Cod N Rock in Hounslow

Inedible. Appalling. Waste of money. I nipped out on my break from work to grab something for dinner, and thought I'd try this place. Foolishly I didn't open the fish and chips until I got back to work, and wasn't able to return and demand a refund. The portion of chips was tiny (£3) - I counted them. There were 22 chips. Not very big, lots of hard tiny, spiky ones. Thoroughly disappointing. The fish was completely inedible - God knows how long it was sitting there, but it was hard, and I was able to snap it like it was made of cheap wood. It had a horrible yellow discolouring under the incredibly hardened batter, and there was about half a forkful of white meat that could be considered fit for human consumption. Worst fish and chips I've ever had, and if i didn't have to remain at work I'd be going right back for a refund. Disgusting. I feel like I've been robbed for £11.50

The fish was crispy, moist and cooked to perfection, Chips were so nice and warm, and since it’s cold these days it warmed me up inside too🤤 I also got a chicken burger 🍔 which was hot,, juicy and seasoned perfectly with sooo much mayo sauce. Not to mention the friendly atmosphere and staff very kind attitude and realistic. The food is definitely worth it AND it’s cooked fresh right in front of you. They don’t cook anything before you order. I’ve been here before and have received the same kind of experience I don’t know why this place hasn’t got 5 stars because that’s what it deserves.please trust me and check out the incredible food!! 🍟🤤🍔

The place itself is not the best nor the worst: tiny with no dining area and outdated decor. Difficult to park the car if you are not local.. Language barrier. Nevertheless my £13.45 Large Cod and chips deserves more than 5 stars and so the chef that cooked it to perfection. The fish was meaty, soft and very tasty. I normally remove the horrible soggy floppy coating but this one was as light as Viennese schnitzel...slim, light, golden crispy.. The chips were a generous portion, chunky and tasty. I tried this place for the first time as on my new route home...I thank the woman that cooked my dinner with such care :) Sorry I didn't take the pictures this time( 1i was so hungry I forgot)but will at my next visit!

It used to be a half decent chippy. Now you go in, no other customers and after sampling the food I can see why. Undercooked chips. Poor quality and small amount of batter on the fish, the cod is similar to a bird's-eye frozen fillet. Such a shame, when it was cod and rock it was a decent value and quality chip shop

Waited for over half an hour and the food was awful. The cod was limp, tasteless and the batter was pale, it tasted strange and I don’t think it had been properly cooked. The curry sauce was also awful and solid and chunky instead of pourable like any normal curry sauce. The chips were also hard as rocks and strange tasting. Never going back

Supposed to be open and I walked a mile to eat and it was closed. Updating your hours would’ve been nice. 👎🏼

Cod looked and tasted funny, mushy and horrible. Chips did not taste like chips i know, i do not know what oil they fry them in, will never go again.

This tiny local takeaway is owned by a gentleman who is passionate about making perfect chips. Fresh, hot and crisped to just the right degree. He takes pride is salting and vinegaring in the most attentive way.

Visited this place last October, when i was in London. Loved the place and the food . The owner was really friendly and loved talking to him . Great portion size too . I'll be definitely visiting the place again .

The last time I came here, i was served chips that must have been sitting there for hours. Hard and dry. If you want a decnet chip shop, go to Albany fish bar, far better.

Fresh cooked cooked to order. Had the chilli paneer load chips and was delicious and good value for money!! Huge portion.

Incredible amount and its value. Can't image this is mini size fries and regular COD, bigger than normal bottle water. Taste is also delicious. All fresh made after ordering. Must try!

Fresh Haddock cooked to order and well worth the wait. It was pouring down with rain and the Friday night orders were coming in thick and fast, which is always a good sign. Clearly lives up to the excellent reviews. A really good chippy.

Normally this place is really good, but just had a terrible experience. Ordered online (Uber eats) and asked very clearly for no salt on the chips. They were salted when delivered. Shop refused to change them, even when presented with the order as evidence. (Uber eats were ages delivering so the fish was awful, soggy and cold too, but that probably wasn’t the shop’s fault and they did offer to replace that, weirdly - why replace the fish that’s not your fault, but not the chips that is???) Moral of the story: don’t trust them to read online orders correctly. Ring and confirm.

I have been working and staying in Brentford for a long period off time and can seriously recommend this fish and chip shop ,everything cooked fresh on order and the quality is consistent nicely cooked chips fresh crisp batter and nice mushy peas ,good value for money and the portion sizes more than generous .Anyone local who hasn't tried it or visitors to the area should give this establishment a try as it's well worth it .

Maybe the best fish and chip shop in Hounslow. I have been going here every week since moving to Brentford, the fish is always deliciously crispy on the outside, succulent and tasty on the inside. You always get a generous portion of chips and a friendly smile from the owner. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Don't pretty bad, but try not to go on weekends or Fridays because they don't change the oil so often and whatever you ask for will be a little heavy

I work a garage and love to support local businesses..I live in ascot and normally on my way hom get fish and chips from the lock fyne restaurant in ascot which costs 9.99 .however went to this fish and chip shop in Brentford. So pie and chips and a savoly 12.50 and was cold

When this shop first opened it was fantastic. Sadly they have lost our custom today. The food was barely warm, many of the chips were hard, the Saveloy was cold & tasteless. The fish did not seem freshly cooked. Very disappointing particularly as I love supporting local.

I'm from Oxford and London is very cheap on their portion size. A large in London is a medium in Oxford and more expensive. This is one place though that does give you a bit more than most other places. It's tasty.

Wow wow wow. And this is not the good kind! This must be the worst Fish and Chip shop I have been too. I ordered and the service was Uber slow and the food was just as bad. I got a stone cold pie and I mean it was ice cold and the inside was frozen. I also ordered the falafel as they do almost anything and if you like falafels to be rock hard then this is the place for you. Would never go back even if they paid me to! Want a good fish and chip shop GO to anyone else but this. #shocking

Great fish and chips. Often you can get soggy batter and greasy chips, but this wasn’t the case. Nicely cooked and tasted great.

Good prices. They cook the food fresh for you so it is served hot. They wrap it well and it stays warm for the journey home. The portion sizes are good. They have stools to sit on while you wait for the food to be cooked, but no tables, it isn't an 'eat in' place. No toilets. It is perfect for take away though.

Nice & new local fish & chip shop in Brentford. A welcome addition to the area. The food here is cooked fresh to order; the portions are really decent too and it all tastes great. Parking can be abit tricky though. The best place to go is pets at home and walk from there in my opinion. Will no doubt be coming back here soon!

Best fish and chips I've had for years. I have bought fish and chips here several times since these guys have opened.. They have NEVER let me down. Food is always fresh. Cod and chip portions are very generous. So make sure your hungry!! Cooked perfectly... Not too much batter and you can taste the quality of the fish. I cannot reccommend this place enough. Oh the sausage in batter is awesome too. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Give Cod n Rock a try... They will not disappoint!!

Good clean chippys are few and far in between. In Cod N Rock, fresh, quality fish, good portion size, value for money meal deals are all served with a side of smile. Highly recommended takeaway in Brentford- just opposite to Holiday Inn.

Just had cod and chips and my daughter had the fish cake and I gotta say it was banging.. Chips were lively and the fish was amazing.. I was very grateful to the man who gave me a very LARGE piece of cod when he found out I worked for the London Ambulance Service .. I have taken some menus and will be giving this place a big thumbs up for my fellow members in green

Fish was lovely. But the chips were a total disaster. They taste like they either reheated or half cooked earlier the cooked more when needed. To be honest won’t be going there again.

The batter at the bottom of the fish was a bit soggy and the chips could have been a bit crispier.

Popped in on the way back home due to M4 closure detour. So pleased we did. Only needed a portion cod and chips and this was perfect. Freshly cooked and was finished quickly by my daughter who doesn't normally eat fish and chips 😋 Sits in a little parade of shops and was nice and clean. Friendly staff who all wore masks. Will definitely pop in again next time I pass by. Definitely worth a visit.

Cod had a great flavour, one of the best I’ve ever had from a chipppie, and was nicely battered. Chips were good but could have been cooked a little more. But hey they’re super busy and have only just opened. They’re lovely people and look forward to going back.

Just tried this new fish n chip shop on the 2nd day of opening. Cod was very nice but the batter was a bit soggy & would have been nicer if it was crispy, maybe the fryers need to be hotter.....chips were lovely though, perfect... I'm sure that very soon the batter will be spot on as its very early days for this brand new establishment. Thank you
