Coelho's Picados & Skewer House in Medway

What a dreadful disappointment. Went as family group for my fathers birthday. Where to start ? * On arrival told mandatory 12% service charge WILL be added. *Waitress told my father she didn't have all night when holding a menu you infant of him he had not seen ( he is blind and it is obvious). *Five starters arrived, the sixth about ten minutes later *Four mains arrived the last two after half an hour. *Another tables drinks added to our bill (£40) All in all very poor, food was not bad apart from piecemeal delivery. Very noisy inside as no sound suppression and if you get a loud table you all pay for it. Been before, wonder whether the owner or management have changed !!!!

I found this new cafe on instagram when looking for a place to eat with my mum and nan for my birthday and we are very impressed. There are lots of choices on the menu including vegan, the food was delicious and very well presented so served with a friendly face. We would definitely recommend this to friends and family and will certainly be coming back. Thank you

Definitely worth a visit - we will be back! Everything was excellent, staff were very friendly and food was great. We visited on Friday 30th August and there was a female vocalist who was superb. Thank you for a great evening!

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The service was bad, and the food was subpar. When we received the bill, we noticed items that we hadn't ordered. We asked for them to be removed, which is a reasonable request. However, the manager's response was shockingly unprofessional. Instead of apologizing for the mistake, we were blamed for the incorrect bill. After the items were finally removed, we asked to have the service charge taken off as well, given the poor service we had received. The manager's attitude was appalling—she questioned why we wanted it removed and sarcastically asked, "Well, you got service no?' and 'Did they not tell you when you come in that service charge isn't optional?" Frankly, I've never heard of a restaurant that informs you about a mandatory service charge upon entry. The manager begrudgingly removed the charge but not without making us feel unwelcome. I did not expect this kind of behavior from a restaurant, and both the service and the prawns left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for good service and a pleasant dining experience.

What a pleasant surprise! Nice venue (we sat in the garden today) and food was delicious. We were served quite quickly and staff was so welcoming! Absolutely recommended.

Delicious food with a selection of Madeiran giant kebab-style skewers or picados (casseroles). Choice of inside or outside seating. What really stood out was the friendly and professional service from Gabi and the other staff. A lovely evening out.

Service very slow, Very disappointed food was not very good main meal was sirloin stroganoff but not called that , very sinue grissly and nobody came to ask how our meal was, 12.5 % service charge over the top. Waitress condescending. Will not go again

Amazing service. Lovely staff. Great food. Definitely get lots of pasta del natas. Best I’ve ever had! The lamb was also top notch.

The staff were very friendly welcoming and helpful. Food was good and the atmosphere meant it felt just like being on holiday!!

This was my first visit. The food, staff and atmosphere were all amazing. Entertainment was brilliant. Parking was a little busy.

Wonderful night out. The staff were very warm and welcoming, and the live music really added to the atmosphere. The sardine starter, and the Portuguese custard tarts were a highlight. On the negative side, I found the music a bit loud and conversation was a little hard. The sirloin skewers were all a little tough, and my order of rare was slightly overdone. Would have been five stars out of four otherwise. It was a super place to go and celebrate a birthday.

Went for my daughter in laws birthday tonight and I can say we had the most amazing time. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, the atmosphere was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. This little gem is now at the top of my list of places to go!

Having been twice before and had excellent food but awful service we were worried!! Need not have been! Excellent service from Gabi and friends! Attentive and very friendly. 100% improvement… food delicious and overall good value…. Thank you. A lovely family meal.

We have been to this restaurant before and have been very disappointed with the service. This time the service was very good, our waitress, Gaby, was delightful. Very friendly and knowledgeable making suggestions as to what to try. The food was excellent, the skewers are a lively way to serve the meat. The lobsters are a sight to see and taste delicious. We were given complimentary drinks to start and finish the meal, lovely.

Gabriella looked after us a treat.. a smiling lady with a twinkle… the service was so good and the food amazing. Thank you so much! We shall be back .

Lovely meal for my sons birthday. Great service, never had to wait for drinks or any thing extra we asked for. Food was lovely and plenty of it.Steak was lovely cooked perfectly . Will go back soon.

Our first visit, despite being local, should have come sooner! Lovely place, quick, efficient, friendly service. Lovely staff. Great food, really good portions, everything was delicious 😋. Really nice cosy atmosphere, one for you if you don't like the big noisy chain restaurants. Will definitely be back!

we were looking forward to our 2nd visit here. Took two friends with us to experience the restaurant . I can not fault the staff and the food ,which was excellent . However on entry to the restaurant there was a singer in the corner which seemed a bit loud for the size of room .I asked to be seated towards the rear as to be further away . The girl singing was ok at first and she took a break after a while . But it then turned into a karaoke night with various women screaming out Tina Turner songs . This might be ok for some ,but not what you want for a night out with friends . Perhaps the restaurant should tell guests that there will be a karaoke before they book . Sadly will not return and would advise others to check before booking . regards John and Clare

Good and reasonable lunch and brunch menu. Plenty of choice - authentic Portuguese. Good service and a lovely atmosphere. Busy in the evenings.

Stumbled across this absolute gem after visiting a nearby business. The menu was extensive and very authentic, big portions, lunch menu prawn picado totally delicious, the skewers look amazing. Good selection of wines and they have super bock beer on tap! The food was absolutely amazing. Truly felt like I was in Madeira the decor was so authentic too. Great service also.

Absolutely beautiful food, the owner is delightful and makes a point of speaking to everyone that enters the restaurant, she even spent 10 minutes going through the menu and explaining all the ingredients, we are foodies and are at some of the best restaurants and of all cultures, anyone who says the food here isn't good quite honestly is either out to damage the business or doesn't know food...we will be back again and again, lunch menu is really value for money to, I cannot fault this place. All staff were friendly and attentive, there was a new staff member so the owner let us know she was learning still, she still looked after us very well. If you want good, authentic cuisine from Madeira, a nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the owner there overlooking everything then this is your place.

Very nice valentines meal. Plenty of attentive staff who helped create a friendly and informal atmosphere, amongst the thousands or rose petals (it was valentines!) Would recommend the fillet steak and chicken. Was fun to take it off the hanging skewer, quite a skill in itself. House Red wine was smooth and (compared to London prices) the whole meal didn’t seem expensive for the quality. Next best thing to being in Portugal!

Fantastic environment! Better than a lot of local Madeira restaurants! A real pearl of the Atlantic in London! Thank you for the lovely time!
