Yesterday my family party of 11 to celebrate my dads brithday - it was very easy to call up and make the reservation - we all pre ordered the starters and mains to advance to help out in advance which also meant no faffing about by us at the table. From beginning to the end - the staff couldn't have been more attentive to helping to oversee a mixture of 10 year old up to 83 year old! We love coming to the coach and horses as its a proper cosy old traditional English pub and the food is always so well presented and tastes so lovely - and the staff really are so very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended and a fabulous lunch tyesterday by all

Lovely old fashioned pub feel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great big beer garden, which includes a covered area. Excellent quality breakfast. Easy to get to with plenty of parking. Modern clean room with plenty of sockets and USBs. Big TV. The bar has last orders at 2230, which is a little early, especially if you are a resident. The room was very hot. A floor standing fan was supplied, but this wasn't adequate, and window ventilation was poor. The shower hose was partially broken - it worked OK, but made the bathroom look shabby and could be fixed for a few quid. The bath itself was very narrow, and one had to be careful when moving away from the taps. The bed was very hard. Toiletries were on the small side, and the 1980s want the wall mounted hair dryer back! With that all said, I would stay there again!

This place is brilliant! We stayed 1 night with the family and we were very impressed. The staff are ever so friendly and efficient, and they treat you like a VIP guest. The hotel is very cosy- with an old fashioned style, very clean, spacious rooms, with all you need in them. The food at breakfast and dinner is homemade, cooked very quickly and it’s delicious! You don’t get the usual modern and commercial hotel atmosphere and this what makes this place standing out. 5 star totally deserved!

Last minute Saturday night dinner reservation for me and my 93 year old mum. All three staff on duty were fantastic with mum, opening doors, assisting her at the table, serving suitable portion sizes. Would recommend on that alone, but the food was superb and homemade. Lovely hot potato and leek soup with toasted crusty bread, beef chilli nachos with sour cream, guacamole, pepper salad, finished off with a divine apple crumble and custard. Mum had an OAP sized scampi and chips, just the right size. Couldn’t fault the experience. Well done!

We chose this pub with rooms for its proximity to a venue at Castle Goring a few minutes away by car.The 15 rooms are in a purpose built block behind the pub itself. The room was comfortable and clean with all amenities and facilities with a spacious bathroom. However at £160 per night with breakfast included although the mattress was reasonably comfortable the duvet was synthetic and heavy and the pillows of poor quality It is these details you make a judgment on the rating and thus four rather than five stars However the breakfast was excellent and included a vegetarian option

Haven’t been into this pub for many many years and was very much looking forward to trying it out for a family birthday lunch. Have to say it was disappointing. We had our 8 year old daughter with us and so asked for a children’s menu… the waiter told us there was no children’s menu so we could pick something from the side orders or anything from the main menu. So I replied ‘Great so she can have a children’s portion?’ The waiter then replies yes but you’ll be charged the full price of the meal!!! Never ever have I been to a pub or restaurant with no kids menu or children’s sized meals at full adult meal prices!!!! Unbelievable!!!!So unacceptable and unaccommodating. So we paid £16 for my daughter to have a chicken burger and chips which seemed like an inconvenience to the waiter when we asked for it to be plain and not include the spicy sauce etc. I was so shocked. I had a roast dinner (nut roast) which was pretty standard, in fact I’d go as far to say below average and over priced. Paxo stuffing balls and a nut roast that tasted like paxo with a few nutty extras. Not a great lasting impression and we won’t be returning. A real shame as this pub is just up the road from us.

When did it get so difficult to just walk to a pub for lunch on a whim, instead of needing to book in advance, and not be turned away? I'm astounded that pubs can afford to turn people away ,we were told they expecting lots of people in very shortly we wouldn't be able to get lunch. How do you know they all going to show up,? Also hardly anyone actually in there already, we could have ordered a simple sandwich and a drink would have taken less than 15 minutes. Bad service, almost couldn't be bothered by passers by.

We visited on a Thursday evening, for a birthday meal, & opted for their 3 course Christmas menu - on it's 1st day! .....and it was fantastic!! We all went old school on the starter & had a prawn cocktail. There were plenty of prawns, served on a bed of crisp fresh lettuce, with charred bread. Then 2 of us had traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, & 1 of us had beef bourguignon served with creamy mashed potato & green beans. The meat was tender & full of flavour, the turkey wasn't dry at all, there were plenty of vegetables, & extra gravy. Dessert was 2 x homemade chocolate orange cheesecake, & 1 homemade berry crumble with loads of custard! Finished off with tea/coffee & mince pies - which we had to take home as we were full up! At only £35pp, it's worth every penny.

First visit for a drink & bite to eat. Ordered the vegan sausage baguette When it arrived it looked like a ‘meat a meat sausage’ I took a tiny bite & felt sure it was. I asked the waitress was it vegan, bear in mind I had told her 3 times I was a vegan. Of course I didn’t eat it the waitress said if ordered the meat version !! But why would I !! I’m vegan !! I left the food the manager came out and instead of an apology he said if ordered the meat version! Again! Why would I ! I’m vegan!! No apology! I left the food and half a glass of wine and walked out!! The manager came rushing out, presumably because I didn’t pay fir my wine … and took s picture of me leaving in my car??!! Why?? I did nothing wrong!! Awful experience … customer care non existent!! I can only thank god I eat a teeny bit and wasn’t sick!! Not that they would care … horrendous

Visited to lunch and will be returning for dinner in the near future. Really friendly and quick service. Extensive menu with good old pub grub choices, including a ploughmans! Light snacks can double up as starters. I had the spring rolls with hoisin dip. I chose the cod and chips for main - very light and crispy batter, large portions. A decent glass of Malbec to wash it all down.

We decided to have lunch out and having driven past a few times we looked forward to trying it. We parked up and as it was a nice day thought we would have a table outside. However, we noticed every table available had a full dirty ashtray! As we walked into order we were asked if we wanted lunch (it was Friday) which we said yes, but was advised the kitsch was closed! The pub itself is lovely and welcoming, There was a huge choice of food on the menu with specials every day. I had no problem with the food or the service and found the staff delightful and chatty. Absolutely no problem with this place and would def stay again as it was delightful and accommodating. We had a meal here one mid-week evening whilst staying overnight in the Coach & Horses with some friends. The Coach and Horses is a public house and is easy to find located on the A27, we had driven here and there is plenty of (free) parking for patrons. The interior is quite welcoming being a mixture of old and new, stone floors, half bricked walls and wooden beams mixed with light coloured plastered walls and modern furniture. The bar area is quite contemporary and we could imagine visiting here if it were more local to where we are.We were seated at a table for four and our food and drinks order was taken there. Being on the post Covid 19 lock down phase, the tables were well spaced and all of the staff wore face masks. The menu is quite comprehensive, certainly there should be something to suit most appetites, I had the Thai green curry and my wife had the roast chicken. On the bar was a good choice of ales, I had the Hobgoblin Ruby and Doombar was also available. For dessert I had ice cream (three scoops of various flavours), and my wife a Latte coffee. The food was very good, and we all enjoyed our chosen meals, prices were about average for this type of restaurant and given the ambience of our surroundings we thought good value for money. We had two people serve us during the evening, who we assumed were the owners and they were both very friendly, attentive and helpful. Although the restaurant was about half full, we did not feel pressured when either making our menu choices nor when remaining at the table after our meal.A most enjoyable evening in nice surroundings with good friends and fine food and drink.

I booked a table for 2 for lunch. I initially asked for 1pm but they said they could fit us in at 12:30.On arrival only 1 other table had customers. Ordered drinks and asked for no lemon in my Mums drink and this was notedby waitress on the order. When arrived lemon was on the drink, I asked for bottled coke but received draught Pepsi. We were given a very large menu and both chose the roast pork. We waited quite a long time for it to arrive. The vegetables were not bad but the meat was so tough it was extremely difficult to cut and the Yorkshire pudding had seen butter days. I asked for some apple sauce and efter another wait I recited a tiny dish containing no more that a teaspoon! I had to ask for more. We did not eat much of the meal. The waitress came to take our plates and asked how the meal was. I said the meat was very tough and not enjoyable. She went away then came back and said we could have a fre pudding. We chose the ice cream as we thought it would be straight forward, quick and easy. We waited and waited and nearly gave up and considered leaving when after 20 minutes the ice cream arrived. This was a very disappointing visit as first time I have taken my mum out since lockdown. The pub only was not busy just 2 tables so why so long? What was the chef doing? Probably heating up frozen food.I cannot recommend this pub as a place to eat which is a shame as I like to go to independent non chain restaurants and pubs. The staff were plesent but very unproductive.

Managers in this place have zero customer service. Visited with friends an due to Covid it was table service only. 15 mins we was without a drink on a boiling hot day. Only a handful of people in the pub too. Yet the dopey manager was more interested in watering plants. However went up to the bar to order drinks. The young female served me and told me to stand by the opposite table. So I did. For then the manager to come screeching in going off his trolley due to me being served. This then caused an awful atmosphere for those who was eating and an embarrassment to me and my friends as we looked like criminals. The young girl ran of crying in the kitchen and he blamed us for her having a fit. When he was the one going mad. Not us. He then booted us out. Why? All because we was told to stand by a table and wait. Couldn’t get a world in edge ways with him. He’s an absolute physco that needs to seek professional help. Rude arrogant and unprofessional wet flannel. AVOID AT ALL COST. As they say... ‘You pay cheap, you get cheap’!!

We had to stay for a party and didn’t know the area , a lot of hotels on seafront had no private parking and you had to pay for permit to park on side of road. This is a couple of miles from seafront but so worth it . Pub is cosy and relaxing with log fire. Food is excellent and beautifully presented. Hotel accommodation is fairly new but superbly decorated and very clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for staff and easy to book Taxi for the evening into Worthing Itself . Will not hesitate to use again when next down, can highly recommend. Thank you Mark and staff for a great weekend

Lovely Sunday lunch, huge plate, quality food, and very attentive and friendly staff. We had slight reservations having read some of the previous reviews, but we were very impressed and will definitely be coming back.

Thank you to Emma and her team for brilliant service and incredible food on Xmas day. It was such a welcoming environment and compliments to the chef and his team on producing an outstanding 3 course meal. We are so pleased to have decided to eat out this year and come to you.

Great pub with an excellent hotel adjoining...all round good experience. We were in the area for a family celebration and chose to stay here because of previous reviews, proving the value of Trip Adviser.

First of all the hotel itself is nice, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and found the staff well mannered and the rooms to a nice clean standard. Could easily park my van in their ample car park, and easily found my way to my room and enjoyed a good sleep. However I feel I cannot give them full marks.

We ate here last night on a very wet evening's drive home from Brighton. It is a beautiful old traditional pub with a warm, friendly welcome. The food was delicious and the drinks were great. Lots of different rums and gins to try if you are a fan. My only criticism would be that the menu was quite burger based. That said I did find an alternative.

Stayed here for business, November 2019. Comfortable, quiet rooms, easy access into town, easy to find. Despite it being on the edge of a dual carriageway, the landlord knew all his regulars and the bar staff were superbly polite and engaging. Really nice place to stay.

Unfortunately I didn’t read the recent reviews about the Coach and Horses before booking a table for Sunday lunch. If I had I could have saved a lot of money and eaten elsewhere. We ordered roast chicken and seasonal veg for lunch but my husband and I were underwhelmed by how poor it really was. The chicken looked undercooked, while the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and dry, as were the vegetables which managed to be both dry and cold. We should have guessed something was up as there were two other tables that I could overhear having problems with their meals too. The waitress was very understanding and polite and was keen to receive feedback to help improve matters, but that will not induce us to return here any time soon. We were there a year ago and had a fantastic meal. I can only hope that the management/chef team take heed of the comments to improve what could be a great place, as it was in the past.

Having not been here for over a year and hearing that there were new managers we decided to see if the coach had returned to being a great place for Sunday lunch!

Restaurant menu is a bit limited, but the food we had was very pleasant. One of iur oarty said the steak was very good. Serving staff very pleasant and helpful, but a bit slow. All round pleasant evening, we would use the restaurant again.

Partner went to pub for a drink with his trusty hound, lunchtime on a quiet Tuesday, barman and manager ignored him and continued their conversation. Manager sat at table and partner realised he was wearing an invisibility cloak, the service at this so-called hostelry has sunk to a new low, sure to be closing down very soon. Partner and hound left sad and thirsty.

We have been here several times over the last month. The new management is fantastic and having managed a 250 capacity wedding venue myself I can’t fault a thing and trust me I look for fault ...

If the management read and responded to these reviews they might learn something and improve what could be a lovely place to eat.

Visited this pub today for Sunday lunch. 3 Sunday lunches and three lemonades, 50 quid! I don’t mind paying 50 quid for a good Sunday roast, but it was awful. We did wonder why it was so empty...... the Yorkshire’s were burnt, the veg was cold, parsnips were nearly raw, beef was Luke warm and rubbery, potatoes tasted like they were deep fried. Do not waste your money and eat here. You will be disappointed. Oh and the toilets stink.

Booked as a lady min hotel for work, my expectations based on price were mediocre, however on arrival I was amazed at just how nice the accommodation and pub was.

Popped in here for a brew and toilet stop after our holidays. Shocked. Absolutely shocked to be charged TEN POUNDS for two pots of PG tips tea. We queried that and the bossman re-iterated £10. Dunno why. It’s a scruffy, dirty pub, as my photos will show. Obviously if my toilet needs were less urgent I’d have walked away. Be warned.

Lovely clean place with helpful efficient manager. It’s a lovely place to visit with open fire in winter. It had a great outside space We had a good stay. The breakfast was basic though but good quality and well cooked. If you wanted extras like an extra egg, black pudding, mushrooms you had the pay an extra £1 PER item which I thought was a bit much. The mushroom portion was tiny. There was no yoghurts, fruit, croissants, cakes or porridge , just dispensers of basic cereal and just sliced white or brown bread. If that’s the brand standard of country inns they need to pull their socks up.

We went there for lunch, in the knowledge that it used to be pretty good a few years back. In fairness, the food was fine when it arrived, but the wait! We arrived to a near-empty pub, just behind a family of 5 and the only other people there were a couple of girls drinking at the bar.

We have been going to this Pub for nearly 50 years! Until recent years it was renowned for its a great selection of beers, excellent food and convivial atmosphere. It has survived recessions and quite a few ownership / management changes but since it has been part of a chain things have gone horribly wrong. Time was when you could call in for lunch, have a great meal and a decent pint. Try doing that now and half the menu is off and so too the choice of lager and beer, or the whole place was booked out for a Wake, or large party but no sign outside or on the door to say 'Sorry, closed for an event'.The staff are untrained and seem to regard the whole thing as a joke. In the evenings, unless you book, the travellers staying in the adjacent newly-built hotel book all the tables and there is no point in going in for a drink as it no longer has a pub atmosphere to enjoy, in fact, no atmosphere at all.

We came here yesterday for an early dinner and to be honest the service was really bad, we were left waiting to order drinks for about 20 minutes. And then both the members of staff seemed to completely forget or ignore us as we sat waiting patiently to order our food! (It wasn’t busy at that time either) eventually when we were asked what we’d like the guy serving us seemed like he didnt know what was going on let alone take our orders properly!

This is a decent country pub with good food and a nice hotel attached. But, it’s dying because the owners can’t be bothered. Inexperienced staff are being crushed by a complete lack of stock. Over half of the menu is off because of no stock of ingredients and over half of the pumps are off because of no beer. Fellow patrons are either angry or just plain laughing at the poor staff.

We visited for lunch today and sat outside...was a little disappointed that the lunch menu has been changed...went here for lunch a couple of months ago and they had a larger menu including sharing tapas that was excellent ..but apparently only do this now on the evening menu...there were 2 bar staff on duty very friendly and efficient considering it was quite busy....my husband had the ham egg chips which was lovely...I had the Cumberland sausages mash cabbage gravy and onion rings...cooked to perfection and very tasty...they are obviously a bit short staffed and with the nice weather abit more attention needed to the outside seating area is needed....tables dirty and the whole area needs a good sweep ! Rubbish on the floor etc....would definitely recommend the food though and very reasonably priced

Enjoyed a walk around the woodland with our dog. Popped in for a light snack lunch. Run by volunteers, a friendly community atmosphere, welcoming everyone including dogs. Simple menu with inviting cakes. Good coffee and proper pot of tea. Lovely outlook across the orchard and quiet.
