We popped in for lunch but sadly wasn’t a great experience. We were sat down at a dog friendly table but the waitress didn’t give us any menus so we had to go find some, once sat for a while the waitresses were back and forward to other tables and kept looking at us but still no one came. We ended up just leaving and went to another cafe instead which was lovely with great customer service and welcoming. The other thing that let this place down was when we left and handed our menus back the lady just gave us a dirty look and said “alright”.

Lovely food and drink... only issue we would have is that as the food is made fresh but they serve the drinks first and by the time the food arrives the drinks are gone...

Staying at the domes by the sea and they recommended the Clann in their welcome book. We came for lunch and had a soup and panini, both lovely and would come here again if in the area again!

Great place! Called in with a business colleague. Staff friendly, soup and sandwich were both delicious (Proper tattie soup. Mmmm!). Clean and reasonably priced. Coming back soon when passing through on a motorbike this time.

Amazing little cafe! Rightfully popular with really kind and attentive staff. Dog friendly as well! The cakes are absolutely incredible and we couldn’t believe how reasonably priced the cafe was compared to everywhere else! We tried the brownie, Victoria sponge and coffee cake - huge slices and so so delicious. We also had the soup and a panini which was incredible. If you’re looking for a welcoming, comfortable and generously priced spot this is the place. Definitely a hidden gem. We wished we had discovered it sooner so we could have visited once more before we left!

Voted the best scones of our trip to Dumfries and Galloway by my mother, who makes a mean scone herself. Good coffee too and friendly staff. Caters well for gluten-free diets too.

This popular cafe is right in the heart of the town. It has an excellent linch and coffee and cakes menu. The service is very friendly but was a bit under pressure on the day we visited. We really enjoyed our lunch. Note - the name is Claan!

Stopped over for an afternoon snack. We had the home made "tattie soup" and toastie with tea. Both were very enjoyable and the portions were generous. Nice spacious seating area and nice clean toilets. The staff are very friendly in this busy cafe/restaurant.

We visited this cafe twice as the coffee was so good. The first time we had cheese scones, which were excellent. The second time we took friends, and we had poached eggs on toast, quiche and salad, breakfast bap - all of which were really good. The service was good, the staff were friendly, and it looks as though this would be a good place for meeting up in groups and with friends. It was placed centrally on the St. Mary Street, so was easy to find. There were art galleries to visit in that area too.

Lovely cafe serving up some great food. The lentil soup was one of the best we have ever had. Toasted sandwiches were delicious. Will definitely be back when we are in town again

After a great morning walking in the Galloway Forest, we called in at the CatStrand. Wow, what a gem of a place.its a gift shop with interesting books and art. But the best surprise is the cafe. Serving the best haggis and baked potato ever! We have called their butcher to buy more haggis. They have a nice selection of local beers to wash down a haggis lunch Also, check out their entertainment evenings. We will be back!

In the area for a few days and popped into The Anglers for lunch. Beautiful entrance and restaurant well appointed, beautifully decorated and pristine. Warm welcome from the staff who were very attentive. Very appealing menu to cater for all tastes. Food fantastic and plentiful. Reasonable prices for the quality on offer. Toilets immaculate. Cannot recommend this place highly enough and would visit again if in the area. Superb!

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back
