Coburg Bar in City of London, Westminster

The waiters and bartenders were extremely rude. Very blunt and short with their responses. Takes away from the lovely atmosphere the bar has. Would not recommend this bar at the connaught.

A favourite bar at the Connaught - quieter than the Connaught Bar, with a cocktail trolley which provides a bit of entertainment. Very good service and attention, if the place is full, make it known to the team that you are looking for a table so you are added to the waiting list which moves pretty quickly. Staff always attentive to ensure you have what you need, and when we sat down, enjoyed nibbles and champagne with flutes always topped up and inquiries done discreetly allowing us to enjoy the time there. Easily a regular stop for us when we want a nice drink before [or after] a fine evening.

Lacking the finesse of the Connaught Bar, but still a wonderful bar with a warm, romantic atmosphere and great cocktails. Extremely busy at the weekends but similar to the Connaught Bar they operate on a non-reservation basis. Prices are as you would expect from one of the best hotels in Mayfair.

Every time we stay at The Connaught, we've the first lunch at the Coburg bar. Great bar food, good service - we were never disappointed.

The service was simply fabulous, the perfect balance between being attentive but not over bearing. The bar itself had a nice, buzzy atmosphere without being too crazy. Our experience was in keeping with the wonderful experiences we have had in the other bars and restaurants at the Connaught.

A great place to go for a relaxing drink. Plenty of choice , great setting, plus excellent service. Highly recommend.

Wines Before the Spa We were back in London in December, and finally on a total leisure trip - just my wife and me. Though we were not staying at The Connaught on this visit, we had booked the Connaught Spa for some treatments, and had gone to church, just steps away. We still had time before our spa appointment, so we stopped into one of our favorite bars in all of London - The Coburg Bar, in the lobby of the hotel. The Coburg Bar has three sections, in its smallish space. First, there is the lovely, and historic bar, with seating, then a very comfortable seating area, just beyond, which reminds me of a livingroom. Finally, there is a little conservatory area, which is linear, and looks out to the entrance drive and fountain, in front of The Connaught. On this morning, we were seated at a nice little two-top, near the decorative fireplace, which was resplendent with Holiday decorations. These were new, from our visit (on business) in November. As with everything related to The Connaught, the Coburg Bar’s decorations were understated, though quite attractive. For whatever reason, they appeared Dickensian to us - harkening back to another era - just lovely. We did not have a great deal of time, though we did not have far to go, and though I had the wine list in-hand, I pretty much had it memorized from previous recent visits. I went straight to the Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Côte de Beaune white Burgundy ‘17, and the Famille Perrin Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape ‘16, from the B-T-G selections. Our server had them onto our table in moments, and we sat back to enjoy our wines, before the spa treatment (likely with a glass of Champagne, if as before). The stemware, even for the B-T-G selections is lovely crystal, and varietally specific - different for the big Burg, and for the Rhône red. With the luxurious surroundings, the stellar, friendly service, the quiet ambiance - and a great wine list, the Coburg Bar is just one of our favorite places in London. Over the years, we have come here for business meetings, and just as a couple. The seating in the “livingroom” area has several different seating arrangements, and all are spaced far enough apart, that it’s possible to discuss business, without having strangers listening over your shoulder. We will, as always, be returning.

We had pre-dinner drinks here whilst staying at the hotel. We also ordered some bar snacks which were very good. The service was excellent and it was lovely to sit in the front of the bar by the conservatory style windows watching the world go by at the front of the hotel (mainly involved a lot of moving around of very expensive cars!). We had a coffee in the main bar area late in the evening in comfortable armchairs, and it felt intimate and relaxing. Will definitely make a point of using the bar again when in the area, even if not staying at the hotel.

Lovely As Ever For years, I had been mistaken. I had been confused on what I thought was The Connaught Bar, but discovered that that bar, was around the corner, past the lobby, and sort of hidden away. The bar, that I had always referred to as The Connaught Bar, was in fact, The Coburg Bar. In September, we were staying at The Connaught for the first time, though we had visited the property to dine, and to have wines at the Coburg Bar. We had arrived from Bath early, and our room was not yet ready, so we retired to the Coburg Bar, at the front of the hotel. We sat at a little table, close to the bar, in the interior room, and I had the wine list in hand - pouring over their excellent B-T-G selections. Though the list is not all that long, it IS very interesting, and I can always find some hidden gems, and especially with their newish Coravin selections - not inexpensive, but a great way to have wines by-the-glass, that one would never otherwise see. We Started with the Bachelet-Monnot Puligny-Montrachet ‘17 and the Famille Perrin Château de Beaucastel Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape ‘16. Next, we did the Domaine Thénard Montrachet Grand Cru Côte de Beaune ‘14 for my wife, while I moved to red, with the Jasper Hill “Georgia’s Paddock” Heathcote, Victoria Shiraz ‘14. Then, as our room was still not ready, I got a glass of the Château Palmer 3éme Grand Cru Classé Medoc Bordeaux - as a treat to be shared between us. Oddly, the Coravin had an issue, and the cork was damaged. The Sommelier retrieved it, and took it to Jean-Georges next door. Little did I know at the time, that we would soon see it again with dinner that evening. About this time, our butler came to tell us that the room was ready, and how to contact him, when we had finished with our wines. During the entire afternoon, service was excellent, and as always, the venue was lovely. The stemware was very good, and appropriate to the wines being served. Just a wonderful afternoon, and great way to wile away the time, until we could get into our room.

We have been a few times. We go there when we are on London sightseeing or having lunch to enjoy a glass of Champagne. Great service and decently priced Do go when you visit London

Dropped into this bar for a cocktail and although we were shown to a table quickly we were then left to our own devices. We perused the menu, chatting about all the different cocktails and then we waited, and waited, we signalled to a waiter but I guess we became invisible. After about 15 minutes we got up and left.

Popped in with a friend for some celebratory champagne prior to a later, nearby dinner. Menu choice was fantastic, and although they didn't have the bottle i requested, they happily provided another, earlier vintage (and it was fabulous!)

Possibly! Of course Duke’s and Claridge’s can compete on a similar footing with their ultra cold, ultra strong martinis... and yet... the German barman is a virtuoso who mixes things with great imagination and always knows how to recommend the right liquor. The vibe is friendly with smiley staff and a lovely combination street light and dark, traditional interiors.

Second time we visit this lovely bar before lunch at the hotel! Very good service. Huge lists of drinks, whisky from all over the world etc. Take your time and relax in cosy chairs. Next time for lunch we will be back!
