Churchills Fish & Chips in Hart

Spent £14 for cod and chips. Delivery arrived and no cod with cold chips. Attempted to call Churchills to get an automatic message to say their phone lines are down.

Awful. Went here because the local chip shop was extremely busy so thought I’d give Churchill’s one last “go” as we’ve previously had a mixed bag of experiences. Greasy over cooked chips and “funny” smelling chicken. Not worth the bother and sincerely wish I’d waited in the long queue at the other chippy.

Just arrived home with my fish and chips from Churchill's Fleet and feel completely ripped off. Over priced fish and chips for the smallest portions I have ever seen. Very greasy and overcooked. And to top it off a portion of chips was missing from the order. We live 15 minutes away so wasn't worth driving back to complain. Wish I had seen all the bad reviews beforehand. So disappointing, will definitely not be returning.

request for delivery at 5pm....food arrived at 6.18pm...no reason no apology and I even rang the restaurant 9 times and each time I press number 2 to be put through then just hung up each time....my guest had to leave just after 6pm so I ended up ordering from elsewhere and they delivered before this one arrived absolutely shocking

Delicious food but sometimes items are missing. Getting a refund is easy but it would be nice to get a complete order.

Chicken portion was big. Chips good but if ordering the half chicken I'd recommend going large on chips as otherwise not enough. One oddity: bread rolls were only buttered on the bottom and not on the top half. Very weird!

sadly this experience of our meal from Churchills was not great and that is 100% down to the delivery driver. Our food ended up cold because he couldn't follow instructions on how to get to our house despite me talking to him on the phone. I ended up having to leave the house to find him. This is the only time we have not had someone able to find our house with direction.

Took 2 hours to deliver and was missing an item.

The food was average payed extra for a large chips which was quite pricey and the portion was average at best would have called it a small portion compared to any other chip shops, the chips were under cooked and oily but. the batter on the sausage was lovely unfortunately the only good thing about this order

Called in at about 12:30 pm. today Monday ..young man on his own ..haddock and chips please …will be about 10 minutes …ok ..paid £11:99…drove home , short distance …ugh!, awful ..all under cooked …only able to eat 1/4 of fish , and little chips …disgusting ..fish hard and dull ..obviously old stock ..felt sick ..as an oap ..waste of money …never ever go there again…and tell all my friends at the oap club to avoid …£11:99 ….don’t believe it …AVOID…churchills f/c shop in fleet …bill .oap

Missing curry sauce and for the price it cost it’s unacceptable

Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had, took an hour and a half to arrive, food was really cold, no heat in it at all. The fish was black and the batter was stuck firmly to the paper inside, Couldn’t scrape it off. The chips were hard and black and really dry. I never leave bad reviews but this was really bad.

Mushy fish and poor delivery time.

Very light batter and chips were very greasy with not much crisp.

The worst place to go for fish and chips in Fleet. The quality of the food isn’t terrible (it certainly isn’t anything special either), but the portions are tiny and the prices are very high. The Flying Fish a few minutes’ walk down the road has better food at lower prices for larger portions, as do the other three fish and chip shops in Fleet / Church Crookham.

Mediocre at best! For the prices they charge I was expecting something amazing because it's VERY expensive. I ordered large fish, it was tiny. Large chips very small. Skin was left on the fish. Curry sauce was way, way too spicy. Won't order again. Should be half the price it was for what you get!

I tried to order via deliveroo and the order was rejected. I checked their opening times and they were open so I tried to call to see if I could collect and they didn't pickup.

ordered a few bits, was rather pricey, Food tasted average at best, but the main issue was the “large chips”, was what i call a small at best, a suitable portion size for a young child. avoid this place, so many better chip shops in fleet.

Absolutely outstanding chicken. Absolutely outstanding chips. Stunning! Bread rolls lacked some butter but were OK.

Food was cold, and we waited almost 2 hours for food.we rung the restaurant as just eat said the courier was at the restaurant, restaurant confirmed there was no driver. Restaurant is great just eat service let it down.

Ordered 2 x fish and chips for delivery via deliveroo and the order was dispatched at 16:12 (printed on the receipt). The food was delivered at 16:21 (ring doorbell photo) and the food was cold. A temperature probe showed the fish was 31°c. Churchill fish and chips refused to accept responsibility or give a refund. Do not eat there.

Disappointed with churchill fish and chips Hubby has senior fish and chips he didn’t know what fish it was but it wasn’t cod and chips had been cooked in what tasted like old oil yuck I had sausage and that was fine , but was asked if I would like add on onion rings i thought i would give them a try never again , they were tough greasy and disgusting very disappointed

Title : Gluten free fish and chippies OK so the gluten free is really good, batter is a hard one to do without gluten. Most of the time you'd end up with a batter too thick. Over cooked or soggy. It's oddly just difficult to do. Not difficult for these guys. Churchills has been consistently very good. I would upload pictures, the issue is the second I get home it's almost inhaled instantly. My one criticism and I'm pushing to create this! Out of 5 visits once the chips were too anemic for my tastes, my other half didn't share my opinion. Finally we need to talk about the curry sauce!!! I'm very concerned about it, it's clearly got crack in it and what's worse is I don't care. I'll take out you and my mum to have more of that stuff, excellent in all areas. Consistency is perfect, spot on salty taste, then hit with a curry warmth yet it's not hot so it doesn't take away anything from the meal. If they did chicken curry I'd live in this takeaway.

Ordered at 2pm approx, for 5pm, received at 5.35pm. Food was tepid, curry sauce was cold. Delivery driver was polite but seemed to be in a rush.

Shocking! 1st time customer and absolutely the last. They say don't judge a book by it's cover, unfortunately that works both ways! Chips over cooked dry and bitter from the burnt oil.. fyi your ment to clean your fryer not just change the oil, fish was okay but nothing to write home about and definitely not worth the price by the time you've gotten through the batter.. only thing that actually tasted enjoyable was the jumbo sausage which lets be fair a child could cook under the right supervision!! Oh and the can of coke was cold, maybe spend less time / profit on advertising and focus on reading your reviews and training your staff.

Order says it’s been delivered, it hasn’t been. My husband saw a car driving off but clearly delivered to wrong house.

My second visit and second chance after a really poor first visit experience a year ago. Whilst the premises are well presented the product is unfortunately terrible. The chips were overcooked and greasy to the point they were hard and crunchy. The small fish was 70% bloated greasy batter and again overcooked and dry. Genuinely disappointed with the quality, rather dreadful. Was expecting so much more. The prices charged would only be palatable IF the product was top quality, which is the polar opposite. Whoever owns this place should take a good look at the consistent quality issues and remediate. Criminal to charge these prices for such poor quality. Staff were friendly however I will not be going back. For those lucky enough to get a good meal here you will be sorely disappointed in due course, rest assured.

Unfortunately the portion size of the chips were very small for the price, and the batter on both the sausage and fish were soggy rather than crispy. A slight positive the chicken was very moist. Just let down buy the quality of the rest.

Superb fish (huge and tasty). Good chip-shop chips. Lashings of salt & vinegar. Wonderful!

Originally should have been delivered for 6.50pm arrived 7.20pm all food was cold and ordered large chips but ended up as regular cos of the sausage packing the box out not worth the money at all

Nice food but for the price we paid the large chips are equivalent to less than small chips and they are consistently forgetting items....very annoying, shame really.

Not cooked to order, so was hardly warm and chips were a bit limp, over priced, feel like I was paying for the boxes they put it in, maybe be better if cooked to order Staff friendly

Food was practically cold when it arrived and some of the order was wrong. It was a Friday night but should check the whole order is there.

They gave me a Lunchtime Saver size portion. I asked for small Haddock and chips and paid £10.99 for it.

Writing this as I'm looking at my half eaten box of food. First impressions of churchills is that is certainly a nicely furnished and modern looking shop. Unfortunately that's where the compliments end. Greeted by 3 very young workers who clearly didn't like cleaning. The kitchen was disgusting. I was hesitant to order but did so anyway as I was very hungry. Ordered cod and chips which was served almost immediately. My fears were realised when I ate the fish (in the shop), the consistency was like saw dust, clearly had been left in the warm heater for too long. I told the young girl the fish that the fish had gone dry and all I got response was a mumbled "sorry" as she looked at her till. I forced myself to eat my food as I had paid £13.50 and was very hungry. Arguably one of the worsts battered cods I've had in a long time. Won't be returning. One word of advice to have an adult managing these young workers. What a waste of nice shop. Clearly alot of money had been spent.

Very nice fish & chips. Battered fish tasty, albeit batter on fish, whilst very tasty, is not as much of it nor as crispy on completely classic fish & chips, if that's your thing.

Friendly swift service and delicious chips (which they did for me double cooked 😋).

The portion size fell far short of the usual size. Chose to go large on the chips and we got less than usual order of medium portion size. Very disappointed.

Service was quick and good. Fish was tasty But the chips were pretty awful. Everything was fried in old oil that had so much burned bits from previous cooking. Fries were under cooked and super oily.

Definitely could've been hotter and quicker.

Great food tasted ok. When it arrived though it was not warm, had to reheat in microwave (all of order). Once reheated was tasty food.

Asked for salt and vinegar on everything, and didn’t get any! You’ve got to have salt and vinegar!!! The haddock was okay, but the cod was tasteless, all in all not very inspiring! Sorry but there are other fish and chip shops around that are much better!

I popped in here on the way back from a day out when I didn't want to cook. The food was great but I did not get what I ordered and had to remind the server that I had ordered curry sauce and mushy peas. I would go back though.

Very bad.. Dry cardboard chips and bits of blue plastic in the fish (inside the batter). Could not finish the food it was not a good experience.. I have not been back since.

I ordered fish and chips to takeaway. The chips were a bit dry, fish was ok... until I found blue plastic in the fish. Of course this put me off, I spat out the food I was unfortunately half way through eating and did not finish the food.. I have not been back since.

Battered sausage, amazing. Fishcake, amazing. Large chips.... More like small chips, soggy and greasy. Could have done with leaving them in a bit longer and a fair few more of them.

Part of my order was missing, when I phoned the shop and the chap on the phone refused to send out the rest of the order, blaming the driver! It used to be a great little chippy now its gone majorly downhill, shame

Missed out part of my order, ran after the driver who ignored my shouting, tried to phone, Finally got through on the, I explained the situation and he blamed the driver, told me to complain on just eat and refused to send out the rest of the order. Ordered large cod, small cod and large chips. £20.65 which I thought was a bit pricey. Cod was already cooked but waited for the chips. 2 young ladies on the counter who didn't appear confident in what they were doing. Once chips were cooked we took our meal home (2 minutes drive). Well the cod was very average and still had the skin on. I don't mind the skin but my elderly mother doesn't. As for the chips - worst I've ever had from a chip shop considering they were freshly cooked. They were like chips from the day before that had been reheated. They were hard on the edges (not crispy), fairly pale and there were lots of small bits. Will not be using again.

Had a delivery really disappointed in quality of meal chips were so hard couldn’t eat them - looked like they were cooked hours ago. Very expensive waste of a meal.

Drink was missing. Driver was apologetic but not his fault. I have logged a claim through Just-eat for a refund on the missing item.

An hour and a half after ordering, a driver hadn't arrived to collect our order from the shop. I phoned Churchills and he said he would try to get a new driver assigned. When the food arrived it was almost cold and the texture suggested it had been hanging around. The food took an hour and 50mins

Don't normally leave bad reviews but, there is no sense of urgency in this place, food was cold chips had black bits all over, fish fried till its dry and rubbery , won't be going back here again

Got what we ordered (though a bit less salt and vinegar than expected). Both the fish and the chips were tasty and nicely cooked.

Paid for large cod and extra chips with s & v. If that’s large portion of chips I wish I hadn’t bothered to pay extra, could count on both hands how many there were. Won’t reorder

Food lovely but late again. I had late delivery last time I tried Churchills a while ago but thought I’d try again but still not good. Won’t be using again I’m afraid.

Amazing fish and chips, delivered warm and tasty

First time I ordered the fish and chips. Delicious , highly recommended. Arrived warm, on time and fish was very fresh.

Packaging looked great. Loads of chips but they were very overcooked. The rest of the food was nice though. Maybe better on a busier night with a higher turn over of food so it is a bit fresher. Would return to try again.

i ordered large cod and chips, was told its going to take 6min to prepare, after 20min i recieved my order, will not order again from this place

Had our food delivered and my chips were forgotten , gave them a call and he couldn’t have done more , a large chips being sent down . Great service . Thankyou so much .

Ok fish and chips but as a lass brought up with a chippy mum and dad here's some tips: Batter far too thin, when you mix it, stick your finger in (clean of course) if the right consistency should drop off but leave the finger coated. Yours would be too runny. Chips were ok but pick out the green ones. Mushy peas... ok but no idea where you get your price from... almost £4 on deliveroo. Pretty sure that wouldn't be your direct price as its ridiculous! Practice your batter AND take the skin off your fish.

Takes far too long from ordering to delivery. Over an hour and a half and food was Luke warm when it arrived.

After waiting 2.5 hours (could not cancel order as would not be refunded on just eat) so had to wait. When it arrived 45 minutes after I was told it was out for delivery it was stone cold so went straight into the bin.

Love their gluten free sausage and fish on a Monday and Tuesday. Absolutely delicious. Top mark!
