Cinnamon Club - Durham in County Durham

We found this absolute gem of a place over a year ago and have been back regularly since. Food is absolutely beautiful, highly doubt you’ll finder a nicer one anywhere near! The staff are so lovely and the service is great. We thoroughly enjoy every visit as a family and even our children ask to go back often. Highly recommend the mixed grill 👌🏼 stunning 👌🏼 the chicken tikka pathia is so full of flavours too 😍

Absolutely delicious food, good service with food served quickly but also at the right times after each course finished. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere.

Visited for a treat to end the year in style Table booked in October and we added a family member 2nd week in December they couldn’t find our reservation😩 we arrived at least 15 mins early and were shown to our table 5 mins later drinks ordered. Asked if we wanted popadoms duly brought to table in timely fashion but the yoghurt and mango chutney were so runny. We ordered our food and waited and waited and waited. The restaurant was full lots of people waiting we noticed noone was eating their main meal. People in their lounge waiting for takeaway waited ages too; drivers calling to pick up meals for customers who had ordered via apps. We had waited 2 hours from entering the restaurant before we asked the manager what the hold up was. We were told 5-10 mins at most by waitresses who were very busy whole time we were there wsitresses (school kids were sent to apologise for delays) 25 mins later my son, a chef himself, went to see the manager and was shown into their kitchen to view their chef and team working hard. That was never the grievance; our grievance was we had been sat 2 and half hours no sign of our meals. One table paid for their drinks and left as they had waited too long. Another table being charged for food the hadn’t ordered. We got our coats on and were leaving the table when our food appeared. Being so hungry at this point we sat back down and ate meals paid for them and left the restaurant. No placating words from management just shown into the kitchen (surely a breach in H&S and Hygiene). We will never go back. May have helped if management had apologised for delays or offered a free drink or had taken ownership of the fact the restaurant had been greedy ny taking takeaway orders and orders via apps with a full restaurant- bad management decision- whilst inadequate staffing ratio in kitchen.

We've been here a few times since my last review so I'll write about the meal we had for my son's 18th birthday meal (I accidentally said 19th birthday in my other review). We were given a lovely, private room which was decorated beautifully. We were assigned a lovely young lad to look after us. There 17 of us in total. The service was great and the food was outstanding as always. My family were amazed by the standard of the food and service. I'm sure they'd become regulars if it weren't too far to travel from Liverpool 😂 will have to treat them again next time they're up 🥰 (I didn't get any photos of food on the day, only people so I'll upload a picture of my food from the visit after that one in December)

Came here today for Christmas Day lunch. Excellent food , friendly and hard working staff. Lovely comfortable restaurant and relaxed atmosphere. Restaurant was very busy , always a good sign. We’ll be back !

We have eaten here several times, and the food is always excellent. The menu is not the most extensive because they cook everything fresh, but there is something for every taste and the prices are very reasonable. It is a bit out of the way, on the edge of Trimdon, but well worth the effort. We recently took some friends from London, who reckoned it was the best curry they have had in a long time.

We've been back a few times and have enjoyed our meals. Tonight was a little surprising as it was very quiet for an early Friday evening. This was a surprise given the quality of the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening celebrating the FiL 93rd birthday. The owner made a fuss of him, and he thoroughly enjoyed his evening. Would recommend this restaurant.

Can't shout about this place enough. It is genuinely the nicest Indians in the North East! We went the night before my daughter's birthday and the owner gave her a birthday ice cream 😍 the place is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the owner is a genuinely beautiful human ❤️

Nice place but the drinks are expensive. They sell a £6.50 bottle of Sainsbury’s wine (Montpierre Sauvignon Blanc) for £20. The food is outstanding. Good service too.

Ordered a takeaway from a really extensive menu. Delivery exactly on time ,food was hot and absolutely delicious. We both said one of the best Indian meals we've eaten in ages. Oh and 20% discount on a Tuesday 😁😁 xx

This is by far the best Indian's we have ever been to. We've been coming here regularly for year or more now and it is our favourite place to eat. The staff are always so professional and polite. Such a lovely place to visit and will look forward to bringing my family from Liverpool here for my son's 18th which is his choice of place for an 1ith celebration. Highly recommended to all. We have been going here for many years and always on our wedding anniversary. After we went this time we both agreed the food wasn’t up to standard. I ordered a Kandhari with lamb. I was then told they’d run out of lamb. As it was early evening I imagine as lamb is expensive they’d decided to either not order any or not order very much. In the end I chose vegetables to have with it. Having had this before in the Cinnamon Club and thoroughly enjoyed it I was really looking forward to it but it was completely tasteless, could not even taste the cheese so I would think they were using a cheap cheese too. I ordered a Peshwari Nan which the menu states contains almonds, pistachio and mango, to me it tasted just like a plain Nan. My husband ordered a garlic Nan which was also tasteless without a hint of garlic. Also in this day and age you would think you’d be able to order a coffee such as a Nespresso coffee but they do not even have a proper coffee machine. The bill was exorbitant considering how disappointing the food was. The waitress didn’t even bother to come and ask us if everything was okay which you get in most restaurants. This makes me wonder if the restaurant has changed hands due to the poor food and customer service. All in all a very disappointing celebratory meal out, especially as this was one of our favourite restaurants. We will certainly not be returning.

We treated friends and family to a feast at a home gathering. We contacted the Cinnamon Club as we had visited there previously and had an excellent experience. We placed a huge £300 order to be collected and Saj and his staff helped us in every way possible, happily arranged our order and made it available for collection early on a weekend. The food was delicious and a host of extras were given which was lovely. I’d recommend the Cinnamon Club to any lover of traditional Indian cuisine and a warm, welcoming establishment!

Fabulous little gem of a place! ( They own The Capital and The Spice Lounge in Durham, so that will tell you the quality)

Not been to the Cinnamon Club for some time and it did not disappoint Food and service was excellent. It has to be one of the best Indian restaurant in the North East tried the lemon and cashew nut rice delicious the other half had his fav dish Hariali and said was the best ever

A really lovely meal ,but the restaurant was very quiet on a Thursday evening. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Food quality was very good. Just a pity the restaurant lacked atmosphere. More people should try it. It deserves to be a success.

It's always dead and tbh the food is overpriced they don't do cocktails anymore we asked for a glass of baileys only to be told they are shots of 25ml when we asked for a glass with ice they're fused completely pointless going here and a waste of money my half a chicken was so small it actually look like half a pigeon so disappointed wont come back pluse over £60 for a starter of prawn cocktail that was warm and squishy and the food was meff

Visited this evening for special occasion . First and second course was very good, asked for a dessert menu only to be told there was no menu . We were offered ice-cream with chocolate or strawberry sauce . ! This I might have had but the waitress was so disinterested we declined because we couldn’t wait to get out of the place. No coffee offered . We will certainly not bother to go there again.

First visit to this restaurant after a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and very well presented, restaurant smart and clean, staff attentive. Well worth the 25 minute drive and will definitely return .

Very disappointed..... Went in a group of 10 had to wait 2 hours for the food to arrive when it did it arrive the rice was brought first 5 mins later the curry dishes and the another 5 minutes late the tandoori grills arrived by this time the rice was cold the curry dishes were cold when we told the staff he just said sorry we had to wait for the grills no mention of replacing cold food or offering to heat it up it was just our fault for ordering 3 grills ..... He then appeared with 2 takeaways and the offer of free drinks to compensate .......so if you go don't go in a group and don't order tandoori grills or you'll be there all night but what we did eat was very tasty just a shame it was cold

I was with my wife for the first time in this restaurant. We are not fans of Indian cuisine, but this restaurant made us appreciate and like Indian food. We had two different types of Chiken Tikka, very tasty, aromatic, and spice. We will definitely come back, together with our friends. I recommend this restaurant!

Greeted by some lovely young girls who were serving behind the bar. Nice place , friendly staff. Both had sid s special. Value for money but upgraded to a main dish, was delicious. Keema rice was excellent and the pickle tray. The tandoori chef is excellent best tikka I've ever had , soft and tender & flavoursome. Tom the waiter was polite and time for a chat , love this. Visited cinnamon today was greeted at the door by friendly staff and was seated very shortly. Service was amazing, food arrived very quickly and tasted amazing. Will visit again definitely, a true gem in the most contemporary village setting.

This was our first visit of more to come. The staff was lovely and friendly, which is always a plus. What can I say about the food? To start, obviously 2 popadoms, but they were out of hot pickle, and i don't like chutney. Well, the onion bajhi was the best we have had. We had chicken chilli massala and chicken garlic chilli massala, and it was rated 2 hot peppers - it was! It's so good but much hotter than expected (not complaining). We had two portions of rice and a side of bombay aloo, which had some kick and again very good! Then a chilli cheese garlic naan - couldn't taste the garlic but I think because we had so much spicy food. 2 brown ales to drink, which totalled 62 quid. It was an expensive dinner out, and next time, we will point out we probably fit in the 9.99 special per person. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat and glad others kept saying we had to try it.

The food was lovely and service although very good was abit slow. We had the summer special was a good deal £9.95, but u had to pay extra for the pickles with the poppadom , Which I thought wasn't good as I think papadoms should come with them as who wants to eat a dry papadom?

Second Takeaway, my order was very disappointing. I ordered the Tandoori mix grill for £12.95. Chicken was dry and over cooked, small portion for the price and no Tandoori king prawns or green salad delivered as stated in the menu. Think I'll find a new Indian takeaway from now on.

Spur of the moment visit to Cinnamon Club last night and what a delight it was. Recently moved nearby and drove up as we had heard good things about this restaurant. We had a delicious meal which was fresh and you can tell good quality ingredients are used to make this fab food. Service was attentive and friendly which adds to a great experience. Would not hesitate to visit again and if you're looking for a good place to try then you won't go wrong booking a table at Cinnamon Club. It's great
