Clocktower in Norwich

We had a party of 9 of family and friends including a little dog for the Sunday carvery. The staff were very friendly and helpful and accommodated us in the bar even for a large party like ours. The food was delicious and plentiful and we had a great time in a very friendly pub with even the little dog making new friends. The exterior of the pub probably needs some work to make it even more welcoming but we had a great experience at a very good value.

Two adults had the carvery which was very good and the grandchildren ate free. Very good quality food and value. Will visit again

We went for the UV party. The entertainment was fantastic for the kids. That’s as far as the positives go. Firstly the kids chicken nuggets and chips was like warm. Ice cream was promised for dessert this turned out to be a frozen raspberry ripple mousse. The kids squash was not replenished. Once the party got underway we ordered two adult meals one fish and chips which both fish and the chips were hard and on the brink of being cold. We also had lasagne at no point did the dish resemble a lasagne it was more of a Cornish pasty filling topped with lots of cheese and a slice of tomato with one tiny spec of pasta within it. The only enjoyable food was the onion rings and the desert. This might be my local but the food served is unflavored slop.

Brilliant for the kids at the uv party. Shannon was our host and she was amazing with the children and always made sure we had what we needed. Thank you Shannon, we will be back!

Had a great experience, was served by jade she made us feel very welcome and was lovely in general, food was very nice and fresh

After waiting 35 minutes for one of our meals we asked if it was on the way and the staff were very rude , we would have understood if it was busy but it was very quiet . As for the carvery there were lots of flies about landing on the meat there was a very poor selection to choose from half of the food was either cold or it had gone stale as it had been sat there for a while . It was inedible . It was very dirty the menus were sticky and looked like they had never been wiped there was a broken peice of tile hanging off in the bathroom the bin was also broken and the radiator looked as though it was going rusty . Would not recommend .

Good quality food Wish they would sort out the IN door for the staff banging all the time we were there I did complain and was told "They had tried to sort it out" a piece of Sellotape could have solved the problem... so loud , even gave me a headache

Popped in for a Sunday roast around 5pm and I was pleasantly surprised with the selection of meat choices, there was plenty of veg too. I thought it was great and we are actually returning again today.

There was 12 of us half the table had carvery and the other half main meals, the main meals were ok, steak over cooked but edible, the carvery on the other hand was discusting, the food was cold, the gravy was cold, the vegetables were just warmed through frozen food, the roast potatoes half cooked and dripping in oil, the parsnips too dripping in oil, the stuffing undercooked and the mashed potato tasted like smash! After waiting ten minutes for the manager to come over he looked at the plates and said you have eaten too much for a refund ( a refund wasn’t requested) though did offer a refund for myself due to having not eaten anything, no apology nothing! If you want good food avoid this place! Usually good food but definitely gone down hill!

Best fish and chips, fast order, nice ambience and lovely waiter! Will definitely come back with my partner who recommended the place

Sunday lunch brilliant as always Decklan spoke to us and was very pleasant and informative, such a friendly guy, all always a good meal with a varied choice of vegetables. Well worth a visit.

Popped in for a carvery meal with my husband The restaurant was reasonably busy Meat choice was good -a bit dry on the top of the joints as they had obviously been under the lamps for awhile The turkey and pork were tasty It then went downhill -hard and black roast potatoes which were dry , dried and singed cabbage carrots and broccoli Mashed potato which was also dry Mashed swede and cauliflower cheese ok It was only just after 1 o’clock and the chef didn’t say she would fill up the vegetable dishes even though most of them were virtually empty So very disappointing -no one came to the table and I had to ask for cutlery which the lady said help yourself from one of the other tables We wouldn’t go again which is a shame as often go that way for ten pin bowling and to visit the Longwater shops

Went for a carvery like we’ve done several times before hadn’t been in a while was surprised how quiet it was then when I went to get my food I understood why the food was all dried out the Yorkshire biscuits couldn’t call the flat hard offering a pudding we had a waffle dessert that was also a mistake the waffles were rock hard my husband had to leave his. Very disgusting meal all round

Visited with family (a group of 7) and as it was Mothers day the place was packed, which is to be expected and no surprise. Most of our party had the carvery which was ok nothing special. Two of us (including me) had meals from the menu. The menu meals were very poor, small portions, missing items and expensive for what you get. Personally I wouldn't rush back there again, it was ok nothing special.

Went for the soft play for my 2 year old however as it is half term there were a lot of older children who were not being supervised and running wild on the play area. We left after less than an hour as my daughter didn't like how rough the older children were being. I stood for ages at the desk waiting to order a coffee, I then noticed there wasn't a coffee machine behind the counter and went out into the main area to order one. Turns out someone will take your order in the play area and then go to the main bar to get the drinks, leaving the desk unmanned. All in all it was chaos with loads more older children arriving as we left and seemingly no staff present in the room for most of the time.

What an absolutely diabolical time out. We ordered two carvery’s after hearing how ‘amazing’ they are, to be met with what I can only describe as the most sad, pitiful ‘variety’ of food. The yorkshires are so flat you can use them as flying saucers, the potatoes were completely rock hard. The veg was a sight for sore eyes, the cabbage itself looked about a week old. The sausages were so hard that even my partner who has a few fake teeth struggled to bite into one! I ordered a meat free carvery but the gravy was made with meat juices and had meat floating in it. Make that make sense. My partners pork was so dry I think you’d find more moisture in a desert. The stuffing which is usually a staple for any carvery, was just a story, cold mess. Honestly wasted nearly £22 to go home still absolutely starving and raging inside. All the staff were too busy chatting or pretending to be busy to even ask if we were ok. No one at the bar to discuss with before we left either and with a busy 2 year old, I didn’t have time to wait. Only a few other people in the restaurant area. What a waste of time!!

What a total ordeal. Never again. You can’t book on a Sunday due to “popularity” apparently. We arrived at 12:15 and got a table. The queue for the bar was long. But moved fairly quickly. Ordered our carvery and then proceeded to wait in a queue for 55 minutes to get our food. Finally got our carvery and sat back at our table where a waiter then dumped a huge tray of desserts on our table right bedside our plates while he served our neighbours their puddings. The whole place was just a free for all and so chaotic. What a shame as the carvery was actually decent. Just everything else was a shambles.

This establishment has gone downhill since my last visit. Carvery served by disinterested staff, scruffy piece of beef and vegetables lukewarm and not particularly tasty. Will need to improve considerably for me to go again.

The chef carving the meat had dirty hands and black under his nails. The other chef I saw was making a cup of tea and picking his nose, and wiping it on blue paper on the side. Neither had clean uniform on and it was barely midday. The place was also freezing. Staff were very young and messing around. A blonde lady in big black boots was charging about looking angry saying Jim was coming. Good luck Jim don’t have a carvery or cup of tea!

Well.. interesting place !! Very busy on Friday evening, got sent to a dirty table while waiting for it to be cleaned, there was some mash and peas and a what can be described as some sort of meat on the table, I think a vulture would've thought twice before swooping down to peck at this suspect slice of dirt. Upon walking up to the carvery deck I couldn't believe my eyes, the chef took the ticket and then proceeded to scratch and sniff before cutting the meat.. literally scrabbed at his undercarriage with an unforgiving look of discomfort on his face, chefs ar*e must be a thing.. This put myself off immediately, I was the only one having carvery so I went back to the table to tell the family, the pensioners behind me seemed to ignore warnings, so they had something extra tasty. We all left, mains was refunded and that was that. Please avoid unless you want a dirty dinner.

Shame the air conditioning is still not working..have been told for weeks its being fixed! Get it sorted..it spoils the experience and I feel sorry for the staff having to work in such conditions.

Staff need to learn basic manners. Shame as the food is has always been delicious. Shame about the customer service. Will go to the Copperbeach instead.

Only gave 1 star because leaving 0 wasn’t an option. Castle Carvery has steadily gone downhill since the family owned business was sold to the RedCat pub chain. The staff are loud and act like they are in a playground shouting across to one another while serving. Can’t comment on the food as immediately left when we saw the chef pick his nose ….. my stomach is still turning. That’s it, never ever will I visit a Castle Carvery brand restaurant again! Goodbye

So been here before and many time before hand but delivered my kids 4 , chicken wraps that u would even give a cat🤣 disgusting and gave us an ice cream slip between 4 kids bill was £80 for a family of 6 ! But tonight’s was the massive disgusting meal I’ve I ever had , so wedding anniversary today 13 years thought it would be nice and take kids to play and a lovely roast! Well chef scrapped and hid disgusting fat that had been left for hours and the meal was disgusting we scraped more fat , mashed potatoes disgusting! So we told them again but apparently because bearing in mind again 70 deep in the bill! That because we complained before? Some blond bit, fowel mouthed shouldn’t even be in that role trapped and said jog on basically, disgusting service promoting this all over Facebook x

Absolutely Amazing place to eat been multiple times and always had a pleasant visit. This time was served by ALANIS and she was amazing so polite kind and friendly felt very welcomed. Food was amazing will definitely be visiting again without a doubt.

The food was great the environment lovely but when I saw I paid £1 tip on one coke - that's just obsurd and I wasn't asked If I even wanted to pay a tip.

The food was really not what I remembered it was awful and I was sad to part with short of £13 for there example of a carvery, ourt to be embarrassed to serve such a poor example, I’m sure the directors and ceos would not seat to eat this, best off staying at home and doing it yourself, services was ok but the what you expect to get, also the grounds looked quite neglected and unloved, i will not be returning, my rare chance to go out for lunch turned in to a moan and grown of us all at the table and rightfully so!

Really nice. Having had to use another local carvery last week which was awful and we gave a 1 star review to (due to the Clocktower being closed) it was a relief to get a good,well cooked carvery with the choice of 4 meats plus lots of veggies. Staff polite and helpful which is always a plus but as stated the food was excellent, which is really what you go there for.

The carvery is fine if you want quick food. The quality of the beef is very poor. It is the cheapest joint of beef that you can eat. The veg is highly overcooked , but the yorshire puds made up for that

A good carvery with a full menu as well. Drinks are quite pricey. The only complaint the day we visited was Yorkshire puddings were very hard.

A very good example of get what you pay for. Come here occasionally for a carvery due to it being very close to me. Service is always good and staff always serve with a smile. Plenty of seating area and kid friendly. Carvery can be hit and miss and the meat can be awful sometimes but can’t complain. One thing I do really rate are the roast parsnips!! Can’t beat them!

Went for a carvery on Saturday afternoon, firstly the chef did not come to serve the meat for nearly 10 minutes, by which time the queue was up to 12 people. Meat itself was nice but the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and vegetables were not. They were flavourless. We paid £8.95 for something that tasted like a school dinner.

Having been invited to a 50th birthday meal with family and friends to the clocktower I was a bit apprehensive as have heard mixed reviews. However the staff were welcoming and friendly, we ordered drinks from the bar which were on the expensive side in my opinion. Having ordered our food from the menu as the carvery looked as if it had been there for a while, the meat looked dry , veg limp and enemic and the stuffing looked like grey wallpaper paste. When our food arrived it was disappointing in the fact that the steak was not cooked as instructed , the Cajun chicken Caesar salad was well overpriced with dry chicken and not much salad (lettuce), however the fish pie and steak and kidney pudding seemed to be ok. Overall won't be going back anytime soon as there are far better pub's and restaurants which offer much better quality and value which are close by.

Went for a Sunday carvery at 530. Busy but tables could be found. Good service for drinks and carvery vouchers. Tables clean and toilets too. Queue for carvery but moved quickly. Good portion of meat. Help yourself to yorkshires, veg etc. All hot and topped up regularly. A great tasting carvery.

Always like to go here for a carvery, it’s one of the best around. The tables are always clean and staff are attentive. The setting is great.

También hablando sobre sus salarios y cómo les gustaría más dinero. (No pude evitar escuchar que estaban parados en nuestras sombras) ! Vi a un padre joven cargando a su hijo alrededor de los 2 años de edad, posiblemente más joven, y dijo: "¿Perdóname (porque interrumpió su conversación)? ¿Podría tener una silla alta por favor? ¡A lo que una de las chicas dijo "sí allí por ahí" mientras lo miraba desde la esquina! ¡Lo dejaron para llevar a su hijo / hija en un brazo y la silla alta en el otro! ! ! ¡Me sentí en desgracia cuando continuaron divagando entre ellos mientras luchaba con ambos! Ninguna ayuda, ninguna oferta de ayuda, solo una respuesta simple de la actitud terrible de "ellos están allá", ¡lo que deja mucho que cuestionar sobre cómo su jerarquía dirige el establecimiento!

Poor selection of beer mainly lagers hand pull was all off The food was well cooked. really large portions swapped chips for sweet potato chips and there was enough for 3 people. A bit OTT really.

Typical carvery fare offered including roasts. We tried the Beef Lasagna and Rack of Ribs, both very good. Followed by desserts of Eton Mess and Lemon Meringue Pie. Had to order meals initially at the bar, then table service for the desserts and further drinks. Restaurant is full of clocks, even on the ceiling lights. Was a lot of families in celebrating birthdays. Children seemed well entertained in the play area. Did get a bit noisy at times. Overall good service, good food.

Went here with friends to stock up before festival. Choice of meats, I had turkey. Lots of different vegetables, all cooked well. You could pile your plate high if you wanted to. Absolutely no nonsense food. Would be great for families or hungry teenagers.

Muy poco en la forma de vegetarianos sin gluten. El chef sugirió una tarta picante que indicaba claramente en el sitio web que contenía gluten. Simplemente no es aceptable. Pero rápidamente una mujer (de quien parecía que ella era la gerente) salió para decir que no estaba libre de gluten. Ella nos devolvió y fue muy útil. Ella estuvo allí durante toda la comida, aunque no pudimos comer juntos, ya que los yorkies sin gluten tardaron 10 minutos en cocinar y mi esposo casi había terminado su comida para entonces (lo cual disfrutó mucho). Ella nos ofreció un postre o bebida gratis. Ella fue estupenda, pero al final del día, todo el personal de catering debe recibir capacitación sobre TODAS las alergias (especialmente el llamado chef). Had a meal here in January was violently sick both ends , thought I'd report it to head office as I've eaten here on a number of other occasions and all was fine , a person called Sarah Watson dealt with it to which I was told it was being investigated and then I got no more emails, so I would suggest if anyone has a simlar experience to report it to environmental health as this company clearly does not give a toss when they make there customers ill .

Spare of the moment visit. Had carverys, food was very nice, wouldn't have moaned for a bit more meat rather than one piece though. staff very polite/friendly. Clean and tidy good prices. Relaxing and comfortable place, even with the kids play area. Will visit again

Service here is always friendly and helpful. Food and plates always hot, and plentiful. Desserts are good. Meet here with friends, and can natter as long as we like, as no hassle to vacate table.

Early weekday evening carvery. Full choice of meats and vegetables available. Meat portion good. Choice of nine vegetables, of which I had everyone, and, as usual, all well cooked and tasty.

Iv visited castle carvery a few times till I realised there ingredients are cheep factory farmed meat caged hen eggs this is not good for you and in this day n age this company should source there products more responsibly

I ordered the carvery, they had run out of gammon and the meats I did have were dry. Other items from the carvery were either cold or lukewarm and the roast potatoes weren’t crispy. My partner had some chips which were awful and tasted and looked reheated. Southern fried chicken wrap was actually tasty but didn’t have much chicken in. Overall not good.

Fairly quiet .carvery meat looked a bit dried up . Pie was definitely past it's best. Had beef and gammon loads of veg a large Yorkshire pud and some little sausages. Was actually quite nice

Mi niño pequeño fue hoy con su abuela (mi madre). ¡Actualmente está aprendiendo a usar el inodoro y desafortunadamente tuvo un accidente relacionado con el inodoro que necesitaba mucha limpieza! Sé que suena un poco gráfico, pero mi madre explicó que había un miembro del personal que hizo todo lo posible por ayudar a mi niño pequeño yendo mucho más allá de su función laboral y asegurándose de que limpiara bien. Después de escuchar lo mucho que ayudó, todos quisimos agradecer al miembro del personal. Desafortunadamente, no conseguimos su nombre, ¡pero realmente apreciamos toda la ayuda!
