Clapton Table in Hackney

Loved this place as I used to go there all the time. The standard of the food has dropped which is sad. Especially the lamb kofta with rice. The koftas shrunk over time. Thought it was a bit on the pricier side.

Excellent local eatery: staple dishes such as chicken skewers consistently delicious, reasonably priced and a warm smiley welcome, what's not to like. Particularly appreciative in the current challenging financial climate, that you remain on our doorstep.

Lovely atmosphere healthy food and excellent customer service will be recommending to friends and family.

A lovely brunch here with delicious pancakes. Staff v helpful and friendly. Nice cocktails too. Lots of seating on a Sunday at midday.

I have lived around the corner from here for 3.5 years. It always looked empty but I went when I first moved in, the food was great, but the service was. rubbish. I gave it the benefit of the doubt about 5 times but every time the food was great service was awful. Not that they are rude, they just have no idea what they are doing. Forgotten orders, wrong food, wrong bill, waiting over an hour when the place is empty. It’s a shame because the food is so good and it has a nice vibe. The last time I was there I had to ask for the service charge to be taken off because it was frankly a joke. Last time I go there. I feel like I have it enough chances. Someone needs to take this place over, keep the chefs. It could be great.

I've been a few times now and the food is just fantastic. Really fresh and well cooked every time. I have no idea how it isn't busy all the time! Would definitely recommend and will be going back again and again!

I have been here many times as I am local and usually I am very happy with the food and the service. However, my loyalty is being tested by the laptop policy. I am an author and love the idea of writing in this cafe - it is relaxed, friendly, not too crowded, you can order coffee or wine as the mood takes you. If allowed I would stay for several hours writing (and ordering!!) and indeed have done so in the past. However, in the last year or so they introduced a policy of no laptops past 6pm and I was caught out when I tried to go there and write on a Sunday afternoon at around 5. Today (also a Sunday) I went there mid-afternoon, but as I took my laptop out the previously friendly waiter told me quite sternly that no laptops were allowed at the weekends at all. This would make sense if it was a really buzzing cafe and laptop-users were taking up space required by larger parties but it is more than half empty literally all the time (which is precisely why it is appealing to people wanting to come and sit quietly on their own). Why turn away loyal customers who want to sit unobtrusively ordering a steady stream of drinks? Presumably I would be allowed to stay if I sat on my own and read a book - I don't really see what the difference is? Basically, this used to be a really welcoming place for solo customers and now it isn't. Their attitude leaves a really sour taste when you have made a special trip to take them your custom. I'll go to other cafes in future, with or without a laptop.

We’ve been visiting the Clapton Table for the past 3 years. The ambiance is relaxing and welcoming. The Chef Farouk is simply wonderful. The murals inside are beautiful. We love the food, have eaten most dishes here. We’ve brought many friends to eat here. We have no hesitation recommending this little jewel in Clapton. Can’t wait until our next visit.

I have been to this restaurant several times on my own also with friends. There are many other restaurants in the area but liked the food and the service received here. On Saturday night I went there on my own, as it was a very warm night I sat outside, It was not the usual staff that was taking orders, my first impression of the waiter was that he was very scruffy with greasy hair, when he eventually came and took my order starting with a glass of wine I told him I was going to the toilet. On arrival back from the toilet he had left the glass of wine outside on the table, there was a fly in it, I went inside with the glass and showed him, his reply was I am sitting outside and should expect flies, he began arguing with me in front of other customers saying I was blaming him for flies, I tried to speak to him letting him know I was not blaming him but pointed out that he should not have just left my glass of wine on the table outside and should have waited until I came back, the seating outside is just off the pedestrian pavement, He just continued to argue and I decided to leave, he began shouting that he was not serving me even though I was on my way out the door. My feeling was as I am an elderly black women he thought he could treat me this way.

On Sunday, my wife, step-daughter & boyfriend had 1300 reservations for lunch at the Clapton Table. We had a nice table outside as we had our Cavapoo with us. To sum up the experience in one word, I would say 'delightful'. Customer service was both friendly and very attentive. The ambience was very relaxing. The food was well presented and everything we ordered was delicious. The Greek salad was especially wonderful and certainly can compare with those we are accustomed to having in the Greek Islands. If I had to find any negative point about this experience, I would only mention that the prices were somewhat high. Will definitely be going back!

Ordered via Uber waited 1 hour and food arrived cold dry, horrible quality is less than zero. We called via phone for complaints and the man did answer is not his problem and need complain Uber and shut the phone on my face. Many good restaurants around the area avoid this.

I saw the many good reviews so wanted try the new experience. However the food was cold and dry. I didn’t enjoy. Rice was so dry couldn’t swallow it. Lamb Kofte had some bones inside. Worst ever food I tried.

Cozy restaurant and great service. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. The atmosphere is chill and cool and the staff is really friendly. The food is pretty good. I tried the sea food pasta and I really liked it. I highly recommend it.

The food is good Good place for an informal meeting or work space. What lets' it down is the service, the waiter is so rude and unwelcoming. I visit quite a bit to do some work and have lunch. I always order a few coffees and a starters, so its not like I am not giving them any business. Anyway the servers are not the most friendly or tentative.

Enjoyed a home-style cooked supper at this cosy family run restaurant. We hadn’t booked. I recommend the vegetable moussaka (£10.50) with sweet potato fries (£3.20) and the chicken Mediterranean style (£12.50), friendly service and cooked to order. Very tasty!
