Coffee & Co in Dundee City

Very friendly people, good latte & pancakes, nice & calm atmosphere. Big variety of coffee (of course) and bites for breakfast and all day.

During my recent visit to Coffee & Co in Dundee, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff that the café is known for. I must also mention how lovely the ladies' bathrooms were! However, despite their pleasant demeanour, my experience was overshadowed by the evident understaffing issues plaguing the establishment during peak hours. Despite their friendliness, it was evident that the staff were struggling to keep up with the demands of the busy period. Their efforts were commendable, but it's clear that the management needs to provide better support by ensuring adequate staffing levels. As a customer, I appreciate good service, but not at the expense of the well-being of the staff. It's disheartening to see such hardworking individuals being stretched thin due to poor management decisions. Coffee & Co has the potential to be a great establishment, but they need to prioritize the welfare of their staff to provide a truly enjoyable experience for both customers and employees alike.

We love C&C, we're regulars. It's always cosy, the loos are immaculate, and I love the cheese scones. It helps that the staff are so pleasant.

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the treatment of staff by the owners of Coffee and Co, which I recently visited. During my stay, I witnessed appalling behavior towards the employees, which has left me deeply troubled. The owners of Coffee and Co, demonstrated a complete disregard for the well-being and dignity of their staff. They were rude, condescending, and openly disrespectful, creating a hostile work environment that was palpable to guests like myself. It was evident that the staff members were subjected to undue stress and mistreatment, impacting their morale and ultimately affecting the quality of service provided. As a patron, I believe it is imperative to speak out against such unacceptable conduct. No individual should be subjected to such treatment in their workplace, and it is distressing to see it go unchecked. I would like to emphasise the importance of promoting ethical and respectful practices within the hospitality industry. Businesses that fail to uphold basic standards of decency should be held accountable for their actions.

Popped in here after visiting the McManus Museum. A great selection of drinks and sweet and savoury treats. Lovely ambience with soft music. Very clean. Staff were really nice and everything was served really quickly. Would absolutely go back!

I just love coffee and co. The food is always tasty & it has such a nice vibe with the cheerful music. I went with my eldest son today and we had a tasty panini followed by a tasty cake. Lots of variety & so reasonably priced. The toilets are also a highlight - clean & lovely soap. When we are in Dundee city centre we always try and pop by.

This place was terrible if you want to have a quiet time to do some work. The woman that looked to be the owner or manager hounded me for trying to charge my laptop, when I have explained that I only required it for ten seconds. She repeated that her “establishment was not for charging equipment” so this is an awful choice if you’re a student who want to do some work. I want to clarify that this is not a laptop free café considering my friend already had her laptop out and was not bothered by this woman. It felt like a micro aggression considering I was not going to take up space at a large empty table and explained that I did not require the charger for a long period of time and she did watch me use it for ten seconds. Overall an unfriendly and uncomfortable atmosphere created by this woman and I would not recommend it at all.

Visited yesterday looked like a nice quirky cafe was very surprised by the fact that other than soup the only lunch offering appeared to be basic pre-made sandwiches all on white bread with processed cheese and minimal fillings . Waitress while pleasant showed no effort to attempt to source any alternatives and whilst we ordered a cheese toaster we recieved a ham and cheese toastoe Very disappointing we won’t return

Popped in for a coffee with friends after a visit to McManus gallery. Great little cafe where we had lovely cakes and delicious coffee. Friendly staff and the toilets were superb! Will definitely return on our next trip to Dundee

We love our coffee and had travelled down to Dundee for a weekend break with friends. A quick search on the phone highlighted this independent coffee shop and we though "Great, we'll have a light lunch" To be fair, the coffee was fabulous and I would rate 5 out of five. However the panini's? I selected "Chicken & Bacon" and when it arrived - just the panini on a small plate I though "Okay, no salad. We are out for a big meal tonight so no big deal." One bite and I was forced to open up the two halves. Not sure how I can describe the filling but I'll try - It was an off white thin paste, which potentially contained some chicken. Absolutely no sign of any bacon. To compound matters, my wife had also ordered the same. Our friends had said, you should put that back, but we were down for a fun city break and I didn't want to spoil the vibe. It was really poor food and lets the coffee and premises down badly. Sorry.

Not great. Coffee and tea was good. Had a bagel. Bagel was pressed to death in a panini toasting machine. Bagel toppings uninteresting—just mid quality butter. Not bad. But expensive. Gotta be better places.

I was in enjoying my coffee for about an hour and 45 minutes (checked timestamp of my laptop, she contradicted me) and the owner told me I have to leave, because I'm using up more than I'm spending. I had an open 'bar tab' and I was going to order more coffee and lunch since it was getting to 1pm, but I haven't even finished the one I currently had! I was on a bigger table because I was nervous about people bumping into it and spilling my coffee mug over my laptop, and because I was planning on having my drawing tablet out but I never got to that point. If a big group of people walked in I would've moved without being asked, but the cafe wasn't busy throughout lunch or when I was told to leave, maybe 5 tables were free. At first I felt so bad but when I got home I checked my laptop's usage and even with the new prices, at the time of this review I costed the cafe about 6p! She saw how upset I was about causing trouble and allowed me to stay if I ordered more, but I was so uncomfortable after. It's too bad because it was my favourite coffee shop before this incident, but I won't return and I will tell everyone else about it too. This is also not the first time I see the owner asking people to leave for things like talking loudly. I wish there was more tact in the discussion, like being asked if I'd like to order more instead of flat out 'you need to leave'.

Lovely little cafe, cosy and welcoming with pleasant surroundings. Friendly staff, excellent coffee and food at reasonable prices. Much better than the usual coffee shop chains. The loos are outstanding- worthy of a 4* hotel! Well done and thank you! Will definitely return on next visit to Dundee.

Good to be back... With lock down easing and our office opening up again, it's nice to pop back in for great coffee, cake and services.

It's nice to find a cafe that still sells filter coffee along with all other coffees and a large choice of teas. The food is of a very good standard.

Lovely coffee but not too sure about the ambiance or the cake. It had quite a strange feel for a city centre cafe. When I visited as a tourist, I felt that the tables were already taken, and would be for the rest of the day, by the older adults who looked like they were making a day out of it. Very chatty with staff. Three staff members, one who looked like they knew what they were doing, the others looked slightly out of place, but probably doing ok as the place was full of regulars. I am not sure how this place (or the staff) would cope if they had a surge of new and unfamiliar customers. As I said, my coffee was lovely, but brought to me in a cup, on a tray, no saucer and spilling. The server mentioned nothing and left it with me. I had to ask for sugar, this was brought with no spoon, which I had to ask for. The cake was very dry, ok, but I don't think worth the price. It's a beautiful building, in a lovely location and probably capable of much more. Maybe the familiarity and and contentment of the regulars means they no longer try to make the effort for newbies?

. . . a warm welcome in a cosy atmosphere. I had a comfy seat on the sofa and my son joined me. I couldn't believe the prices, and said so, meaning such good value and beautifully served; the young staff are clearly happy in their work. My son loves to pop in for a coffee, especially when it's raining, as it feels so cosy; lovely to see other customers enjoy themselves. I recommend and will return when back in Dundee to see my son.
