What a find . Fantastic coffee and cakes . We came across this little gem on a rainy , blustery October day . Will definitely come back here again .

Stopped for lunch last week and enjoyed the excellent facilities and food. A cyclist ask me to have a look at his bike after an incident that had jammed the chain and gears. The centre has a bike stand, pump and tools outside which we made good use off to get him back on the road. Without the stand the job would have been far more difficult.

Superb idea. Providing a benefit to the local community as well as tourists. The snacks were delicious, the service friendly. Tables well spaced and excellent CV adherence. Get a seat next to the windows for some lovely views. Please check ahead because it does not open every day and then only for short hours (for the lunch trade essentially).

Wonderful food, particularly the locally caught crab, and views of the sea. Recommend the cakes! Very friendly and dogs allowed at the outside tables.

We have visited this cafe when visiting N. Uist for many years. The homemade cakes are delicious as are the homemade oat cakes. Great spot for a Filled roll and bowl of soup with a great sea view and efficient and friendly staff. Till next time..

Friendly staff, clean premises and very good sandwiches and soup made for a pleasant lunch on a sunny Thursday afternoon. Their chicken and leek soup, served with a home baked cheese scone (or bread roll) was excellent and just what I needed. They also serve a selection of locally made cakes. I’d highly recommend the carrot cake! A great wee place with welcoming staff.

I visited twice in 4 days! The coffee is great, the scones are straight from a home kitchen and the soup was tasty, hot and thick. Lovely service and excellent views. In the old days (pre pandemic) the craft side of the operation was inspiring and thriving. Let’s hope that can come again.

Called into this shop to buy some local products. Suitably masked I walked into the shop to be accosted by an assistant who rudely shouted only one person allowed in the shop. There were 4 people eating in the large cafe and 1 person looking at items for sale. In such a large premise I would have thought more than one would be allowed inside. While accepting this rule the problem I had was with the rudeness if the assistant, They lost a sale of some significance!

Second time visiting here. Very impressed with the social distancing measures in place for COVID. Service is lovely and friendly. Food is fantastic. Hot smoked salmon wrap in particular. Nice cakes too.

We went here a couple of times during our visit to North Uist. Fantastic location, lovely little cafe which serves great food which is all home made/baked and is just great. The lady that served us was a great source of local knowledge and nothing was too much for her. The way they have used the old school for this imaginative concept could be a lesson for many outlying villages that have no amenities

My, friends and I called in here on during our recent visit to the Uists. From previous visits we know the food here is excellent and great value. However, on this occasion we just had coffee and a selection of cakes, all delicious. The café is in a beautiful setting with uninterrupted views to the west and the sea. There’s ample free parking. Free WiFi. Highly Recommended

We stopped here for lunch. The soup and desserts were excellent with gluten free options available. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We hope we can visit them again before we leave Uist. Unfortunately we were there on Sunday and the Craft Shop was closed. Another reason for another visit.

Das Café ist für einen kurzen Stopp gut geeignet. Neben Kaffee und Kuchen werden auch kleine Gerichte angeboten, so dass man den Hunger gut stillen kann. Es ist gemütlich udn wir wurden sehr freundlich bedient.Es gibt ein paar Souvenirs und nebenan ist ein Wolladen.

Good place to stop for a bite to eat and a coffee, right by the road and easy to spot. Very welcome for me too, after having biked for many hours in the wind. Very nice cake and hot stron coffee. Staff friendly and generous with information about the area, directions and so on. Apart from the cafe part, they also sell some souvenirs, craft and postcards. Plenty of parking just outside.

We stopped for a lunch and a bit of a look around after getting the ferry down from Harris to North Uist

Visited a couple of times during recent holiday, once for takeaway lunch and again for coffee and cake. Excellent, friendly service and good quality food and coffee both times. Wonderful view. The Claddach Kirkibost centre is a brilliant and encouraging example of a local community hub really working.

Simple little cafe but good wholesome and tastey food. The views from the cafe are fantastic and every minute overs something different. Staff are friendly and helpful but perhaps not the quickest but with those views you will not mind one little bit. Can get busy in summer months so keep this in mind.

Nice cafe with lovely staff. Excellent breakfast rolls with teas and coffees. Small gift shop with some lovely little boys and bobs.

So glad I called in, the open crab sandwich was to die for, and I mamged to squeeze in a slice of homemade cake too! Good service, a view to die for and a lovely relaxed ambience. I even bought some wool from the craft shop located in the same building. Definitely worth a visit.

Called in here en route through North Uist for a hot drink and a bite to eat. Friendly young man served us with delicious home made tomato soup and salmon, locally sourced, and a nice big pot of tea. Not only a pleasant cafe with good food, it's run by a charitable trust bringing worthwhile work and training to the community, so the feel-good factor is high! We also liked the tiny gift shop with its local crafts - high standard, and not run of the mill.

In dem Gemeinschaftsuentrum gibt es neben einem Wollladen und Coiffeur auch ein kleines Cafe mit einfachen Gerichten. Die Bedienung im Restaurant war freundlich und nett. Die Gerichte waren gut zu bereitet. Preis / Leistung war ok.

Having driven past here a few times on our way to Balranald, we decided to stop for coffees and cake, so glad we did.

This is a community owned and run cafe, exhibition and workshop space. Parking a a bit tight with a motorhome, but fine for cars. Cannot take a dog into the cafe, but you can sit outside looking out to the bay.

This was a wonderful place to stop when driving from Barra to North Uist on a road trip. The café was warm and friendly and the food was superb. Will definitely use again if ever in the area.

Came for lunch. Good range of soups, toasties, open sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Smoked salmon and oatcakes also on offer. Gluten and dairy free fresh cakes on offer too which was good. Very welcoming staff and interested in why we were visiting

Popped in for coffee and cake. What a gem of a place, a real tribute to the community spirit of the island. Friendly staff, lovely food, and a view of the coast with the wide beach of white sand. What, as they say, is not to like?

Called in by chance for a coffee but ended up having lunch they do a great bowl of hot teamy soups . A fabulous location ,big windows to look out to sea or over the bay . Very friendly staff

good food ans staff vey friendly would go again and the coffeeand food were delightful, and staff helpped me alot about were to go, there also a gym that i went to and it was amazing and the views were very good, North Uist is the place to be.

Great place for lunch, soup and a scone is just the best. Views over to Kirkibost Island are beautiful and some lovely local produce in the shop.

Great soup and good cakes and scones , always fine Gaelic tunes playing softly in the background (thank heavens they don't play the usual awful Musak or pop drivel you hear in too many places these days).We always call in here, it's become a thing, whenever we are in beautiful North Uist. Usually locals serving too, with their beautiful lilting accents, not always something you hear these days either in hotels, cafes etc.I really know I am in the Outer Hebrides in this busy wee place.

Sometimes all you need after a long walk is some good old fashioned home cooking and the food here ticked all the boxes. There is nothing like a decent cup of tea and a slice of home made cake. Yum.

After a wet day out in the counrrysude i stopped at the cafe for tea and cakes. The cafe has marvellous views across the bay and the staff were very welcoming. The tea was very refrwshing and the cakes

Enjoyed a delicious bowl of sweet potato soup and a great cheese scone. My friend enjoyed a generously filled smoked salmon roll.

I'm a regular at this community café as I am often working or holidaying in North Uist. This is a great café and serves delicious soups, seafood and cakes. The home made oatcakes and various chutneys and preserves are really great. I usually take a few home with me! Highly recommended.

Waited a long time for service .used to be very good not a lot of choice .had an egg mayo roll .roll was not fresh cakes not fresh and to my horror no meringues

This cafe is part of a thriving community centre and has lovely views out across the bay. There is local art, tea, coffee and cake so what more could you want? Very pleasant

Friendly Had a nice cup of tea and Victoria sponge which was home baked and delicious a reasonable price. Just wish I had stopped there for lunch today

Can’t complain about coffee or tea however seldom have I ever come across staff so disinterested in serving If they don’t want to work send them home

Having visited Claddach Kirkibost on numerous occasions over the years, the cafe consistently produces good old-fashioned home baking, soups and light lunches. The soups are delicious. Perhaps the only place on the island where you can guarantee a good lunch. Customer service could perhaps be worked on in terms of engaging with customers who are mostly visitors to the islands.

Awful lattes. More than half a cup of frothy milk in one serving whereas the other was reasonably normal. A grudging resentment to make another produced a better result.

Atmosfera carina con un bel panorama, se possibile scegliete uno dei tavoli in fondo. Buoni toast e scone fatti in casa.

Good cafe and small shop located inside the centre, there is also craft making workshops but we didn’t partake. Did purchase some lovely vanilla tablet for friends. Who doesn’t like sugar, condensed milk and butter???

We stopped here for a snack, the home baking is delicious. My husband said the scone with cream and jam was one of the best he has had. I had one of the home made biscuits they were delicious.

We popped in for a light lunch when cycling up the Hebridean Way. Nice food and good service in quite a remote and quiet place. Well worth it if you are passing by.

Ordered smoked salmon and oatcakes for my husband and smoked salmon in a wrap for myself. Unsure why we waited so long for small, cold lunches and mine arrived as flaked salmon. Waitress forgot my coffee so re-ordered and it was served tepid, no apology...

Been here before on our visits to North Uist. On this occasion the cake was very nice and the young lady who served us was very pleasant. Nice views too on this sunny day. Coffee however was lacking. The flavour wasn't as good as most...

Spotlessly clean, with all facilities on hand and a delightful menu of home made dishes available until 3.00 pm (this was March so may be different in high season). Can recommend the home made soup which comes with the option of a home made cheese...

We used this as a 11's stop twice whilst we were on the Hebrides. Great staff, coffees, cakes and loos!

Con impresionantes vistas al mar y un menú variado, junto con un personal servicial, amable? Tenía un rollo de tocino con un café y me senté en un asiento junto a la ventana mirando el mar - Hermosa!

A really FAB centre. Excellent homemade soup with a choice of roll or scone, we chose roll but the scones looked very good and we didn't realise that this was a Scottish tradition - next time we will know. The waitress was very polite, service couldn't be better and we also spoke to the chef who made the soup to gain some tips. Also a small area with preserves and gift items. Well worth a visit. It is also a good idea to pop into the craft shop where there is wool and many other craft items.

An excellent place to stop for tea and cake on a rainy day, whilst planning the day's activities and watching the waves on the beach.

Stopped here to use the internet services as we'd lost internet in our holiday rental. The staff couldn't have been more helpful.Coffee and baking was excellent and there's a nice wee shop selling gifts,jam etc

Had a lovely visit here with family for lunch. Food was great bonus that everything is home made. The scones were delicious! A must try! The staff were very friendly especially Margaret that served us would defiantly be back also very good value for money

This is a lovely local café and centre. The food is good and you are made to feel welcome. They sell products they make such as jams , chutneys and tablet with a small selection of crafts most made locally. Definitely worth a visit for lunch or coffee and homemade cake.

For the weary cyclist or traveller this is a gem on the beautiful North Uist coast, beautiful views, great simple food and friendly service.

Called on a rainy afternoon.Had carrot and lentil soup with a homemade scone very tasty, to finish passion fruit sponge which was really tasty.

A big shout out to the ladies in the Cafe who helped me connect to the land of WiFi while visiting North Uist so I could keep up with work! The cafe itself is excellent, coffee is delicious and the jams/chutney they sell is to die for! Keep up the great work!

Very nice lunch - catered for coeliac in our group with gluten free bread. Nice soups and toasted sandwiches. Very nice staff. I do recommend.

Came here often as was so near to our rented house but even if not would still have arrived! Great snacks and lunches and the cakes are amazing all very freshly made. Staff try hard and when busy may take little longer than you would expect on mainland but when it comes it's worth waiting for! Do visit. The pecan and coffee cake plus the chocolate malteser tray bake was to die for!

Has a lovely family lunch here. Really straightforward good quality fayre in delightful surroundings. Prices very reasonable.

Lovely coffee (I had mocha, my friend cappuccino) and a delicious and very generous mars crispie slice. Beautiful view. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff.Don't expect a classy restaurant; that is not what this is. But the menu looks good if simple. Hoping to try the jacket potato with smoked salmon before I leave the island.

Stopped off for a light bite, food was good...soup, sandwiches, toasties etc also fresh crab and Scottish cheeses with oatcakes. All enjoyed what we'd eaten, fresh home baking was also good. Nice view across the lochs and small selection of local food and crafts available

I call in every Spring holiday. The food is always fresh, with generous helpings. Staff are pleasant and efficient. Great cakes/coffee.

Grosses Café, kleiner Laden und ein paar Bilder an der Wand lokaler Künstler. Feine Kuchen, herrliche Panoramafenster.Und für Kinder ebenfalls sehr interessant.

Great place for coffee/tea and snacks and friendly service, with the added advantage it has local preserves and tablet for sale in addition to other gifts and books. The entrance has a wealth of information available too, so a browse is good.

We stopped off for lunch on a tour of the island. Had lovely sandwiches/wraps/baked potatoes. Options included peat smoked salmon from the Hebridean smokehouse down the road. Cakes were delicious - we bought extra for a snack later.

I reviewed this venue a few years ago and after visiting North Uist this year the Hebridean Kitchen was high on my list of lunch venues - and its still totally brilliant and one of the bst cafes in the Outer Hebrides.Lovely food, delicious cakes, great coffee, clean and modern - on a nice day you can sit outside in the sun and on the worst of days relax inside a look out at the wind and rain!A must visit cafe and make sure you try the sea trout, oakcakes and sweet chilli jam!

When in Uist for a week at the end of May, we must have boosted this cafe's profits by about 50% as we went there almost every day!Don't get me wrong, this is NOT a high class cafe aiming at the top end of the market and rich trippers - and thank goodness for that. This is a great community development, with a very good cafe attached. The staff were lovely and helpful even if not having the typical 'professional' approach that you see in so many tourist-orientated outlets. The young women who served us seemed to be local girls who were pleased to have found employment in the area - and they were lovely. So much so that they held a table for us as we had booked in for a brunch on the way to the ferry on our last day - even when a coach of 35+ people had descended on them with about 15 minutes notice!The food was very good too - the pea and mint soup especially.If you are looking for a 'top end cuisine and dining experience', look elsewhere. However, if you open yourself up a little wider and want to enjoy a community development which offers local people IT courses; a nursery; meeting rooms etc AND has a very good community cafe attached, call in here, relax, enjoy the views and you will be glad you did.Congrats to all the people who clearly strove to develop this resource.....and keep making those scones!
