Popped in after having a recommendation, had a halloumi wrap and some battered chips, never had battered chips before, have to say they were delicious. Staff were very friendly too, will definitely go back

100% best chippy in hinckley, no questions

Very small portion of chips for £3.50 way too expensive, the chips were battered not what I asked for. Wasn’t given an option until after, would have had to wait for them to make regular chips. Won’t be going back.

Best chips around Hinckley and surrounding area, also very welcoming and really great service guys, keep on batting and don't declare, I also go past 2 other chippies to get my weekly fix , thanks Bob

Great staff nice service and well worth the food

We came because our favourite place that serves black country battered chips closed down and we were on a hunt for an alternative. Sadly, the hunt continues. The chips weren't quite the same but the real issue is that they were under seasoned and overly floppy. The highlight of the lot was actually the curry, which is exactly the kind of texture and taste you want from a chippy. Not terrible but not worth the drive or price for us, personally.

It's probably the worst chippy I've even been to, I've ordered large chips and mix meat donner , while I took first bite it tasted quite bad but worser I've found a hair after that I've left it and binned it straight away after 5 min I nearly vomited 🤢

Wasn't open google said open till 10pm I arrived at 9pm.it was shut.

Came up from Gloucestershire to buy some HIFI gear and stopped to get my mum and me some chips (as it had good review score). Wow!!, they were some of the nicest, goldenest, crispy edged chips we had (& she’s 85). Mine then fell on the floor in the car on roundabout (gutted!) and so we ended up both sharing hers - there was still enough for both of us! 👍 wish we had one down here really nice chips.

This is my local chippy, the fish is cooked to order, the battered chips really nice everything great & usually the staff are friendly & efficient but Friday evening there was a new girl there that had the personality of a wet fish !! She clearly didn't want to be there, there was no hint of a smile at all, she didn't ask if I wanted salt & vinegar then when she wrapped my order she came out with 'is this yours' handed it to me & completely dismissed me with no hint of ' enjoy or have a nice evening, or thankyou !! Boss send her on a customer relations course !! There are other chippy in Hinckley, let's hope it was a one off.

Great local chippy with plenty of selection and new menu options all the time. Unfortunately I think I got a bit unlucky this time, maybe I ordered a bit late in the day. Tasted good but more doner than chicken meat and a lack of much wanted and asked for salad. Still enjoyed the food and won't put me off returning. Mix kebab on naan bread with salad and chilli sauce £7.50

So we ordered online via Deliveroo and when we were missing items and we called them they accused the Deliveroo driving of stealing the missing items! So we decided to share out what was actually delivered and wished we hadn’t - raw fish and soggy batter! To be honest we’re happy we did t get the missing items - less chance of food poisoning

As others have, I had to try again after the change in management. Nice to see the place looking fresh and clean and welcoming. What can I say about the chips? Wow!! Amazing, never had anything like them before. Had cone of chips & cod roe. Pleased to see a decent size portion of chips, as the last owners had started to get very mean with their portion sizes. Friendly staff and very fast service. Especially impressed as the lady that served me explained my roe was slightly larger than normal, not an issue for me at all, be it she wanted to make sure it was cooked throughout. It was beautiful!! Highly recommend and pleased to see Clifton Chippy back to being a fab local chippy

These have got to be the best chips I have ever had in my life! Battered chips are incredible. For those nervous to try them and wanting to stick to the same old regular chips, give them a go, you'll never turn back. I am not local to the area and usually ordering chips, cheese and gravy gets me some funny looks... but not here. The service is great and the portions are very generous.

Clifton Chippy. Under new management! So we had to go and try it out. I was surprised when l walked in...though the outlay is the same, the menu boards had changed, more clear and a good choice of food. The staff, seemed happy and in smart uniform, there was a few customers when l arrived! I checked the menu first, and then asked for something if they could place something together! With a swift reply "Yes we can do that" so my order was sorted by whom to be the new manager! To note l was surprised to hear of what l asked for, was, spoken about and stated "we can put this on as a new special, on the menu" What did l ask for! Well, mini fish, some chips and curry sauce! on a nan. The chips where slightly yellow as they are cooked in batter, the only other place l have seen this was a place when on holiday in South Devon a place called (Scoffs) My food was ready and off we went. Living locally it did not take long and l was pleasantly surprised with the food. Well presented and tasted good. Let's hope this continues going forward, I'm sure locals will adventure back from what was a unfortunate situation from the past. Best of luck Chifton Chippy.

My expectations for a chippy aren't high, but I was pretty shocked at the quality of this place... The chip portions: were very small and what little there were the chips were only half cooked and soggy, no tasty crispy ones in sight. The battered sausage: was half the size it should have been and the batter wasn't fully cooked, it was soggy and warm (not even hot) was worried to eat it. The battered cod: was also half the size it should be, poorly cooked, soggy and warm (not hot). All in all it looked and tasted rushed, undercooked, and skimpy portions. A decent chippy should have big portions and be properly crispy and crunchy. This was a warm, stingy, soggy mess.

Everything was spot on food wise but do not use uber eats. Food was ready at 8:15 but the owner had to wait until gone closing time because the useless driver didn't bother to pick up the delivery. The owner couldn't apologise enough

100% recommend! Best chips i’ve ever had no cap. Liam is a phenomenal employee and delivers the best chips to your hands from over the counter. The perfect amount of salt and vinegar just makes my day! Dear Clifton Chippy, well done and keep up the sensational work, we are all behind you!

5 quid chips . had to get a loan out for my chippy.

Clean with efficient staff. However standard size fish and chips were huge, far too large to eat. Chips were soggy and the fish in the mini fish and chips was not pleasant. Cod was nice but batter disappointing. Overall we threw away half of what we bought.

It was ok chip where not really hot

Hadn't been here in many years, I'm so glad I did Fish and chips and other bits and bobs for all the family, all cooked perfectly and everyone really enjoyed it. Perfect fish and chips!

there is a huge parking lot next to the store and if english is not your first language the staff are very understanding

Chips were alright, didn't take a card machine, there are better chippys in hinckley depends where you are and how far your willing to drive. If local would recommend but nothing to write home about.

Great quality chips and fish...only place I visit for my fish and chips. Also like the chicken tikka and kebabs. Great range to choose from and polite staff. Also will accommodate if they can for example grilling the fish (on Saturday when grill is on) if you're following a diet plan like me for Slimming World.

Always freshly cooked food. Always have had decent food from here and friendly service . Be prepared for a wait as it is very popular, usually, very busy, as a lot of items are cooked to order. The shop itself looks as though it is kept very clean and is well stocked.
