Clayhanger Fish And Ships in Walsall

Clanger used to be my go to chippy used to have them all the while good food fast delivery but haven't used them in a while until today. Ordered mix meat in a naan, after waiting 1 hour for delivery I rang the shop to be told there's been a delay we haven't done it yet! 30 minutes later it arrived cold and not the large kebab like they used to be, don't know if they've changed hands recently because the portions of meat weren't upto their normal standards and delivery was appalling! Very disappointing and sadly wont be using them again!

Best fish and chips by far and my husband also likes the doner kebabs and gyros, have been using them for about 2/3 months . Never disappointed. WELL DONE

Extremely disappointed in the service I have received tonight - I placed a delivery order for myself & my husband around 19:00 and enquired what the delivery time was due to my husband being an insulin dependant diabetic - we was advised that it would be around a 30-45 minute wait for food. After sometime we contacted the chippy and they advised us at 1945 the driver was leaving. Around 20 minutes had passed by and we was still waiting with no communication from the chippy, we contacted them again asking where the food was to be told it would be 20 minutes to which I had to cancel as my husband had took he's insulin over an hour ago and not ate. We then called back to speak to "Michael" who advised he was not the manager but did apologise however also came up with 3 excuses in regards to why our food hadn't been delivered - including "what was wrong with the order" and also put the phone down on me whilst I was trying to talk. Our complaint tonight is in regards to the lack of communication we have received - my husband asked about the delivery time due to taking insulin, there is no reason why we could not have been informed in regards to possible delays.

delivery slot 45 minutes late, telephoned shop twice and customer service was shocking!! nothing they could do about it!! they had a large order for old peoples home! when it arrived it had to be microwaved as was not hot enough!! I have a delivery every week but will be going elsewhere from now.

Good fresh cooked food good prices clean and friendly

We live in rushall and haven't a decent fish and chip shop around here and we have tried them all we discovered clayhanger in the summer due to health issues we have them delivered by the shop now always tasty and cooked properly

Don't go anywhere else,this is the best chippy around,fresh ,big and definitely VFM.

Usually love food from here but very disappointed tonight fish and chips was luke warm at best my son opened his burger and chips burger had nothing on it no cheese no salad no sauce that I paid extra for maybe need the young girls who serve in there to concentrate on orders

Owner is rude and so is the chef. They treat staff with disrespect. Other reviews say the same. Bland chips

Good food but have to wait long time plus people park in disable bay outside shop no where for disabled customers

Fish and chips is very very good. Not sure how much 'atmosphere' you can expect in a chippy but staff are very friendly abd service was quick. Will definitely use again.

Wow , by far one of the best chippys I've had for a long time, great food, fantastic service. Get yourself an amazing takeaway chippy at this hidden little gem.

Lovely food but thought tonight was poor value for money, my wife had the roe special, but there were hardly any chips? at £6,50 with the gravy extra 40p to be able to put on yourself, and it comes in a cup about the same size as the ladle they put on anyway? and i ordered the special with a pitta bread, but they had just put the pitta bread in the box? i expected it to come constructed?

Their Chicken is way better than KFC 🍗

Service was a bit slow on a number of visits staff are lovely and helpfull food was good price is a bit high but ain't everything these days...recommended a visits if u don't mind the wait.

Used to be fantastic but the last 2 orders which was the large fish and chips, first order the fish looked like a mini fish and this time the fish was large but so skinny such a let down been the best chippy I've found but won't be using again for the price of the meal not worth it anymore

Fantastic and honest place who not only provide good food but will go the extra mile and return your wallet if you leave it on the counter like I did. Thank you for restoring my faith in human kind. I also really enjoyed my food.

I know prices have gone up but a regular bag of chips is no more than a cone. Great tasting chips but unfortunately won't be a frequent visitor as not good value for money.

Nice chippy but shame it doesn't do battered chips

I came into the choppy Saturday afternoon and was served by a very friendly worker despite the choppy looking busy she gave me a good experience and my food was prepared very good will definitely be coming in again

Excellent food and great service

Chips were cut the size of small narrow boats, roe looked like it had died a slow painful death and found 2 black hairs in with our food!

When I moved to the area, I tried the fish and chips from all the local chip shops and Clayhangers is my favourite by far. The food and service is consistently great and that's saying a lot considering we go once a week. :)

Entered the shop with my partner and joined what we presumed was the back of the queue. Other customers entered after us and stood at the other end to of the shop to us and were followed by other customers. We waited our turn and the lady working in the shop told us rudely we were queuing in the wrong place, with no signs advising where to queue, and to join the back of the queue
