Clay Oven in Eastbourne

Mediocre kebab and burger. When ordering I was asked if wanted sauce on the burger and kebab. I asked if chilli sauce for both could be on the side and we were given one small pot. This was so we could put it on ourselves and ended up getting charged an extra £1. Chilli sauce was that horrible generic bottled rubbish too.... Greed has cost them a future customer

Never again. Staff unhelpfull. Food was cols. Delivery was late.

There are some takeaways/restaurants that you'll take one look at...and ...just keep walking, The Clay Oven is one such example. But Hipster, put down your Organic Panda Milkshake and go in...the food is Kurdish and excellent. One of the better kebabs I have had, nice friendly service as well. Will go back

It okay a little to much tomato sauce and mayo overkilled it a bit

My partner and I ordered a mixed kebab from the Clay oven and we were impressed with the quality and amount that we received, we feel that the Clay oven offers good value for money and we would highly recommend a visit and we ourselves will definitely return.

We went here after a night out, the portion sizes are BIG. The Kebabs are tasty, as are the chips. This was one of two kebab shops that was open at 11pm on a Friday night.

Food always hot always tasty Highly recommend

Was my go to kebab takeaway, however the food quality has really gone downhill of late. Update to old review, gave them another try as my usual go to was closed, has gotten even worse since my last try, kebab meat was as thick as a slice of bread and chewy.

Never had a bad kebab. Ever. Usually eat in to preserve the heat of the food but truly my favourite place to eat when I need a quick lamb shish fix. Great prices too.

Been going here or had a delivery from Clay Oven for over 20 years. I’ve never faulted it. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the chilli sauce tonight. It tasted far too sweet and appeared to be shop bought rather than made in the kebab house. Disappointed with the taste

Ordered my food they got it wrong then refused to accept any responsibility. Blamed me, as if I didn’t know what I had ordered. I was served by the manager over the counter. I spoke to him expected this to be rectified but he refused and was quite rude. Absolutely no customer service. I left with half my order incorrect and not very happy. To top it all off the food wasn’t great. I would not go there again.

I ordered chicken burger meal, it was lovely and chilli sauce was homemade so it’s a plus for the place! There’s toilet as well to wash hands after meal

Used to be good, has gone down hill massively. They delivered the wrong food, the so called veggie special was a dollop of hummus for which they charged £6.50! Called to see what they could do, they were rude and refused to help! Absolute joke, avoid at all costs! Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish……..

This is the best place for kebabs and chips in pitta anywhere!! We have moved away from Eastbourne now but nowhere beats this. Thanks guys as awesome as ever

Extremely rude staff. We ordered a deliver worth £40 to our hotel room, which we paid online. After waiting for 40 mins when the food didn't arrive we called the restaurant to ask them about an update. The person who answered the called simply hung up without saying anything. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we assumed it might got disconnected so we called again and told them about our order/address and asked can we please have an update regarding our ordered, to which the person on the phone suddenly shouted (in his broken english) not to call him and waste his time asking such stupid questions and smacked the receiver down to end the call without even giving us chance to say anything further. It was extremely shocking to witness such behaviour towards customers. This was the last time I ordered from them ever again. Food itself was mediocre with soggy and barely warm meat. All in all, its been the worst experience of my life and wasn't worth the time and money at all. My suggestion to their potential customers is that order from somewhere else, who at least have some manners and respect their customers.

Awful service. Got our order wrong and when we rung them to let them know they called me a liar. The food that was correct was cold. Will never go there again.

Went with a large kebab, think it was mistake.. the pitta/wrap was rolled in meat no salad, that was a side salad, we ordered for 2 thinking if we cut in half it would be good, but due to the food being sectioned we needed 2 pittas/wraps We should have ordered as an extra another wrap/pitta to make this into 2 people serving. The meat was very chewy almost like a rubber fatty stuff. If you can’t handle a large by yourself in separate servings, fair enough! Not for us.

Great Kebabs but small portions

Food was delivered early despite asking for a specific time. Food arrived cold. When we called the restaurant, after being passed to different members of staff we were told that “if you order a wrap, you should expect it to be cold. Everyone knows that” do they? Because if I order a wrap I expect it to be hot, as it should be? Asked for them to resend another order, they said no. Even after they said they weren’t busy. Ordered from clay oven many times and have ordered a wrap many times, and it’s never been this rubbish. The fact that they wouldn’t sort out the issue puts me off using them again. If you’re saying that if a customer orders a wrap for delivery and they should expect it to be cold, you shouldn’t be offering this option, because who wants to pay for cold food?

I would like to add that we are absolutely disappointed with your service this evening. My 10 and 12 year old sons waited over two hours for a meal that never arrived. 50 mins before we cancelled this order we called and you said it was out for delivery. When we phoned back 50 mins later you said you hadn't seen the ticket. 2 hours and you haven't even started to cook the dish??? Absolutely not acceptable. We are now making dinner for or children (who are very disappointed) because you were not able to deliver. We love your food and have enjoyed eating with you for the last 20 years but with service like this, I fear you have lost a loyal customer! I look forward to your refund. Good evening!

Food never turned up. Two hours after ordering. And being told it was on its way.

Massively disappointed. Ordered at 7pm with a 45min delivery. Chased after 1 hrs and spoke to them ( the order is on its way). 2 hrs later, called again. Never received the order. Disappointed. Been a customer for 10 years. Will not be returning, hopefully they refund the order soon (quicker than the delivery).

Worlds best kebabs?! These are my favourite kebabs, they also have backlava and deliver pretty quick. My favourite is an xl chicken kebab with chilli sauce. Yum! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! *** Update *** 3 years on this is still a brilliant kebab shop and well worth ordering from. :)

Best doner kebabs around cooked in a real clay oven

10 September 22. We ordered 2 chicken kebabs with salad and chips ,what we received was one with 3 bits of chicken? ( rabbit) and cabbage the other one consisted of 6 bits of chicken? (rabbit) and no salad , the chips were ordered with red sauce only one had it on very disappointed as it use to be very good what with the staff and there don’t care attitude certainly will not be returning

My favourite Kebab shop in Eastbourne - I really like the chicken Donner wrap - I have been going to Clay Oven for over 15 years.

I order 2 kebab here the worse kebab I have had the chicken not cooked properly and the donner was too piece of big pieces of long meat not cooked I would order from here again can get food poisoning

Tender chicken in a wrap with a good amount of salad but wrapped up very poorly. All the salad fell out and sauce and juice dripped all over my clothes. Decent taste and fresh but just too messy.

Ordered a large Shish kebab it was tough and chewy with a can of coke the bill came to £12.50 what a joke what made it worse another tacky kebab shop across the road has a board outside Burger,chips and can £5 😢 it's says on the website Turkish restaurant your having a laugh a million miles away from being Turkish part of a row of tacky kebab shops on Seaside Road what sells bland and frozen food I'm mad with myself I know better than that🙄

We have been getting our kebabs from Clay Oven for over 10 yrs, last week we had a slight issue with our chicken (nothing major, just very dry), I spoke to a guy named Tan, his customer service manner was nothing short of excellent.He offered us our next order 'on the house '. Caters get it wrong, I appreciate that, not all of them deal with the issue in the way that Tan did. Well done Tan and Clay Oven, you keep our custom Thank you

Simply the best kebab in town, well established, highly recommended a visit!

Called in late one night and they were about to close. Managed to order a kebab and waited. While waiting I watched the chap filling up the mayonnaise bottle, he spilt some down the side of the bottle and used his finger to wipe the spillage back up the bottle and back into the bottle. I asked for my money back and left. Will never go in there again. Disgusting

I haven’t been to the clay oven in years due to me being a mum and not going on many nights out. Last night I was excited to not only go out but once again have a clay oven kebab. We arrived at 1 to be told it was closed despite it being advertised as 3. Very unhappy customer who will not be returning.

I've been to this restaurant a few times n have to say that I was really happy with the service along with the food,and was reasonably priced so I would recommend anyone to go there n try for themselves.

What rude bunch..,.over priced and not good. Never recommend and never buy again. Specifically asked for only onions, jalapenos and chilli sauce due to allergies and the one thing I am very allergic to.....tomatoes they loaded it with! Whole thing went straight into the bin! What a waste of money!

Excellent, received to the Archery area piping hot. Ordered over the phone as I only like certain salad. Not a problem. Also didn't mind card payment. This is my new place.

We ordered kebabs, they were cold and came with a wrap (no pitta) that I could have soled my shoe with. They were very small, compared to others we had had of the same size. Very disappointing, we phoned and they said we could send them and have more but we declined as they were so horrible. Even the dogs didn’t want them

We have eaten here once and had takeaway twice. they do not serve thin shavings of meat but rarther 1/2 inch thick donna steaks served in wraps rather than pitta bread. In my humble opinion the best donna ever

Discusting food, im not one to complain,customer service was awful. They put the phone down and only care about the money instead of customer care! The doner meat looked like horse meat! And it stunk on arrival! Never again! Dont waste ur money!

Used to live in Eastbourne and to prove a point to a mate of mine we travelled down from Cambridge so I could show him how it’s done. Just as good as I remembered m. Truly legendary kebabs Well done

If there was a no star rating this would be to good for this place They xant even be bothered to say that certain items are off the menu let alone mark it on the menu It took an hour for the order to arrive And there was a substaution made we ordered 1/4 chicken and chips they substituted a four piece chicken wrap which was priced less than the chicken and chips When we ran to complain they tried to make out we ordered the wrap then they sai the chicken and chips were off the menu . Couldn't be bothered to read back the order to double check it there was no mention of how long the order would take And when I checked the ratings I was surprised to see it only had a food rating of ONE I gave been to road side snack Van's with a 4 or 5 food ratting please avoid this place like the it was the worst place on earth I'm tempted to get in touch with the trading standards office As you can tell I'm a VERY disgruntled customer

Ordered and eaten from clay oven for many years and always loved it, but something has changed and not for the better. The meat tastes different. Not same marinade. The wraps not homemade, the chips bland and soggy. So dissapointing.

Proper Kebab in the clay oven, delicious after a few beers!

This has got to be the worst kebab I have ever ordered in my whole entire life. It was extremely overpriced, took over an hour to be delivered and when it finally arrived it was stale, freezing cold, the pitta we ordered was wraps and the wraps were like cardboard, the salad was wilting, chicken was so cheap and chewy and the non existent garlic mayonaise was enough to put anyone off. We also paid 3 pounds for a bottle of coke that was never delivered. Asked for a refund of the money and was told they would redeliver it. They never delivered it and kept our money for it!! Was waiting all evening for it to be delivered. Literally had 3 mouthfuls and put the lot in the bin. My partner ordered a mixed kebab of doner and shish and all that was in it was lumps of doner meat and no shish at all!! Never again!!

Had many a kebab in here, now on just eat and had one delivered, didn’t disappoint, delivered 20 mins earlier than expected, food was hot on arrival and as good as if you ordered in the shop. Highly recommend.

Called into the clay oven after going to the Congress Theatre and finding that the Eastbourne restaurants close shortly after 22:00. They have a seating area so placed our order and although we was expecting to eat from paper wrapping our chink kebabs and chip we nicely served on a plate with cutlery. The chickens as really nicely cooked so this ended up being a great find. Excellent food and great service, thank you.

Ordered from here only because lara grill is closed until 29th Aug. What a rip off Donner meet is horrible. Portions are well small wouldn't order from here again I had special kebab and large cheesy chips and still hungry was swimming in grease plus they forgot 2 cans and I gave a tip. Avoid at all cost

I studied tourism management here in Eastbourne 20 years ago (1999) and have come back especially for their clay-oven baked kebab. best grilled chicken meat, freshly made salad stuffing, big portion, delicious, amazing! Extraordinary! Go there, you will be thankful for my advice!! ;-)

Used to be a well run, well mannered kebab house. My experience tonight is simply quite the opposite. 1.5 hours for cold food that was returned with no apology or any humility from the outrageously rude man on the telephone who continued to shout down the phone to me until it was decided that he didn’t want our custom anyway.. the driver was turned around by the man on the phone to return back to the kebab house with our food. I strongly suggest avoiding this sorry excuse of a supposedly ‘excellent’ run kebab house as it’s an absolute disgrace!!

This place deliver the best kebabs in Sussex, they are always fresh and are generous portions. We are lucky to have such a great place in Eastbourne that deliver. 😀

Last night was the first time we had used this kebab shop as not from this area. The staff were really friendly and the food was excellent. When my husband went to pay for the kebabs again the staff reminded him they were already paid for. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone

Best kebab I have had in recent years. Arrived 1 am and takeaway chicken kebab cooked to order. 20 minutes later having a wonderful eating experience and no I wasn't drunk as had been playing bridge till 11.30 pm.

Food is tasty but you need to wait very long time for it to be delivered. And it open only after 4pm, delivery after 4:30...

Phoned to place an order over 45 minutes on a Monday evening very unhelpefull and cold when arrived asked for cheesy chips normal turned up phoned up and was told never asked for cheesy chips my partner was present when called terrible service AVOID

Love this place for kebabs. Biggest portions and always fresh salad. Love the baklava, pitta and humous and the fact they deliver! Also easy to order on their website. Never had a bad kebab here. You will be impressed!

I get kebabs pretty frequently from the clay oven the Doner is the best in the town by a long stretch!!! Personal recommendations are large Doner with all the salad no onions or tomatoes!! Ketchup little bit of cheese and plenty of green chillies keep up the good work lads

Whether ordering a kebab or burger this is the place to go in Eastbourne. All food is prepared whilst you wait but is worth every mouthful! Staff are very friendly also. So if you have been out for an evening and feeling rather hungry after closing time The Clay Oven is certainly the place to pick up some good food.

I had two large Donnas tonight, absolutely lovely. Clean and lovely surroundings. Polite service and fresh crisp salad, who could ask for more ? So many times I have fell out of the nightclub, purchased a kebab from Clay Oven, got halfway home and gone back for another, yes they are that good there lol

I had a take way from this place on several occasion and quality of food always up there,never had a bad meal from here,even last night i had shish wrap which was divine,succulent tender meat very tasty,highly recommend.
