Coach & Horses in Leeds

Visited yesterday for mother’s day and unfortunately was very underwhelmed . The service from staff was friendly enough and the entertainment they had on was great but everything outside of that was very poor. We waited around 2hrs for our main and only meal which even for an occasion such as Mother’s day is not justifiable. The main meal (beef roast) itself was frankly inedible, everything all quite clearly microwave grub and at the price of £15 a dinner it was just really disappointing . To add to this, they then offer ‘extras’ which consisted of stuffing, cauliflower cheese and even GRAVY? All of which i would expect to see included for that price. Also i have no idea what that last one’s all about, especially when the dinner came out very dry so you were basically forced into paying for extras. To top it off, a Black forest gateaux that was ordered for dessert was just a slice of chocolate cake with some icing on top. To summarise it was just low quality food at restaurant level prices and in my opinion although the atmosphere was great, there is better places to visit for a Sunday roast/dinner for the money. To clarify we did obviously only order what was on the Sunday roast menu, any other dishes they serve may be better.

Only had drinks, but nice Saturday afternoon sat with family.

There for NYE, landlord was very welcoming, DJ was awful, sound quality terrible & no build up at all when approaching midnight, feedback on mic when he did speak meant you couldn't understand a word he said.

Comida fría, la carne era muy masticable. Ofrecí un poco más de carne, pero no quería más carne masticable. El lugar estaba frío. No sé lo que ha pasado normalmente un gran asado dominical. No tanta gente como de costumbre. Qué pena.

We had a table for six with two dogs and had drinks and food. The open fire was on Good atmosphere It was clean and today Happy and welcoming team Food was Lovely. All plates cooked well and all hot and all really enjoyed. A lovely way to spend a cold and wet weekend afternoon.

Lovely staff, great selection of food and the overall service and family friendly atmosphere was of a very high standard. Highly recommend to all

Este pub siempre está ocupado y tiene un buen ambiente. Tienen Sky Sports, comida y fuego abierto. Adecuado para todas las edades. Visité con un amigo para el almuerzo del domingo, el personal es muy amable y la cena del domingo sabía bien, sin embargo, algunas áreas que se podían mejorar, el servicio era muy lento... . la cena tomó siglos y salió fría. El cerdo estaba bien servido con cracking que no era muy cracking. Los budines de Yorkshire parecen haber estado fuera un tiempo. Patatas gordas de pato muy agradable. En general le daría a este lugar un 3 sobre 5 en este momento, pero volveré de nuevo en algún momento para intentarlo de nuevo, ver si ha habido una mejora.

Lovely pub with great homemade food and nice choices of beers

Muy decepcionado con la comida. Pedí pastel de cottage con verduras de raíz. Aunque el plato estaba caliente, el puré de papas encima de la carne estaba frío y la carne no estaba mucho más caliente. En cuanto a las verduras de raíz era una zanahoria de aspecto muy flácido cortada en 4 tiras largas sin pelar y de nuevo estaba fría. No hay otras verduras. Lo envié de vuelta para el calentamiento volvió que no era mucho más cálido. No pregunté sobre desiertos. Ciertamente no volvería por comida

Had Sunday lunch today was outstanding. No waiting around, everything came out Hot and tasty. Can't wait to visit again!

Food only just warm, small portions and belly pork not crispy very disappointing, expected more from the reviews and other peoples comments, consistency is very important. The staff were great and the atmosphere in the pub was very good.

Came up with the family, lovely atmosphere, proper family pub vibes, the kids area was lovely! The food was spot on, had the chicken and chorizo and it was absolutely beautiful, family had some wings, chicken burger & mushroom stroganoff, all loved it!

Had a great Sunday dinner! Was really busy staff was so nice to us as we was a big party of 10. Best Yorkshires I have had in a very long time. Will be back to try the food midweek as i seen some chicken wings with my name on!!

Not the greatest. Food was Luke warm, beef was chewy and the service was slow

They don't look after kids playground at all. Swings are broken for ages and so dirty. Sharp wood on the top of slide.Such a shame for kids. We would go back if this was fixed. Also we all wanted some chips but they said they don't cook, which was disappointing.

Can't give less than 1 star, but this place was dreadful. They advertise home cooked food but only serve Sat's, sun and 1 Thurs a month. Took booking for tonight though. This place gives Yorkshire a bad name. Avoid at all costs

Primero visitamos con la familia, 2 parejas, una visita desde Birmingham. En realidad estábamos mortificados en el servicio y la comida que recibimos ya que era diabólico y todo lo que estaba disponible para nuestro vegetariano eran patatas fritas. La comida no era lo que hemos visto que se anuncia, y habíamos venido delirando sobre el lugar debido a las críticas anteriores. Hacía hamburguesa de cerdo y acompañaba solo hacía cerdo en un bollo. Cuando nos preguntaron por las cebollas rojas, pepinillo, etc., nos dijeron que no había ninguno disponible, así que se ofrecieron jalapeños. Nada de pan de ajo con lasaña y esto fue después de esperar más de hora y media. Me puse en contacto con el gerente / propietario y ella se disculpó y nos ofreció volver a la casa así que lo hicimos. Esta vez cenamos el domingo. La carne de res de 10 horas era masticable y como el cuero. El pudín de Yorkshire estaba tan quemado que era amargo. Las patatas asadas estaban demasiado cocidas y la zanahoria estaba poco cocida. Recogí el puré con el tenedor para dárselo a mi marido y todo surgió en una pequeña losa. Lo siento, pero esto no era puré fresco o comida fresca. Después de preguntar qué pastel, nos encontramos con 'erm, no estoy seguro, me he olvidado. Había una señal de que se había movido y no puedo verlo. Después de un minuto de silencio donde me quedé boquiabierta, ella dijo: "¿Quiere que vaya a comprobar qué es?". Nunca he conocido un servicio como este. Nos ofrecieron postres o la cuenta. Dije que no tenemos un proyecto de ley y por suerte tuve mensajes para probarlo. Le hemos dado 2 oportunidades ahora y ha sido igual de mal servicio y comida cada vez, así que categóricamente no volveremos.

Lovely local pub the staff can't do enough. Food is delicious and the outside play area is perfect for sunny afternoons.

Service I thought was a little odd, you wait at the bar to be told the waitress is taking food orders so have to wait for the poor young girl to finish serving tables food ordered and delivering sauces before you can order food. Still she was polite and pleasant. We ordered our food, which took over an hour to come. The kids meals were great good portion sizes and both kids 5 and 8 cleared their plates. The adults fish and chips was the same size as the child’s portion only twice the price, it was nice but left hungry. The chilli was bland and tasted like nothing but pepper and was a tiny portion half what you would expect an adults portion to be, we asked for chips instead of rice which came drowning in oil and flakes of fish all over we asked for them to be changed, they were returned after the fish on the surface had been picked off we sent them back again after tipping the on the plate unveiling the fish they had missed and asked for a fresh portion the same chips were returned cold within a couple of minutes. We had to ask for our bread and butter that came with the fish and chips although by this point the fish and chips had been about eaten. Beer garden great for family’s.

We visit the Coach and Horses regularly and always receive a warm welcome. We decided to head here for food one Saturday and made the right decision. The home made food is delicious and the service is great, nothing is too much trouble. Well definitely be back for both drinks and food. Added bonus is it’s very dog friendly!

Great food - lovely atmosphere & swift service. Would recommend and will return in the future for food again. My toddler loves the play garden and will be great when the bouncy castles are up

Never been before and live local. Went for a lovely walk up the greenway and then to coach for Sunday Roast. Best roast dinner in the area I’ve had by far, would definitely recommend booking as it’s very busy and recommend the belly pork it was to die for. Service excellent and all around it was lovely can’t fault it! Will definitely be back!

Food was amazing, proper home cooked pub grub. The service from the owner was amazing and would definitely visit again.

Went here after hearing from word of mouth how good the food was. We was greeted by a lovely friendly barmaid shown to our seats and had our orders taken. Had pie chips and peas was beautiful the chips was home made and so fluffy. We also had the chill and it was beautiful could taste all the flavours. Good portion size for money was not disappointed at all will 100 percent be definitely returning.

I ordered the beef dinner. The beef was very rare and hard to cut. One of the staff did offer to take the meat away and fry it some more.. I thought I was getting roast beef of a joint of meat. I refused this offer and left the meat. We order extra gravy for a £1.00 and a Yorkshire pudding at an extra £2.00 It says famous gravy , it was basic. We were offered a free drink but refused as we had to go. We was not offered a small discount for the meat. Disappointed

The staff were so warm & friendly even though it was busy as it was Easter Sunday . Food was beautiful. Will definitely be returning.

I went in Got ignored by staff had to wait ages to be served , the bar maid went to a regular ( she knew his name ) he pointed out I was first . Another man got served before me at the other side came up after me The staff on bar has one expression (young blonde And another dark hair young No smile at all , shocking Face and brains of a fish tbh After waiting a while for fish n chips £12 No bread n butter , erm on the menu .. fish n peas warm Chips not cooked warm not hot No offer of sauces Won’t be eating in there again Staff that work in hospitality should not work on a bar if they can’t smile Waitress put the cutlery down , said nothing . She could of said There’s your cutlery your food won’t be long , would you like any sauces ? Should of had tarter sauce on on plate Never again will I be visiting this pub at all I’ll go back to the Angel I work in hospitality Always smile how ever busy 🤔

Good value food, nice environment, well worth a visit

Well how disappointing was our visit last night . Booked a table for 7 (early mother's day treat ). Ordered drinks at bar told someone would take our order !! Came to take our order nearly everything we ordered they had run out of . This is not good enough when a table been booked , not even a drink to compensate, needless to say won't be visiting again !! My daughter lives in rothwell which would have made it a good place to meet !!!

Had a gorgeous Sunday dinner after a big walk. Ordered extra cauliflower cheese and it was gorgeous. We were running a bit late too but after a quick phone call they were very accommodating. Will defo be back 👍

First time my partner and I have eaten here, we drive past a lot as live in Rothwell. Food was disappointing, all over cooked and took a long time (there weren't many others eating). Camembert was solid to eat, Prawns were ok but had better. We were hoping mains would be better but overcooked chips, and the pasta was dry and no bacon. I have seen good reviews on Sunday lunch, but we unfortunately won't be going back.

Not impressed today as many tables were "reserved" but left empty for 3hours or more which left customers standing, there was a football match on TV so a fair few in but this reserved thing was annoying at best. We only stayed for drinks.

A hidden gem in Lofthouse. Home cooked food and plenty of it. Not many people in there which seemed very surprising. Highly recommend trying it.

Recommended by a friend but disappointed.. Plates cold, meat chewy, left most of it. Probably due to a larger party before us so we waited a long time. Staff were attentive though, thank you.

Food is great here. Had the festive menu chicken pie and chips with a real ale pint sat by the crackling fire. Perfect!

Lovely Sunday roast. We've been a few times now and have always enjoyed it. Even better when the fires are on! Would definitely recommend.

Really tasty home cooked main courses. Steak and Ale Pie, Rump Steak and child Macaroni Cheese. Reasonably priced too!

We visited on a Sunday for lunch. We were told there was a 40 minute wait on food after we ordered, which wasn't a problem. An hour later we were still waiting with no explanation. After asking the waitress we were told sorry it would be another 20 minutes. 30 minutes later, still no food, at which point the manager came to say that lots of tables had been booked at 3pm and basically the kitchen couldn't cope, but our meals were going to be next. Another 30 minutes passed still with no food or further explanation. You would think perhaps a round of drinks would have been offered or a discount on the bill, but no, nothing. We left over two hours after ordering. Extremely disappointing, with a lack of basic customer service.

Booked a table for 4pm and arrived on time, ordered within 5 minutes, when the food didn't arrive an hour later we asked a waitress and was told they were behind, there were no other tables actually eating food at this time so couldn't understand why, 5.30pm with no sign of food we left. Terrible!

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. Top notch Sunday roast. Beef cooked to perfection, lovely Yorkshires, smooth thick gravy. Lovely service. Couldn’t ask for better

First visit and definitely not the last. The food was really good, great value and fab service too. I’m very particular about roast dinners cos nothing ever matches my Mum’s but this was really good.

Very traditional pub lovely food and very friendly staff.

Enjoyed a tasty burger and pint of Guinness,staff could not have been more pleasent and helpful. Nothing too fancy, but this was reflected in the price. If I visit the area again wouldn't hesitate to drop in for food and drink. Plenty of free parking.

So just been as a group of 11 friends for Sunday Lunch,the food was lovely but the gravy was sparse so we asked for some more At £15 for a Sunday roast definitely not the cheapest but it was good food and the staff were lovely My only complaint was to be charged another £1 per extra gravy bowl seems unfair Come on £15 per person surely a bit of extra gravy shouldn't come at a cost I like

Didn't have food, the drinks election is good and the staff are very busy. Nice atmosphere outside in the sunshine.

Fran, Jordan, and the team have really pulled this place around, they are always thinking and adding more to the place as the weeks go by. Nothing is too much trouble for them. A great local pub.

A true traditional, homely old school pub! Exactly, what the hospitality industry is lacking a late. Friendly, accommodating and wonderful food and staff. Staff go above and beyond. X

Went there for lunch this week and very disappointed. Very old damp smelling pub, only 6 customers whilst we were there. They had run out of fish by 1.15pm. I had pie chips and peas. Pie was beautiful but small came with 6 beefy chips and a spoonful of peas. Another person had fish n chips, large portion of fish, loads of chips and peas came in a pot!!!!! Staff were very friendly though i won't be goin there again as left hungry.

We frequent this pub quite often so decided to book for Sunday Lunch. It was delicious, definitely in the top 5 Sunday lunches we've had in Leeds. High recommend.....but book as it gets very busy on a Sunday.

Just been for Sunday lunch for the first and last time. The service was shocking, one person serving at the bar, it took 15 minutes to get served. Food took 1 hour to arrive at our table and most of it was cold. One meal arrived minus a Yorkshire pudding (it was brought out when we told the server). We weren't going to say anything but the server kept asking if we enjoyed the food so we told here exactly what is said above. We were told by the manager/owner (I think) that the poor food/service etc was due to staff illness? Personally, staffing issues are not my concern and shouldn't be used as an excuse for poor service and no-one mentioned that during our visit other than the manager as we were leaving.

The decor is dated,the food can only be described as basic , with a restricted menu , the quality again basic , will certainly not be returning , sorry !

It was our first time to this pub with the wife, when we walked in we was immediately greeted with a lovely man welcoming us , we ordered steaks that was cooked to perfection (both different) beer was great and atmosphere was homely definitely recommend all staff were fantastic

This was our third time this month for Sunday Lunch which is outstanding… and I am a bit of a food snob. The service, presentation and quality of the food is A1 and in my opinion nothing in the area comes close. Advise to book as it has become popular and in a short space of time. It’s a place you could go by yourself and feel as though you know them without feeling awkward. Enjoy

Such a great atmosphere - very friendly staff and the food is amazing. Great outdoor space for little ones to play (bouncy castles are definitely enjoyed by the big kids too 😉). Would highly recommend a visit.

Best sunday dinners in al ong time definitely go again

Used the pub for a wake and everyone thought the place was really nice and a really great choice of venue. Food was excellent (particularly the chips). Food and drinks very well priced and the staff were so very welcoming and helpful, the chef even chatting through some vegan options with one of our group. You must visit this brilliant pub.

Have been for lunch several times since the new chef took over & have not been let down by the food once. Have tried something different each time & haven’t been disappointed

Nice place for a relaxing drink, and they keep a good selection. Can't comment on the food as not yet ate there, but the menu selection looks nice.

Went here for Father’s Day we was not disappointed the food here is by far one of the best in leeds EVER.

New owner has made the pub worth visiting again. Great beer & atmosphere. Looking forward to trying the food this father's day.

Came a while ago and it was absolutely shocking it was horrendous with the food either being too hard or soggy. Was looking for food yesterday and decided to give it a second chance. It was totally different it seemed a lot more lively as a pub and the food was perfect. Perfectly cooked -and the mash was nice and creamy with no lumps and the gravy was delicious. Whatever has changed keep it up.

Wow the food is delicious and I will definitely be going again especially for a Sunday dinner Shame I was driving because the pint I had was lovely cold and crisp
