Cock and Bottle Inn Morden in Purbeck

We have visited the Cock and Bottle for lunch and dinner on numerous occasions since it reopened under new management. It has become our favourite place to eat, we have gone with different friends, who have all loved it. The food is very definitely homemade and so much the better for it. A few weeks ago, we had the best Sunday Roast we've ever had out. The pub is very warm and welcoming, and the staff are lovely. The attention to detail that the new landlords have put into everything shines through. Well worth a visit

Having been for a drink a couple times in the fantastic bar area we decided to take friends there for dinner and had a lovely evening, from the very friendly and smiling staff to the high quality of the food at a very reasonable prices, well worth a visit. ( try the seafood Chowder)

Sunday lunch for 4 with 2 well behaved dogs. Seated at a spacious table adjacent to the bar with plenty of room for the dogs. One of the group required a GF meal which wasn't a problem. Great quality food washed down with local Palmer's beer. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Only negative was the portion size which was definitely on the small side

We came here on the recommendation of the landlord of the World's End pub which is just down the road as they couldn't fit us in. How glad we were when we came here. Lovely pub and the food was just amazing. We will definitely be coming back here in the very near future.

Had a lovely meal here, food was fresh and tasty but could of been hotter, this didn't spoil the meal though. Service was excellent. Hope to visit again if back in the area.

Sunday roast was good value. Friendly and helpful staff delivered a tasty well presented meal at a reasonable price. Quantity was just about right; not too overwhelming but not small. Booking is recommended.

Party of 5, mix of starters followed by steak for everyone (some rump, some fillet) not all cooked the same, we varied from medium rare to well done, but everyone more than happy with their steak. Only 1 person managed pudding and loved his large portion of apple cake. Our spend was quite high as we also drank quite a lot of beer & wine, but it was worth the money. Great food, service, atmosphere. Friendly pub, lovely and clean. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic local pub with friendly and accommodating staff. The food was beautiful and generous portions. The pub is decorated to a very high standard and has a homely and welcoming atmosphere. We came for an evening meal but I'd asssume lunch time food and service would be just as good! This is definitely going to become our local... can't wait to try the Sunday roast!

What a fantastic place! We were here on Friday (9th August, 4 of us) and had the best the best meal we've had in a long time! We had starters of holumi, ham hock and mixed olives which were all beautifully presented and flavoursome. Our mains were, Burgers for 3 of us and the fish and chips. The burgers were succulent and delicious and my husbands fish was in a gorgeous light, crispy batter with fat chips, peas and mini onions which he demolished in minutes 😋 The service was perfect and we finished off our evening, sitting outside with our drinks under the trees lite with fairy lights. A perfect ending to a lovely evening 😊 I would highly recommend you go for a meal here but book ahead as they are very popular and with good reason!! We will definitely be back again xx

Looks nice, we arrived just before 8, it said online that they served food until 9. It was a complete lie and they wasted a lot of our time. We went out of our way to eat there. It is not hard to change open/close times on google maps. Even outside the pub it said dinner until 9 and they couldn’t even be bothered to change the sign. It’s really not that hard is it?

Had a fantastic lunch. Spotless, warm welcome to a gem of a location. An imaginative menu cooked to perfection by a talented Chef and staff. Worth a look now it has reopened. The new owners have really created a wonderful experience.

Visited 31/08/23 and very disappointed it seems to have closed, such a shame food and service were excellent on all visits we ever made.

What can i say ive coming here at least15 years possibly more only ever had curtious service first class fresh food .Whatever takes your fancy from the menue be assured it will be first rate Beers and wines as well . Lovely pub out in Morden, owned by a sweet friendly couple. Lots of locally made gin with plenty of flavours to choose from. Ordered fish and chips, the food was delicious, best fish I've had in ages, good quality and meaty, big portions too! Stunning views sat out in the back garden. There were a few pheasants flying around in the field which was a pleasure to see! Gutted I didn't take pics of the food but will next time. Will definitely visit again :)

Really friendly landlord. We had drinks in the garden with the kids and the dog. Inexpensive drinks and crisps compared to some places. Garden could do with a bit of a tidy up but as it’s not really garden weather yet it may be on their radar to do before the late Spring and Summer visitors start arriving. Would definitely visit again. Inside the pub looked really lovely and cozy and the food I saw when inside looked lovely.

Made to feel like myself and my family as a nuisance as we where put in the very tired bar area as we had my dog Services certainly wasn't with a smile alot of tutting when ordering drinks and paying I would understand if it was a busy Friday night however it was just us and a small table in the restaurant Chipped glasses drity glasses We never returned

Took my mum here for Mother's Day but it was rather disappointing. My veg was undercooked and my mum's lamb was very fatty & chewy. The team were very apologetic and did offer desserts without a charge and that was much appreciated - especially as they were delicious, rescuing the day.

Visited this pub for the first time and I cannot believe we had not been sooner. The building itself is lovely and felt very cosy. The staff were so welcoming and the food was incredible. Several of us had the steak and all felt it was the best steak we had ever had, quite literally it was cooked to perfection. We will be returning again and again!

This pub truly is wonderful, quaint, cosy and traditional and in the countryside with easy driving access. The staff are the same faces and always there to take care of you. It means a lot to see the same staff, which tells me they are well looked after and they also made me feel well looked after on every visit. The food is spectacular, I can still taste it now! The chicken curry was really good and my partner had the steak pie with dauphinoise which was out of this world! I highly recommend this pub to anyone. Thank you once again for a great dining experience and I cannot wait to visit again when I am next in Dorset :)

Had an excellent birthday meal here. The Steak and Kidney suet pudding was good size and very tasty. It was served with nice veggies and a good rich gravy. I will be going back for more.

Nice atmosphere on arrival, went on Sunday 29th January for my 60th Birthday Treat, With my wife, 2 young Children and small dog, however food not very hot and staff in my view not overly friendly, did explain prior to booking both my children were Autistic

Absolutely delicious food. Our second visit and the different choices of dish were just as excellent this time. Our guests are very used to eating out and were very impressed. Big choice and carefully cooked and presented, quite generous helpings. We all liked the fact that there was no musaz and we could hear our conversations, concentrate on each other and our meal. The service was excellent. Having to be careful of gluten and a few other ingredients, I was so grateful to have such huge care and attention taken over my food. I rang beforehand and I know about 80% of the dishes can be made Gluten free. My husband has already decided what he would like to order next time! I thoroughly recommend.

Nice little pub in the middle of nowhere. Barman was very friendly with lots of food choices on the menu. Service was quick with decent food portions. Place was a little dated but that might add to its charm. They also have their own gin and rum available for purchase

Had a lovely family meal here recently 5 adults and 2 children. All meals were different but everybody enjoyed theirs immensely. The presentation of the meal and taste and quality of the food was excellent. All at a very reasonable price. Will definitely come back again.

We booked for 5 at the last minute. Had 5 different meals and they came out together as they should and were all hot. Each meal was really good food as well

Called just after 18:00 hrs last Saturday hoping for some supper. Paul the landlord apologised and said he was fully booked. We must have looked a bit sad as he then said if we could order immediately he could find us a table. We agreed and so he did! Good beer at a fair price and an excellent meal taken in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Well done all round, customer service as it should be. Michael & Janet

Best pub food that I have had in a long time, coupled with friendly service

We had a delicious lunch after a 2 hour walk....so very grateful. We were advised there was a wait but it wasn't longer than advised.

One star for that poor waitress and the way she looked after us - she was nice but food was inedible! Grey massacred veg I had to ask what one item was as it didn’t resemble anything I recognised! We did get a full refund but have to say still too dollar for probably the worst meal I’ve ever tasted!! We didn’t complain, the waitress knew straight away ! She refunded all and the bin got a meal!! Hubby ate his but it made him ill! Told him to leave it!

I had the pleasure of having dinner with friends here last Friday. The service was terrific and the food exceptional. It will be on my lost of favourite places to east; and it's a short list! A proper old school pub with an offering that would put many of its peers to shame.

We came across this place by chance and it turned out to be a superb place for a meal. A very good range of food that was freshly prepared and included an excellent service. I hope this is deservedly a popular place

A very nice well cooked meal can be had here at the restaurant in a charming country pub. You have to order in advance which saves time at restaurant. The food is well cooked and very tasty. Lunch and dinner are available and there is a good selection of options on the menu including vegetarian dishes. I would go there again.

My mother and father in law took my daughter for a light lunch today as heard this pub had a good reputation for food .the lunch menu was v limited there were no sandwiches or wraps available so they ordered 4 starters basically all pre prepared frozen food which was just deep fried .poor quality ,v overpriced, not homemade or fresh v disappointing
