Very generous size cod, crispy batter and chips all well cooked. Homemade curry sauce lush! Nice pies. Great service, friendly staff. Highly recommend as a regular customer, enjoy!

probably the best local chippy ive had in a while. the fish was really crispy and so were the chips! you get a lot of value for money. defo coming here again. only thing they need is a dine-in area.

Great food here, one of the very best i've been to amongst many. If there was one issue i'd say the portions are smaller than they used to be. The fish usually fits in the box now & used to have to be folded at the tail end! The portions of chips are much smaller too. The opening times are not great i'd suggest with early closing in the evening. However it's definitely worth a visit & i'll get my fish &chips or chicken curry off the bone there again for sure as i live locally.

Fantastic service and not expensive. Go there close to closing time and get some bargains

It’s fair to say that this was probably the best takeaway fish & chips I’ve ever had. Airy and crispy batter, proper cod and and a lot of it. Even the chips were double cooked and crispy. We went there because of the funny name, but will go back because of the excellent fish & chips.

Nice and friendly staff ,food excellent, don’t be afraid to try .Parking can be a problem,but would recommend this fish shop anytime

We visited Pontypridd with the intention of buying some Christmas presents from the indoor market, Warren James the Jewellers, H Samuels, B & M Bargains, Pep & Co, Savers, Shaw's, and Boots. Once we finished the shopping, we visited the Park which was absolutely beautiful. From the Park we took a short stroll to the retail park to buy more presents from B & Q and Argos. Whilst there we googled local chip shops and decided to visit the Codfather. The chippy was a little off the beacon track, but was a great find. We ordered jumbo sausage in batter, steak and kidney pie and two large bags of chips. The portion sizes were excellent and the prices were very good. We walked back to the Park to eat our food which was still piping hot. The food was delicious and we will definitely be returning. After eating we did our weekly shop at Iceland before heading home to wrap the presents. We can't wait to visit both Pontypridd and the Codfather soon.

Great food, love the huge fish & the chicken curry off the bone. Although portions of chips seem to have become a bit smaller they are still tasty.

Food was good but lady serving was really rude, as I walked in she was chatting to another guy (friend etc) for a few minutes before asking for my order without looking at me, after a few minutes she asked me for my order which was (Cod, chips and peas), not bad quite tasty and fresh, however, she started getting my food done whilst still talking to friend etc and ask me 3 times if I want salt and vinegar, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS or COMMUNICATION skills won’t use again, was no thank you etc when leaving and appalling service but good food

Always start with a positive - all credit to them for being one of the very few open at this difficult time......but hugely overpriced for the tiniest portions I’ve seen in many years. I ordered one large fish and large chips and one small fish and small chips - price £15.80, which is a good couple of pounds more than I normally pay for far smaller portions than I get from my local chippies. When I got home there was absolutely no difference between the portions....both VERY small - certainly far from what you’d call plate-fillers (unless of course you normally eat off a side-plate). Fish too big for the big box someone has previously stated.......you have to be joking! I’ve read other comments saying these are the best fish and chips people have ever tasted....really? You clearly need to widen your horizons.

Quality as good as always but it seems the prices have gone up and the portions have gone smaller . Fish looked small in the box and the chips were skimpy ,a far cry from what I've been used to at the Cod Father.

Not had a bad meal from this chippie ever over many visits. Try the fish that's too big to fit in the big box! Super delicious batter & light fish. One of the best chippies i've ever eaten from.

I would like too start by saying if you haven’t had any food from the codfather you ain’t lived this place hands down never fails the best fish and chips ever from the warm welcoming to the fresh fish cooked perfectly batter is the right texture chips are too die for even when your full you won’t leave a scrap it’s that nice I don’t have fish and chips all the time but when I do I travel from Cardiff to the codfather highly recommended .

The fish and chips here are amazing the fish portion is huge and plenty of chips the batter on the fish light and crunchy would never go anywhere else

Really good food, but whenever i think "i fancy some chips" its never open. i'd say the last 4/5 times i've passed, it's been closed at prime time 6-7pm

My partner took me here for dinner as he's been there before so I was a codfather virgin, oh my days the portions were huge, I thought I'd struggle to eat it all but my god the fish was beautiful and the batter was banging, chips were lovely too and the fruity curry sauce, best fish and chips by far and really cheap too which is always a bonus, the lady who served us was really friendly and chatty and so welcoming, 10/10 for everything

Pensé que iba a bajar la comida para comer "fish and chips" locall así...2 tartas, 2 pasteles de pescado (enganchado así me cobraron por 1 sólo, bonito), patatas grandes @ £5.60. Me pareció una ganga, es una tarta tarta supongo pero estos estaban bien (no tenían casco/como he tenido en otros lugares). Las patatas fritas eran cocinados muy agradable, bien cocido pensé aunque un poco oscuro, una feria quizás parte de tamaño enorme, pero no lo suficientemente para dos de nosotros para compartir. Señora sirve de manera muy agradable.

Excellent little take away! Just wanted something quick and easy yet tasty and this was an excellent little find.

Myself and fiancé had a Codfather yesterday. Absolutely delicious fish and chips at an excellent price. If your passing through Cilfynydd and your a bit hungry it's well worth a visit.
