!

I really hate giving Blanchards one star because the coffee is amazing and lives up to specialty standards. But the customer service is just bad. You walk in - to any of the three locations - and are immediately greeted with a glum, what can I get you, no matter what day and location. Rather than a hi how are you? What can I get you? When you ask questions such as what they have on espresso and such it’s quickly answered and dismissed rather than seen as a point of conversation. It’s almost like any point of contact with the customer is seen as a chore instead of a privelege. Not to mention, their sign that you cannot take pictures if there’s others in it is so small and Ill-placed that anyone is going to miss it. And why would you not take pictures of the beautiful space. But if you do, you’ll be asked - aggressively- to not take pictures and to see their policy. Which I’ve spoken with dozens and dozens of people who all disagree and find it pointless. It’s impossible to take pictures of a space without people in it. And bothering them for “permission” is interrupting their workflow. All around it’s a great space but the service is below subpar. For specialty coffee we all know connection is the first step and Blanchards starkly misses that unfortunately. Which drastically affects drink quality more than we think. I revisit for the quality of coffee but always end up regretting it due to not feeling welcome even when we give a warm smile and welcome to the baristas.

I only drink hot coffee that’s full of sweeteners and other fun things (basically breakfast dessert drink). HOWEVER at Blanchards I’m happy to get a regular ice latte because it’s JUST THAT GOOD. Whenever I go on a work day, I tell my coworkers “I went out of the way for the good coffee” instead of my usual drive thru options.

Blanchard's Coffee on Broad Street has truly mastered the art and science of coffee. Every visit is a delightful coffee journey. Their selection of single-origin beans is exceptional, and I never miss an opportunity to take home a bag, freshly roasted and bursting with unique flavors. The espresso service deserves special mention. Not only is the quality consistently top-notch, but the thoughtful addition of mineral water showcases their dedication to the true coffee experience. It's these nuances that elevate Blanchard's above the rest. And while I'm personally drawn to the espresso, my significant other swears by their cold brew. Smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed, it's her go-to pick-me-up on our visits. For anyone who truly values their coffee, Blanchard's Coffee on Broad Street is a beacon of excellence. Their passion for the bean and dedication to their craft shine through in every cup. Highly recommended!

Coffee was amazing but my Verizon hotspot doesn’t work well here, so I had to take a star off ): Lots of people working solo. Otherwise perfect. Their house wifi is ok so far, but you gotta ask the barista for the PW. Edit: I changed to 5 stars cause I literally can’t stop thinking about their vanilla latte, weeks after first trying it. Who cares about wifi? Not me.

Highest quality coffee in Richmond! We are avid coffee drinkers and we love a smooth decadent cup of coffee. It’s not burnt, overly roasted coffee like most other coffee shops. Modern, clean, aesthetic inside. Reminds me of The Quirk hotels. Their focus is on high quality coffee so the food options are limited. Also great if you are non-dairy - it’s the only oat milk cappuccino/ latte that I’ve ever actually enjoyed! They also have a lot of non-dairy little pastries and yogurt and such. Great service too! I never wait more than 5 minutes. Their online ordering system actually works too (unlike many other small business). Overall - highest quality coffee. I can’t drink anywhere else now. It’s ruined me.

Pretty over priced for what the coffee is. Have had a couple drinks from there now, all I'd consider pretty weak at best. For $7 a latte it's really gotta be pretty much perfect in my opinion, and this isn't close.

Had an excellent oat milk latte and I enjoyed a tasty baked good. Service staff was fast and courteous. Atmosphere is simple and inviting with adequate space for computer/phone work, free wifi and a "bottomless" cup of coffee.
