Coffee Plus in Cardiff

quick coffee take out .....£3.20 quite pricey I thought for small coffee in plastic cup .....nice coffee but price put me off a return..... surely take out should be a lot cheaper? odd

There every week at 1ish. Excellent in all fields can't fault it. Might have to wait bit no worries food is alway good hot and tasty.

Stunning coffee and food. The area out the back is perfect for dogs and nice weather. Would definitely recommend if you're passing by :)

My MIL visited here last Thursday. She’s 85. She’s a broken arm, & can’t walk very well. Has to use 2 sticks. She asked an assistant if she could kindly order a coffee from her seat as she was struggling. The ‘owner’ then verbally abused her & her friend. Saying she has no right to ask her staff. To get up and go to the counter herself. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Not sure why she went back after the first time last year. I’ve had similar curt and sarcastic service, only ever went there once. Never again. Discussing treatment of any customer. Complacency can cause a business to fail. Do not give them your money …

Such a lovely Coffee shop, absolutely love the cabins with the heaters kids love to sit in them and have a hot chocolate and some cake. Always so busy and everyone is so friendly, it's a short walk from Roath park so we often take a walk down there after our hot chocolate and cake. Always the best service never disappoints.

Really nice garden area, the food is lovely but they need more staff because you can tell they are under a lot of pressure and barely can keep up. They try their best to be honest. It’s the second time I’ve been here and it’s certainly much better but still needs some improvements staff wise. It’s either staff to be better trained or to have more people around. It would be nice to have the heater on outside (we didn’t know how to switch it on), and possibly they don’t switch it on in the afternoon but there weren’t any seats inside. Amazing for dog owners.

Excellent experience today for a Walking Group of 10 retirees - phoned ahead to reserve a garden table, great selection of light lunches & coffees, delivered in good time. Plenty of seating - either outside at the front or rear garden, or inside. All enjoyed it ✅

Very friendly staff , great coffee and food, relaxed atmosphere and plenty of seating area, in and outside.

Overall a very nice experience for our first. Only comment would be the price of a single finger of twirl from a multipack charged at 80p. This is the cost of a normal two finger pack from shops.

Lovely coffee shop, food was lovely as was coffee and cake. Only negative and can be improved was using paper plates and paper coffee cups even when eating in. Not ideal for the environment as I don’t think these paper cups can be recycled. Not sure reasons but hopefully only temporary and the carbon footprint can be reduced on this lovely place soon!

Extremely poor treatment from owner towards diligent staff members. Hard-working staff go above and beyond for the lovely customers but are spoken to like dirt by the owner and a hostile environment is created whenever she is present. Degrading treatment from management would not be tolerated in a chain coffee shop but because this is a small business it is openly accepted.

Lovely little cafe, love their tuna melts.

Writing a 1* review solely for the purpose management. As a whole it’s a lovely cafe and the staff are incredible, however the management is horrendous and treats her staff incredibly poorly. For this reason I would not recommend this cafe at all and don’t want to be paying into a business that treats its employees so badly. Teresa needs to look after and respect her staff more and then maybe her staff wouldn’t all walk out in one go.

Good coffee and friendly customer service. Visited on a Saturday morning and this cafe has changed a lot. Now there are a lot more staff and there are numerous food offerings. It seems to be a lot busier than a few years ago.

We love Coffee Plus and go there whenever we can. The staff are amazing and their carrot cake is the best I've ever tasted

Visited with friends recently, we love coming to coffee plus for lunch and coffee. Staff always so pleasant and helpful, garden is a plus in the summer!

Lovely atmosphere. I have visited this cafe many times, and decided to take a client I look after. We enjoyed a meal. I was impressed as always with their delicious bacon sandwich and an americano. Service was prompt and friendly. My client and I played chess which surprised the owner. Lol. Recommended for food, refreshments and friendliness.. A dog friendly cafe also,

This looked like a lovely place but we were baffled by the bizarre and unfriendly reception arrangements. We had booked a table and my friend arrived first. She was told in no uncertain terms to wait outside. When I arrived we were told that we couldn't go in until we had ordered food outside. We stood in a queue outside and then ordered food through a glass hatch. We were still not allowed inside, but had to wait outside until eventually called well after our table booking time. Strange that such lovely place treats its customers like this. We are both in our 70s and have never been treated like this anywhere. Food was pleasant enough but we won't be going again I'm afraid. What a shame!

I visit quite frequently. The current ordering system in which one orders at an outside hatch with the food and drink being brought to you, seems to slow things down a lot though.

Thoroughly enjoyed coffee and cake

We often visit Coffee Plus. The owner is a pocket rocket and both her and the staff are lovely.The atmosphere here is also very pleasant. The coffee is excellent but the bacon sandwiches are out of this world as the bacon is not streaky bacon but thick cut proper bacon and the bread is high quality. Excellent.We haven’t tasted better in Cardiff. You can eat outside, inside or in the larger well laid out quieter garden which has 6 sheds if you like a bit of privacy. Word of WARNING - if you do call to try it out you’ll probably make it a regular visit. Quality does count.

I spent my day here working as I needed a change of scenery and I recalled enjoy it here from start to finish. All of the staff were amazing, attentive and clearly hard workers! From 11:00am onwards it got really busy but everyone seemed to have it under control, quick service and all customers visibly really happy. In terms of facilities the place was spotless inside and out, lovely appearance and a comfortable feel throughout my visit. Whether you are a family, a couple or just popping in for a break, the menu works well for anything and the staff appear ready for anything! Shout out to all the staff who worked Friday 13th, you all did an amazing job!

We live locally and have visited the coffee shop a number of times recently to sit in the garden area out the back. Each time we have had to wait approx 30 mins for our coffee & food to arrive, each time the coffee was served in a paper take-out cup with no sugar and no cutlery in order to stir our drinks, no napkins with our food and the sauce was served in a paper container, again with no cutlery in order to use the sauce. This had happened on every occasion. We then have to ask staff for the items needed, which each time our food and drinks have gone cold whilst waited for them to return. Why not bring basic things like this with the order, like everywhere else does. And to pay approx £4 per hot drink, to then be served in a paper cup I feel is over priced and not eco friendly. Disappointing.

Back garden is fantastic in the sun, and the coffee was good too 😎. Cabins available for the cold and wet weather! Really is a hidden haven.

Have lived within the vicinity of the cafe for years and the disregard for local residents is very apparent. Not being able to park near our own houses, or even access our drives as customers of the cafe park atrociously. Furthermore, with the recent work being done to the cafe, there had been no communication of the disruption it would cause. With many residents working from home, the constant noise is proving difficult to get any work done at all. Any communication at all would've gone a long way with the residents of the street. If the owners of the vans that are doing the work could refrain from parking on double yellows it would be significantly safer to pull out of the street.

Cosy coffee shop with a local feel. Ordered paninis for lunch but was disappointed by the paper plates and plastic cups. It was nice enough, but came without any garnishes or side salad. For a price of £5, this was disappointing, especially given many other coffee shops in Cardiff offer more variety and better value for money

Dissapointing that the waiters are not wearing masks, yet using the 'covid' card as a reason to give disposable plates and get customers to clean their own tables. However, the lunch food was tasty and the coffee is good!

Standard coffee shop with an average menu, I dined outside so I can't fully rate the interior of the shop however I would recommend not sitting outside at the front purely because it can get rather noisey with it being next to the main road.

Popped in for two milkshakes, over 25mins wait so far....on a take out. Absolutely ridiculous. Can't comment on the shake itself as I'm still in the queue waiting for it.

I love going to the Rhydypenau Rd CF14 coffee +. They know us and are always welcoming. The food is good and we go for the quality of the food and the welcome.
