1st visit since the refurbishment and really disappointed as this was our breakfast spot on a Sunday after a long lie.. sadly now you can only order breakfast until 12.. so we will need to find a new late brekkie joint.. Didn't realise this was here for a long time but so glad we found it. Lovely food, dog friendly and indoor and outdoor tables. You even get a bowl for the dog to have food. We order them a few sausages so they aren't left out

Very nice place to sit and enjoy a nice lunch or breakfast. The staff are very nice and all the food is made to a high standard. Good for kids but equally good without. It has a large menu which is full of tasty dishes!

Nice place for a coffee or tea and something to eat

Thursday morning - 26th September 2024 Awful, hard microwaved sausage and yesterday’s rolls. As a family we have always went here but this is the third bad experience unfortunately so we won’t be back.

Too Noisy, the person that served me was not too happy looking either ,asked her to wipe the dirty table,she never answered,came and wiped it,but,never spoke..

We had ham and cheese paninis - absolutely delicious.

Had a fab lunch here at the weekend after a walk up the Pentlands with friends. First time I’ve been able to sit in the outside space, really nice. Toilets very clean, friendly staff, delicious goats cheese salad!

Was overcharged at the till and not refunded. Tables sticky (not properly cleaned). The place had the feeling of not bothering to clean properly between customers.

Had this place recommended to me from a few people. The breakfast was absolutely superb. I would highly recommend giving it a visit. The full breakfast is one of the best I've had In Edinburgh. High-quality ingredients. Reasonable price. Coffee was really nice. Outdoor seating. No complaints what so ever.

Kitchen open to 3:30 on a Saturday although the cafe itself is open to 5. Lovely venue with great views of the Pentlands. Free parking. Not very accessible as up a flight of stairs. Food looks promising, although as others have commented, the baking feels a bit dry. Venue has a bit of a swimming pool acoustic to it and is a bit noisy even when mostly empty so maybe not so suitable for some autistic people. Good coffee! The counter area is too dark and I had to use my phone light to clearly read the labelling.

Great place for wee break, whether it be breakfast, lunch or a coffee after an excursion up the Pentland hills, which are a stone throw away. Lunch was great: had fish and chips and everything was delicious and spot on: no soggy bits, no excessive batter....just great. My son had a double burger and, needless to say, he gobbled it down without saying a word. Chips were amazing for both of us. Smoothie was huge and fruity.

Really impressed with the food offerings. I had only ever visited for cakes but recently went for lunch and thought the menu offered a great selection of interesting and varied choices. Tasty and filling.

Visited for sunday brunch, despite being busy and not booking, we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. The food came so quickly, and was absolutely delicious. All the staff members were working so hard and were all really friendly. We had such a great time and felt it was real value for money (£6 for 3 scrambled eggs on toast!). Thanks Cobbs team!

We went here for dinner tonight and it was lovely. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff member serving us was so attentive. We were sad to hear that they will be closing at night for a while but we will definitely be back again for dinner when it re-opens again. It was also great that you could bring your own wine!

Slow service, the couple that arrived after us somehow managed to get a full breakfast served before our french toast. Food portions on the smaller side,

Went in for the first time today to give it a try, took a seat and was told the food wait was 30 min plus, I said it was just coffee we were in for and the waitress left, I looked through the menu with my wife and waited for about 10-15 min when I asked if I could order coffee I was then told to order at the till, just wish when we arrived we were advised to do this as nowhere I could see told us this. We got up and left as had waited 15 min , bit disappointed with the first visit as expected a bit better service or told how things worked when we arrived.

I'm a bus driver, and the bus terminal is right outside Cobbs. The staff are fantastic. I often buy a takeaway coffee, but more often, I just use the toilet. It's so nice to get a warm welcome and smile even if I'm just using the toilet . Thank you.

Woefully understaffed that they couldn't clear tables enough to keep up with demand. Terribly unsupported member of staff as the only person working the floor of a full cafe.

Excellent quality food, all tasted like homemade. Prices very reasonable. Pleasant and timely service. Conveniently just off the bypass. Gets very busy at lunchtimes due to popularity. Overall, very happy to recommend.

Lovely roll and amazing view of pentland hills

This is not the first time that when ordering the full breakfast the haggis, black pudding, fried egg and bacon are all burnt. The issue was raised and the items were sent back only to be returned soggy (haggis black pudding) it seems they just added loads of oil to soften them. The picture attached shows the crusts top and bottom.

Great location at the foot of the Pentlands, good selection of food, good atmosphere & staff are really friendly. Service was fast even with lots of people.

Gluten free main meals and cakes available. Views to the pentlands. Outdoor seating area with some shelter from the wind. Dog-friendly. Good food choice, medium to higher price for a 'café' but the plates are full and food is good.

A very nice brunch, the service and food were both excellent and can't be faulted. French toast with bacon and blueberries is absolutely delicious! Definitely recommended, with the bonus that if you need milk or mountain equipment, there is a mountain shop and a Sainsbury's in the same building.

£4.75 for a roll and sausage really justify this price please absolutely shocking

Pricey, disappointed on last 2 visits with quality of home baking where complaining isn’t very well received.

Recently found this place while looking for a winter jacket in the basement store. Been twice now with my father and had a great time both times. Visited with my father this morning and could tell the staff were rushed off their feet; despite this they did fantastically well to cope under pressure and the food and drinks came out with only a little extra wait. Kudo's to all involved.

New layout works well. Food continues to be local and very tasty!

Much changed since our last visit. The ground floor is now a supermarket and the outdoor clothes shop now shares the basement with non-related business.

Highly recommend to pop in. Food was lovely, superb coffee and baking. Lovely friendly service. There is also a lift to the cafe so very accessible

This is my absolute favourite place to eat every time I visit Edinburgh. However, today was a disappointment made worse but how good it usually is to eat here. The poor staff struggled to get food to us after a 45 minute wait and some parts of my breakfast were cold and therefore not as enjoyable. The staff apologised for the wait, but beans and toast were cold and the eggs not cooked to the normal delicious standards, I expect from Cobb's.

EDIT: Very good actually! The manager reached out to follow up on the issue I initially reported, so I decided to give it a second chance. I’m glad to say the coffee was very good this time. I ordered again an oat cappuccino - it was tasty and had the right proportion of coffee! I also tried a pistachio and cranberry slice that was delicious - all the cakes look amazing. The waiting time was a bit long again, but at least the quality was good. It’s also very good they check on clients and are open to improvement. Now I can recommend it. Thanks, Alex! (Two weeks earlier) I had the worst and most expensive coffee ever. I ordered an oat cappuccino to take away and it was basically just oat milk. £4.30 for that!!!

An hour before we got out food, over half an hour before we got our drinks. The waitress accidentally dropped cups at the table next to us splashing me in liquid. Shame as the food was good.

Poor service i e. clumsy/ unprofessional service and poor preparation and presentation of some their cooked menu options. I've only been in twice and that's enough.

Excellent service and excellent food worth a visit

Friendly staff mustn't work a Thursday. Tables sticky, chairs had a lot of food debris on them slow service and you get half your coffee served in your saucer. Don't ask for sugar as it's brought to you then counted out and taken away..... Think I'll purchase a flask downstairs for coffee next time.

Great location , a bit of hit and miss place , coffee can be amazing but often the cakes are really poor ! The cobbs own tray cakes and tray bakes can be very dry !! They are not great at taking them off , you have to be lucky to get the fresh slice ! The cooked breakfast look amazing and very well portioned !! Worth a shot !! Still great location just outskirts of Edinburgh!

Wait time for breakfast 40 mins ridiculous! charged £34 for very small portions for 2 adults! Wouldn’t recommend go to franki and bennys same breakfast £22 with half the wait.. Only plus is good range for celiacs…..

Great wee cafe above a sports shop. Dog friendly with a great menu. this is a place not to miss. Easy access to City Bypass and with plenty parking spaces you can get here easily for a treat for both you and your dog. Don't miss it.

A brilliant #dogfriendly cafe on the outskirts of Edinburgh. They have superb coffee and cakes however the service is a little slow and some lunch options aren't great (small portions and not cooked or presented well) Go for the cake and coffee! They staff are lovely though

Fantastic breakfast and great service.

Went here after a long walk up in the Pentlands and it was very busy. Coffee was really good but the full breakfast I had was poor, bacon was overcooked, eggs were poached and done badly, sausage again not the best. I thought for the cost it would have been better. Staff were good and friendly though and the coffee was good, breakfast was not the good.

All 3 of our breakfasts came out cold and my poached egg was very undercooked. Considering the price point here I expect a lot better

Cobbs Bakery @ Craigdon Store (by the Edinburgh bypass) has good views of the Pentlands. It also has a vg selection of eats & drinks - GF & vegan too - at reasonable prices. The service is friendly but veeery slooow. Don't expect a quick stop!

Nice brunch and coffee at a busy little cafe with a nice buzz to it. Dog and children friendly with plenty of both when I visited. French toast could have done with a little more attention but the bacon was crispy, which is what I always request but rarely receive, so thumbs up for that! Based in the fab Craigdon Outdoor shop, which is well worth a visit. Glad to say that latest visit everything was perfect with the French toast, blackberries, strawberries and crispy bacon awesome

The food is genuinely nice and the view is great, the continued waiting to be seated is strange. You have to order from the counter yourself so it seems to make no sense. The people that greet you could be friendlier. As much as the sign says wait to be seated, "table 13" + [points]

Located inside Craigdon Mountain sports shop, this cafe is a bit of a hidden gem. Freshly cooked food and a lovely cake selection. Prices are a little bit more expensive than some cafes but the standard of food is excellent with an interesting menu. Staff are very helpful and friendly and very clean toilets
