Circo - Cellar Bar in Bath and North East Somerset

Friendly staff. However very odd atmosphere. When booking I had to pay a deposit and was repeatedly told that we only had 45 mins as that was all that was available, which was strange but we agreed to this. When we arrived the bar was almost empty. We were brought the bill with our drinks and no one came back to serve us, despite it being empty. The lady did assure us that we wouldn't be kicked off the table though unless they needed to move it for the DJ. At 8:30 the DJ set up and turned all the lights off, strange music and was very loud. No one was on the dance floor so just seemed rather unnecessary so early. Happy hour was £16 for two drinks, with 12.5% service charge - not sure £18 for two drinks can be counted as happy hour prices... Drinks also weren't great, not for how much they cost! Much better bars with better atmospheres in Bath!

A special place with amazing atmosphere, live music and wonderful cocktails. One can’t go wrong choosing this place.

We visited thos establishment before a dinner reservation to celebrate a special birthday. We arrived at approx 645pm on 8th March. The place was busy, but we got a table and read the menu. The reason we chose this place for a cocktail was that our restaurant was 5 a minute walk away, and we wanted to raise a glass of an espresso martini to a recently departed friend. We went to the bar to order our happy hour drinks only to be told it's table service. We waited 25 minutes before we saw a member of staff to attract their attention. He apologised for the wait when we told him how long we have waited as he had been busy doing masterclasses for the past 4 hours??? Due to our long wait, we didn't have time for 2 drinks, so my friend and I ordered espresso martini, thinking we would have the happy hour price for 2 drinks. Our partners ordered drinks not included in happy hour. The server then brought a small ramekin dish of rice crackers as an apology, but weirdly, he acted as though he had given us a dish of caviar, and we should be very grateful. Very strange. Anyway our drinks came at 7.28pm and we asked for the bill. The bill was £45!!! For 4 drinks when 2 of the four should've been happy hour price! So that made no sense. Due to lack of time, we had to drink our drinks quickly and not enjoy them at a leisurely pace as planned before leaving to get to our restaurant reservation. What added " salt to the wound" was a party of 6 came in at 720 and got served straightaway by a female server, and they received their drinks before we left! A very disappointing experience at Bath, unlike your Cardiff branch, which is always excellent! Will not be returning or recommending, unfortunately

We came down to Bath for the weekend for my husband’s birthday and this cocktail bar did not disappoint infact we went back it was that good, Max, Callum and staff could not do enough for you, the cocktails were all made from scratch and as a bonus the were 2 for £14 until 9pm on a Friday and Saturday night…. Just perfect, thanks guys!

Came out of Clayton’s Kitchen having had a wonderful dinner; fancied a night cap in Circo…have been here many times and it's a good bar. This time however the doorman asked if we had a reservation to which I replied no - and then said there was a £5 entry fee. Never had to pay an entry fee before and £5 isn't much but Circo it makes you look cheap. Disappointed and won't be coming back.

I went here after my work Christmas party and had a great time! We had the private room on the left hand side as you come in and that was great as a base for all our coats etc. The DJ was epic and played tonnes of 00s tunes. My only suggestion is that they redo the toilets as they weren't great.

Came here for some end of day cocktails 6 years ago with my then fiance, the drinks were great. Heading to Bath for the Christmas markets with my now wife and hoping to pop in for some cocktails. Sadly they are closed on Sundays, but I emailed just to be sure. Got a message back straight away with some alternative suggestions for cocktail bars. That's great service!! Thank you

Callum working 15.11.2024 so friendly and accommodating. Very kind and has a lovely smile. Making my friend and I feel so welcome. We had a bad experience in a local bar so this was refreshing. Thankyou Callum for restoring our faith into bath nightclubs! We travelled from Barry island so worth the visit for my birthday!

got harassed by the bouncers and accused of things i hadnt done. Never come here if you can help it, theres a much better place just above.

We visited as part of my daughter’s hen party and did the cocktail making experience. Calum was our host and was an absolute joy. He made our time there fun, exciting and memorable, making sure he was inclusive for all 11 of us. Great experience. I would highly recommend a visit. Thank you Circo 🍹🍸☺️

We reserved a table for my sister's hen party for a Saturday evening. Thank you to the team for being so accommodating and responsive over email with my various questions and queries (I needed to make sure the venue was suitable for the group). We had such a fun evening with really great music and cocktails.

A nice little joint went about 10pm Saturday night and wasn't too busy unlike other bars in the area. Plenty of cocktails to choose a very big menu. The servers like a little flourish to making them so adds a little entertainment value. Some very nice comfy seating at the back too. Entrance is basically on the road down some steps so a little hazardous after a couple of lemonades, be careful!

Was not allowed in around 8pm to try their cocktails because i came by myself. I am new to the area and have no mates yet to drink with. Was a bit disappointed and will not return. The venue was almost empty too

We had a cocktail class with Callum, it was amazing! Best cocktail class I’ve done. The bar is really nice inside, and the everyone was friendly. The class that Callum did with us was so much fun and he was great at taking us through the cocktails.

We had a cocktail masterclass on a Hen party with Callum. Well, all I can say is Callum was absolutely amazing. Funny, patient with us (we'd had bottomless brunch beforehand!) and such a lovely guy. The cocktails tasted amazing and we had so much fun in the class I would 100% book again. Thank you so much Callum!

Me and my partner went to Circo recently for a night out as part of a trip to Bath for the bank holiday weekend. We had planned to swing by a few places but stuck here for the entirety. Good atmosphere, music and to top it off Mike/Matt (hope I am getting those names correct) served us up some top quality cocktails. Been a while since I had a mojito that tasted that good and regardless of who made the drink was top notch each time. The place to go for a good cocktail and a decent night.

Not one to leave a review but after my experience at cicro I feel its needed... A group of us sat down to have a few cocktails... as time went on me and a friend needed to use the toilet. We then returned afterward to our seats then only to be greated by a member of staff which accused us for doing drugs!! We both where set back and surprised from what she just said and accused us off.. we then asked for the bill. The waitress was then surprised that none of us would give a tip for her service!! The service we received from her was poor. The attitude from her througout was poor. AND to be accused by a member of staff in front of everyone of doing class A drugs was just embarrassing. First time and last time I will visiting.

The bar is cosy and a hidden gem, the service was fun and you can tell the staff look after their customers. Our server Milly was absolutely amazing! The drinks tasted amazing and the variety was huge!! I recommend the Pumpkin serenade, Stairway to lemon and lycheeky :)

The perfect place for a cocktail. We enjoyed some fabulous drinks whilst say by the fire. Lovely happy, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Personally my favourite cocktail bar in Bath, will be back soon! Graham is the best DJ and always plays your songs, just brill, only go when he is there! Find him there on most Friday nights.

Didn't visit for the nightclub on Friday and Saturday. Drinks and services were spectacular. Very intimate atmosphere, many nooks and crannies for small groups or couples. We found ourselves coming back multiple nights to try almost every drink. Definite hidden gem, must visit for Bath.

Had a beautiful evening here the other day, our server Milly was great! She was so much fun and looked after us so well. Tia was very fun and professional as well, her cocktails were amazing! 10/10 great place

I came in with a group of friends and the place is absolutely lovely our server Callum was a great joys and we loved engaging with him. Two for 13 is a great deal however the cocktails are somewhat underwhelming and could use some refining

Our server was super friendly and the service was amazing. While its on the pricier side, its definitely worth it from our experience. My partner cannot have drinks with artificial sweeteners and the staff were super accommodating and helped to pinpoint the drinks they could have, without having to go for the boring option of a pint. Definitely will be back :)

Pretty lairy door staff.. make it seem like it's the most exclusive venue in the world. Once you're in, it's OK, had a fun night but nothing special.

The trouble with the place is you are on a 2 hour slot for you table and they severe you a full round of drinks 10 minutes before you time is up saying you have plenty of time no rush then the manager comes and says you must leave the table as its booked.

We were a party of 7 who did a cocktail masterclass. It consisted of 3 cocktails split over 2 hours which gave us plenty of time to mingle and enjoy our cocktails in-between each lesson. Millie was our teacher/ bar tender, she did a fantastic job teaching us how to make the cocktails and some background history on them, she was very chilled and attentive. The decor of Circo was very classic and quirky with individual pods where you can enjoy drinks privately. The cocktail class was located in it's own quarter which allowed us to feel more relaxed. I definitely recommend the cocktail class because you're paying for the cocktails anyway so might as well pay a little extra to learn how to make them! Overall, we enjoyed the drinks, the service and the atmosphere

Tom could not have been more accommodating or made our hen night more fun. He was hugely welcoming from the word go, found us a great table despite not having a booking and then an even better area with our own dance floor for the rest of the evening. I was not allowed in as I was visiting on a weekend.i don't know why the woman door person refused me entery as I was smartly dressed and wasn't cosing any trouble.if your a single guy on his own I won't recommend going there

Extensive cocktail list and willingness to let patrons go off-piste. Surprised they didn’t have a Zombie on the menu but they reanimated one for me ;-)

Cocktails we’re very nice however we were the only ones on there and still did not get super fast service. As well as that we got a 12% charging fee leading to £7 extra on the bill without being made aware and had no choice to pay

Stuck up tossers. My partner, partners friend and I had been for a lovely meal, wanted a post meal cocktail/mocktail and were turned away purely on the basis of jeans. Security person on door was not remotely smart so it was quite laughable we were turned away.

Visited last week. Attracts a slightly older crowd for a club, late 20's-40's seemed to be the average age with music to suit. Great place to go if you want a night of dancing but don't feel like mingling with the students.

Came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night, we're both industry so wanted to enjoy a rare Saturday not working! Cocktails were great, made by the lovely Gigi, very well priced for Bath and a really good selection. Seating was comfy and still socially distanced without compromising on space or atmosphere. The manager, Tom was wonderful, there was a larger group of guys sat by us and he took the time to come over and assure me that if I felt in any way uncomfortable that he would move us. It wasn't needed as the gents were lovely but that extra level of care was just so appreciated and really impressed us both. Absolutely great spot for some cosy late night drinks!!

Fantastic atmosphere and not a bad price on the cocktails. Limit range but worth a visit. Highly recommended and fantastic front of house staff. Everything is underground, which we were informed was due to noise restrictions past certain times. Loved it.

No dancing, each group needs a little table and chairs to sit at (not a bad thing at 11pm) drinks were good. Crowd was non existant really. Very different to what it would have been like in 2019 I'm sure

Decent cocktail bar and club. Service was super friendly and welcoming, the barman that served me made a cracking whisky sour. The decor is upmarket and smart, it has a dance floor. It has 2 floors. Prices are reasonable.
